Stopped here for a Vietnamese coffee. It was way to sweet. I think it's premade. The cashier was nice and the rest of the team too. read more

Coffee is really bad. I never thought coffee could taste this terrible. Starbuck, peetz or some other coffee chain would be far better. Service is decent. Place itself isnt dirty read more

I wanted to like this, as I like the one in North Berkeley but Coffee drinks are only ok Service is slow Acoustics are terrible Seating is uncomfortable Food menu is unappetizing And they don't open till 8:00 a.m.? That's ridiculous read more

The interior is great: light-filled and spacious. But there is work to be done. While the yogurt parfait and coffee offerings are solid, I got the On the Run sandwich and found it limp and soggy for the price. The service sucks. Plain and simple. Vacuous nods and vague answers abound. I'm here right now and am just annoyed at how much everything costs. I do like that it's open until 8. Unfortunately, that's as good as you're going to get in these parts post-COVID. Let me know if the service and food improve and I'll return. read more

I've been here twice to (try) to work on my laptop, and neither time the wifi has worked at all. The coffee is great, but it is $7 for an oat milk latte just to find out you got played and the wifi still doesn't work. It's confusing because there are so many people working on their laptops. Perhaps they are all just writing and come here *because* there is no wifi and they can't be distracted? read more

The interior is cute and chic but honestly the drink i got wasn't good I was pretty disappointed with the matcha quality honestly the matcha was very watered down and tasted powdery too. The only good thing was the strawberry purée. The size of the cup was small too. The service was moderate, cashier was attentive. But i wouldn't recommend the matcha here read more

Where do I even start. This place was being renovated for about a year or so. I was excited to try it out just because im a huge fan of cafes. When I finally came back to the Bay Area I knew I had to check it out. By reading the reviews I was quite skeptical on how my first visit would go. I ordered my favorite go-to drink which is a Dirty Chai. I was in a bit of a hurry so I decided to also get a Burger to go. Surprisingly the drink and burger were made in a timely manner. Seeing the burger being made quicker than the drink I should've know to check it before I left. As I drove back home, the first sip of my coffee was utterly disappointing. The sour and bitter flavor was something I had never tasted before. Maybe the machine wasn't correctly cleaned? Or perhaps it was just a bad day for the barista?? I did not finish my overpriced drink. As I got home, I was sure the burger was going to be no different and I was right! As I ate a fry and got to take a bite of my burger, I spit it out. It was raw! The inside of my burger was raw. No way would I ever let something go over the counter in such a manner. Never will I ever go near this business and I really do suggest to stay away from this place. I won't blame any of the staff and can only blame the poor training that was received. It was a great experience with the staff but other than that a horrible experience. read more

Tried this place while I was walking around the Berkeley area. All I had was a cappuccino. Very nice modern roomy ambience, staff were very friendly and clean ambience. Coffee was not special for the price point and I appreciate the real cups compared to the usual to go cups. read more

I'm shocked to see the reviews are so mixed. I come here at least once a week and am a big fan. The staff are all friendly and thoughtful. The pastries are delicious and my go to drinks the mocha and the salted caramel cappuccino are always on point. I've came here to get some work done and agree that is noisier than other spots, but that is why I wear headphones. I came with my toddler once and there was a customer that was acting erratic and the staff was really on it. They checked in with me and reassured me that they were familiar with him. I opted to leave and the staff were really gracious. I appreciated that they honored the paying customer that they know often talks or sings to himself, and they also kept a close eye and checked in with other customers to make sure everyone was okay. read more

Woof. Cute cat branding but the worst cortado I've ever had. They've got the vibe for a great coffee shop but really bad coffee. I was going to buy a bag of beans before trying the coffee but glad I passed. read more

The coffee is good, but they kick you off their WiFi after 2 hours which is despicable to say the least...

I was excited to check out this new spot that just opened up. The spot is located in the Elmwood District, and there is both street and neighborhood parking. The interior is huge with lots of seating and tables, perfect for doing work and studying. I got their matcha latte with lavender syrup. For the high price point, the drink wasn't too special. It was on the milkier side so I barely tasted the matcha nor the lavender syrup. I personally wouldn't come back for the matcha alone but I would come back to utilize the space and do some work. read more

Cafenated Coffee - Matcha Latte with Lavender Syrup - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Berkeley, California

I'm a regular and this is one of my favorite places for a cup of coffee or tea and even some great food! My usual is an iced lavender latte with oatmilk and it's made consistently well every time. Jasmine tea is a nice floral and bright green tea to enjoy when the weather gets a little colder. The staff are always so gracious and timely with orders! Landi (hope I didn't butcher the spelling!) and Stephanie are chill and friendly when handling my orders. Lots of varied seating options from high top counters to shared tables to cute window side seating with a friend or two. Parking can be a little tricky so if you don't mind walking a block or two, it's more than worth your while to stop by. read more

Just spent $5 on a croissant that has the taste and consistency of plastic. Some of their pastries are fantastic but it seems that they are selling Costco croissants. Unacceptable. read more

Walked in here after discovering the film at Elmwood theater tonight sold out. It's a beautiful locale with a small front patio. The menu is composed of sandwiches and a few appetizers. I ordered the salmon burger with and expensive can of red wine. I also not the close at 7pm. I hope there's enough time for me to enjoy this meal. It's a nice spot to people watch and sip my vino. read more

It's alright. I like the location and the seating but coffee and matcha bit very good. It's a better ambience. Nice employees though!

I thought the reviews were exaggerated but no this place SUCKS. It's expensive. I ordered a cold brew and paid $7 and thought it would be a 16oz but ended up being 12oz. Ok fine, but then the barista handed it to me and it was basically half full. I gave him a weird look and he said "I can actually add more if you would like." Well yes, usually when you buy a drink it is filled to the top (so very odd). Wi-Fi is also not easily accessible and basically doesn't work. read more

Coffee on the weak side. Service mediocre. Spacious place, but not cozy. Not recommended!

They seem to have taken their pricing model from the airline industry. My $4.50 cortado was $6.50 out the door with "extras".

Uncomfortable chairs, overpriced pastries ($5.50 for a morning bun that's mostly sugar and air), and thumping club music at 8 am. There are many great cafes in Berkeley; this isn't one of them. Two stars because the latte is drinkable, but you'll want to get it to go. read more

I love this little Cat Icon Coffee spot on the corner, the workers are all very friendly, and professional. The ambiance transforms throughout the day from morning brunch vibes in the side / downstairs area that feels like a modern diner, to mid-day cleaner cuter version of Starbucks with a spacious work area & various options for sitting / standing, room for everyone, to Friday & Saturday night Live Music. The music during the day is always upbeat - I was here with a few friends on Friday for the Live Music & danced the evening away to Brazilian Jazz music with people of all ages. Was planning on just doing work, but couldn't resist the warmth & joy in the room. Very fun staff. Queer friendly I often get the strawberry matcha, however everything is good ! Come enjoy :) read more

Fool me once. I wasn't in the mood for coffee, so I ordered tea - English Breakfast. My fault for not looking, but didn't think I had to. $6 for normal sized tea. Outrageous. A mocha is $6. ambience is cute but the cashier had to have been one of the rudest people i've ever encountered. as in she was so rude that i'm leaving my first yelp review in years. also.. $7.44 for a london fog is pretty crazy. read more

Very disappointing. If I'm going to pay $26 for breakfast and a chagaccino I expect more than that. I asked for sunny side up eggs. The cashier then confirmed "fried egg" and I said yes, sunny side up. Then I get the very unappealing, boring and unattractive dish you see in the picture. Then I go complain and she said we only have three opening of eggs: poached, scrambled eggs, fried. Sure, sunny side up is fried except with sunny side up! Step up your game Cafenated, it's just a simple sunny side up and maybe add some greens to this not at all tasty dish. Not to mention I asked for aioli sauce or any sauce to accompany this pale dish to try to add some taste to it and it's been about 10 minutes and I still haven't gotten it. And I probably won't. I'm going to get up from my chair for the third time. Instead get this since review. read more

Coffe is awful. The shop is very nice, modern sleek. Was looking forward to this for a long time since Espresso Roma sadly closed. Maybe they could get some tips from them, but for heavens sake change the coffee bean. It's undrinkable! read more

WIFI!!!!! With the vibe this place is going for it's simply pathetic to have such bad wifi in 2023. I told a staff member just to let them know (not that I expected an immediate fix) and they said "there's nothing we can do." I'm not talking about not being able to download or stream--I couldn't even open a webpage. And yet they have three different networks: public, customer, and a final which I think must be for employees only. Is there a need for a "public" network sucking bandwidth from the customers? Windows also notified me that the WiFi network they're using is out of date. read more

The venue is nice & spacious but the staff look miserable and not one of them smile or greet customers with any sort of positive energy. What are you doing to your staff? Also, one sneezed open mouth while he was helping me this morning & one person making coffee for several people is not ideal in the morning. read more

I like to come here and get some work done but can be distracting with how loud their music is sometimes especially in the back area (even with noise cancelling headphones). I love how many outlets there are but the biggest issue is how stuffy it is in the back room. There is a door but it's always closed and there's no other ventilation. There is a split system which they don't turn on. I've requested it to be turned on and staff has told me they don't know where the remote is (it was a white one sitting on the back counter) and that the manager isn't there/ doesn't want it on. Cmonnnn it's 85 degrees & stuffy and you won't turn it on? Y'all charging enough with the drinks to make your customers comfortable. read more

Best vibes. They make great lattes and matchas, and play even better music. Couldn't recommend more. College Ave location is unmatched.

Let me start by saying, I really wanted to like Cafenated. I'd heard great things about the North Berkeley location and had been excited that they were taking over the old Cafe Roma space. I went here laptop in hand on a hot day to escape the heat and get some work done. First con - menu set up. Tiny menu over the counter that just features some select drinks/snacks. Printed menus are all up at the front, so you have to cut in the line to grab a menu then duck back into the line. Not a great flow. Should have a stack of menus at the entrance for this type of set up IMO, especially considering it's not just a standard coffee menu - there are teas! There's beer and wine! There are choices to be had! Second con - drinks. We ordered a decaf iced Americano and a hibiscus lemonade. The hibiscus lemonade was the result of not understanding the (printed) menu layout - apparently two separate drinks which was unclear to me since I don't read "hibiscus" on its own to be a drink especially when it is followed by lemonade, and then strawberry lemonade. However, that was a happy accident as it was delicious, 5/5 for the invented drink. The iced decaf Americano was... fine. It didn't inspire me to try any of their other espresso drinks in the future. Third con and the impetus for writing the review - wi-fi. I recognize that cafe wi-fi is out of the control of your average barista, but we came with the intention of working. Six different "Cafenated" wi-fi networks... none matching the posted wi-fi network name. Assuming that "Cafenated Guest" (posted wi-fi name) and "Cafenated Public" (available wi-fi) must be the same, tried the password. No go. Try the password for all the other Cafenated wi-fi networks. Still nothing. Go up and confirm network name again. Ask barista about it - they don't know, that's the network name, have you tried refreshing? It was still no go across four devices between me and my coffee mate... checked with the folks sitting next to us, they also couldn't get it to work and stopped trying to ask. Barista confirms, they can't reset the router, there's nothing to be done. A big bummer as we've now spent $12 (!) for two drinks and can't stay as we can't work. Ask a different barista for to go cups since we can't stay since we have no way to work - got the cups with frankly a lot of 'tude. Left and relocated to the library since now we couldn't bring our existing drinks into another cafe. Again, I recognize technology is hard and stuff happens, but there are plenty of other places I'd rather try than giving (at least this outpost of) Cafenated another go anytime soon after this experience. read more

I've been here several times. I love this cafe! The interior is spacious, modern and airy. The staff are always friendly, attentive and prompt. My usual order is an iced oat milk latte, yum! There are tasty pastries as well entrees. This is a good place to show to out-of-town guests or meet for a date. There is a also a bathroom for customers to use. I have come here to spend hours reading my book while sipping a latte and having the avocado toast with salmon (I haven't used the wifi, tho). I don't find this place loud at all, it is average noise level. If you are sitting with someone who is hard of hearing, yes it might be a bit difficult, so I would suggest sitting at one of the large tables where you can sit side-by-side, rather than across from each other. Otherwise, I found it normal for my companion to hear me. read more

The ambience is fine, with some window benches and lots of small tables. Unfortunately the decaf is bad and the prices are high. Philz remains the best decaf in town. read more

Arisen from the ashes of Café Roma, the neighborhood coffee shop staple, Cafenated Coffee aims to fill a huge gap in the Elmwood area. And it seems like they're on their way! It's got a beautiful, fully-remodeled interior and it couldn't be in a better location - at the corner of a major intersection with tons of foot traffic from Cal. It's usually filled with university and working folks, with a nice drum of white noise. Their hot chocolate was smooth and rich with dark chocolate undertones. The vanilla latte we ordered was very delicious as well. read more

I was excited they opened a location here as I love their North Berkeley spot. Unfortunately (in the 2X I've been), it's been disappointing. Coffee: pretty good! Ambience: fine but sterile DO NOT ORDER FOOD. I paid $20 for soggy toast with guacamole :( Happy this empty space is finally filled, but sad because it could be so much better. read more

I was a fan of Espresso Roma that previously occupied this space and am disappointed with what Cafenated has done to it. Hip chic has taken over what was once a warm, rustic, welcoming and unpretentious spot with real wood tables and solid food at reasonable prices. It is now a cold, industrial-like space with black ceilings, laminate tables, and weird, unappealing, and outrageously expensive menu options. They claim to "ethically source" from women in other countries; so how about offering the less well-heeled members of their own community prices they can afford? To make matters worse, they don't accept cash payments. I can't comment on the quality of the food or drinks because I was too put off by the prices, the menu options, and the noise level to order anything. Finally, soundproofing is desperately needed as the acoustics are horrible! This didn't use to be a problem. It is now screechingly loud inside; you can even overhear the conversation of someone speaking in a normal voice from across the room. Multiply the noise level several-fold by the work-from-homers who now use public spaces as their personal offices and with their headphones on and oblivious to those around them, literally yell into their laptops or cellphones, sometimes for hours on end. One plus - no dogs allowed. So at least you don't have to worry about dogs barking or eating the crumbs under your table. But for my meals, I will be frequenting the unpretentious Dream Fluff Donuts across the street that has food I actually want to eat for 1/3 of the price and for ambience I will be frequenting other coffee shops. read more

Best patio around. Great food and fun coffee drinks. Gets really crowded and loud during prime study hours.

I am only writing about the coffee, not the espresso drinks or the food or anything. This was a really bad tasting cup of coffee and more expensive than great places like Cole coffee down the street. read more
