Very disappointing experience at Cakes and Bakes. We ordered a Black Forest cake, but the cake we received looked nothing like the one on display. The display cake was nicely decorated, but the one given to us was completely plain white with no chocolate chips around it at all. There were four cakes kept for display, and when we asked for one of them, the attender said they were only for display and refused to sell them, which felt misleading. There was plain space on top of the cake to write a message, yet the attender refused to write the wish, which is very basic service for a cake shop. Worse, the Black Forest cake did not taste fresh at all. It was hard, dry, and completely tasteless. To make things worse, it was extremely expensive $50 for an 8‑inch cake with no taste and poor quality. Overall, very bad service and not worth the money. I strongly do not recommend Cakes and Bakes. read more

The dish was served extremely spicy to the point that my hungry child could not eat it. While eating, I found a hair in the dish. When I brought this to the cashier's attention, the initial response was to suggest it could be part of the cooking process for chana, which is not something I have encountered before in my years of cooking and eating. A replacement dish was then offered, but given the hygiene concern and the excessive spice level, I declined. No refund or alternative resolution was offered. I've known about Cakes and Bakes for years now because my aunt always gets their eggless mango cakes for our family events. For our wedding in May 2021, my husband and I just knew we had to get our wedding cake from them. My aunt gave me the Alex's number, he's the head baker, but it was very difficult to get a hold of him and we had a little back and forth over a two week span. Finally my husband I made the time to go to the store and talk to him directly and finally place our order. Coming into the store ended up being a good idea because we got to taste test a few flavors before finalizing on our 3-tiered cake. We knew we wanted an off white cake with flowers, but left all creative control up to Alex . They took a 30% deposit and finalized the time that they would drop off the cake during our reception party. On our wedding day, the cake turned out gorgeous. It was as beautiful as we expected and tasted great. Our guests loved that the cake had fun Indian flavors like mango and pistachio, but still had an elegant and classy look on the outside. I ordered half saree cake and so disappointed. Doll on the cake was so creepy and literally guests laughed by looking at the cake . I spent 200$ on it .. Street Pani Puri - it was really good!! He uses chole, potatoes, tomatos, carrots, onions and tomatoes. He uses a regular pani puri pani and also tamarind pani if you like it sweet. I typically get it sweetened, it's good like that for me. Without the tamarind it's not that spicy. It's $8 for a round of 8 pani puris and make sure you pay inside and get a ticket to give to him. He's only there Friday - Sundays (5-8 I think). Actual store - it was good. We were waiting for the guy to open up the pani puri lahri, so we decided to get vegetable puffs and cake. The vegetable puff was too sweet. Not too bad. The cakes - pistachio and devil's cake was great! The pistachio cake was eggless, the have the bottom row dedicated for no eggs.
