I loved my experience with Chef Tami. We did a team building event here and it was totally amazing. Yes, Tami can be hard on you in the kitchen... but you get a real sense of what it would be like to work the line etc... I thought that added to the fun actually... but then I don't take myself too seriously... This is a great experience for teams, parties or groups of people who want to get to know each other better in a learning environment. I was on the team that made the dessert. I separated my first egg. It is kinda far out, but we took a chartered coach and that made it easy. I will definitely be back to take some cooking classes. I love this experience! read more

We recently participated in a corporate team building event at Woodhaven Farm and the evening was interesting to say the least... The location of the farm is off the beaten path and the land, farmhouse and kitchen were beautiful! Unfortunately, our interactions with Chef Tami were horrid. She was overbearing, rude and condescending. Throughout the evening, she yelled at various participants for minor recipe errors, referred to us a "children," and dropped numerous "f-bombs" due to her dismay with our culinary skills. If you are looking for a relaxed, enjoyable, team building event, I would encourage you to look elsewhere, as you will not find this type team building experience at Woodhaven Farm! read more

We recently had an event at Woodhaven Farm. It is a beautiful location, and a great concept of a group of people cooking their meal together. The food was delicious, I must say. Chef Tami however turned the whole thing into an extremely uncomfortable event. She berated us and clearly wanted us to leave as soon as our meal was done- clearing glasses as soon as you sat it down. I think the owner should hire a public face for her business - someone more suited to professionally interacting with the public. Many of us are from out of the area, so perhaps she was not concerned about us returning. However we do have a large office in Columbus, and I am sure they will not be going to this business. It seemed so fun to begin with - just wish it would have panned out in the end. read more

Just had a private event at Woodhaven, and throughly enjoyed every minute and part of the experience!! Tami is very fun and entertaining, adding a unique twist in comparison to any other cooking classes I have taken in Columbus. I would highly recommend having any sort of private party or corporate team building event at Woodhaven with Tami! A friend invited us to celebrate her birthday by attending a cooking party held here. It started out fun, but turned into a sort of whacked culinary bootcamp. "Chef Tami" welcomed us and started us off with nice snacks, showed us around the wonderful kitchen/dining facilities, told us what we'd be preparing, and then turned us loose. Sort of. As it turned out, several of us were a little more well-versed in the culinary arts than "Chef Tami". When we wanted to say, toast the pecans before chopping them for the salad, we grabbed one of the many pans dangling from the ceiling and proceeded to toast away. Since we had many vegetarians and, despite advanced requests for accommodation, one of the dishes prominently featured pigs, we decided to substitute some extra ingredients (from other dishes) for the porcine flesh. Neither of these were on her game plan and it was obvious that she was, uh, uncomfortable with our improvisations. The biggest kicker was that we were expected to do the dishwashing. Now, it would have been one thing if there were ANY mention of this requirement in her promos or if there'd been an assistant there to help out or if there'd been an actual dishwashing machine that just needed loaded. But, down to a person, everyone was shocked that "Chef Tami" had the previously unannounced expectation that we'd be responsible for the washing and that we'd be doing all of it by hand. Our host (the birthday girl) was so surprised and embarrassed at this expectation that she spent the whole evening (save for the time we were actually eating) over the industrial-sized sink doing the washing (rebuffing our attempts to relieve her). If you're into being micromanaged by an uptight hack and want to brush up on your scullery skills, this is the place for you. read more

I went to a corporate event here. We did the cooking and wine thing. I hadn't really been given much idea of what to expect before hand, so my mind was open. The place is very nice, well decorated, and the kitchen looked awesome. Our group started in the side room, with drinks and chatting. Very nice. The Chef Tami then got things started in the main kitchen, explaining we'd be cooking dinner, and what that menu would be. She did ask if there were people with food allergies or any vegetarians. The cooking experience was fun, if loosely directed. As there's only room for so many people around a table to make green beans, many people drifted away to socialize, and some kept cooking. I'm not sure how much cooking Tami did, but it was significant. And maybe that's the problem, because she was a bit of rude for the rest of the experience. Throughout the evening, Tami seemed more and more irritated, and her comments and manner continued to indicate she wasn't happy. Each time I ended up interacting with her, or heard her comments to others, I felt both unwelcome, and like I was in the wrong for some unknown act. Overall, it was a decent experience, but I feel like there must be some lack of alignment between her expectations and ours, because Tami simply radiated negativity. None of our party had, that I'm aware of, acted uncouth or inappropriate, but I've seldom felt less welcome by a host. read more

I went to Woodhaven Farm to attend a corporate team building event that turned into an extremely uncomfortable experience due to the lack of professionalism and the inappropriate behavior of the owner. Pros: Country farm environment, well laid out kitchen, delicious recipes. Con: "Chef" Tami; This is a person that should not deal with the public as she really should have stayed in the prep kitchen. She let us know very quickly this was her business and not her husband's and I am amazed that she is still in business with her inappropriate behavior to the client. No client should be spoken to in a condescending manner laced with profanities. Her negative demeanor makes you feel very uncomfortable instead of welcoming as it should be for a team building event. The concept and venue are wonderful and if Tami could remember that people are paying her to have a pleasant experience then this place would be amazing. I unfortunately cannot recommend this venue to anyone due to the owner, Tami, especially to a business as she is an HR nightmare. read more

I have to disagree with the previous review. My dad has been going to Tami's cooking classes almost every month for several years and I just recently started joining him. I absolutely love to go. I have learned so much. The best part is we get to eat everything at the end:) Tami can be a little forget full and likes to tease her pupils. I could see how she could possibly rub some people the wrong way. These classes may not be for everyone. But the people who go on a regular basis love her. She also has her own show on ONN called "Cooking with Chef Tami". Her kitchen is huge and well stocked with pretty much every utensil a cook would need. I find it to be more of a social event than a class. People can bring their own beer or wine. Usually it is pretty laid back. She typically goes over her menu first then sets us loose. Tami is there for support, but expects us to do most things on our own. I find I have learned more this way. I have obtained some fantastic recipes from her as well. Sometimes some of the people who come to the classes don't even really do any cooking, they are just there for the social aspect of it and that is fine. Usually during the classes she tries to have a helper there to do the dishes. Sometimes this just isn't possible and we are expected to do the dishes. I am not a fan of doing dishes but who is. But we all try to do our part to get it done. read more

I came here last week on a quarterly company retreat for a team building experience. We were welcomed with delicious appetizers and were encouraged to socialize and enjoy the weather before the cooking started. The cooking process was easy, with clearly laid out recipes and most ingredients pre-chopped for us. This helped speed along the process and gave our large group more opportunities to chat and drink while working. Once we were finished cooking, we were served the incredible meal and left alone to carry out the formal portion of our meeting. I attended a company function last week at Woodhaven Farms. The setting was gorgeous, the food delicious and the company stupendous. The only fly in the ointment was Chef Tami. My team had different levels of cooking skills and Tami's recipes were not very clear. I'm not sure if this was on purpose, as it gave her an opportunity to point out flaws and mistakes while she used pots and pans to startle us and dropped a few F-bombs when someone made a mistake.Perhaps her goal was to bring the team together in their dislike of a common enemy. If that is the case, she succeeded! Time to hire someone to take over the kitchen duties, Tami! Someone who can take the heat! read more

If you've ever spent more than a few minutes with Chef Tami Cecil and not laughed, you have no soul or sense of humor! (Maybe the stick is too far up...well...you know...) She is a great host, damn good chef and all around good time. She makes people feel good and leads them along in learning how to cook a great meal while having fun & laughing all the while. I've been lucky enough to see her business transition over the years to become a very warm, fun event. Her kitchen is huge and lends itself to a one of a kind experience. Big or small, corp or private party..you will NOT go wrong with Chef Tami and Woodhaven Farm! If you have no sense of humor or do not like fun...then maybe you should go to Chuck E.Cheeses! Beautiful location, great concept, tasty recipes, but I would go back? Only if there was a new chef in charge. Chef Tami had no patience for anyone who did not follow her exact specifications to the letter. Swearing at your customers and banging pots and pans around may be the norm on Hell's Kitchen, but not in the real world. Chef Tami should focus on the business and hire a new chef that has the skills suited for interacting with the public. read more

We recently had a company event at Woodhaven Farm. The place was beautiful and overall, we had a great time. This was in spite of Chef Tami though. She was rude and disrespectful from the time we arrived. She yelled at people and used some very unladylike verbiage. It was very obvious she thought we were all idiots. Any time someone deviated slightly from her recipe, she got very irate. It actually worked out well as a team-building event as we all had one common "enemy" - Chef Tami. Seems she watches Hell's Kitchen a lot and secretly wants to be Gordon Ramsey - she sure acted like him at his worst. But she is definitely no Gordon Ramsey! read more

We recently had a team event at Woodhaven Farm. Unfortunately our experience was far from positive. Tami got extremely upset when our team accidentally used all of the risotto for the recipe. The profanity spewing from Tami's mouth was unbelievable! Profanity was abundant and frequent! Pots and pans were being slammed! Where to begin.....we had a large group and we were the second group of the day. We are a very laid back group and enjoyed Tami's humor to begin with but it quickly changed to downright rude. She called people names....micromanaged the cooking and truly made our whole group feel uncomfortable. We would have loved if she would have introduced herself and let us cook on our own, but she constantly took over. She accused us of putting something in the toilet to clog it and when she thought we were all gone she instantly started talking about us.... (2 of us were using the restroom) Considering she was paid very handsomely. ....I would NEVER recommend anyone come here. And it's sad because I have a friend and this is her job.....to find team building activities for a very large corporation. Tami missed out on a huge referral today all because of a NASTY attitude!!!! read more

We recently held a team building event at Woodhaven. "Chef" Tami was incredibly rude from the moment we arrived. There was no greeting or welcome, as she was more concerned about where our drivers were going to park. She became extremely irate if a mistake was made in the kitchen and was very disrespectful to some of our team. Describing this as a cooking class is a misrepresentation, as she didn't provide much instruction and she definitely needs to work on her people skills! In spite of her horrible attitude, our team had a good time because we enjoy each others company and we put together a pretty good meal. read more

I'm a huge fan of the Woodhaven Farm "experience" ! I've booked several events there from a memorable birthday party for 16 to several team building events for 30+....each time the "experience" has been unique, informational but most of all....... FUN!! Chef Tami's one-liners sure get the laughs but it's her knowledge and love of the food that bring out the cook in even the most inexperienced and reluctant guest-participant. I've also attended numerous cooking classes there and have a treasure trove of fabulous recipes. The beautiful surroundings, grounds and wonderful kitchen are over the top making this a true Johnstown gem. read more

Getting ready for the holiday and pulled out my file of favorite recipes--many are from cooking classes and events at Woodhaven. Love the atmosphere, learning new techniques and skills with all the right equipment and with Chef Tami there to give tips and answer questions. It's always fun. Chef Tami quickly sees who needs more help and who in the group has more experience so tasks are often assigned accordingly. Best of all, once the cooking is done, we sit down and enjoy our work. It's a great way to learn and try new recipes and ingredients. (Love the Mediterranean meatballs and Chili Rellenos recipes) My family's favorite Christmas dinner is built around a tenderloin recipe learned at Woodhaven. It's beautiful, delicious, easy and make ahead! It became an instant tradition! read more

My experience at Woodhaven Farm was fun and inspiring. It was a seemingly random part of our team building retreat, and I had no expectations except that the food would be great (I'd read the reviews). Chef Tami gave us the tour (really cool place) and explained what & how we would be cooking. Our crew broke up into small groups and went to work on our part of the meal. I had been a baker in my previous career, and I was all about precision measuring. One memory I will always cherish is Chef Tami walking up next to me and saying (quite loudly) "Are we measuring or are we cooking?!?" She actually grabbed the measuring cup full of shredded cheese out of my hand, and said "That's perfect!" and dumped it in the bowl in front of me. Then she quietly suggested that I loosen up a bit in my technique. Hysterical!! Of the entire retreat, that lesson was the takeaway. Since then, I can barely allow myself to measure anything when I cook (not true when I'm baking). Thank you, Chef Tami, you made a positive difference in my life. Our dear friend planned a surprise outing at Woodhaven Farm. It was a great evening. The cooking level within our group varied and Tami was right there to help as needed and remotely oversee those that were more advanced. Our meal was well-planned and delicious. There were 8 of us and only the birthday lady didn't know what we were doing in advance. If you enjoy sitting outside in a lush outdoor setting watching cottontail bunnies romp around AND you're willing to bring your own wine - then you MIGHT find a moment or two of enjoyment at this place. I spent as much time as I possibly could in the Adirondack chairs outside, counting the minutes until the event was over and I could leave. Our intentions were good - we booked a team event hoping to bond over a shared meal that we prepared together. However, "Tami Time" took it too far. She barked at our courteous drivers as soon as we arrived, belittled me immediately when I asked about which bathroom she preferred I use in the home and then commenced a most despicable display of which I can only liken to a temper tantrum of a 5 year old who isn't getting her way every second. The pièce de résistance for me was when the lovable farm cat happily crawled into the lap of my colleague who welcomed him joyously - and chef Tami walked by and pushed the cat out of her lap, "don't touch the cat", she snarled.
