My husband and I ordered Cafecito to go and split the family style meal for two. It came with caldo gallego soup, chopped salad, rice and beans, ropa vieja, and sweet plantains. Overall it was a very good value for the amount of food we received. The plantains were too greasy for my liking, but I enjoyed all of the other food, especially the soup and the ropa vieja. read more

If you have vegetarian friends, take them here. If you love a proper meaty cubanito, go here. If you love arugula, idk what they do to that vinaigrette, but it's the best salad. And obvs, get a cafecito. read more

this was the worst service I have had in recent memory. they had one - one! - unfriendly, overworked staff member for the entire front of house on a beautiful, sunny Sunday at Noon. this place is poorly run/managed. we waited In a line for 15 minutes to order at the counter. That's fine and expected - it's a busy day. But when we got to the counter, the woman informed us that if we were dining in, we would need to sit at a table and order from a server (No signage about this or anyone telling you that's how it worked). well, she was the only server. I asked if we could just order here and then sit and she refused. We then sat at a table for 15 minutes and waited for that some woman to come to our table and take our order. The table next to us was having the same issues. Eventually we got up and left without ordering. There were so many tables who hadn't gotten their food, and others who hadn't even ordered, that it was clear that this was going to take even longer than we thought. What a waste of our time. We are never returning. I hope they get better management. read more

A friend told me to check this place out for the coffee. I ordered the Cafecito iced coffee single shot of espresso. I was nervous I wasn't going to like it because I like my coffee beige, if ya know what I mean and when I saw it it looked very much like coffee still. But it was actually pretty good. It has a strong sugar flavor, which i liked at first but after a while it was a little too sweet. I ordered the Corteza Del Mar. The tilapia was tasty with the tartar sauce but the fried mango rice wasn't very flavorful. The Yuca frita's were very good though. Came from Sunday brunch and we all LOVED it. A $5 mimosa deal, a full vegan menu, and DELICIOUS Food. They have a covered patio with heaters and it's so fun. Prompt service, socially distanced, and there was no wait at all. They don't take reservations but it wasn't an issue! read more

So disappointed in this location! Placed an order online for pickup - successful and quick. Did they get the order right? Of course not. Ordered two chivito sandwiches - one with tomato, one without. Got tomatoes in both. Couldn't taste the aioli. Sandwiches were haphazardly cut - neither of them all the way through so that we had to rip them apart and the toppings along with. Not tasty at all, which is a far cry from the Cafecito location on Wells (Congress Pkwy). They ALWAYS deliver great food. Also ordered cafe con leche, which tasted like watered down espresso with a touch of sugar. Awful. Again, Wells location does it right. Too bad their hours of operation aren't long because I'd make the drive there over the much closer Fullerton location every day of the week. read more

Really enjoyed my visits.I walked past quite a few times and this restaurant caught my attention.Decided to start doing my research on them.By the time I walked in I pretty much knew the whole menu.It is a nice little cafe with an outdoor patio.Perfect place to stop in before or after a day at the beach or a trip to Lincoln Park Zoo since they are only a couple of blocks away.The food is delicious.Must try the roast pork with guava bbq sauce.Comes with jicama slaw and maduros.It was DELICIOUS!!!! Their sandwiches are really good as well.They also have breakfast sandwiches if you're in the mood.Loved their tres leches pancakes with berries.I LOVE this place!!!! I am not saying this is a place to avoid. I will say though that you should avoid delivery. I ordered the Ropa Viega Platter. First off, the rice was pretty bland. Second, the portion size of the rice and beans is very skimpy. Third, I really couldn't taste much of the garlic in the dish. Fourth, I could not detect any onions that are claimed to be in the dish. Fifth, the packaging sucked bad for the beef and plantain part of the meal. The beef literally soaked into and through the container. I realize it is cool and right to use paper packaging for stuff, but the packaging (paper again, but way more sturdy) that was used on the rice and beans could have handled the beef way better. I feel as I got half amount of rice I would have gotten for dine in and the same for the beans. The rice and beans came together in one small container. The food is cooked to proper texture and the tomato sauce for the beef is good, I will give them that however. The "platter" I received for delivery for $15.99 before any taxes,fees, and tip just wasn't worth it. read more

Very good hot sandwiches, and for great prices!! I got the cubano, for myself, and the chicken chimichurri for my friend and both were delicious. We loved them. Each one was less than $10 too! Hard to beat that. Also ordered apps -- yuca and tostones -- that were very tasty and came with great sauces. Would definitely come back here. Looking forward to trying more of their offerings :). read more

After seeing the movie Chef, I set out to find a cubano and boy did I succeed. At the time I had this, it was the best sandwich I had eaten up until that point. The counter style works well in the small space. It's quick and a fun place to visit. read more

I found myself amused by the other reviews I skimmed over before leaving mine. What actually prompted me to leave a review was the fact that I've been waiting for what feels like 45 minutes for someone to check on me. The waiter was so nice and we bonded over our perspectives on food and nourishing the body... and my food was spectacular - as it always is. I always get rice and beans, tostones, and toast with coffee. I can never finish all of it, even though it's just a few side orders. Needless to say, the portions are generous! This was the first time my tostones came as oily, but I actually preferred them to the overly crunchy ones I typically receive. The toast was perfect, less buttery today, which I prefer. The rice and beans were deeeelicious and my coffee was perfect- I asked for a third of the sweetness and they nailed it. I later told my server to hold off on my box, since I wanted to hang out for a bit, maybe half an hour. Aaaand that was what lead to me waiting for over half an hour for any service. Four stars makes me feel a little sad because I want to give this place five stars! The people are always friendly, I LOVE being able to feel like I'm not in white peoples land, and the food is amazing every time. But the service is just so silly! The other reviews seem to express the same sentiments. Will I be back? Duh. Will I always wish the servers were more attentive? Also yes. read more

This place was horrible we went in and it took 20 minutes for a waiter to even notice us and give us service then when we placed our order we had to wait a whole hour and a half we ended up just walking out with no food and we ended up going to another restaurant Jibaritos which gave us great service it was terrible we really wanted to try the food here would never return and would not want anyone to waste their time. read more

I started a new job this week and the team went out to lunch. Everyone talked about how great the food was and it was good. I ordered the jerk chicken sandwich black bean soup combo. Two days later I discovered I lost my wallet. I retraced my steps and found it was safe in the hands of Cafecito staff. They saved my bacon and I cannot thank them enough. read more

One word: coffee!!! Come here for the best cafe con leche in the city. The menu is huge and has something for everyone (vegetarians and vegans too!!). The service is very hit or miss but if you aren't in a rush, you can enjoy a nice time sipping on a hot espresso and catching up with friends read more

I have been to Cafecito on chestnut and never had a problem. I ate with my son at the Fullerton Parkway location and the service was horrible!!! My son and I were the only Hispanics sitting in the patio, the other customers in the patio were white. The two servers came out multiply times and asked the other customers "How is everything", "Did they need anything else." Never asked my son and I if we need a refill or anything. I had to call them for a container for our food and check. Pretty sad since this is a Cuban restaurant. I left a very low tip which I should've have left nothing! I will never eat here again or recommend it!!!!!! read more

First off, the food isn't the reason for the not so great review... the cuban sand was epic! The other dish? shrimp was fair, the shrimp seemed cooked nicely but over salted and under developed flavor here.. The beans and rice, plantains, were quite good as was the mojito. Server? Decor? Server? bad vibe..like was acting super annoyed at any request and no, we didn't ask him for anything other than basic stuff and that? annoys me. You cant walk off rolling your eyes over nothing.. We sat outside which is decent enough for a casual place for lunch. But inside?? what is with that GROSSS old flooring? In any case, I'd def go back, sitting outside of course or order takeout etc. read more

The food at Cafecito is fantastic. If you want a no-frills, casual dining experience at a stellar Cuban restaurant, this is the place to go. You go into the restaurant knowing one thing: I want to eat. Don't go here for the 'gram. There's about a billion other places in the city where you can wait in a crowded line for hours for a picture of food. But if you really just want a place you can get a solid meal, this is where you go. The menu has some good variety, but is more importantly straight to the point. Cafecito is nestled on that one side of Fullerton that I almost never walk down unless I'm headed towards the lakefront. But hey, now I have a second reason to travel that way! Checked it out recently for an end of the workweek lunch. Didn't have a whole lot of expectations because I'd never been to a Cafecito restaurant before. First things first, I loved the vibe as soon as I walked in. The decor is vibrant and inviting, the music was loud enough for me to seat-shimmy to, but not obnoxiously loud. It was mid-day on a weekday, so not too crowded. There was a mixture of people dining together and people on their own, with their laptops, enjoying some coffee. So if you're a solo diner who doesn't want to feel self-conscious about it, check this place out. Good customer service. Our waitress was new, so any hiccups will likely be ironed out as time goes on. She, and everyone else we encountered, was quite pleasant. I had the margarita sandwich. Honestly, one of the best I've had. There's some sauce they put on that thing that is so good, I don't know what it is, but keep that! Please note: the sandwich comes on its own so if you're quite hungry, you will have to order a side separately. So, will I return? Come on, plantains in walking distance from my house, of course I'll be back. read more

Our server was super sweet and answered all of our questions about the menu. We both got lattes, which tasted great. My friend ordered the root vegetable hash and I went with the monte cristo. Both were delicious but the star of the show was the rosemary roasted potatoes! Service was prompt and they also had lots of sweets/treats to choose from. Will definitely be back!

I got the milk punch cold, and while good I think getting it warm would've brought the spices out more. Definitely wasn't too sweet though and tasted like there was no alcohol in there!! The drink my husband got I LOVED!! Usually I'm not a mezcal espresso martini gal but it was just smoky enough, complex, and delicious. When we go back, I'll be getting that next! Bonus: our server was so nice and helpful!! She gave great recommendations based on what we were asking for and was friendly. Overall we liked Mordecai and will be back when we're feeling a more upscale cocktail bar vibe.

This is a bittersweet review as this establishment recently closed. I happened to discover LNF during a Yelp Event when LNF turned into Rudolph's Bar, a jolly holly Xmas Extravaganza! I do not believe there was a single spot in the bar that had not been covered in Xmas decorations. It was total sensory overload to the point I did not put up any directions 2025 because I had seen enough at LNF. HAHAHAHAHA! On the strength of the food and drinks that night, I decided to go back once all of the Xmas hoopla was over. Going back in 2026 was a more subdue, but enjoyable time for me. As I mentioned in my 2025 review, even with all the Xmas decoration, the overall vibe was a step up from the typical bars around the Cubs playground. I would have loved a regular girls night out there instead of the last hurrah of me and The Queen. I had mentioned to her about the cocktails and the pizzas I had during the Yelp event and we decided to stop in before heading to the Alamo Drafthouse for a movie. Me and The Queen go the Spicy Sausage pizza and those fries, since I talked about the food to her. Again it was really good, with the crust still being nice and thin. The Queen did not think it was all that spicy, but she eats Hell Ramen Level 4, so I do not look to her for confirmation of hotness when it comes to food. We had cocktails and The Queen (because she was driving) had a Margarita made with a zero proof Tequila. I have to say it was not that bad and I got one and added Prosecco to it...delish. Me and The Queen had a great time chatting, eating and drinking at LNF, but were both sad that we were going to miss out on the opportunity to turn this into one of our rotation hangouts. But I will always be grateful for them introducing me to their Red Bull Winter Spritz. Since that Yelp Event, I have bought three cases of Red Bull Sugar-Free Fuji Apple and Ginger Winter Edition Energy Drink to make the cocktail. Not sure if it is exactly how they did it, but it works for me. So long LNF, it was good knowing you, even if it was for a short time. Deuces!

We had a reservation for 9 am the day of the Michigan/Northwestern game at Wrigley Field. Figured we would have a quick brunch then go enjoy the pre-game atmosphere. Well, when we had been sitting for nearly 30 minutes with no server to be found, we started to get nervous. She finally came over and while she was sweet, really just nothing went right. A food runner brought out a tray that appeared to have all of our orders, but then only served one plate before walking away. It was a solid 10-15 minutes before anyone else's meals were brought out, and even then it was one plate at a time every few minutes, not the rest of the order at once. And everything was cold. Every single item. The chicken and waffles felt like it came out of the fridge it was so cold. And the worst part - we had a member in our party with a severe nut allergy, who told the server 3 times. She noted it, and made sure he would get white toast instead of wheat. When his meal came, there were two huge pieces of wheat toast with visible nuts across his ENTIRE plate. Touching every piece of food. He said again that he was allergic, and they just removed the toast and handed the plate back. It had already touched everything! Since at this point we had to leave soon for the game (and because we now couldn't trust a kitchen that doesn't understand a nut allergy), we just had them remove his order from the check and he didn't get to eat. The server did take 20% off the total bill and gave us a gift card to make up for our terrible experience. Like I said, she was very nice and trying her best. She was just at the mercy of the kitchen being behind and screwing up. But as a Wrigleyville restaurant, you MUST be able to handle lots of customers on a game day. That's like the one thing Wrigley bars need to be good at. This is just not an environment I would choose to be in again, especially for the steep prices. We'll use the gift card for drinks at the bar on a non-game day, and wipe our hands of Lost Never Found.
