I had to come back and update my review from 2017. It looks like since my last visit, they expanded/moved/renovated, any one or all of the three. I came back here and tried a couple of their drinks. I let my friend order the drinks one of those times and surprise me. It was a pumpkin spice latte with cold foam, and oh my goodness, it was SO GOOD!! I did come back to try other drinks, but couldn't find any "fancy" or seasonal drinks. The baristas are very friendly and useful. Would I return? absolutely to try other drinks.

Been a while since I came here and it's still pretty good ! I got their butterscotch coffee with oat milk which was reallyyyyy gooood! They make their oat milk in house! It added a such a nice rich flavor to the butterscotch. My husband got the cream coffee wasn't great, I tried a sip I wouldn't get it again. Just a simple cold brew coffee with a cold foam on top. I didn't order food this time, but I've had their food and I really like it. It's a casual spot with some seating.

Such a cute cafe with cozy vibes. The space is welcoming, clean, and perfect for catching up with friends or getting a little work done. I ordered the rose latte and it was amazing. Lightly floral, not overpowering, and perfectly balanced with the espresso. It felt unique but still comforting. I also tried the Davant latte which was, smooth. Service was friendly and quick. It gets pretty packed so may need to wait for a table. They also have outdoor seating

Traditional cappuccino

My husband and I went here on a whim on a Monday AM and were surprised to find it packed. Parking was easy due to its location in a strip mall. I was looking for a legit cappuccino and Cafein delivered! They had both cappuccino and "traditional cappuccino" (the difference being size aka volume of milk) and i could actually taste the coffee in my traditional cappuccino! My husband enjoyed his iced matcha latte, though we both agreed it tasted a little too sweet. Pastry selection was very sparse at 10:30. Our only complaint was that we didn't get reception and the WiFi wasn't working (though I appreciated that the password was on the table!). I don't think I'll make a point to return (it didn't have particularly cozy vibes), but if I were in the area I'd choose Cafein due to the quality.

Cafein is a busy cafe regardless of the time of the day you visit. I hate waiting for drinks when I just want caffeine on the go especially at a busy cafe like this. So I usually prefer ordering ahead of my arrival. Well, this cafe requires you to download their standalone app for such an occasion + make an account. I discovered this when I went onto their online website and just wish they allow web ordering in lieu of app download. My drinks were ready upon arrival but the pickup process was frustrating. I went to where people pick up their orders aka end of the counter. There was no cashier of sort at cash wrap. Stood there like an idiot with two baristas gawking at me fully aware I have been waiting for good 5 minutes. I finally spoke up after waiting and one of them told me "oh your order has been ready awhile ago but you just need to get it from the shelf near the cash register" WOWEE thanks for the letting me know after all this time! God knows how much longer I would have had to just stand there had I not spoken up! There was really no clear signage that I could see upon entering the cafe that there's a shelf full of to-go orders you pluck out. It was good to know for the next time but it was just UGH when you have jetlag and in a rush. I tried out 3 different drinks over the 5-days stay I had in the region and only liked one of them -- the iced London Fog Latte. It has a nice lavender tinged tea flavor that's slightly on the too sweet side of the spectrum. Too bad there's no option of adjusting the sweetness like picking 75% sweet when ordering online. The matcha latte looks pretty but it's chalky, weak, and too sweet. It almost tastes like I'm drinking straight up milk with green coloring to it. I don't recommend. Same with butterscotch latte. The name sounds enticing but it didn't taste much differently than a standard latte. So disappointing. All in all, I still prefer ordering my caffeine from a local small business like this but if I'm in SoCal, this would be a 2-star place with no chance of revisiting. Just with the unfriendly and snooty customer service + having to download an app + mediocre $$ drink makes it a NO.

One of my favorite coffee shops! Love the atmosphere at CAFEIN. The coffee's great and the employees are super friendly! Lots of seatings and they play great music. It's a nice place for hanging out with friends, reading, or getting your work done. Tried one of their specialties, the Honey Cinnamon Latte and it's so good! They served it in a mug, which is always a plus and extra cozy! Can't wait for my next visit!

Came for a quick breakfast and was really surprised by their food. The ham and cheese croissant was pretty standard but their breakfast sandwich was really good! It had avocado, red onions and a wasabi mayo that went really well with the sausage and egg! Their coffee was pretty good as well - typical flavored lattes that you can find at most places. Solid cafe with more food options than most! Entrees: Sausage Breakfast Sandwich and Ham and Cheese Croissant Drinks: Rose and Vanilla Latte

One of my favorite coffee shops! Good coffee, friendly workers and this location has more and better seating which makes it nice for working or meeting friends. It's almost always busy though so the only downside would be if you can't find a seat I love their rose latte but their Hojicha and matcha latte are also pretty good too

I finally got to try Cafein and it was even better than I expected. I had the honey cinnamon latte, which is one of the best lattes I have ever had. The latte had so much flavor. I also had the sausage egg and cheese on brioche. The sandwich was delicious and hot. We weren't able to eat our food at the location since all the tables were occupied. If you are going, I'd recommend going earlier, we went at about 11:30 on a Saturday.

On a long trip the first thing you have to do is start the journey right with food and Cafein. Super nice space with ample seating. I ordered the veggie breakfast sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. Cooked to order indeed and well worth the $8 price tag...I combined that selection with a cortado with just a hint of simple syrup (best to choices to start the day). You can immediately tell the place is indeed a fan favorite, the staff is super attentive and friendly. WiFi codes are on the table for usage if you need it...I'd stay away from the front in the winter months because it may be a little chilly in the front with the guest entering and leaving. Overall a solid find indeed and worth a 20 25 min drive by far.

The Veggie on Wheat Bagel

I saw a TikTok that said, "chef's kiss isn't good enough, I need to go back and make love to the chef." Yeah... this place is that for me. The creamy tomato soup is perfectly balanced; the right amount of sweetness, tanginess, and just a little kick. The thickness is spot-on, with small minced pieces that give it great texture without being chunky. The grilled cheese somehow has so much flavor for something so simple. Crispy, comforting, and done exactly right. The rose latte was a standout: not overpowering, not overly sweet, and you can still smell the rose subtle and elegant. The veggie on a wheat bagel tasted incredibly fresh and clean, like every ingredient actually mattered. Service was amazing, quick and clean. The space itself is simple, clean, and calm, the kind of place where you can actually get work done and lose track of time. I'm still thinking about this café, and honestly, it's probably the best one we've been to so far.

The atmosphere is quite sterile - no character and poor lighting. It is however a good place to work from and the coffee is good. Free wifi & plenty of parking.

Any recent sight of or plans for siphon brews?

Are there gluten free breakfast options? Thanks!

Not certain.

The website says carry out only, but the recent reviews show seating and the coffee in mugs with latte art (yay), does this mean sit down for dine in has reopened?

Yes

Can you describe the Davant coffee (specialty drink)? Thanks!

It's a little sweet but not overpowering. Reminds me of Brazilian coffee prepared with evaporated milk, so it's very creamy and velvety. We honestly refer to it as "crack coffee" in our house because we find ourselves craving it a lot, and everyone…

Which non-dairy milks are available?

We have almond, soy, and oat milk

Where can I find the nutrition information for the food offered there, specifically the Fresh Mozarella on Ciabatta?

I would ask management.

Do they accept Apple Pay?

Yes

Are the breakfast sandwiches served all day?

Hi there. Breakfast is served till 11am Monday thru Friday, and until 1pm Saturday and Sunday.

Does Cafein have coconut or almond milk?

They have soy milk and almond milk.

I've also tried their pesto poulet sandwich (baguette, pesto chicken, tomato, green pepper, and mozzarella cheese) and it was super yum! The chocolate hazelnut pastry is a perfect companion for the coffee, and you can ask for your pastry to be warmed up, which is even better. Very mediocre food, great service, good drink options, all in a hotel restaurant environment…read more We came here after work and were all staying at the Marriott so it was convenient. It's a nice atmosphere, not too stuffy but elegant enough for a nice dinner. The drinks are good, well mixed, and nice options whether you drink wine, beer, cocktails, or non-alcoholic options. The food, however, is very mediocre. They started with an amuse-bouche that was a fruit tart with cheese. Nice, light, and well balanced. We ordered the tuna tartare, along side a Japanese sweet potato dish and a salmon tartare that were both specials. The tartares were fine. Something you would get anywhere. The presentation was nice but their crisp or cracker was kind of useless as it doesn't have the structural strength to use as a vessel to eat the fish. The sweet potato was probably the best in terms of flavor albeit very rich. The main course is well things really fell apart. The beef dishes people ordered were either under cooked or over cooked. I got the grilled prawns which were limp and mushy. The veggies were underseasoned. The braised beef was small. I think everyone was underwhelmed with the main course. It's fine as a after work dinner spot but if you care about food, there are better options nearby.

Pro tip - restaurant is cashless, so have your card handy. There wasn't a bar tender available until 11, so unfortunately we didn't get any mimosas (which we were planning on for our bubbly brunch!). The scones (at $10) were delicious, particularly the lemon curd. I just wish you got more than 2 for that price. Several of us ordered the eggs Benedict. Eggs were perfectly poached and the bakery style English muffin was perfect. I found the Virginia ham overwhelmingly salty, but the salad was a nice compliment. The waiter was awesome and so nice. Staff wrote my friend a congrats card, as we were celebrating the soon-to-be birth of her baby.

The food is in appealing display cases downstairs. The stand out pastries for me are the tiramisu filled cronuts. Drinks wise, they have the typical cafe fare but excitingly so they also have Colombe on draft which I will always be excited about. I recommend this place to grab a snack and socialize!

We chose to do the pistachella and the bounty.  They both featured Nutella and if that wasn't enough, one added crushed pistachios and the other coconut flakes.  They were very tasty but very rich and between the two of us, we had to admit defeat before finishing them both.  Happily, there are to go boxes to bring home any remainders.  The space is very clean and there are tables and lots of napkins (which you will need because these treats are both awesome and very messy).  The staff was very friendly and the parking is easy in the lot out front.  We will have to come back again to try some of the savory options to definitely be followed up by another dessert one. Grant Street, it turns out, is disjointed. In other words, it's not like it's just a straight shot from one end to the other. We stopped in here on a Saturday around 4 p.m. The place closes at 6 p.m., and are closed on Sunday. At that time of day, they weren't at all busy. The young man at the counter took our orders, and someone working in the back made the sandwiches. We just ordered savory items, so we can't speak to how the sweet items are (although some of them sounded so good). I ordered the salmon sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with dill cream cheese, filled with smoked Atlantic salmon, spring mix, cucumber, and red onion." The bread choices are everything bagel, jalapeno, and cheesy. I chose the everything bagel and asked for no onion. I found this sandwich to be tasty, but I thought they could have gone lighter with the dill cream cheese. The bread had a nice crispness. My husband ordered the ham and Swiss sandwich, which consists of: "Choice of your chimney bread, spread with paprika mayo and filled with black forest ham, Swiss cheese, fresh romaine hearts, spring mix, sweet pepper, tomato, cucumber, and red onion". He wasn't happy with the paprika mayo, as he says mustard would have worked better. Nor did he care for the sweet peppers. Now he knows not to order the default setting for this sandwich but instead to customize the toppings. They work with DoorDash, which, when ordering online, gives the option to customize one's order. There are high tables, the type that are found in bars, for those who want to eat their sandwiches there. The place is kept very clean.
