Ferry traffic and bedroom-community commuters must flood by here. I pulled in around lunchtime and they still have a customer on the other side--2 baristas, 2 windows. The kid who helped me just radiated warmth and kindness. She's a natural for talking to people. She leaned down and worked herself around in the window to make sure she was seeing and hearing me. There's only so much you can do in a coffee hut to seem super nice and thoughtful, and most people go the super-caffeinated, extra-vivacious route. I dug the change of pace here. Hippie warmth and community vibes, without all the moonbeam sparkles. Anyway, the Americano was just great. Maybe one or two ticks toward the roastier side that so many people love so much, but still in my wheelhouse. Under $5, which seems the standard. Paul's warm smile and friendly greeting set the tone for a great experience. I am always so happy when I see him behind the counter. Ashley is another team member who makes my coffee run even better. Always friendly and willing to help me fine tune a drink so it's not too this or too that, she is always patient and kind. They're also expensive - I got an iced 16oz drink with the works and it was over $10 before tip; not getting the fun toppings might drop your total by $1.50-2 but it's still a pricey visit. That being said, I'm giving 4 stars because once you're prepared for the wait and accept the prices, it's a fun treat and the staff are always friendly.
