CAFÉ SOL "Latin Kitchen" Latin food is Mexican Food. For some reason my brain wants to think Central/South American food when I see the term Latin food. The CAFÉ SOL does not have arepas, empanadas, or pupusas, and everything is not fried. It is not Central/South American food. It is not OkieMex. It is more of a modern upscale, authentic Mexican food café with delicious, fresh, made from scratch versions, of trendy, popular Mexican dishes. Burritos, bowls, tortilla soup, fajitas and the pervasive "street taco." It is a nice little restaurant in a row of suites shared with several other businesses. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. Order and pay at the counter; the food is delivered. The service is exceptional and friendly. I had read reviews and scrutinized the menu before arriving. My choice was fixed. Ordering was uncomplicated. Starting with chips and the "dip trio,": salsa roja, black bean dip, and queso blanco. The main entrée choice was a Loaded Burrito. Rice, beans, cheese, lettuce*, tomato, onion, with green chili pork, rolled in a 12-inch flour tortilla, then green chili over the entire burrito. A decorative squiggle of la crema on top, and a few papas fritas on the side, in case you are still hungry after consuming the green monster burrito. These are two must try menu items (chips and salsa trio and Loaded Burrito). The stand out of the meal; delicious queso, the black bean dip was exceptional, the tasty pork, and the perfect tangy, fresh green chili covering the burrito. EAT THESE. It is unlikely that you will find a better fresher tasting burrito in Edmond. *Technically, I believe if the lettuce is inside a burrito, it then is classified as a sancho. Cafe Sol is an incredible place to have a delicious latin/mexican meal! This was some of the best customer service my family and I have ever experienced! The menu had several tasty looking options, all which looked to have great portions along with great prices. We came at lunchtime and the prices were even cheaper than what we saw listed on yelp! We tried the California Burrito and the Queso Street Tacos. Both were brought out very quickly and packed with flavor. Four different hot sauces were brought to the table, and we enjoyed every flavor ranging from mild to hot. The atmosphere of the restaurant was uplifting and welcoming, including fun music and even chips, queso, and salsa brought out to the table! 10/10 would recommend Cafe Sol! This place is a hidden gem! I tried a Carne Asada street taco and the queso for the very first time today and let me tell you, it was so good!! it came with a little side of some salsa of some sort, and what appears to be a green sauce with avocado, and they were both delicious! They complimented my street tacos so well! I loved the queso as well! It was so creamy and satisfying! The tortilla chips were fresh and I'm convinced they make them from scratch there. The owners and staff are just wonderful. The food is fresh, flavorful and came out quick. We went shortly after they opened and you walked up to order and then they brought it out to you so I'm unsure if it's still that way. I stopped by this place out of curiosity and boy am I happy I did! The atmosphere is laid back, very hospitable and the service is bar none. I had the loaded burrito ( beef) and churro bites and I am beyond stuffed. I will most definitely add this place to my regular rotation when I can. A very well deserved 5 star establishment . If you want to add spice, drizzle some habanero sauce on top and you'll get the heat you're looking for. The al pastor is cooked to perfection! Ordered a single taco and it was loaded with meat. We have driven by this restaurant dozens of times and didn't know what was waiting for us inside. My husband saw a review for Cafe Sol and showed me photos of their food online. Those photos are what sold us. We ordered the queso blanco, margaritas, street tacos-carne asada, and the fish tacos. I proclaim that the Tamales at Cafe Sol are the most authentic and delicious this side of the Rio Grande. They are the perfect balance of masa and pork, and expertly seasoned. Great food! Friendly service! I had lunch today with a couple of friends. This was our first visit and we will be back! The owner carefully explained the menu options to us which was really nice. I always appreciate any inside information about favorite menu items, etc. I forgot to take pics but we had the tortilla soup, a quesadilla and the loaded burrito. The birria shredded beef had a wonderful flavor, the loaded burrito required a take home box:) The tortilla soup was nicely seasoned and chucked full of chicken and other goodies. We highly recommend the three sauces which are on the tables. There is an avocado sauce and a tomatillo sauce which are very flavorful. Watch out the habanero sauce has a mighty kick! I took my family here because we all wanted street tacos. We wanted to sit down together and enjoy authentic Mexican street tacos for dinner. Normally, my husband brings some home from a hole in the wall place near his work in the south side but we did not want to drive there with two little kids tonight. We decided to go to Cafe Sol after reading all the great Yelp reviews. Well, it is so misleading and we are so disappointed! We ordered the street tacos meal that comes with four tacos each. We got a total of eight tacos and tried all of the different meats. The food came out very quickly and to our surprise, these were the tiniest tacos. They're wrapped with two small corn tortillas each. It takes two bites and they're gone. For $10 for four tacos, we only got tacos. We were told if we wanted sides then that's separate and extra or order the taco meal for $12 and get three tacos and two sides. Also, the chips and dips were separate. We are not a huge fan of white queso so we didn't pay $8 extra for the chips and queso blanco they had. I thought four tacos would be too much food, but we were wrong because we left still hungry. I fed some taco meats to my baby. The chicken (was more like ground chicken) was the only decent option. Everything else was too dry or bland. My baby is ten months old and is not picky at all but did not like any of the other meats. My 5 year old said there was nothing on the kids menu he wanted to eat so we got him some fries. I think the process is made to be like a fast food kind of system. You walk into the place and approach the counter to order and pay. So if you don't know what you want yet you will have to grab a menu and wait out of line. After you pay, you grab your number to go sit down. It's all self served so you go get your own utensils and drinks. Then, the food comes out. You do have to ask for salsa for the tacos and they're not spicy at all! We got the green one and orange one. Overall, it was an experience but not one we will return to. For value and quality, my husband and I decided we were better off going to a Tex-mex place like Ted's or Los Arcos in Edmond because it's more family friendly where we can sit down to order and pay for the full service. read more

My partner and I picked this place out of random from the map, needless to say we made a fine choice. This is the first restaurant since I've moved to Oklahoma where their food reminded me of my beloved Los Angeles. As soon as the appetizer arrived we did not talk at all when the food kept on coming. And we are very much talkers. The person at the front is very welcoming and gave some recommendations which helped my partner make a choice. Don't let the quiet environment fool you- this food was great! We split the nachos (+Al pastor) and the street tacos. We tried each of their meats minus chorizo, and liked the carne asada and al pastor the best! Flavors were simple and solid. The service was friendly and helpful. We had the street tacos and the enchiladas plates, with a guacamole dip as an appetizer. The guacamole could have used more spicing/ salt as it was plentiful but somewhat bland. My wife enjoyed her tacos. I was a little disappointed in my enchiladas. I didn't like the texture of the fine dice on the meats or how this fine chop wouldn't stay in the shell. Each enchilada had a different sauce. That's OK, but both the red and green sauce was applied way too sparingly and left the enchiladas on the dry side. You order before you sit down so be prepared...lol Since I knew I was getting churros, I didn't get an appetizer, but next time will try their queso. We got chicken tamales with black beans and rice and chicken enchiladas with refried beans and rice. Both dinners were top notch in the flavors. The waitress brought us out their different salsas to try. I think Salsa Verde, salsa roja, habanero salsa and then the other "unnamed" green salsa. They were all outstanding, but the habanero was my favorite. The flavors were spot on. Then came the churros. I have left restaurants that have had dirty restrooms. We had the Supreme tacos with carne asada. And the fish tacos. Chips and dips. All of it was very good and tasty.
