Our #1 go-to weekend brunch spot even after moving out of Norwalk over a year ago. My wife has high brunch standards and since moving to the Norwalk area in July 2016, we've tried over a dozen of the brunch spots within a 20 min drive of us. But our endless perfect brunch spot search has ended since discovering Caffe Social in Dec 2017. It's exactly what we were looking for, a warm and cozy small business that serves fresh, honest, and well prepared breakfast fare. The perfect start to a Sunday funday with our two little girls, and a place we always take out of town friends to. The three female sister owners are all fantastic, and Glika is especially welcoming every time we are in there. Aside from the warm, friendly owners and eclectic and tasteful interior decor, the food here is fantastic as well! They serve a wide variety of quality coffee drinks, and while I have never been here for lunch it looks like they have some boozy options as well! The food is very consistently prepared, and my standard order is the Bacon Cheddar omelette with a side of sausage. The best part of this dish is the side of hash browns that it comes with. Think gourmet McDonalds hash brown, that is crunchy and crispy on the outside, but warm and buttery soft on the inside. They should serve this hash brown with more dishes or even offer it as a side, because more of the brunching world need to experience this. It's sooooo good. My wife is a fan of their avocado toast, which is a lemon avocado spread with grilled tomatoes, fried egg all served on multigrain toast. And there is just something magical and special about their pancakes that keeps my 4 year old toddler craving this every weekend. They are light and airy, yet have that quintessential perfect pancake balance and flavor that always has us saying "Daymn, that's a good pancake." All the seats here fill up fast during brunch, and it's no surprise. Caffe Social really offers everything you would want and hope for in the prefect brunch spot. My favorite brunch spot in Norwalk, hands down. They have weekly changing specials where they are always debuting creative and delicious meals. I personally opt for the sweeter options like french toast or pancakes, but the various takes on eggs Benedict always look awesome too. The service is pretty good, but the place is always super crowded, and the set up doesn't allow for the most comfortable atmosphere. Thought to try this place. We live 10 mins away from the cafe, we called and asked if there is a wait before we left home. They told us there is no wait. We got there in less than 10 mins, and they told us there is 20 mins wait. We choose to stay because we already paid the parking. However, while we were waiting we noticed there are five tables of customer (2 tables of 2, 2 tables of 3-4, 1 table of over 6) waiting for their order to be taken, 2 table (1 table of 2 and 1 table of 4) are waiting for their food, 3 table is eating, 3 groups sit in the bar and only 1 of then have their food. Plus there are 4 groups waits for table before us. Simple math, there is no way we will be seated in 20 mins. It is not nice to lure customers in by telling them the fake waiting time information (1st, no wait; 2nd, 20 mins; both are lies) and knowing most of them would stay because they would all paid their parking in advance. Came here for Saturday morning brunch with friends. The decor is great- very trendy and the place was packed (which makes it VERY loud in there) but I was excited. They have a ton of super hip coffee items to choose from but I stuck with water. Myself and a friend ordered a special, which was chicken and waffles! Fried chicken on waffles with eggs and this cheese gravy and potato wedges. My other two friends ordered the kale omelette, and we ordered a plate of chocolate chip waffles for the table. The omelettes were okay per my friends- portion wise they were HUGE but it was due mostly to the amount of kale stuck in there. Came with sweet potato home fries which were fine. Nothing remarkable. Our chicken special was again a very big portion- but it was the most unseasoned plate of food I've eaten in a long time. Seriously, if it wasn't for texture I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference in taste from the chicken to the eggs to the waffle. The breading in the chicken was perfect and fried great- it just tasted like nothing. As did the eggs and the waffles until I smothered them in ketchup salt and syrup. The cheese gravy was waaaaay thick and they poured SO much all over the bottom waffle, essentially disintegrating that waffle which was not appetizing. Plus, the dish was $18! Yes you get a lot of food, but I am not exaggerating when I say it was FLAVORLESS. The chocolate chip waffles we all shared were fine but it's kind hard to mess those up when you just pour a ton of chocolate chips over batter. The other low point? The service. We had to be somewhere by 1 pm so when we got sat at 11:35 we all took about 5 mins and placed our order. We timed it- our food didn't come until 12:25 after we finally asked! I get you're busy but it's not a huge place and our server was no where to be found. Overall, the plates all LOOKED good, but couldn't deliver on taste at all. Let down after trying Caffe Social again. They charge NYC prices but don't deliver on quality. I got an omelette and swapped the home fries for a hashbrown and everything was a miss. The omelette had zero flavor and the hashbrown was too greasy. It was advertised as $15 but was charged $17. I imagine they upcharged because the pandemic but I think it's only fair to be transparent about it, not slip it into the check without notice. I'd rather pay more for great food but I feel ripped off. Speaking of ripped off, we also wanted to try the brunch special: pumpkin avocado toast. For TWENTY dollars you get two pieces of white bread with some pumpkin and avocado smeared on it, an egg, and seeds. This cost was also hidden and the dish did not impress. I know fancy toast doesn't come cheap but that felt a little steep. A large, underwhelming chai latte was $7, and that only makes me wish I'd gone to Starbucks. I would rate lower if it weren't for the staff; they were very kind and accommodating! Ultimately, I got the impression that this place has a "because we can" attitude, being in SoNo. I think this will be our last visit. read more

Stopped here before recent trip to Walmart. There was a wait for outside seating so we gladly sat indoors. Very clean, cozy establishment. Staff was friendly and helpful. I believe one of the owners was even seating patrons. That always stands out for me because it shows a connection with the customer/staff/pride in ownership.The food is good, nothing over the top but that's fine with me. The menu is short but I prefer that so you're not overwhelmed. It reminds you of breakfast in your own kitchen. Waited 50 minutes in the rain for breakfast ( this morning) after I was initially told 30 minutes. The woman taking the names (blond woman) asked me if my party was available I said yes. She said I would be seated in 5 minutes. I had my children waiting in the car due to all the rain. She never checked back in with me, even though I was standing by the front door. When I asked why she let everyone else in and left me waiting, she stated she "assumed" I was still waiting for my party. She said I could wait for another table to open!!!! I Was excited to try this place but the chaos and lack of organization was a mess! Who knows what the food/ cleanliness is like if people forget about you or to sit you down. Overall pretty standard issue- but just a terrible value. I have no problems spending good money on food/service that's worth it but overall, just unimpressed with the brunch menu. You're much better off with virtually any diner (which there are many around here). And 4.00 for some iced tea? Really? If it were actually good iced tea I would totally understand but this tasted like some white label Sysco tea. I'm sorta an iced tea snob though (its pretty much all I drink when out - unsweetened for Service overall was acceptable- good. The only things I don't like about Caffe Social are the long lines and short hours. I get it, it's breakfast and lunch food, but I would personally get it for dinner. They close at 4pm. I wish they stayed open later, but I get it. Their menu is huge and very unique. As large as their menu is, the drink menu is even larger. My husband loves the frappe. Just note that if you want it sweet let them know. Otherwise, your drink will be sugarless and very bitter, by default. I tried the white raspberry hot cocoa. It was delicious, but a bit too sweet for my taste. The iced teas are outstanding. I'm partial to the peach flavor. For a filling breakfast or brunch option, try the sweet and savory sandwich - bacon, sausage, fried egg, American cheese, maple syrup on a pressed homemade waffle. Can't go wrong with that. For lunch, the spring salad is delicious. I got it with chicken added on and it was a perfect filling lunch. I'm partial to fruit in my salad, so it's right up my alley. The one thing I would say is I wish there was more feta. The service here is very friendly. When it's busy, understandably, the server doesn't always have time to check in with you. Getting a drink refill may not be so easy, but if you see the crowds you'll understand. They work very hard to keep up. The servers don't wear masks, so be aware if that's a dealbreaker for you. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is although the food is very reasonably priced, the drinks are ridiculously expensive. $6.50 for a latte with Nutella, $7-$8 for a hot chocolate, $5 for an iced tea...the coffee is very good but it's more expensive than even at a high end coffee shop! Meh... I might give it a second shot. A bit pricey for what you actually get. I went mid week before noon after seeing the reviews and I was disappointed. Menu looked promising but pricey but I love breakfast and will pay for greatness. For a$15 dollar omelette I was unimpressed. It was very good but not worth the cost. The garlic kale stuffing was good but a bit strong ... I love garlic but it just didn't work. As much I appreciate the attempt at sweet potato home fries they were lousy. Homefirss shouldn't be mush ... and yams are notorious for just having that consistency. A for effort but doesn't work. And maybe for $15 bucks throw in some bread?? Or a life of fruit ?? The cappuccino was served warm .... I could have let all this slide but the meal with tip was about $35 thanks to an $11 mimosa that was mostly OJ?? Weak sauce .... no unlimited with weekend brunch and no option to buy a bottle for "make your own". My preference.... people will eventually demand a better drinking price and hot coffee !! Came here twice this past weekend. Amazing experience on both occasions. First day: I had the potato salad and the Italian panini. I typically don't like cold cuts on pressed sandwiches. However, the pesto paste and the melted cheese with the assortment of meats blended very well. The potato salad was an interesting spin of your traditional mayo based salads. They chose to season with dill, olive oil , and light spices. All very interesting and obviously delicious. Second day: Had the brunch special - fried chicken and waffle benidict. Best Breakfast Spot around SONO. Family run, and you can see it in how they care of the place. Large menu which covers all the bases you'd expect for a breakfast lunch spot. Wide selections of coffee drinks, and limited cocktails. I love their outside during the season, as it's great for bringing my dog to hang out also.
