Fried Catfish
Lindsey O.

Great spot for southern fixings and comfort food. The service is super friendly and the food is good. I ordered the fried catfish and the broccoli cheddar casserole. The fried catfish was good, but the casserole was out of this world. Absolutely recommend it as a side. The biscuits were super tasty as well, and a must. But, by far, the absolute best thing on this menu was the banana pudding - you have to get it!!! Such a perfectly tasty dessert and the most fabulous thing here, although I doubt you could go wrong with any item on the menu.

Chicken and the Egg Biscuit Breakfast
Heather M.

Came here for brunch this week. It was a very cute cafe but just average in my opinion. I had the chicken and the egg sandwich, and my friends had the smash burger and bama breakfast bowl. All of our food was severely under seasoned. More salt and seasoning was needed. I initially ordered the shrimp and grits but they were out of it. It was about 2 hours before closing when we came in. The staff was very friendly and the mimosas were great; they were generous with the champagne! I did not get a picture of the bama bowl. Not the best brunch I've had, but not terrible either.

Breakfast

My day wasn't going as expected so I stopped here for a quick breakfast while in the area. This quaint spot cheered me up! I had a potato egg plate which was almost perfect. Great coffee, great music (a lot of Motown) and the guy that helped me was very sweet and took excellent care of me. I picked up some preserves to take home too. There is metered parking out front that only takes coins so bring a few quarters. The Rosa Parks museum is just around the corner so this is a perfect place to grab a bite while you are in the area.

Jelly that you have to pay 1.25 or more for

The food was pretty good, the service was very pleasant and I love the ambiance. The ambiance is more personable.

We are here last year for lunch and it was pretty good. Brought my daughter in for breakfast today and it was pretty lackluster. Not bad, just not great. Side note:The potato bowl (hash browns) were pretty much dry and out of a bag. My daughters eggs and grits were pretty good though. I qq

Pimento Grilled Cheese Sandwich Lunch
Bethany W.

Woah. The pimento grilled cheese is out of this world. It will make your belly so happy. Everything on the menu sounded so delicious, I wanted to try it all. I settled on that pimento grilled cheese and I'm so happy I did. It's REALLY cheesy y'all. So if you're not a big cheese fan, get out. JK, just order something else. But also, get out of here. They have some sauces that you can add to the side for fry dipping, which I am always a fan of. I chose the mama's sauce and the garlic aioli. Both were great. Definitely make your way here if you're looking for a delicious meal!

Grits and shrimp
Marquett K.

The food was amazing the ambiance is quaint country kitchen style and the employees were personable and friendly. I ordered the southern breakfast sandwich with pimiento cheese, fried green tomatoes and bacon. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits! The biscuit was light and flavorful. The fried green tomato complimented the sandwich perfectly. I wanted more!! The shrimp and grits was good. I only have a picture of the shrimp and grits.

Bacon, eggs, biscuit and vegies

Great breakfast/brunch/lunch spot! This is a great no-frills eatery in downtown Montgomery. The menu is simple and customisable - and we loved that the breakfast menu items were available all day. The staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable. We highly recommend the biscuits and the beignets!

Tomato gravy.

The food tastes worse going down than it did coming back up. Absolutely disgusting. This is not southern food. The biscuits were like hockey pucks. The one thing Montgomery is know for and they managed to screw that up. Don't be fooled by the appetizing image on line. YOU ARE BETTER OFF EATING AT HOME. Ending this now because I don't want to get started on the grits. When it comes to grits they should not try it. Putting cheese on them would have added another 15 minutes to an order time that was already over by 30. Thank goodness I said no cheese. Nothing could save those grits. Unless you ran out of wallpaper paste, that is the only reason to order grits from this place. #eat at home # we got food at home

This place is wild in so many ways. I would have never pictured a place like this existing in…read moresouthern Alabama, yet here it is, thriving and expanding. Allow me to explain. It defies all logic of concept. It's not a restaurant, but it is. It's not a grocery store, but is.... It's not a liquor store, but... It's such an interesting evolution of business man. You could never just start something like this. It's just been percolating for a good while and just evolving along the way. They now are in the whole building they lease as the concept has grown. I love to see a family business evolve and grow! It's call Derk's Filet and Vine. I was thinking steakhouse when I heard we were going here. It is a butcher shop (slash) wine and beer store (slash) grocery store (slash) caterer (slash) that happens to also sell a wildly popular Meat and Three Caferteria Style lunch that lines up people sometimes in the hundreds. Insanity. My reasons for being here are even more insane to be honest. Nonetheless, I am so glad to have had the opportunity to see this place while I am still alive. The folks working here are fantastic! Super helpful and friendly. I dig some AL hospitality! I had never been to Montgomery before. My lunch was too freaking notch!! Yum. Yum! I'll be back. It's in the stars. Written well before you or I were around or awake to realize. Can't wait to eat some fried chicken next time!! '26 - 33

Word to the wise - don't come after 1 and expect a full selection of food. At that point, you'll have to pick from whatever is left, but it will be affordable and tasty.
