It's Veterans Day. Just ordered a Fiesta grain bowl with fried chicken and I need to unload some thoughts. The chicken was seasoned with some sort of magic, firstly. The greens added a little kick, the onions perfectly sliced; almost paper thin. The green chiles cut into little morsels add that Smokey bit we crave when we think of fiesta style foods. There were bits of queso fresco crumbled over the whole thing, giving that tang. Even the brown rice was treated with the utmost respect and has the most amazing flavor and hearty texture! This used to be one of our favorite local breakfast spots, but it's really gone downhill. Service is minimalist by design, ambiance and decor are nice but dark & dreary during the winter months due to the lighting. I could mention several criticisms of recent managerial decisions, but I'll just limit it to one. The "American Breakfast" has disappeared, replaced by an a la carte ordering model. I assume this reflects price creep and the reality that the market will not support a $20 counter-service breakfast (especially one that prompts for pre-tipping) when a comparable $12 option is available across the street at a full-service restaurant. Combined with long wait times and lukewarm food, caused by either amateurs in the kitchen or lackadaisical food delivery by the counter-staff, Cafe Sol has regretfully moved to my "occasionally OK" list. read more

We absolutely devoured our lunch at this terrific lunch spot. The paninis were packed with flavor - and honestly, we could have probably split a lunch but we were hungry and somehow our dishes were clean by the end of lunch. TLDR: Cafe sol isn't worth it. Go to grassroots cycles (yes it's a good joint too), Main Street bagels, or Goat & Clover. As a GJ native, I feel like Cafe Sol was great when they started and has just slowly gone downhill. Got a fried chicken biscuit with cheddar today and some fries. The chicken biscuit was just bad. I'm not one to waste food, and I still couldn't finish it. The biscuit itself would have probably been ok if it was buttered but the fried chicken breast was so dry and the batter was practically burnt. the fries were good and the water was free, but that's about all I enjoyed today. read more

Delicious! We walked in to order for takeout and was greeted by an extremely friendly hostess! We ordered the Turkey Sandwich, Black Bean Burger with Quinoa Salad, Spicy Chickpea Soup, and Cafe Sol Salad. Everything was delicious! The ingredients tasted delicious and so fresh. We also got the vegan peanut butter chocolate donut which had so much flavor without being sweet. This is a must go spot. read more

WHAT A GEM of healthy options and great flavors! Parking is everywhere but I recommend the metered lots. Art is everywhere! And, WOW! Such sweet and comfortable decor! The portobello mushroom panini was so delicious especially paired with hummus and fresh vegetables. The salad was so flavorful with the vinaigrette. I was floored with the portion size but very thankful for such a filling meal.the water options are so fresh and the food is so very with the price. The inside is comfortable and there is patio seating available. My wife and I walked to Cafe Sol on Main St just a few blocks away from our SpringHill Suites hotel for a late lunch. It was towards closing time so it wasn't too busy but many customers were still coming in for a quick bite or pick-up. Ordering was done at the counter, it was efficient and easy. Our food items were brought out to our table. I ordered the Chicken Pesto Panini w/chips and my wife ordered the small Cafe Sol salad w/grilled chicken breast (the small was plentiful, a large portion would have been too much). I hate leaving bad reviews, but my experience here was awful. I ordered the cafe sol salad, after waiting for 25 minutes, I went to the counter and asked about my food. They said it would be out shortly- despite there only being only one other person in the restaurant. I waited another ten minutes. When I finally got my salad (with no apology or discount) the beets were very mushy and clearly had been sitting for a while. The dressing was bitter tasting and gave me heart burn. For the ridiculous price that I paid for this, I was really disappointed at the size, quality and wait time. I would not waste my money here again. read more

A great spot for breakfast and lunch -- the best food we had in Grand Junction over a long weekend. You can sit inside or out; order at the counter and grab a table while you wait for food to be delivered. The panini are excellent and the salads are great. Found this place online and I was pumped as I'm a huge cafe go-er so let me start by saying the coffee regular drip was fantastic. Seriously delicious and I had it black. So props on the coffee. The food wasssss nothing exceptional. I was really hoping for a wow on the food. I had the chicken club panini and it was lacking flavor. The chicken was bland in it. I did like the green chilies! Yum. The salad was okay as well but again I was hoping for a wow factor. The ambiance was nice, pretty peace and love vibe. Lots of seating area and cute patio space. The service was fine. It was my first time here so really wish the person who took the order would've explained food options or something special about the cafe but that's just sprinkles I'm looking for on top of the cupcake. Great spot for a nice lunch outside. My father and I arrived on the California Zephyr, dropped our bags at the hotel, and wandered over for a late lunch. The staff was great and allowed me to swap turkey for beef on the reuben. It was amazing and the slaw was too. I loved the unique napkins and that they have reusable plates, napkins, and silverware. My dad loved the black bean burger, but is still trying to figure out the spice. We're only in town for one day, but would come back if we were here longer. read more

I have never in my life enjoyed eating beets. Cafe Sol has a way to make them taste magical and, for that alone, they earn five stars! But, of course, beets are just one item that dazzles the taste buds. The quinoa tabouleh is also amazing. And the paninis that come with these sides? Large, flavorful, warm, and oh-so-crunchy. This is a great little spot right in the heart of Grand Junction. We stopped in to get lunch on the way to Moab. They have a nice big menu with plenty to choose from. This is an ideal place for anyone who is vegan or gluten free. I had a delicious smoothie with apple, mango, kale, basil and oat milk. Such an interesting combo, I was totally intrigued, and not let down! I also ordered the summer salad. It was so tasty and so so fresh, but the quinoa was missing, which I definitely felt was needed. My friends and I were strolling around downtown Grand Junction and decided to stop in at Café Sol for lunch. We had a delightful time! It was quite crowded when we first arrived, with a line at the counter to order, but very quickly a table opened up and the three of us were able to sit down. The line to order moved quickly, and by the time we'd put down our bags to go up to the counter there was no wait. One of my friends just wanted coffee, but the other two of us ordered the lunch combo. My friend had the beet salad and turkey panini, and I had the pear and goat cheese salad and quiche of the day. Everything was delicious! Even my friend's coffee was yummy, and served in a real diner coffee mug. They have sustainable practices, with cloth napkins, real silverware, plates, and glasses. The portions are just right for lunch, and the food is extremely fresh, with wonderful flavors. The ambience of the café is bright, airy and welcoming, with high ceilings and local artwork covering the walls. The staff is friendly and efficient. The menu is extensive, with something to please every palate. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Café Sol and will be back soon! read more

We were driving through Grand Junction and were hungry for lunch. We looked at a list of restaurants in Grand Junction and Cafe Sol was one of the top options. We parked and walked over to the restaurant and saw it was crowded so thought it must be a good sign. -$50 for 3 paninis - No drink included in the $14 price for the sandwich Once we did receive our food and begun to eat, my whole party felt gross and I had mayonnaise dripping all over my hands. None of us finished the sandwich let alone half of one. Good food is supposed to make you feel good. This good food made us feel gross. For the price we paid we figured we deserved more than what we were given. Maybe we we're just given a bad batch or something of the sort. But our experience was not as we had hoped and hope that prospective customers can have an informed decision from both good and bad reviews! read more
