Oops! Hit the wrong button! The brownie cake was for her birthday and I wanted to put it on the cardboard round and decorate it. I was amazed at the many sizes of the cardboard rounds! I never thought about how large a cake could be made! They have molds and melts for making candy in lots of shapes and flavors! I would recommend going there for miniatures if you're working on a project. Be prepared to spend time in the store especially if it's your first visit! New ownership, new location in an adjacent plaza. I will never return. I felt unsafe in that area and especially in that store. Two women were "working" and their customer service was appalling. The woman "in charge" could not easily locate the melting chocolates I asked for. I did not purchase them because it was an off brand (not Mercens) and I could not trust the safe handling of this delicate food product. The woman actually THREW the chocolate wafer bags behind the counter making a loud noise to show her anger that she went to all the trouble to find the candy "somewhere in the back" and I decided to not buy the product. The store was disorganized and unpleasant. I won't return. They will be out of business soon. read more

Tucked away in a half-empty mall, this is a surprise, an amazing one. Took my mom since she loves to cook, and particularly bake. She said she had never seen a store like this, was amazed, and that's saying something considering she has been to plenty of kitchen supply stores and is well-traveled. There is a whole aisle of cookie cutters, one of molds, tons of decorations, pans, etc., etc. Prices seem reasonable. The staff (and customers) are knowledgeable and helpful. If you need anything baking-related, you should check this out. It's not the kind of place I usually go, but it is clearly a gem for cooks. read more

When you walk into Cake Craft the first thing that comes to mind is a flea market. You will find a ton of things from the early 1980s that fill you with nostalgia and an overwhelming desire to buy yourself a Smurfette cake topper. If you can fight past that though you'll find one of the best selections of cake supplies, cupcake decorations, and cookie cutters in town. This place is far superior to the cake aisle in any craft store. They also have pans, separators and sugar roses for anyone trying to make a wedding cake on the cheap. It looks a little shady from the outside, and to be honest, it looks a little shady from the inside too, but for any cake baker, from amateur to professional, this place should be on your must see list! read more

When I had a visiting friend who works at a bakery, I decided to have him teach me how to make icing decorations. (I then promptly fell asleep after the cake was finished, so I still don't know how to make an icing rose.) In search of cake decorating supplies, we chose Cake Craft Co to browse. I was really excited about it, until I got in there. Cake Craft Co would be a great resource for home bakers if the internet didn't exist because they have a LOT of stuff--but since I can find all of this stuff (clean and organized) online, I don't appreciate CCC nearly as much. Their aisles are claustrophobic and messy, especially with regard to plastic cake decorations--and there are a LOT of plastic cake decorations--a lot more than I'd expect to see in a semi-professional cake supply store. Everything is really disorderly and it was sometimes difficult to find prices for items. The store breaks down something like this: two cramped aisles of plastic bits that are loose and would need major sanitizing before putting onto something edible; two aisles of plastic candy-making molds; a half aisle of cookie cutters; a couple of aisles of different kinds of cake pans; a large island of messy displays that hold everything from icing tips to pre-made fondants, caramel, and other confections used for cake; a section crammed with ... I don't even know--decoration tools plus more plastic cake bits (columns for tiers, and such); coloring and pigments.. and there are areas that are a bit hazy in my mind because they were so disorderly I can't even remember what the main focus was. All of the icing tips were behind the counter, and the example display didn't have prices, so I didn't even want to ask--even to look at the example display put me directly in the path of the check-out line, and I didn't want to be in the way. They had some ancient decorating kits that I assume were used, and seemed way overpriced given that they were used and in kind of musty boxes. The other thing that disturbed me about the shop was their cake displays. Ancient, dusty, dirty cakes were on display--the fondant and the icing were cracking, and they basically felt unsanitary. At no point was I asked if I needed help finding anything (which, in that jumble, any reasonable person might need help finding something). I didn't purchase anything, and unless I need something right away that I can't get elsewhere, I probably won't return. read more

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this store. The selection is out of this world. They have EVERYTHING and I mean everything you could want relative to making cakes, candies, cookies. Chocolates, icings, colorings, flavorings, cake and cookie decorations, all different packaging including tons of different sized cake boxes, goody boxes, covered trays for truffles, cupcakes or display. My only negative is their limited hours (5 pm) which means I can generally only get there on weekends. Owned by an older couple so I don't blame them! They still get to have lives--we just adapt :) read more

Ok, so I went in ---searching for some cake topper supplies and ideas. The 1st thing that came to mind: "Do I smell a litter box? Or just cat pee?" Seriously. The old folks who run it clearly try. But they could really use someone with a vision to come in and organize and merchandise. Safety hazard= free with purchase. Very cluttered. Dusty. Musty. But, they do have a ton of stuff for baking. This place is AMAZING! I bake for fun and like trying new things, so what a place to go- they have everything and more. Yes, it seems disorganized at first and a tad overwhelming to the first timer, but just let it wash over you and have fun. And spend 2 minutes near the counter just listening... I have yet to go there and not learn something new, fun and ingenious to try. They talk to every customer imparting ideas, tips, new products and sage advice on how to make everything cake decorating better, easier and wow! If I ever have time to waste in Columbus I'm just going to sit in there and listen! Oh- and their prices are VERY competitive! And to Susan R- I would certainly hope you wash ANYTHING that you purchase to put on your cake. duh read more
