After getting an eyeful of Eiffel at Place du Trocadero, packs of tourists appeared to be flocking to Carette for their beloved pastries and desserts. Jamie W and I had already been to the one at Place des Vosges (review: https://yelp.to/HCv2tAEBn8), so we weren't about to wait in the absurdly long queue at this location. Instead we crossed the street to this spot since we were seated right away. That should've given us a clue about the level of quality we were about to experience. Not just food-wise but service-wise, too. We were first assigned a young turk for a waiter, but he got snagged by a large, high maintenance Indian family and eventually disappeared. We had to get the attention of the maître d' who made the mistake of waiting on us since he didn't have time for us either. We kept it simple by ordering a couple of 9,20€ Chocolate Chauds (Hot Chocolates) with the 5€ supplemental dollop of Chantilly Creme (Photo 7). It was just OK. We decided to share the 10€ Crepe Confiture (Fruit Jams). A pair of folded lukewarm crepes arrived with whipped cream and a tiny jar of strawberry preserves (Photo 8). Ah, they expected us to do labor, too. Well, it was no Carette. If this place wasn't positioned in front of the Tower it wouldn't exist. Onion soup had generous cheese but excessive bread and was served room temperature. Also, onions weren't fully caramelized. Escargot was badly overcooked to a point it was chewy and had no flavor, no garlic or butter or herbs. Like bubble gum after its lost its flavor. Waiters were usual French rude and inattentive toward tourists. One even blew he nose into a napkin then went about serving tables without ever washing or sanitizing his hands. Drinks and food were overpriced. I suggest anywhere else but, if you just see the tower from here, consider just buying a coffee or drink. read more

This is exactly what you'd expect for a cafe in a high tourist area. Service is wonderful. It's difficult dealing with international tourists who don't speak French and who expect to be treated like they would at home. Food was exactly what we expected. I wanted to go to Carette, but the line was out the door and my companion was starving. We wound up at nearby Café du Trocadéro. Its main attraction other than not being slammed was the epic view we had of the Eiffel Tower. Other than that, the food was nothing to write home about. I had an omelette with herbs, he had eggs and a croissant as they were out of pain au chocolat. Accompanied this with either a hot chocolate or café viennois. At this point I forget which. My companion had orange juice and Coca Cola that ran us 8 euros. Gimmicky, overpriced, and not worth it except to get something in your stomach and take in the view of the Eiffel Tower. read more

Came here on a Monday night, ordered drinks and they were fantastic. Waited over an hour for our waiter to check on us/take our food order. Once we saw mice scurry out of the restaurant we changed our minds and left, but only after we had to flag down our waiter to give us the check. View of the Eiffel Tower doesn't compensate for the bad service and gross environment. Don't waste your money here, go literally anywhere else. read more

This place was right around the corner from our hotel and we felt like we needed to squeeze in one final cheese plate before our departure from the great city of Paris on the following morning. The location couldn't be better for Eiffel Tower peeping, especially at night with all of the lights and shit. Unfortunately, it was pouring on the day of our visit which kinda took away some of the view vibes and all of their outdoor section was full in any case. They seated us essentially at the entrance which was a bit annoying because my chair was bumped into whenever anyone would walk by. The service left something to be desired. We were tended to within a reasonable amount of time to place our order but after that we had to wait quite a while to ask for the check. Both of us ordered a kir to wet the whistle and our cheese plate of course. The cheese plate was really everything we could've asked for and more but none of the fluffy bullshit you don't really need. They served a bunch of cheeses, at least six, with some dried berry of some sort and a basket of bread. With that much cheese, I really could have used more but I was also considering the "moment on the lips, forever on the hips" logic and was already doing enough damage in the cheese department. One of the cheeses literally was like multiple delicate layers that looked either like a flower with which I am not familiar or a strange mushroom. This was. ORGASMIC. I don't know what the fuck it was but they definitely serve it in heaven. All of the other cheeses were delicious as well. I would also like to add that the olives they serve to start are fantastic. I could eat a whole jar. Ultimately this place is worth a visit but be sure to carve out enough time for the wait. read more

We were hot and tired, but looking for a special meal to celebrate our Paris experience. I asked the matre d if we could sit inside with a view of the Effiel Tower. There were no tables available, but he came to us when one became available. The waiter encouraged us to take advantaged of the opening and moved our drinks and silverware to the other table with a view. We had a delicious meal and dessert to share topping off a memorable last night in Paris. Our waiter was top notch taking care of us and allowing me to work in my petit francais with pure enjoyment. This is obviously a place with high foot traffic, so you shouldn't be surprised about the prices. The reason to come here is to get a seat with a view of the Eiffel Tower as you enjoy a coffee or lunch. If you're not seeing the Eiffel Tower while you enjoy a drink or something, you should not come here. The prices are high and service can be slow. You will need to be actively waving someone down if you want service. It is what it is so as long as you manage your expectations, you won't be too disappointed. I got the burger here which was actually pretty good. When in Paris, I'm all about the Viennese Coffee so I recommend ordering one of those if you're looking for a sugary pick-me-up. read more

Boo Boo and I came here to do the people watching thing while being close to this tall Iron Tower. The boss man was really friendly and let us sit and any available table outside. The waiter was very efficient and got our drink order out really fast. Being outside be wary of a lot of cigarette smoke and asker of spare change. Overall good location for cawfee drink. This salad was gorgeous and massive. It came with sucrine lettuce, string beans, vitelotte potatoes, egg, cherry tomatoes, and crushed garlic cloves. Visited here for lunch while walking through Paris and looked like a nice place to grab a bite with a group of us. The staff was accomodating and seated us quickly and in a nice part of the very large establishment. This cafe is quite large inside and also has outside seating. There is a nice view of the Eiffel Tower here since it sits on the hill overlooking the landmark. The menu here is sandwiches and salads and all sorts of cocktails and beers. The drinks were good, pineapple mule was tasty and beers were good. The food was ok, not anything to rave about, salads were so-so and the seared tuna was not great, it did not fit the prices for the selections we chose, still it was ok and they let us sit for a while since it was raining outside. With all the other cafes in the city, I would most likely not return to this one. read more

We enjoyed our brief tea time. Beautiful view with a wide selection of food choices to make. The only thing that wasn't so nice was how closely you are seated next to each other. Considering the pretentiousness of other Effiel Tower view restaurants and cafes (yes you La Giraffe), this is a breath of fresh air. Wait staff is fun and quick. Demi carafes of wine make it affordable- and on the hour after sunset, the sparkling , fabulous Effiel Tower is there for free. The view, through the trees along the Seine, is very romantic like a Cezanne painting, but a few steps towards the river and the full show is available. Being a Parisian licensed tour guide I often have guests who appreciate this recommendation. read more

The only place that I truly enjoyed the food in Paris! David our waiter was awesome & interacted with our baby girl the entire time. We were immediately seated and tended to. We got the cheeseburger and the braised beef with mashed potatoes, along with some fresh made juices. I know is the my tourist trap next to the Eiffel Tower but i have to give a 4 for the great service (my colleague and I were on the way to the airport and another colleague that was going to stay overnight in Paris said: hey lets go to Eiffel Tower and have a coffee at the Trocadero bistro). Needless to say that I got nervous I would miss the flight but the idea of having a nice last coffee and chocolate crepe in there was attractive enough to calm my phobias. The servers were super friendly, something I would not have expected considering the amount of tourists and locals they have to deal with, some rude some too demanding (as expectations from this type of place are always high). A lady took our luggage and put aside and we got a spot in the terrace, promptly served (as we mentioned we would not have too much time) and got a fantastic crepe and that far away view of my favorite tower in the world. I was walking in the neighborhood with an hour before my flight when I saw this gem. I'm glad I didn't read reviews before going! Food and drinks: I had the salad no gluten and a coupe of champagne. The champagne was great! The salad was healthy and large, with apples, pomegranate seeds, quinoa, and greens. It was a bit heavy in olive oil. I was pleased menu was labeled for allergies. For such a high price point (38€), I was surprised they didn't have gluten free bread. Service: It was fine. Host was welcoming. Server was attentive enough. Food came quickly. Ambiance: This was probably highlight. The place is the nicest "bistro" I've seen, with higher end finishes. Tip: if you are solo and want the Eiffel Tower view without the smoke, ask for the inside tables in the back - great view! A surprisingly nice afternoon experience. read more

I don't know what they think crispy is but these were limp and soggy. It was basically just a side of vEggies. The snails were just ok. The bread was good. I had a pisco sour which was sloppily served with the straw floating in the drink. Service was almost nonexistent. Would not come back and definitely not recommend. read more

I usually avoid 3 star rating in yelp. But saw at Fork- it was 8.3/10. So we took the risk on eating here just because we wanted to have the view of the Tower during dinner. Highly recommend for the ambience. The service is very attentive. Totally surprise with the food. Loved the Escargot de Bourgogne. One of the best that we had during this trip. Big snails, great flavors, love dipping the bread on the garlicky pesto sauce. My 12 year done loved it as well. My wife enjoyed her fish- buttery and moist with crispy skin. My son also had the fish and chips which he demolished. French onion soup is just ok, I think Americans likes move flavor on our French onion soup. read more

Amazing location, ok food, slow service. We got here at the end of breakfast and got crepes, pastries, bread and jellies. The crepes were really runny, but the pastries and bread were good. We wanted seconds on our drinks but no one came for about 30 min after dropping off the food. We waited about another 30 min for the bill to the point we were concerned our server had left for the day. We'd probably come back here for the scene, light food, and drinks if we were looking for a bite in Trocadero. read more

This cafe is located in a really busy location since the Eiffel Tower is nearby, and there's a nice view of it too. The service wasn't great, but we were still able to enjoy our time here. The food was surprisingly better than average, but perhaps it was because it was our first meal after landing in Paris. The fresh juices were good, and I would get the chicken Caesar salad again. For any Americans dining here, just a heads up that there's no tap water available and you'll have to purchase a bottle of sparkling or still water instead. read more
