Caffe Adagio has the best mocha! I love the books and toys for the kiddos, but I always come here when I am in Bellingham for their mocha!

My latte tasted like an angel come down and kissed it, the milk was steamed perfectly and the espresso tasted wonderful. Reminds me a lot of Spella down in Portland, OR. :) However, I'm not the hugest fan of the vibe inside, it is spacious but it reminds me of a 'Church' hangout spot, I get my coffee to go or like to sit outside. Fabulous coffee! Always have the latte with the 1/2 sandwich, soup of the day and salad which never disappoints. Today they had a live jazz trio which made for a great downtown afternoon lunch. Service is always good. read more

Adagio is so close to my work. In fact it's on the way when I ride the bus. I'm sometimes lured in by it's closeness, but am usually sad I bothered stopping in. It's a nice space, but usually leaves me feeling stale. Nothing's so terrible, but nothing's so good either. If I can overcome the laziness I'll remind myself not to go. read more

My son-in-law made a breve for me when I was visiting in Seattle, and I really enjoyed it. Since then, I tend to try a Breve at each coffee house I visit. My first was at Adagio; it has been the benchmark of things breve ever since. Pleasing to the nose, the eye, the tongue's tasting ability as well as the mouth's ability to discern body and texture, Adagio's breve modestly ascends to a pinnacle of delight. The quiet atmosphere, the variety of seating options, the sense of "intimate" space mixed with "common" space make each visit a sensual pleasure. Sure, they have soup, sandwiches and pastries... but if you leave without experiencing THEIR breve, you have just punished yourself by denial! read more

I LOVE this coffee shop. I don't drink dairy milk and this is the only place who actually manages to make a creamy mocha out of rice milk instead of a watered down mess. I also like that this place doesn't feel undeservedly snobby like The Black Drop (and the coffee is better by 1000%). I love it. I would go to Cafe Adagio just for the atmosphere. Spacious tables, cozy couches, and not-obnoxious music make it a great place to read a book or study. That being said, Cafe Adagio has the best coffee in town. I tend to judge coffee shops by their ability to make a dry cappuccino, and the cappuccino at Cafe Adagio is one of the best I've tried. Their cappuccino is fantastic-- they make it really dry, all thick foamy milk with rich espresso. Mmm. As a plus, they sell Mt. Bakery baked goods! Cafe Adagio is all about quality. read more

Not impressed. I stopped in for a meeting in their conference room and being 25 minutes early (I don't make the bus schedules), I thought to try their cinnamon rolls with a cup of coffee while I waited. Coffee was pretty good, the roll not so much. The roll itself was baked too hard - the outer layer was tough and difficult to break apart. The inner layer was OK. Cinnamon, you say? Not much to be found. The frosting? Way too much and way too sweet. Why frosting on a cinnamon roll anyway? A simple sticky sugar glaze formed during baking would be more like it. Mt. Bakery is the source for the rolls so I can't really scold Caffe Adagio for that. It's a bus-it-yourself place, and although I didn't mind hustling my order to the table and carrying the spoon, plate and mug to the tub, some might find it offensive. Actually, I carried just my coffee - some kind soul carried my roll. Using a cane to get around does bring out the nice in people. The table was of unsure cleanliness, to be expected of a bus-your-own place. Would I stop there again? Perhaps, just perhaps, depending on circumstances. read more

Look ! A bland-nondescript, sub-par coffee shop-just like you'd find in every airport you've ever been in. Slow service with no personality, smiles or interaction. Menu is blah and uninspired in both beverage and food. Bellingham has some truly excellent coffee shops filled with lively, knowledgeable baristas providing great service and excellent food ; Avellino-Black Drop-Lettered Streets will all brighten you day, but this shop is unpleasant all around, even though it is carefully crafted to have zero impact on your day. read more

One of several great places to get espresso downtown. Excellent beans and skilled baristas. The food is quite good as well. They don't seem to have much for a kitchen, so the menu is kept pretty short and sweet. There is a good selection of panini that are all served with a salad that, while simple, is better than most side salads served with sandwiches at other places. The soups I have tried were tasty as well. They also sell a small assortment of pastries, Baker's cookies, etc. The staff are very nice, and the atmosphere is comfortable, clean and inviting. Awesome food, amazing espresso, staff...not the friendliest set of individuals. A smile and eye contact when you're speaking to your customer go a long way...I understand being busy, possibly understaffed, however being short and rude as a result is what we left talking about. Bellingham has a great coffee culture; even corporate Starbucks down the road is better than your average Starbucks. But Caffe Adagio is by far my favorite coffee shop in Bellingham. It's a relaxing place to work and socialize. The baristas are always friendly. Service is efficient; coffee is good. Even a limited sandwich and soup menu offers tasty choices. The coffee art is a lovely little touch. read more

I would give it 3.5 stars overall. I agree with the other reviews that Adagio puts out some of the best coffee in town. The baristas care about the drinks, and are consistent. So, the quality of the drinks rates 4 stars, but the cafe itself seems generic and sterile, and no real personality to it. Meh. read more

This is my FAVORITE place to get coffee in Bellingham! I will go out of my way to get coffee here any day and usually do :) I work downtown and I'm closer to Avellino the coffee shop down the street which I've had rude service and consistently bad coffee from, so I don't mind walking down the street to get consistently EXCELLENT coffee. I've been a regular here on and off for almost 2 years ( depending on my budget!) and I've NEVER had a bad coffee, everything from drip to breves to milk alternative lattes they do a wonderful job. Never bitter, never too sweet, and they are great with presentation. Lastly, the staff is beyond friendly and genuinely aim to please. I just wish they were open on Sundays! I feel strongly about spending 4-5 dollars on a coffee so it better be good!! For that reason I usually don't buy coffee out on Sundays cause I've got trust issues with other places in town ;) read more
