The service was excellent! Thoroughly enjoyed the food! Bacon was perfectly cooked which is hard to find. The biscuits are soooo good! We had no complaints other than they ran out of the homemade cinnamon rolls before we got one! We will be back to find out if they are as good as we suspect! Hands down the most memorable breakfast I've had all year. This is the quintessential southern breakfast spot. They're only open on Saturdays and Sundays so you gotta catch em on the weekend. Seating inside is a bit tight but open for groups and there is bar seating. There are several tables on the covered patio as well. The service and the food are impeccable. Several options. You must must try the loaded grits and have a biscuit (maybe 2!) I even took a biscuit to go. The porkchops were huge, fried to perfection, and flavorful. Please be patient. Grit's Cafe isn't playing around when it comes to breakfast. If you show up at opening time, expect a short line to get in the cafe. Once the doors are opened, you just take a seat at whichever table is open. It's a small cafe that's clean and nicely decorated. The servers are friendly and personable. They have a nice selection of breakfasts and everything I saw being delivered to other tables looked delicious. I saw some massive breakfast sandwiches as well. I had the Cajun Omelette which was good but that biscuit was one of the best I've ever tasted. I'd go back for a dozen to take home if they sold them by the dozen. My wife had the Wakie-Wakie which came with Conecuh sausage which was delicious. I will absolutely be back when I'm there this spring. read more

We stopped in for a late breakfast on a Sunday morning while headed to the beach in the gulf, AL. Always happy to try a local spot. The menu here is good. I went with the pork chops, eggs, biscuit and potato meal. My wife had two eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit. There was about a 30-40 minute wait but we were seated as soon as possible and service was friendly. The menu did describe the chops as "thick" so they understandably took a bit to cook to perfection (all items are made to order per the menu), but it was probably 45 minutes from our order to service because of that. Many tables around us who arrived after us got their food first--but again, chops take time. I guess I didn't expect that much time so a quick heads up at order would have been appreciated, but not an overwhelming deal. Eggs were cooked perfect to order for both of us, bacon good, potatoes good. The chops were very good. I did think my plate came with gravy for that biscuit but if so, I didn't get that--but had plenty to eat. Everything was a touch on the salty side (even my eggs had a visible sprinkling of seasoning salt) and the huge biscuits were flavorful but very flaky--so likely even better in gravy. Would definitely try this place again if passing through the area. VERY fair prices, great layout, good folks. read more

Hey there for the first time last week and it was some of the best breakfast food. I've had anywhere in the Montgomery Prattville area. I got the biscuit and gravy and then a Cajun omelette and I gotta tell you get plenty of food. I left there satisfied and stuffed. My partner and I happened to be spending the weekend in Prattville and decided to give this place a try because of a recommendation from a friend. We arrived around 12 on a Sunday and every table was full. We had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated, which was fine. It showed how popular this little joint was. I ordered the special that day, which was a grilled turkey and provolone sandwich with corn salsa. It also came with fries, which was a happy surprise, though a little much. I took home some leftovers. My partner got their pancake breakfast with sausage and he devoured his meal. His only complaint was that he wished for more because it was so good, despite the fact he was so full (the pancakes are for sure hefty). If you find yourself in town on a weekend, definitely give this place a try. It may be unassuming on the outside and a little out of the way, but it is worth it. Stopped by on our drive down to FL for a family vacation. My kid special requested chocolate chips in his pancakes, which was not a problem at all. My husband said his biscuits and gravy was among the best he has ever had. I had never had fry bread tacos before so I was a bit nervous, but my waitress told me it was a good choice (AND she was right). We all really enjoyed our food! We visited Grits Cafe for brunch. Our server was phenomenal. Knowledgeable, prompt and continuously checking on us. We tried a variety of their offerings and enjoyed each dish. We had three different omelets and each was fresh and tasty. Each of us tried a different grit style including cheese, regular and loaded grits. Huge hot, fluffy cat head biscuits. Our grand had scrambled eggs, bacon and fruit. She loved the eggs. Large servings and pretty plating. Fresh, home cooked food made the wait worth it. Because it's a small venue and only open 2 days a week w very limited hours I would not go there unless I don't mind waiting. We were a group of 8 and our wait was a little over an hour to be seated and then an hour until our food arrived . Our meals were brought out two at a time and by the rime the last lady got hers the first people served were finished. The food was good but not really worth a two hour wait. Stopped here on our trip back to Chicago and was beyond impressed. Cute little place, it you weren't looking for it you would miss it. Everything out party of 5 had was amazing! The loaded grits were rich and creamy, pancakes were soft and dense, and the biscuit was EVERYTHING! Sweet staff as well. Holy cow. Driving north on I65 looking for a breakfast spot and found this gem. The biscuits were light and fluffy. No one in our group had grits though. The omelet was light and fluffy.
