So this place is somewhere between a 4 and a 5 for me, having been a few times over the last few months for really only afternoon coffee and a snack. This place shot up to a 5 for me based on eating a meal there last night. $251 HKD for two meals, a side of sweet potato fries, a glass of wine and a latte...kind of a huge value and really very good! So we popped in because we wanted something other than our standard dai pai dong up the street and/or sushi options and this place is very local and close for us. They have special that with every entree order of over a $100 you get a drink for $1. Shut the front door! My husband ordered a super cheesy grilled cheese sandwich from their grilled cheese options. I ordered a greek salad with some smoked salmon. We also noshed on some sweet potato fries. We then for a $1 each, my husband had a latte and I enjoyed a glass of red wine. The fries were hot and really good. The grilled cheese was of ample size and super cheesy. The Greek salad was a touch too simple (needed a few more olives I think to punch it up), but evenly coated with dressing and fresh. The desert case is also packed full of great looking cakes, bars and cookies and worthy of a repeat trip (prices in the case range from $68-88). They advertise a special of like $98 for a glass of Prosecco and a dessert! It appeared some couples were wandering in to enjoy this just as we were leaving. Around 7PM when we arrived on a Friday, the place was not busy at all (which I know is bad for business, but preferred by us!). It was nice to sit with the open air on the first floor and simply enjoy our time. They have upstairs seating as well and it is closed in, the downstairs part is more open to the outside elements when the weather is nice. I walk by this place almost every day and the busy feeling of brunch on the weekend or packed lunch crowd during the week is different than the quieter evening vibe. The staff was friendly, welcoming and absolutely accommodating. For $251 and a good quality meal, we will absolutely return sooner than later. read more

Fantastically cute, reasonably priced, well located, and yummy! Service was friendly & efficient. We tried 2 fresh juices, kiwi & watermelon - they were a bit pricey at $40 each for a smallish glass, but were really friggin good. Not overly sweetened and tasting of nothing but perfectly ripe fresh fruit. We also ordered one brunch and one main. Oeuf Meurette French style eggs cooked in red wine with chicken & bacon and Barramundi roasted with lime & tomato, served with smashed potato and rocket. So delicious, both. Portions were generous - 2 soft boiled eggs in the breakfast and a large cut of fish in the main. A tip: if it looks full, check up the stairs. There's an entire upstairs dining area! Corner Kitchen Cafe, as they describe themselves, is your neighbourhood kinda joint. We walked into this place after Chachawan told us they aren't particularly vegan-friendly. The server who informed us was nice, polite and explained that we might only have one fried rice dish that they could turn vegan. So we told him that we'd have to excuse ourselves from there and he said he understood. In the middle of the day with the hunger pangs kicking, we just walked a little farther up to see this place. The child wanted to eat french fries. Corner Kitchen had those, and a vegetarian bean burger, a vegetarian chili, and a few other things, so we stepped in, without further ado. The downstairs looks compact, but they have nice cozy seating upstairs as well. My kind of place to get my laptop, a meal or drink, and plug myself in there. Didn't get enough pictures of their setup up there. You still order downstairs, but they'll bring up your food and beverages. I was going to go with the bean burger that came with fries, vegetarian chili and as I was exploring more, I saw that they had gluten-free flatbreads. Yay! for the child who's been asked to be off wheat, dairy, and eggs. My first choice of the flatbread - their Middle Eastern one with hummus, eggplant, and all that jazz wasn't available, so we went with the Greek one - that had tomato sauce, feta cheese, onions, fresh and sundried tomatoes a touch of spinach. I asked them to make a nice strong bloody mary for did. And they did a good job with the preparation. It wasn't overly strong but tasted exactly like a bloody mary should taste. Our foods arrived soon after - the vegetarian chili, the bean burger, and that rice flour flatbread. The vegetarian chili, not piping hot, not as hearty or chunky. The beans could've done with a bit more cooking to be more tender and melting in mouth kind. The quinoa was cooked to perfection, separated grains. It tasted like a chili, but like I said, that heartiness was missing. The burger looked depressing with what looked like a dry, wilted patty. Extra flour-dusted buns didn't add to the appeal, but the taste was great. That smokey flavour of the patty was bomb. They had cheese ducked in between two thin patties. Caramelized onions are always a fool-proof idea for a burger, I think. The fries were good, crisp, albeit low in quantity. The flatbread was more like a rice flour roti. Tomato sauce spread on it, topped with onions, feta cheese, olives, tomatoes - fresh and sundried, garnished with spinach. The child liked it. We also got a fresh mango juice for him, which though expensive, was good and did taste fresh, and not much watered down. Right across the Hollywood Park, it makes a great location for one with kids as well. And the menu is replete with sandwiches, wraps, salads and all. Truly your neighbourhood kinda joint. This place is amazing. Sadly when we were in Hong Kong it tended to just lash down with rain every hour of every day and this meant we spent much of our time hiding in bars, cafes and restaurants. (It's a hard life) This place was like a super cool hipster American style cafe. It had an interesting menu and we selected a chicken & Lemon grass wrap, a roast Turkey and Mayo wrap, fries, and a local Hong Kong IPA. The food was great and so was the beer. If you are looking for breakfast, Brunch, lunch or dinner and perhaps fancy something with a hint of western dining to it, this is the place for you. You order at the counter, pay and then they bring your grub out to you. They also seem to do some awesome looking cakes. I would have given 4 stars if the service had been better. I know its a self-service restaurant, in the sense that you go up and pay for your food before you eat - that's fine! But the staff weren't very smiley or friendly, and when servers are working for tips, you want smiley staff! The food was amazing, great menu, fresh ingredients, reasonable prices! The coffee was amazing - great coffee! The atmosphere and design of the place was really cool and bright. It was just a shame walking up to the cash register, and your first point of contact doesn't greet or welcome you. There are a few things I like about this place: Their peanut butter, caramel crunch, it may be one of the top desserts I've had. Very simple, but delish! Their sweet potato fries, so good! They also have a little happy hour that if you spend over $200 on food will give you a glass of wine for next to nothing. They also have wraps, and breakfast, but what I tried wasn't anything special. I still think the star of the show here is desserts, carrot cake, lemon bars, all very good. The service is something I don't like. I'm not sure if it's a family run shop, or what the deal is but the young girl who is usually at the cashier in the evening is fairly clueless. She has messed up my order numerous times, and is just always difficult to deal with. I usually have to repeat my order 7 times for her to get it. All in all, good place to pop in for a glass of wine and a dessert. :) read more

I am a big fan of Corner Kitchen Cafe and it is a regular haunt for me both for weekend brunch or evening meals. However, I must admit that it is not the savoury options that are the biggest lure for me to come here but the cakes. The Cakes, the glorious cakes, are displayed in a glass cabinet for everyone to admire and this display invariably succeeds in ensuring that I extend my meal to indulge in a slice. Every option that I have tried has been a winner but the true highlights that have stood out to me have been the salted caramel and red velvet cakes. Both are sweet and indulgent and probably contain enough sugar to send you slightly hyperactive for a week but who cares when it tastes that good! The staff are super friendly and the savoury food is good as well - I am a fan of the salmon burger. Put that all together and you have a five star local hangout. read more

I came here mostly because a Sassy review said it was nautical themed and if you should know only one thing about me then it is that I love anything and everything nautical! Sadly, there didn't seem to be anything remotely nautical... The age itself is a small two stories where you order at the till and they bring you your food. The food itself is pretty good, a nice variety of eats and drink options. The decor is very mix and match - we had two tables of different sizes pushed together to accommodate our three selves. It's definitely a busy place on a Sunday and after we had finished eating we were asked to either order more or give up our table which was a little sad as we were having a good ol' chinwag. We were looking for new places to explore for a little girly Sunday brunch love-in. We'd read a few reviews about corner kitchen cafe and were inspired to go, firstly for the food, but mainly because someone had said it was nautical themed and one of the girls LOVES nautical. We were a bit disappointed with the theme - no stripes or life savers in sight .... However, the food was tasty. They had plenty of eggs and sweet brekki treats, however, (and this is my own fault really) I was craving a bagel and didn't feel satisfied when I left. A cute venue, a great view with the park across the street, but I found my food to be underwhelming. This was brunch, mind you. The scrambled egg avocado and feta wrap was literally mush, mush and mush in a wrap. And the English breakfast was a great presentation but uninspired in its execution. I've been told their salads are delicious but I was there in the morning so salad didn't seem fitting. I likely will not repeat (for bland brunch at least) read more

travelled solo here for a few days during vacation and it was so hard to find good places to eat lol. got the croissant sandwich which was underwhelming but the truffle mac was on point. wasn't too heavy or cheesy. Would highly recommend for the western traveler looking for breakfast. We had a very yummy one here. Omelette seemed very fresh and wasn't oversized (our general preference), and vanilla pancakes with fruit were fluffy and delicious, served with just the right amount of syrup in my opinion. Orange juice was fresh and some of the best I've had anywhere and cappuccinos were very good. Not open 24 hours, but opened pretty early and a step above the Flying Pan (although their breakfast is also decent). read more

When I asked for gluten free bread on the menu, they said they didn't have any, when I asked for a corn tortilla, they kept me waiting until my food got cold, I had to go several time. then they wanted to charge me almost as high as my whole plate just for the tortilla. This is a great brunch placed located across from Hollywood Road Park. We have been here several times with the french toast quicklly becoming a staple. The prices are reaonable, and the seating upstairs is comfortable. Pitchers of ice water are provided to help you with your fresh coffee or free flow bloody mary's. read more

Pleasant, good sandwich, right by a park. Prices slightly high I got a fake virus notice from the wifi - no damage, but a little worrisome.

If you can get the right seat then this is an enjoyable hang out but that's easy said than done. I pretty much always end up sitting on one of the stools at the top of the staircase which is far from ideal. I find it hard to look beyond the Asian chopped salad which is full of flavour and they also do a good coffee here. I think it's hit and miss depending on what you order but I'm only saying that because people I've been there with have been disappointed with the dishes they've ordered. read more
