Everything just looked really appetizing. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away, and the wait staff was attentive. I ordered the sweet and savory which was a bacon, sausage, egg, and cheese on a homemade waffle with maple syrup. It was amazing because the flavors worked really well and they definitely didn't skimp on any of the ingredients in it, especially the sausage! My friend got the Caprese panini which was also a great size and super tasty! The only thing is her fries were a little soggy and pale, but not terrible. Subpar review attributed towards the mediocre food and portions. Our group got the lox benedict, challah French toast and caprese panini to share. You gotta pay up the $2 per fruit topping on the french toast- expect to get one strawberry sliced up and ten blueberries for a whopping $4. This place is ADORABLE for a breakfast date or just breakfast with friends. The spot is super hip & the menu has something for everyone. I got an iced salted caramel latte. It wasn't overpoweringly sweet which was nice ! I ordered the salmon & avocado on a sesame bagel. It has this delicious avocado lemon spread which pairs so nicely with it. I'm a huge egg white fan & it came with egg whites already! The red onion gives it a nice crunch & flavor! My boyfriend and I split the pancakes & they put a butterscotch spread on it (which was a special but they had some left!) & we topped it with fresh strawberries, blueberries & bananas. Before visiting Caffe Social, I'd probably laugh if you told me I'd be ordering avocado toast from a menu brimming with fully loaded breakfast sandwiches, decadent eggs benedict, and carbalicious challah french toast. It's just not really my thing. But when I saw their seasonal special on the menu, I knew I had to have it. Backing up, the space is gorgeous - a stylish mix of industrial design with lots of greenery and earthy, natural elements. All the best parts of what's trendy lately. There were 8 of us (plus a baby) for breakfast and the servers could not have been more wonderful and accommodating. Back to the food - I ordered the avocado toast special, which combined an avocado lemon spread with feta cheese, chopped bacon, watermelon and mint. I'm going to steal their idea and make this at home all the time - the flavors were so summery and amazing. Really, everyone loved their food. My husband opted for the sweet & savory - bacon, sausage, fried egg, American cheese, and maple syrup on a pressed homemade waffle. I think half the table ordered that and for good reason. How you know your among uncaring, awful staff is this scenario. you are with 4 kids and patiently wait for a table that they say is waiting to be cleared. All good. That takes 15 minutes to happen. Fine. We sit down and order. After 25 minutes I simply ask the waitress if she could find out how much longer the food will take. At that point, the waitress says you haven't been here that long but checks her computer. Fine. THEN, she goes into the kitchen to ask the chef who then proceeds to yell at the waitress, telling her to loudly "go back to the table and tell them it will be another 30 minutes", clearly pissed off that someone had the audacity to ask her how long it would take to feed kids. At that point, I got pissed. This place may have decent food but I didn't stick around. Be prepared to wait an hour or more to get served eggs and a burger. caffe social is one of the best places ive been to in norwalk to eat. the staff is always attentive and their service is pretty fast and steady. even on their busiest days they always make sure to greet me when i walk in and seat me as fast as possible. today i saw a horrible review regarding the cafe. i wanted to say that i was there today around the same time that the other ladies, estee and sara + the other two, were there and caffe social was packed at that time and they still managed to always get around table to table always checking on us and always making sure everything was good before they went on to the next table. their food probably took around 20-25 minutes to actually arrive after placing the order, not an hour like that person mentioned. i only know that because we were a table next to them and we ordered 5 minutes after them and ours came pretty fast regarding the fact that the whole inside and outside was full of people waiting for their food. another odd thing that i found was they mentioned paying $26 for a burger? which if you see in another review they posted the receipt paying $19.95. ive also had that burger once or twice when ive been and its $20 the most. and it comes with a side as well. if you go to restaurants anywhere youll see they charge for any extras you put in anything. its a business and if you have a business you know thats whats right and thats how it works. both of the people who wrote a review mentioned that it wasnt the best experience but they were very giddy and everytime the busser/runner went around they were very excited to talk to her. same goes for the waittress as well. she was very attentive to everyone and she does her job very well. im a customer who goes almost everyday because everyone there is very welcoming and not only that, the variety of food they have is incredible, and their portions are very reasonable. Great new place in the neighborhood. Went here for lunch the other day. Big menu for lunch, we settled on the grilled cheese sandwiches, yes grilled cheese. My wife had grilled onions, mushrooms, Swiss cheese on rye bread. I had the spicy version with grilled peppers and spicy cheese. Additionally we split an order of Greek fries, good as well. There's parking in the back, you need to go down to Marshall St and pull into the old Brew House parking lot or you can park across the street at the movie theater or if you're really lucky you can snag a spot on the street. Well, the beaches were all closed due to high bacteria after the storms, so that was a bust. The sister on the floor was rude and curt to us- there were 2 empty tables but she said our entire party needed to be present- 1 person was missing. I totally understand when there are people waiting but we were the only people waiting and 1/2 hour later, she sat one woman at a table for 8 while she waited for her party. So unfair. The food is good and creative but I don't like being treated like this.. manners seem to be a problem for some . The service is lacking- no one came to see if we needed refills and napkins - you get one napkin wrapped around the cutlery and that's it- had to ask for an extra. The menu looked amazing and the prices seemed wayyyyy more than fair that I thought I was back in the Midwest. The location was in beautiful downtown SONO with limited surrounding street parking so keep that in mind. I liked the decor. It was modern but cozy and eclectic, as well. The service was amazing. We were told a 20 minute wait, but seated in about 10. They had glass dividers everywhere. The servers were flying...probably because they were packed and people were were still willing to sit outside in 40ish degree weather for this place. LRoth got a smoked salmon/guac/egg bagel sandwich. I got a Kielbasa omelette. It was well cooked, and they didn't skimp on the cheese, which I loved. We got an order of the challah French toast. I thought that was pretty good. It wasn't my favorite and didn't blow me away, but still good. They also have Micheladas, which is my absolute favorite...well made with plenty of spice.
