Interior is a bit American as the name might give an hint about. But its nice to have a table outside and the service is among the best I've gotten. So thats a plus. Then we come to the important stuff, the food. The menu is okay and the food also. I rate the food somewhere in the middle for what I've tasted in other places and compared to other restaurants in the area it simply do not provide as good value for money. We stopped a couple of times at this caffe, once for gelato and the second time for dinner. We really enjoyed the convenient location of this caffe just around the corner from Hotel Nord Nuova where we were staying. They have a huge menu in multiple different languages including English, Spanish, French, Japanese among others, which I appreciated. They also deliver to a nearby hotel and the service is crazy fast!! Overall, the food was consistently very good, the atmosphere was pleasant and the variety of menu items outstanding. read more

Me and my wife had a red eye flight so we arrived in Rome a little late. Everything was closing up (restaurant wise) and we happen to walk by this cafe. The outside seating appealed to us and we were warmly greeted. The food was awesome and the house wine was outstanding!!! read more

My wife, daughter and I had lunch at Caffe Washington on our first of 3 days in Rome. All of the pasta dishes we ordered were delicious. We chose outdoor seating and our server was Emanuelo and he did an outstanding job. He is very guest service oriented. He even greeted me by name on my 3 return visits to pick up my takeaway (to go) orders. Horrita assisted me each time with those orders. She was always smiling and happy. I also enjoyed a beer while my order was being prepared. There were other patrons in the bar area having a nice time. In particular we recommend the spaghetti with clams, calamari and prawns, penne, and pizza. Great service, food, and atmosphere. I highly recommend Caffe Washington to anyone. read more

Conveniently located to our hotel. Typical European service; have to flag waiters down for anything. This is probably due to their attention not being tip influenced.Place was appealing due to the variety of options. However, food comparable to a bad American truck stop, (even the Spaghetti). Our son wanted a hamburger. First hamburger he ever hated. He LOVES milkshakes and wouldn't even drink the milk shake. After one bite we flagged waiter down to kindly ask to trade the burger for Chicken wings. You would have thought I asked him to give me 1000 Euros. It was a BIG deal apparently. Waiter asked my husband if he had tried it, as if that mattered. Obviously my son had to like it, not my husband. The bacon and burger was hardly cooked originally. Waiter exclaimed that they sell 100 burgers a day, it must be my son with the issue. They were determined instead to try and fix that burger rather than give us something else. We stayed in the hotel one block away from this resturant. We saw the take_away manu offering half_price. Decided to try their pizza boscaiola, Rigatoni carbonara and Lasagna. They were surprisingly good. The pizza was freshly baked and has just the right texture for the crust. The Rigatoni has tasty creamy sauce. The Lasagna is cheesy with right amount of seasoning. We wanted takeout and came across this place. The staff was a little rude and didn't like the fact that we were getting takeout rather than full service sit down meal at higher cost. We were starving and it was midnight, so in our delirious state we fell into a tourist trap. Bad food, service, and atmosphere. You can tell a place is bad if the waiters are standing outside trying to get customers rather than serving customers inside. Misleading signs (saying they had 5 euro pizza which was a lie) and giving us bottled water when we specifically asked for free water. The waiters were all friendly until they get inside the restaurant. Then they all go outside to talk on their phones and smoke. The so-called house specials (margherita pizza and lasagna) tasted like a crappy frozen dinner and were way overpriced ($36 total). You'd be better off using yelp/trip advisor for a place nearby or not eating at all. read more

Stay away!! Employees work the sidewalk praying on foreign tourists. Food quality is horrible, prices are high, and service is non-existent. Once our waiter took our order, he brought the food eventually and our order was wrong. He wrote down the wrong order and then tried to argue with me about what I said. After that discussion and not even offering to take to correct his mistake, we didn't see him again until we pleaded with the manger to bring our check. We ate here our first night in Rome. The waiter was a bit pushy. He talked us into the small bottles of wine. We each usually only drink one glass. Too much. The lasagne was good. The pasta carbonara was not as good as I wanted. They brought us hard bread and charged us for bread we did not order. Not the best restaurant or dinner we had in Rome, but adequate.
