Marginal food. I had to send the Taco al Cabon back. The tortillas were soggy and impossible to pick up. I then ordered the cheese enchiladas. TONS of cheddar cheese. I really, really, really want to like this place. It's close to my house and is quite charming (the only reason for the second star). But, in truth, every time I go, I swear I will never go back. Tonight was really the worst. The food is so bland (e.g. the salsa is like tomato paste) and overpriced for what it is. My daughter didn't even like the cheese quesadilla, which is a dish that should be pretty hard to mess up. And now, they've gone and lost their liquor license. Don't bother! Food was on-service terrible! Lost my appetite after being so aggravated! Server seemed to think it was ok to bring soups and salads for dessert instead of prior to main course. Cafe Sabor has a fun environment and I found the staff to be friendly. I had a sweet pork burrito and wasn't too impressed. It wasn't bad, but it was just okay. I really should have gone to Costa Vida and ordered a burrito their for about the same price. Now I may have been spoiled when it comes to these kinds of things considering I grew up in Syracuse, which is about 30 minutes from El Matador and has awesome food. I'm a big fan of this place. The food is always good. I usually just get the traditional burrito. I'm not a big burrito guy, but this one is a fiesta in the boca for sure! Food: Kind of typical "Americanized" Mexican food. Decent, but not spectacular. Big portions; chips and salsa before the meal. Prices: Pretty reasonable, especially during lunch hour. Atmosphere: Great! It's built out of an old train station, and is quite an interesting place. Service was average. Food is really good and the drinks are good, IF you have time to wait for it. The train station makes for a cool environment. Service is always VERY slow. On average it takes well over an hour to eat lunch on a average day and much longer for dinner or a busy lunch day. The waiters could use better training and learn to stay on task IMO. Lost of standing around with empty water and drink glasses that need refilled and customers that could use some attention. This could be a five star place with better service and faster ticket times. We still frequently eat here but it's always a very time consuming deal, and when you have kids this makes it even harder. read more

Bland tasting Mexican food. The parking lot is always over stuffed. It's built in what used to be some kind of train station. Inside is often crowded and very noisy. The chairs and tables are always stuffed together so tight so it's a hassle to get up and move around. I don't know what it is about this place but it always so awkward and stuffy there. It's also very loud inside. In the summer it's hot and muggy. Feels like a cafeteria. Service is a bit sluggish. Food is bland and mostly flavorless. Everything taste mushy and soaking wet in some kind of bland soggy sauce. If you want Mexican food that taste good go somewhere else. read more

Gringo Mo-Mex (three times the cheese, none of the spice) in an appealing historic train station. Passable American Mexican. Don't go expecting more, and you'll be ok. If you ask for "spicy," they might open a bottle of paprika five blocks away. (I once had an earnest and eager waiter ask me if I wanted "mole" on my burrito. Not "mol-e," a la Spanish, but "mole." No, I do NOT want a small sightless rodent on my burrito, thank you.). The building is neat though, and the wait staff is friendly. read more

I love Cafe Sabor. The environment is super unique and provides for an awesome eating experience. Their portions are pretty hearty, so I prefer to split my meal or I order an appetizer as a main course--my current favorite is the blackened shrimp tostada! I always enjoy eating here! read more

My first time in Logan I ate at Cafe Sabor, it was great!! I recommend the Cali chimichanga it's not huge but very filling, the service was pretty fast and the chips and salsa were yummy. Overall I was pretty satisfied better than most Mexican places read more

My significant other and I were looking for Mexican cuisine for her birthday and decided to check out Café Sabor. It's located at the old Logan train station and is a pretty interesting building. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food portions were large and relatively cheap although some selections seemed a bit too high. The food itself was pretty good, but nothing overwhelmingly great (the guacamole was bland). However, there was a variety of drinks and drink specials (Friday $3 margs and Monday $2 shocktops just to name a few). read more

When my wife's fish tacos came breaded, which she can't have, the server replaced them with non-breaded salmon, and didn't even charge us for the extra tacos which we got to bring home to a friend! Some people love it, others hate it. I find the entrees to be a bit heavy on the cream side--lots of creamy sauces that just get boring after a bit. It's not your authentic, traditional Mexican food. That said, the food is high quality, very delicious, and the service and atmosphere are what you expect from a Justin Hamilton owned restaurant. I've never had a bad meal there. read more

I am sad to see all of the poor reviews. I worked for Cafe Sabor from 2005-2007. I've been a hostess and a server, and the tortillas are made fresh- the user who said they are not, probably saw the CORN tortillas which we did not make fresh, those were warmed up so pay more attention when trying to assume. :) It isn't the BEST looking place because it was converted from a train station and they have kept a lot of the natural look to it- which to some is considered dirty or greasy, but they are constantly doing new things to make it a better experience. It is either hot or cold, being a server was tough- especially serving on the CLEAR far patio. Trust me, walking orders from the kitchen out there and back and forth wasn't always fun (but we were willing to get hot and sweaty to earn that tip!). It also wasn't fun walking orders up and down the stairs to the upper seating used on weekends. Dress accordingly- if it's cold outside dress very warm. If it's hot outside then request a shaded patio spot :) Most restaurants are freezing so I don't know why one user was surprised by the temperature. As far as the food- I would suggest a user to try Pollo Durango, it's a chicken dish with creamy sauce including mushrooms and cilantro. I get it with no mushrooms. It comes with 3 fresh made tortillas, rice and beans, and it is heaven. I live in SLC now, but I go to Logan frequently and love to stop by Cafe Sabor. If you don't like the creamy dish, try Arroz Con Pollo, this is a bed of rice with red sauce all over, topped with cheese and then vegetables on top- including onions, red peppers, green peppers, etc. It also comes with 3 fresh tortillas to wrap up the goodness :) I have also loved the Sweet Pork Quesadillas. The jalepeno jelly is pretty amazing (my mom always has to have extra) and I've never had a problem heating up my left overs the next day. Hopefully my review has helped some of you consider to either go back or try one of these dishes. I don't know why this place only has three stars. We once planned our whole anniversary trip in Logan just so we could eat here :) Maybe people are just ordering the wrong thing? We have ordered Pollo Durango (LOVE the freshly cooked tortillas), Pork Quesadillas (holy cow flavorful salsa), and Spinach Artichoke dip appetizer (my hubby's favorite). It's seriously a good thing we don't live in Logan, because we would spend waaaaaay too much money at this place. The service was fine, the atmosphere was fine (always a little crowded), but the food makes it all worth it. The positives are the beautiful and interesting setting (former train station), the homemade chips and good salsa. Also the wait staff are friendly and easy going. The margarita was not particularly good and I would say that the food is simply average. It has the typical Mexican massive amounts of food with the emblematic plate of beans and rice topped with mountains of cheese. I can say the food here is not nearly as good or inventive as some of the unique Mexican restaurants we have tried of late in Oregon, Nevada and Arizona. read more

As a recent SLC transplant my choices of Mexican food have been lackluster and just plain sad. After driving 100 miles I found a little Mexican dream in cache valley.
