I placed a birthday cake order with Cake Snob LLC on January 22nd, and I spoke with a woman named Nichol/Nicole. I provided photo references for the cake and was very descriptive of what I requested and was under the impression we were on the same page. After confirming the details she told me the cake would be $140 and sent me an invoice that I paid. The invoice included $15.40 of Missouri Sales Tax making the cakes total price come out to $155.40. On Sunday February 8th, I messaged Nichol about getting the cake delivered to me because on the website it says that they offer that. She told me it would be $25 and sent me an invoice that I paid, and the Missouri Sales Tax was $2.75 added onto this made the total come out to $27.75. All together, this is $183.15, almost $200 spent. The cake was to be delivered on February 10th which is when I needed it and what we had agreed on. She came at around 12:07pm with the cake to my doorstep and passed it off to me and I said thank you and that it was cute. I did not get to take a closer look at the cake as I was rushing because it was my partner's birthday and I had a lot to do already-- so yes I assumed the cake looked fine because I had already saw her reviews and photos online which is what promted me placing an order in the first place and didnt think I needed to do a hard look and inspect the entire cake as I was already rushing. After bringing the cake inside my house that was when I started to see the flaws that anyone who calls themselves a "baker" would have noticed as well. I reached out to her in a very professional and polite way and to sum up her response I was only able to get a 25% refund or a gift card, because she doesnt usually do refunds. I asked if the refund could be more because of how much I spent, and she followed up with sending me her policy and to sum up the rest, how no work will be exactly like photos online and that she wished I refused the delivery, which doesnt make sense because I already paid her in full for everything and she couldve easily taken it back and blocked me. I didnt want to argue so I said I would take the 25% refund and she left me on read for about 3 hours--very rude and unprofessional so I texted her with a "?" And she finally responded and to sum it up Im supposedly getting a 25% refund that can take up to three days back on the card I used. Later on that night we finally tried the cake which prompted me to even write a review. I asked for a vanilla cake with strawberry filling and nothing in that cake tasted like strawberry at all. On top of the cake being sloppily made, the flavor wasnt what was requested which I was hoping would at least taste good so I wouldnt need to take further action, and tasted like a Walmart box cake mix. There was nothing unique about this cake flavor at all. I am shocked and highly upset with how this entire situation went and about how she tried to blame me because I accepted the cake as if it would make sense to refuse it after I already paid her in full. I do not recommend this business at all. She does not see anything wrong with the way this cake looks. Anyone who is passionate enough about their craft and has deep care for their presentation would never give somebody an item like this. read more

On June 30 I called Cake snob I asked her how much a army think Cake would cost she asked me if I had any pictures and I showed her what I was looking for and I said I want exactly that I am referring to the second picture! I told her make sure that it has dog tags on it and bullets I would appreciate it if it was exactly like the cake in the second picture! She assured me that she could do it! On July 1 I purchased the cake I made the payment in other words! Over the month of July we talked several times I called her 3 July to make sure that she would have this cake and that my payment went through! I called her again on the fifth the Seventh and the 10th and then again on the 15th I was supposed to have the cake delivered on the 16th she assured me on the 15th that she would take pictures of my cake and when I spoke with her she accidentally let it slip she said oh the cake with the four wheeler's and I said no and she said 0 The camo Cake I said no the army Cake I don't want just want camo I want army Cake she assured me that she would have it ready and she would take pictures! She arrived the 16th 15 minutes early and sit out in my front yard! She did not take pictures of the cake until she was here at my door she did not send me pictures of the cake till after she left my house I've got the proof! When this wicked witch came to my house she was all smiley and handed me the cake I told her that is not what I wanted that's not the cake I ordered she said you wanted to come OK I said no I wanted an army Cake! I said I did not ask for four wheelers I did not ask for logs on my Cake I asked for an army Cake with stars bullets and a dog tag like the second picture! Oh but isn't it cute I said no I said I liked the coloring on the cake but I do not like the cake she left in a hurry! Then when I called her she tried to say that I told her I liked the cake that I said it was cute I never said it was cute I said I liked the way it was colored! Then this idiot turned around in a conversation through text message and told me that all the cakes are custom-made they do not make them exactly like what you sent in the pictures she tried to tell me that I'm only going to get a partial because she did not put on the dog tags and the bullets well I feel like she get $100 back because she did not put on the stars that would be another $25 if she wanted to do it that way and the fondue is all over the place it is not even the same design that I asked for in the second Picture! I do not know where this woman got her decorating license if she found it in a crackerjack box or on the side of the road but this woman needs mental help if she thinks that the first cake is anywhere near the second cake I should not pay for this and I feel like the best fit for me to do is call Better Business Bureau and have this woman shut down because this is a rip off read more

On Friday, November 25, 2022 my family held my 50th birthday celebration at the Cake Snob, located on Washington Blvd in the Loft District downtown St. Louis. It was a total disaster! My birthday celebration was planned and paid in full months in advance in cash with the Cake Snob's proprietor, Nichol Gordon. During that time, Nichol assured my family, who managed the birthday celebration planning and payment directly with Nichol that my birthday celebration would be completely taken care of with nothing to worry about at all. We were all 100% confident in Nichol's promise, because Nichol and I have been friends for over 30 years. Upon arrival to the Cake Snob for the birthday celebration, my husband and I greeted my fifty plus guests and my heart dropped, not from the smiles and birthday wishes of family and close friends, but from there being none of the decorations, drinks, or cupcakes as promised by Nichol, which again were all paid for in full, months prior. Nichol guaranteed us the Cake Snob venue would be decorated with a digital photo display and custom pink, white and rose gold decorum with the chandelier that was seen in Cake Snob's former St. Louis Galleria location, but it was not there at the Washington Blvd location as promised, nor were there custom cupcakes or the champagne toast that were all to be provided by Nichol. Nichol did not even offer my 50 plus guest drinking water. I did observe Nichol offering my guest two store bought Schuncks cakes which she left the event to go and purchase and serve to my guest, after returning to my event at Cake Snob with the Schuncks plastic grocery bag they came in. Again, having a long standing close relationship with Nichol, I reached out to her the day following my birthday celebration at Cake Snob, in disappointing tears expressing my confusion and disappointment in how she allowed this type of disaster to take place on a day that I can never get back again, my 50th birthday. She expressed her apology to me and Nichol told me that she would refund part of the cash back to my family. I paid $999 for a baby shower package at this establishment. it was to include appetizer, drinks, games, themed decorations, a cake, cup cakes, and 3 hours usage of the facility. After asking several times about the food, I was told an hour into the event that there was none and that I could go to Dierbergs or Sam's to get food to feed my guests. This meant I had to miss the majority of the shower to go out and get food for which I had already paid. We asked for African American Strawberry Shortcake decorations and ended up with a generic strawberry baby shower back drop. We were charged $2 for a soda. There were no cupcakes and there wasn't enough seating. After expressing my disappointment with the owner, she said she talked with her accountant and lawyer and offered me a refund of $150. She said that is what she would have paid for the food. I told her that was a slap in the face considering nothing that was promised was delivered. Then I was told that I used the location for an additional 2 hours. This is true. We were there longer than originally agreed because I had to go out and do what was supposed to have already been done. She then came back and offered a refund of $450. This was on Sept 5th. I was told I would have it in 10 business days. That didn't happen. On Sept 26th she contacted me and said she had taken time away because of Covid buy would be making deposits that week. I ordered a cake from Cake Snob 1 month prior to my husband's Oct, 50th Birthday . I found number through Google as a last resort option due to other bakeries being booked up through Nov. I spoke with the owner, asked if it was enough time for her in her schedule to prepare the cake 1 month in advance. She informed me she would be able to get it done in time on the date requested and asked me of my details, so I placed order and paid over phone immediately with her. I called several times prior too event (weeks in advance) to review discussed details of the cake and with each phone call she reassured me of cake details but was busy each time I tried to plan to come to the cake shop to see examples. On day of cake pick up at exact time we both agreed upon, I was not able to reach her by phone. I called several times standing outside of shop, no answer. There was a party going on inside the shop as I was trying to call from outside. We had to knock on shop window for one of the guest inside, to answer us at window/door and we explained to them we were here for an order pick up at this appt time. Someone from the back came to the door to let us in, and walked us through the party to the back of shop. The owner had her back toward us trying to fix up my ordered cake (now past appt time) and asked us to give her 2 min. When she gave me the cake, it was dented on the side, icing smudges on side, icing missing on top tier side of cake, with ribbon falling off. It looked like a rushed job. Just a MESS! Then she attemted to place a cake box on top of cake that didn't fit, which smudged the cake more. I pointed out the issues, she attempted to fix, and made it worse. Due to time constraint for guest arrival to my husband's planned party in 1 and 1/2 hrs, I had to just take cake and leave. As I cried in car with dissapointment, I had to think of plan B. I could not present this mess of a cake which was suppose to be the signature part of party. I decided to go to Sams and bought cupcakes instead. When I arrived to the party venue with cupcakes and the "mess of a cake", sooo dissapointed...the event planner and venue owner discussed a fix, so the venue owner took the cake to another bakery person to fix the cake.... and MY GOD! It was EPIC! The cake was sooo beautifully done!! Better than the original of what CAKE Snob had done. I was so grateful! The positive for Cake Snob is....the cake was delicious! However, NOT taking accountability in advance and informing me there was an issue with the cake WAS NOT professional or allowing me time to make a last minute decision prior to cake pick up due to their mess up. Also, not answering the phone, or giving me info of which door to come to, and that there would be a party during time of pick up, was poor communication on her end.
