Cheerful spot with colorful wall art and huge picture windows.

Cheerful service, light and airy dining room. Next time you are at Kaiser Oakland and start feeling a bit peckish, excuse yourself and drive over to Richmond!

Kind staff - comfort food and variety of salads...well stocked. Grateful. Grill cheese sandwiches when you or your family really need one.

Even for Richmond, this cafe has an oddly out-of-the way location in a business park where you…read moredrive through a narrow parking lot. Finding it wasn't intuitive to me, but I assume the locals in the Marina area are familiar with the navigational challenges. I was planning to take a late afternoon walk around Marina Bay, so I decided to give this place a try for lunch since their menu was right up my alley. It consisted mostly of salads and sandwiches. They described themselves as 'artisan' because they use locally sourced ingredients to make some enticing creations like the fried buttermilk chicken sandwich and the artisan chopped salad. I went for the basic $15.25 BLAT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato & Avocado) Sandwich served on toasted brioche bread slathered in chipotle mayo (Photo 7). It worked for me as I sat in their large dining area. I'd likely return now that I know how to get here. FOOD - 4 stars...solid sammie with fresh ingredients though the brioche was a bit overtoasted AMBIANCE - 4 stars...spacious when I was here SERVICE - 3.5 stars...cordial TOTAL - 4 stars...plenty of salads and sammies to try for lunch...worth noting they're open for dinner on Fridays RELATED - Exploring Richmond? Artisan Cafe was comfortable, the background music was background, and the food was great. Thai salad with tofu was delicious. The Southwestern salad my friend had was great. Folks behind the order counter were welcoming and helpful. Yes, it is hard to find but worth finding.

A creative concept with strong service, but this visit had some inconsistencies from the kitchen…read more Went to Aqua Terra again for lunch with BB and noticed they had just rolled out a new April/May menu. We started with the bread basket with compound butter, which was a great start. I ordered the Little Gem salad and the thick cut pork chop, while BB went with the salmon. Our server, Sheila, mentioned it was her first day as a waitress, and she did an amazing job -- attentive, kind, and confident throughout the experience. Unfortunately, the kitchen didn't quite match that same level during this visit. The pork chop was significantly undercooked and not safe to eat, so I wasn't able to finish it. The accompanying components -- including the polenta underneath and the warm mix of green beans, tomatoes, and arugula -- had good flavor, which made it a bit disappointing that the main protein missed the mark. Service overall was great, and I still appreciate the concept of giving culinary students a platform to showcase their skills. That said, proper cooking -- especially with pork -- is critical, and this is an area that needs attention. Overall, a mixed experience: strong service and a great concept, but the kitchen execution needs more consistency
