I still love Strada, and it'll always be my favorite place to go. But darn it, they keep raising the prices. Feels like usury. It's now just as pricey as Starbucks and Peets... the charm of it used to be that it was rock awesome coffee at prices that made you feel like you were walking into your uncle's friend's cousin's shop. It really is a great mix of people studying and interacting that you can only find in a city and a university like Berkeley. Absolutely the best lattes ever. The milk foam is so thick that you can drizzle loads of honey on top and the foam will hold it. I used to stop by here every morning before heading over to the law school auditorium for dreadful bar prep classes. The prospect of Strada's latte each morning is the only thing that got me out of bed that summer. read more

Very happy with this palce. You know they have eggnog what seemed on a regular basis :) Eggnog hell ya. I honestly haven't had that in years now. It made me quite happy. Also hot cider? Am I in a trance? Yeah I was quite happy by this as well. The pastry selection looked good too. I ended up with the espresso brownie ... I felt bad cause I didn't even share with my friends ... but it was sooo good. Anyways, the seating is pretty cool too. i am addicted! strada is the only thing that makes me survive those long, hectic and boring days. I'm there almost every day and have the cappucino 90% of the time ($1.85); it has some of the thickest and richest foam of the cafes nearby. The quality varies on who makes it, but a bit of foam on one day will only have me waiting for the pleasure of the next. Great patio, outdoor heating, open til midnight, great people watching or just a reading spot. And on some of the tables outside, they have lacquered in maps from around the world. My favourite place to study and do homework it's such a chill environment. I live walking distance of about 20 min and I always think its worth it I could spend all night doing homework there. Only thing I do wish is if it were a little quieter sometimes but it is a place to hang and chill with friends so it doesn't matter I love it read more

This cafe was conveniently close to campus with a nice vibe for chatting with colleagues or studying over a drink. They struck a nice balance with the peach ginger iced tea with subtle peach and ginger notes. Hope I'll have a chance to come back again sometime! read more

Ok so the coffee isn't the best and the service is kinda odd (when have you had an all latino crew make/serve your coffee?) but I love Caffe Strada. I worked there for two years as a cashier and I was addicted to their vanilla lattes. The prices are never even close to the scale of Durant Cafe or Starbucks. The patio is awesome during a sunny day and the people watching on that corner is pretty fun. I recommend trying the cakes, they're preally good. read more

Comes close to Bean Street and since it is on my way to work from my house, I often stop in for a latte. They do foam very well here, but many of their drinks come out too sweet. read more

My laptop was snatched at the side door of this caffe today, 1/9/18 around 8:15pm. There were no security cameras around. Ok I got it, that it's a big liability too for the company if they have it. But to think not even ONE STAFF reached out to me and said "We are sorry that this happened to you" while there was more than 8 policeman investigating the crime in their caffe was just out of this world! Appalling!!! Pls consider how bad I felt knowing I stayed another hour trembling (after the event happened while I wait for my friend from Santa Rosa to pick me up) no one just seemed to care from the staff. I wish you will never get to experience what I have experienced and no one from the caffe staff cared to even say any word. I thank the three customers outside that said they were sorry and showed empathy. I will never dine in this caffe at all. Customers, beware! If something happens to you, your on your own! Staff or management from this restaurant will not show they care or even help out!!! Who knows, this is too normal already for them that they just don't care at all! read more

Caffe Strada is everything a student needs in a coffeeshop. Here's what I like: - the outdoor patio is HUGE, lots of seating and they also have heat lamps - the drinks are good...they even have soda for those hot days when coffee just doesn't cut it. - the prices are cheap. $1.75 for a lemonade? that's a deal! - free wifi - you get motivated by all the other students "studying", or at least typing away on their laptops. What I don't like: - parking sucks. if you're going to be here for any longer than an hour or two, you're going to have to keep feeding the meter, move your car, or worse park in one of the garages. if you know a secret parking spot, then don't worry about this. - it can get crowded in here...kind of a double edge sword for studying since it's such a nice place to sit, it just gets kind of loud or you have trouble finding a spot. other than that...this place is pretty cool. Bonus: there's enough cute girls that come around, and since i'm lazy, it's always easier to strike up a convo when they're just strolling in =D read more

Always crowded, you have to "divide and conquer" with your friends (you stand in line while I stare down a freshman for that table over there) to get a seat but its worth it. Bianca Mocha!! Yum! Cheaper and better tasting than its Starbucks counterpart. Tried this drink my freshman year at Cal and it is the only drink that i have ordered since. Ambiance is great for studying or just meeting up with friends. They have an indoor and outdoor area that is always packed with students. I tend to do a drive by and grab a bianca mocha before heading onto campus given its close proximity. read more

This is the perfect quaint cafe! The staff was very helpful with questions and helped me find the perfect drink! (Which was delicious by the way) I ordered the caffe latte which strong and creamy with no bitterness, and one of the best parts is they use compostable lids! Lots of picnic tables outside and cute seating inside, I would definitely recommend bringing a book and hanging out! I also had a chocolate croissant which was pretty good. read more

I shudder to think of how much money I spent here while I was at Cal. It didn't help that I lived half a block away during my time there, but I probably was here 3-4 times a week. During nice weather there are few places better to sit and enjoy some coffee. The drinks are solid, but not spectacular and there's a decent array of cakes and pastries. There would be no Cal experience without Strada. While I was going to school at Cal, I had numerous study meetings, GSI discussions, professor Q & As, and even the occasional date or two here. When I first imagined myself going to college, having the quintessential college experience, it included wowing my professors with witty insights, impressing hot (but smart!) men with my vastly improved fashion taste and incredibly verbose conversation, taking part in every extracurricular/rally/drunken frat party that occurred, and most importantly rehashing all of the above with my new cool friends at a coffee place just like Strada. The coffee is great, the people who work here, if you take the time to get to know them, are even better. My roommate/close friend worked here the last year and a half we were at Berkeley, so Strada quickly became the place to meet up at, a regular stop in the mornings and usually a much needed relaxation on the way home (I probably spent more money at Strada in two years then I did on books for all four years considering it was two blocks away from my apt). You never know who you'll meet at Strada, what dogs will cross your path, who will be discussing the hook up from the night before or who will be discussing the history of apartheid in South Africa. But I can guarantee that when you sit down at one of those wobbly outdoor tables that you had to wait a good half hour for, and take a sip of the coffee that probably could be a little better but still tastes heavenly, you'll sigh and think to yourself, "This is what life (and college!) is all about". P.S. Since I am reviewing the place and it's not all nostalgia, they got a star off cuz they don't accept credit cards which was hugely annoying for me since I rarely carry cash. And, as a tip, do not ask for a freaking frappucino, this isn't Starbucks people! Oh and if you do sit inside on a rainy day, be prepared to smell like espresso when you leave...my roommate who used to work there came home smelling like skunk, in her words, every day! read more

Strada is absolutely spectacular. It's not just for students -- since who doesn't love very reasonably priced, quick, wonderful coffee and espresso?! The people are very nice, the pastries are good, and the atmosphere is unbeatable. Also, it is among the best coffee in Berkeley, not weak like Starbuck's! read more

This cafe is pretty amazing considering the wifi isn't terrible, they have a good amount of seats (that are usually filled but it gives me hope) and the fizzy green tea macha is very good. I have yet to find an outlet but I usually come knowing I'll be sitting outside. I like to come early when its warmer out but its good to know that theyre open later as well. read more

After two and a half years, I finally got something here! I got a latte and granola bar. The latte was pretty good; it wasn't too bitter. Service is fast and prices are reasonable; I'm not a huge coffee drinker but now I know where to get decent coffee near campus. The granola bar was okay. I don't really like coconut flakes, so that was the big turnoff for me. If there weren't coconut flakes in it, I probably would have liked it a lot more. I definitely want to come back and try some of their other drinks. read more

Lots of outdoor heated patio areas full of tables, which, in turn, are always full of students. They also have free wireless. The coffee is good but I've mainly only gotten the lattes or white chocolate mochas there. Delicious and cheap. read more

Love getting lattes here and putting tons of brown sugar in it. I also get the macademia nut chocolate cookie too. By boyfriend and I used to come here really late, get coffee and walk around. That, of course was when I was underage and lived in a town that had no night life so this place is a bit sentimental to me. read more

Well I had an iced soy chai and they had technical difficulties in the kitchen. 3 drinks later they handed it to me. So I know this place is all about serving your basic coffee drinks and nothing fancy. I'll note that for next time. The patio is off the hook. I sat there and studied with my drink, which was ok. I will go back because I had a gift certificate but I'm really hoping that Berkeley has some better coffeehouses than this place because the chai was boring. read more
