We will be loyal to this place to our dying day. It helps that it's across the street from the apartment, but we continue to come here because the menu is refreshingly simple and the food is consistently good. The owner is warm and friendly, a big contrast from other restaurants in a city that is often needlessly formal and impersonal.
The restaurant is small and intimate, and has been increasingly busy in recent weeks. It's tucked away on a small side street, so the outdoor patio available during the summer is quiet and relaxed. They offer picnic basket lunches/dinners--call ahead and for the price of a meal you can take your picnic basket to the park, which is 2 blocks away. A wonderful and whimsical idea that I hope will take off.
Entrees are relatively large and could suffice for a small main dish. Mains are well-portioned (meat and vegetarian dishes alike are good), and desserts are wonderful, especially if fruity. They use fresh, high-quality ingredients.
If I have any complaints, they are minor: I wish they would keep more regular hours (during the week it's not a problem but on a Sunday or Monday it's best to call ahead) and they could rotate their menu more frequently (it changes once every month or two months). But both comments are a testament to how often we go--it's not their fault that we will pop in five times in a single month. read more
