This location was the perfect spot to begin our vacation! The Brie was prepared perfectly. The bread was fresh from the oven. I got the salmon bagel and it was perfection. Chewy bagel and fresh ingredients. Our server, Bernard, was very friendly!

Horrible horrible dinner experience... The service here was extremely slow. Took them 40 minutes from seating us to taking our order. Then, we were told that the special (lamb) was sold out 10 minutes afterward. We changed our order to beef steak with fries and they were pretty good. However, the duck salad order took another 40 minutes after they served us the steaks. They probably forgot the order or they were killing the ducks in the kitchen. In any case, the food was actually decent but the overall service and experience was unbelievably bad. I won't recommend this place (unless you are not a tourist and a French speaker)

My friends and I came here for brunch before we left Montreal. It was a perfect ending. We were recommended by a local friend and everything was perfect here! We got the coffee, OJ, hungry ones, egg Benedict, French onion soup & soup of the day. The bacon in hungry ones was super crispy and tasty. I feel I can eat it all day nonstop! The egg Benedict is very creamy and delicious. I also love the French onion soup, the soup and the burned cheese on the top were great combination. The soup of the day was broccoli cream soup. It was also tasty and smooth. The OJ was fresh squeezed. I don't understand why it's only 3.5 star on Yelp. Everything was so lovely here. I would def come back! PS. Reservation is high recommended since it's always packed here!

My friends and I were visiting the area when we stumbled upon this cafe and decided to give it a try for breakfast and we were not disappointed! This was by far our favorite meal from our weekend in Montreal. Definitely opt to sit outside if the weather permits. They have a shaded area so you can enjoy the outdoors without the sun shining down on you. I got the crepe with maple syrup as well as a soy latte. Both were great. My boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict which he absolutely LOVED. He said it was his favorite he's ever tried!

A classic cafe and a 4-star rating is the headline. Cafe Cherrier is located in the Plateau section of Montreal. I was in here a couple of weeks ago for a business lunch and I had a good meal and a positive experience. Cafe Cherrier was easy to have a conversation in and was a good pick for a business meal. I ordered the confit canard and it tasted just like in France. I had a cream of squash soup before my meal and it was spot on. The house merlot was tasty. The service was better than average. The atmosphere was perfect and exactly what you would expect at a cafe. It looked like they had plenty of outdoor seating weather permitting. I would be a regular if I lived or worked in the area.

I really would have missed this place had I not been trying so hard to look for it and I'm damn glad I did find it. Cafe Cherrier has a beautiful patio that wraps around the store and is nearly covered up by the abundance of plants and flowers which make it a great place to sit for brunch. Our brunch was not too expensive (appx $10-14 / person) and the food was pretty good! I can personally attest for the smoked salmon crepe, the amount of cheese and the holandaise sauce with the salmon made it reaallly tasty. They have freshly squeezed juices which was a plus and their service was A+.

Food is good, service is polite but a bit slow, the restaurant looks nice. A great place for a decent meal at a decent price.

We tried: - complimentary bread, butter, pickles, mustard. I loved this. Never saw another restaurant plop down mustard and pickles. The mustard was also possibly the most delicious mustard I've ever had. Very spicy and slightly salty - Duck confit on beans $37. Tasty, crispy, rich. - Grilled octopus on pepper sauce with potatos $24. Really tender and flavourful. The sauce was bright and acidic - Sorrel soup $13.75. First time having sorrel. It has a slightly sour taste. The soup was creamy and tangy. I'm glad we tried it - Quail with quail eggs on purple rice $37.50. Quail itself wasn't as flavourful but the sauce was amazing and soaked into the rice - Creme brulee $15. Flavour was impeccable. Had a slight grainy texture which was odd but this is just nit picking. Comes with a warm cookie Everything was good. I'm being more nitpicky here than usual, mostly to go back to these notes again in the future. I loved the meal and would definitely go back. Service is very friendly. Food came out super fast. The restaurant is bright and lively. Tables are quite cramped together but it makes sense as they quickly filled up for the evening. Thanks, we'll definitely be back!

I however, would highly recommend their duck entrée meat was so tender and flavorful, and it was perfectly crisp on the outside. Ultimately my best dining experience in Montreal!

BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!

The appetizers were very different from each other but the bison and lamb had similar construction/sauces. Overall a wonderful experience! As tourists, it was fun to try some local wines during the day and buying a bottle to enjoy with dinner here. There was a range of drinks that people brought. We stuck with a light red wine that we got from SAQ down the street that offered a tasting of some local wines.
