So where do we go? We walked up the stairs to get seats and proceeded to the second level barista who then told us to order on the first level. Couldn't have been easier if the barista was more attentive by greeting and waiting for people to come up to order? Anyways, we grabbed the menu and decided to get some drinks as a break from walking. Since it was hot, I got an iced mocha. And honestly, nothing special. It was just satisfying to drink something sweet and cold. Hype? Maybe. Would I come back here again? Maybe if I was desperate enough to sit at a minimal looking spot and try another drink.

That, and unlike Omotesando, this is a proper, legit, HK style shop. It's hard to find. It's weirdly hidden, inside of another business (not telling), on the second floor of a random building (also not telling). The hours are not posted, and I assume are made up depending on how folks feel. Only one of two elevators in the building actually stops on this floor, and you get to figure out which one (still not telling). The door guy, lies to you, and tells you that there is no cafe at all. It's classic, legit, wonderful, slightly crazy, but still delightful Hong Kong. And, when you finally figure out where it is, and manage to make it there, you're rewarded with amazing coffee, and beautiful late art. You're still in Wan Chai, but life is suddenly better. Good luck, be brave, before they relocate.

Since we were here during lunch hour, the kitchen was busy prepping for the lunch crowd. If you want to have full access to the dessert menu, coming here after 3 pm might be more ideal. HeSheEat is a nice cafe to escape the craziness of CWB. Being on the 2nd floor, you have a bird eye view which is great for people watching.

The fries were hot and really good. The grilled cheese was of ample size and super cheesy. The Greek salad was a touch too simple (needed a few more olives I think to punch it up), but evenly coated with dressing and fresh. The desert case is also packed full of great looking cakes, bars and cookies and worthy of a repeat trip (prices in the case range from $68-88). They advertise a special of like $98 for a glass of Prosecco and a dessert! It appeared some couples were wandering in to enjoy this just as we were leaving. Around 7PM when we arrived on a Friday, the place was not busy at all (which I know is bad for business, but preferred by us!). I ordered the iced Americano as my drink due to the hostesses suggestion but found that I was deeply disappointed due to its watery consistency even though the ice added was frozen coffee. After looking at the other drinks fellow diners ordered, I was very impressed by the intricate latte art that was created and will definetly be sticking to my classic extra hot latte next time! For my meal, I ordered the classic poached eggs with avocado on top. I was pleasantly surprised by the choice of feta cheese and sun-dried tomato that accompanied the avocado. I found the bread options to be quite limited as only white and sourdough were an option, and due to the modern nature of the cafe itself I would have expected a gluten free option too. Overall I though that my experience at Artisan Garden Cafe was great as the experience of not being in a typical Hong Kong cafe was enjoyable. It was definitely a relaxed escape from the usual hustle and bustle that you experience in this city. Although a trek from the city, I would definitely recommend this cafe.
