I have experienced something awkward in this cafe last Sunday. My husband, my son, and myself walked in. I ordered a latte first and got back to my son and his troller. While folding the stroller, the young woman behind the counter asked me what size I want and how I like my coffee to be made. After that, my husband continued to place his order for coffee and a cookie for my son. He later told me that the man working with the young woman at the time asked him if he would pay for my coffee. I find this quite awkward, for it seems to be obvious that we are a family. I like the atmosphere of the cafe, yet I think there is room for improvement, especially for customer service. read more

We stopped by for coffee and grabbed it to go and sat outside for a few minutes. As soon as we were about to sit one of the people outside who was arranging the chairs yelled at us telling us we can't sit outside with drinks from elsewhere. When we corrected her and told her that we indeed made the purchase at her cafe she just looked at us and continued whatever she was doing. Clearly we were not wanted there and we felt uncomfortable sitting there. The treatment she gave us in the moment made us feel inferior and unwelcome. As customers we aren't trying to spend all day there even though other customers sitting around us were clearly sitting there for hours with their purchases long gone but I'm guessing something about us wasn't necessarily fitting her criteria I presume. Best place in Bay Ridge for coffee & tea. You can spend your morning chilling at the tables or work inside on your computer until 12. There is no other place in whole neighborhood with such a friendly environment for people, who doesn't want to have the whole breakfast and still go out. The coffee was OK...but it is 10.99 a lb and when I can get it half off at 3 Guys from Brooklyn, it makes it hard to want to come back. Hilarious Guidos on dates. The espresso is pretty bad, thus anything made with it's going to be pretty bad... the actual coffee is whatever. They have table service, which can make getting drinks here pricey. I don't mind though, since there aren't many other non-corperate coffee houses in the 'ridge. The interior is cozy, and the atmosphere screams, "First Date!" which is almost always paired with, "Your Mother would think this place is soo cute!" They get an A for service. I got a personal sized French press (decaf strawberry chocolate is an interesting flavor) and they even showed me how to know when it was ready. The staff was nothing short of completely polite and helpful. The atmosphere is partially leftover from some previous business, so you can enjoy the old fashioned ceiling tiles and the wooden ambiance, but with the coffee mug decorations on the wall and the classic glass soda bottles behind the counter (not to mention the coffee dispensers on the walls) they also made it their own. My husband and I just moved to Bay Ridge and we needed to find good coffee and a muffin for our daily breakfast. I happened to stumble upon Caffee Cafe while walking my dog so I suggested that my husband and I try it out. Caffe Cafe was super cute with knickknacks all over the store. So we thought this had to be a good place. We ordered a coffee and 2 muffins (blueberry and cranberry) and were a little disapointed, the coffee was served to us in a styrofoam cup and the muffins were just ok. I was thinking next time I go to Caffe Cafe I'm going to bring my own mug. Their coffee bean selection saved them on the star rating. My husband was able to buy whole bean coffee that was super awesome. read more

Well I was looking for a another place when I stumbled in here. Service was fast and friendly. Plus the iced coffee I ordered was on time. I had the Iced Latte...they frothed the milk and it tasted delicious. I really don't mind if the barristas don't froth the milk. Come on its iced coffee! Plus I walked over to Jean Danet and had some frigging awesome cream puffs to go with this coffee. Coffee was flavorful and good, definitely would return when I am in the neighborhood. read more

I've been here a couple of times already with my friend. Mostly the girls working in the afternoon take 10 mins to take an order, regardless if you're sitting inside or outside. They have table service and even if you order at the counter, they don't make you pay until you're ready to leave. Message: They're not Starbucks. I checked in on Yelp and received 10% off my latte. They take cash and credit. When I first came in and asked whether they have outlets, the cashier asked whether I was staying. Hmm, odd question. I responded that I am buying something, even though her question didn't address that I knew what she meant. I then asked her whether she has people come in and just use their Wi-Fi and not buy anything. She said only once. Not sure why she felt I might not buy anything, but my buying something was dependent on whether I could find an outlet. And I wish they had a bigger selection of treats and sandwiches. Also, at least two of the employees were eating Carvel behind the counter while working. Overall, it's a decent spot and they won't harass you after you've made your purchase. I generally love neighborhood coffee shops. Unfortunately, this one doesn't make my list of 'loves.' It's borderline between 'ok' and 'don't care much for.' It was a Friday night and it was somewhat busy. Two waitresses and 1 guy making the drinks. We ordered a regular coffee, chai tea smoothie and almond poppy muffin. It took about 10mins before we got our orders. Coffee was coffee. The muffin was okay but I think they order those in. Not made on premises. The chai tea smoothie was a bit watered down. Not sure if it's because of the vanilla ice cream which took away some of the zing you usually taste or if it was the crushed ice. Definitely not worth the $6.50. I settled in at a table, but was told not to sit there because they'd be working on something. OK... I order and move to another table. Caffe Caffe is a regular option for when I or my girlfriend want to relax for a bit and get our caffeine fix. I have been to this place many times and have always enjoyed what they had to offer. They offer a very nice indoor seating area with an amazingly chill vibe. In warmer weather they also have seating outside. The service is usually very good. Maybe a bit slow on more crowded days but it can never be considered poor. Their drinks are not bad but they are also not spectacular. Where Caffe Caffe trumps most other coffee shops is in the sheer number of drinks available to the customer. You could come here every day for a month, ordering something different each time and still not make it through the menu. They also have a staggering amount of coffee/tea type to buy and bring home. Good ambience. Cute interior! Nice coffee, but not the best. I find that at times the flavored french press coffees get a bit chalky. I wish they would give you real mugs instead of paper cups too. However, they do have an awesome dessert- I believe it's called the fruit tart. It's fruit in a tart shell with powdered sugar and perhaps a little creme (if my memory serves me well.) It is fantastic, light, and perfect for sharing. They are absolutely sweet at Caffe Cafe, and the Italian sodas and other mixed coffee drinks are really fun and tasty. There is outdoor seating in the summer and it's a perfect place to go when you just want to be out, but you don't want to be at the bars. read more

This coffee shop is very spacious and has a nice ambiance. They have cute teacups all over their shelves. There are also many tables, so it should be easy to find a place to sit. It is also much quieter here than it is at a Starbucks or other common coffee shop that gets more visitors. They also have a lot of speciality coffee drinks that can be served hot or iced. The drink that I got here, an iced caramel latte, was very good. However, I have two complaints about this coffee shop: 1. They have a huge menu, with about 7 pages worth of different drinks. However, when my friend and I went there, the baristas lacked the ingredients to make the majority of the drinks that were listed on the menu. My friend and I had to go through at least 10 things on the menu before we were able to order something without being told "We are currently out of this kind of tea," or "We don't have this type of coffee", or "We don't have this dessert right now". 2. When we came asked, we were asked if we want to sit down. We said yes, and then no one came up to us with a menu for about 10-20 minutes. There weren't many customers when this occurred. It would also be helpful if they have menus laying out on the counter. There was absolutely no pricing anywhere, so if you are standing in line to order a drink to go, you can't determine what you want to get until it is your turn to order. read more

9:30 pm a quiet Sunday evening my sister and I walked in to grab coffee. I have been here a few times and I actually liked going here until tonight. Usually the staff is super nice and friendly. As soon as we walked in, before getting up to the counter, a woman (whom I found out after is the owner) aggressively screams across the room "Take Out Only". There was no hello no greeting whatsoever, just straight up yelled at us for no reason. I don't need a greeting for a coffee shop but it was what she said in the manner she said it. There are plenty of ways to communicate to a customer your "closing soon". Needless to say they close 10 and we werent even looking to stay, plus there was a couple seated having coffee so its not like they were closing at that moment . We were actually not looking to sit. I was in disbelief how a person could treat someone who is a paying customer that I didnt say anything but now wished I have. After reading the comments below, this further proves something is wrong here. Sad because I liked going there but not that much to go back. I feel bad for the stafff who work there. I liked the fact that it was always empty.. never too many people there.. great place to enjoy a snack and coffee by myself I thought.. Until I realized why it was always empty!! It was an early afternoon and I ordered a coffee and a couple of snacks/pastry *to stay *(as there was absolutely no waiter or waitress present ) I got no response and then after paying and tipping generously (as I always do) I was told abruptly that I "couldn't stay there".. I looked around at the empty store and smiled at the woman as I honestly thought she was kidding.. I said "you're pulling my leg, right ?!!" and I giggled..She said "No, I'm not kidding!!." As she nodded outward...I asked "Are you closing soon, Dear ?".. She said "No.. you just can't have it here!!!. only to go !!!".. I was dumbfounded and as I walked home took a sip of the crappy coffee I regretted the money I spent and especially the tip !!.. Almost glad to see it wasn't an isolated event ... Came here during my lunch break to grab coffee and something to eat. I ordered coffee at the counter but was still indecisive so I sat at a table and the waitress brought me a menu. I sat here for over 25 minutes drinking my coffee and reading the news and she never came back to take my order. While I was sitting here, the owner was on the phone in the main dining area yelling at American Express for them charging her a fee, but they don't take Amex. It was very rude and very disruptive to the customers trying to enjoy their coffee and lunch. There is no need for the owner to be conducting her business in the main dining room with customers present. Overall, a very poor experience and only mediocre coffee. One of the main stay coffee houses in Bay Ridge... Love this place for there Cappuccino but even there regular drip is very good. As soon as you open the front door you smell the aroma of fresh ground coffee fill the room up... In the summer they have nice outdoor seating you can sit there and enjoy a nice iced coffee and people watch 3rd Avenue... Not too many places like this left with all Dunkin donuts and Starbucks all over the place....But if you really think bout it...it's place like this that "they" stole the idea from....
