The "Monte Cristo" with "challah bread". Monte Cristo - A grilled sandwich with toasted bread and melted cheese is placed on a white disposable plate. The sandwich is cut diagonally into two halves, revealing the filling inside. In the background, a menu from a cafe or restaurant is visible, listing breakfast, salads, main courses, and sandwiches. The menu includes items like Monte Cristo, French Toast, Caesar Salad, and Chicken Schnitzel. The setting appears to be a casual dining or cafe environment.

Ordered the Monte Cristo, that specifically says it comes with Challah bread. DOES THE PICTURE BELOW LOOK LIKE CHALLAH BREAD TO YOU? Thr worst part about it is that, the lady at the grill proceeds to tell me this is Challah bread. Waste of money and time. Do not come here.

a piece of cake on a plate - A slice of dessert featuring cream, berries, and nuts is placed on a white disposable plate. A spoon rests on the plate's edge, and a coffee cup is visible in the background. The setting appears to be outdoors with sunlight casting shadows on the table surface.

This place is a must try. Today I had Shakshuka, Latte, meringue raspberry roll and homemade lemonade. Everything was amazing... freshly made and with so much flavor. Counting the days till my next visit. Last week I had Syrniki. They were the best I ever had. They have many breakfast, lunch, and snack options. They also take special orders. Horrible place! Dirty, rude and bad attitude towards the client. I will never go to this cafeteria, even if I die of thirst

The good first: the pastries did taste fresh (not stale or frozen), and the chocolate éclair itself was genuinely tasty -- smooth filling, balanced sweetness, and the best item from my order. But the execution + value were disappointing, especially for the very high prices vs to prices and sizes for similar items in multiple nearby bakeries. Packaging / delivery issue: the two éclairs were put together in one box without being secured, so during transit the chocolate ganache rubbed off and smeared onto the mango éclair. For $7 per éclair, that's not acceptable -- they need to separate or secure them properly. Almond croissant: very small and had only a thin layer of almond filling with NO sliced/shaved almonds, which is not what you expect from a classic almond croissant! Raisin & custard croissant-many people think of as a "raisin + custard spiral", traditionally called Pain aux raisins (also known as an escargot). This one tasted fresh, but had no custard at all -- basically a raisin spiral without the cream component. Mango éclair: the filling was bright orange but tasted strongly acidic, extremely sour, more like citrus or an apricot/citrus gel than mango -- no real mango flavor or aroma. It didn't smell spoiled, but it was not what was expected based on the menu. Coffee: very mediocre, flavorless and arrived barely warm, definitely Do NOT recommend wasting money on that when even regular franchise coffee shops produce much better tasting coffee. Overall: freshness is there, but portion size, packaging for delivery, and flavor accuracy need improvement. I'd come back for the chocolate éclair only if they fix packaging, size vs price & quality control issues and will tighten up the recipes/descriptions.

This past weekend, I finally had a chance to grab breakfast, which was great since they had a promotion going on - for every breakfast order, you will receive a complimentary iced coffee or americano. How could you resist that? It was a happy surprise. We ordered the omelet with bacon and cheese. Also got the fried eggs with bacon and ham. Their breakfasts were hearty, and the portions were pretty generous. I saw that they also have a variety of sandwiches, which I would like to try next time, along with potato pancakes!! :) The decor was so cute, we couldn't resist taking photos!! And the service was kind and fast. Can't wait to go back.

I ordered the Journey to Baku salad, the Turkish bread, and the Guru Khingal. The salad needed a pinch of salt, but there was a shaker on the table and with that addition, it was a decent refreshing appetizer. It's sort of a spread so I would recommend ordering some bread to eat with it. The bread came out steaming hot and smelling amazing. It was soft and fluffy on the inside and delicious. I took the extra home and ate it all immediately when I got there. Delicious bread. The Guru Khingal is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in New York City. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, as I have never eaten this type of food before. The tender, handcut pasta seems to be layered with flavorful lamb fat like the most decadent possible buttered noodles and the ground lamb topping is rich and perfectly seasoned. The yogurt sauce gives the dish balance. It's a fairly large portion that could easily be shared between two. I highly recommend this spot, the glowing reviews are not exaggerating at all. I often like to try new and unusual restaurants, and sometimes I enjoy them mostly for the novelty. That was not the case at Village Cafe. My meal here was delicious and I am eager to return, even with the 75 minute commute from north Brooklyn.

I felt like I was inside someone's home and felt welcomed and comfortable. Not loud and well lit. Service (5/5): We came at an off hour during the weekend around 1:30pm there was still around 6 parties dining in. The staff provided good recommendations and good service. When asked for water without any lemon slices, they provided bottled water at no extra cost! Food: (4/5) - rated New York Times top 100 Best Restaurants in New York City in 2025 Every dish came with a small cup of sour cream / Tzatziki based sauce that went with every dish. This was a must and this was mastered very well. Kutaby with chicken and lamb (4/5) - we ordered one each but the lamb was far superior than the chicken. Guru Hingal (4/5) - served in a warmed bowl with a lid in a bed of soft pasta and minced lamb. The pasta reminded me of chow fun (Chinese rice flat noodles) and then some seasoned minced lamb. While overall there were flavors in there, it was still lacked flavors and required to be drowned in the Tzatziki sauces or perhaps a order of table hot sauce. Finally we got the Lamb Lulya Kebab (5/5): this was by far the best dish of the meal! The meat was so wonderfully seasoned throughout, juicy, and complemented well with the rice, onions, and tomato based dip. The wraps themselves were way too small to enjoy using hands so we definitely reconstructed on our plates and attempts with our hands.
