Went to Cafe Patachou yesterday morning and had one of the best breakfasts of my trip!…read more The avocado toast was warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The bread was perfectly seedy with just the right balance of crunchy and soft, and they were generous with the avocado. I especially loved the radish and pickled onions on top. Such a simple breakfast, but every bite was so good. And then there was the pistachio iced latte. YUM. I added whipped cream, which really took it to the next level. Honestly, I'm kind of glad I only discovered this place on the last day of my trip because if I had found it earlier, I probably would have had four of those lattes. Great breakfast, great coffee, and now I'm wishing I had one more morning in town!

One of my longtime go-to brunch spots in Indy has been Milktooth, and I'm happy to report the…read morerecent transition to "Arleen's" hasn't changed the things I've always loved about the place. Same great staff, same cool space, same open kitchen where a party of one like me can grab a counter seat and watch the chefs do their thing. I've honestly always enjoyed that part of the experience. Today I had the avocado toast with feta and an egg on top, and it totally hit the spot. Earlier this week I tried one of the newer menu items -- fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, plus a sample of jalapeño cornbread and Asian slaw. Incredible comfort food. And as someone who normally isn't much of a slaw person, I was surprised by how much I loved it. They also tried to tempt me with the roast beef special, which honestly looked great, but at 10:30 in the morning I just couldn't fully commit to roast beef yet. Maybe next time. The new name is a nice tribute to the owner's mother, Arleen, but thankfully it still feels like the Milktooth so many of us have come to enjoy over the years. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been in awhile.

Went years ago and gave a solid review, so figure might as well go back…read more Woof, how times have changed. First it took over 10 minutes for our order to be taken while everyone seated after us was ordering drinks and food. Then we finally ordered, an espresso martini with vodka and a glass of cava with a splash of orange juice. Drinks came out... full mimosa and the espresso martini with sake, yet nobody told us they didn't have vodka until we ordered a second round. Preceded to order breakfast... waffle, slab bacon, eggs, toast, and another slab bacon. Food came, and was fine except we got the slab bacon and then some burnt to a crisp thin cut bacon. Just average at best experience, and won't be coming back. Plus add in 20% gratuity and 3% cc charge. Unfortunately we will pass.

Service (5/5): The gentleman helping us at the counter was really kind. You order at the front, get a number and they bring the food to the table. You have to wait at the counter for your coffee. Ambiance (3/5): Cute diner spaces though a bit too crowded and loud for a breakfast. Lots is kids running around.

We found street parking outside and once inside, I couldn't believe how pretty it was. I heard that it was recently renovated and it shows. It has plenty of seating, free wifi, and a television. I ordered the baby romaine salad with salmon and a side of fries. The salad was pretty much a caesar salad with parm, a crouton crumble, and black garlic dressing. It was a bit pricey and the wait was much longer than I anticipated given we were the only two people in the entire restaurant. That said, the portions were pretty big. The side of fries was enough for a couple people to munch on and the salmon and salad were packed full of flavor. While quite salty, I was satisfied. I would try more of their menu if I happened to be staying here, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. Given that I'm from out of town and visit a few times a year, this is very well a possibility. I'll end by saying the menu listed off a number of local businesses they support by utilizing their product, a local bakery, a brand of cheese, and a juicery to name a few.

Mansion Society - Lattes at this coffee shop never disappoint

FYI to those who may have a physical handicap the prevents climbing steps, there are 2 sets of steps to enter the building, I didn't see any handicap accessible entry when I went there. The area to order coffee was really small and could comfortably fit about 5 people in the line inside the ordering station. There were places to stand in the foyer to wait as well, but in my opinion even though there is an open space in the foyer you could be potentially blocking someone's walking space since the ordering station is next to the entrance and the seating areas are in the entryway. I ordered their seasonal From the Past Latte w/ matcha and whole milk. They mentioned that the wait time to receive the drink was 10 minutes, which was understandable with how busy they were, but to my surprise I actually received my drink in half that time. The drink tasted great and if I was still in the area I'd go there again. I definitely noticed for such a small space, the staff were efficient and moved quickly to get everyone their correct orders. All of them were very cordial and professional as well, so that was appreciated.

It is an apartment building. I didn't do my research prior but learned that it used to be a psych ward. Kinda cool. I got their seasonal coconut lavender latte and a signature Sammy. The drink was great, the sandwich took way too long to prepare (we're talking 30 minutes, no joke). I was only annoyed bc I was so hungry, other than that- I didn't care about the wait bc I had nowhere to be. Overall- If I was in the neighborhood and craving a yummy coff treat, I'd return- I did really like my drink.
