With friendly staff, incredible food, and a very welcoming atmosphere, Cafe Reyes is one of my favorite local breakfast/lunch spots. My only complaint is that I can never get there often enough. If there's anything bad on the menu, I'd be surprised. The sandwiches are excellent, and the breakfast food is to die for. The lunch options I'm sure are great, though I have yet to try them. Wow wow wow. I'm so glad I live about 5 minutes away from this GEM of a place. I had heard good things about Café Reyes before visiting and they were all absolutely true. You already feel like you're walking into your grandmother's cozy home as soon as you arrive. The staff was friendly and lively, very attentive to us. But dios mío the true star is the food. Mofongo is one of my favorite dishes and as a proud Boricua, it's safe to say I've had more than a few. One thing to know is that it's easy to screw up mofongo - it can be too dry, flavorless, or hardened because of the dense nature of plantains. Their mofongo was absolutely perfect, moist all the way through and packed with so much flavor that I was still thinking about it after I got home. My boyfriend ordered the Lechón which was also fantastic. We both felt like we were immediately transported back to our little island and we loved our experience. read more

My grandson and I went for breakfast and were not greeted acknowledged nothing people came and went and were ushered in to sit. Finally my grandson asked when we would be seated and was told in a few minutes so he asked if he could place a takeout order and they let him do that. Food was just ok nothing special. Warm and inviting atmosphere. I started off with a Cuban coffee which was delicious hot. I noticed everyone coming in was warmly greeted by more than one person. Not just good, very good! The Cuban sandwich is to die for, very similar to the style you will find in the famous places in Miami. The menu is small but the quality is top notch and super fresh, lots of fried food that are made to order, not just sitting there and reheated. Everything we sampled today was delicious. We will definitely be back for more and be back often, as some of you know (if your a fan) it's hard to find good, or any for that matter Cuban food and a great Cubano sandwich. Something worth noting is Reyes Cafe is non profit, and works with people that are homeless and have had addiction problems in the past, I think it's great that they are helping these people out and I am happy to support them. 6 STARS!!! read more

Cafe Reyes: Good on authentic recipes and vibe, short on menu selections and flexibility. We stopped into Cafe Reyes because a real Cuban told me that there are only a few places to eat Cuban food in Massachusetts. There are two in Boston (JP to be exact), one of which is a knockout known quantity, El Oriental de Cuba. Cafe Reyes was the Worcester location, and since I live in town, we came in for lunch. Pros -The FOOD! Cubano was perfect, plantains sweet and juicy. GET THE MOJO (Mo-ho to all you gringos) for the side! Cafe con leche was as expected, nice and tasty. My date and I finished our plates, clean plate club style! -The vibe in there is excellent. Inviting, with bright colors, lots of Cubanismo, a cool bar, and a great little dining parlor. Great to meet with friends or coworkers, though not that romantic. -The restaurant is in an easy to find location on Shrewsbury Street -Cafe Reyes is a non-profit that helps people re-assimilate by providing jobs. This scores some karma points! Cons -No parking lot, there is one next door but DONT PARK THERE YOU WILL GET YELLED AT. I did. Whelp. -Its only open for lunch, which I think could change, I think people would love a pork plate or cubano sandwich for takeout at night. -Service is a work in progress, they seemed inexperienced and overcompensating in this department.\ -They're working on the menu and I get that its small as they build their business. Location: The restaurant is right off of Shrewsbury street. I was able to park right outside but I don't know if there's any parking specifically for the place. They do have outdoor seating but it's pretty small; just two low tables with chairs in front of the business. The indoors is very well decorated and seems like a very friendly place to eat. Service: The staff were very nice and polite. We spoke about what they were doing here and why the place has such short hours. They told me they were in culinary school when they were not working here but in another month they will have longer hours. They staff were very attentive and they even loved hanging out with my dog. :) Food: I ordered the el Cubano (Cuban sandwich) with plantain chips, ice tea, and tres leches cake. The sandwich was amazing. It has a great balance of meat with pickle and mustard. The bread was well toasted and everything came together to make an amazing sandwich. The plantain chips are to die for. I would go back just for that alone. The tres leches cake was moist and sweet; just what I would expect a tres leches cake. Overall: I love the mission of the restaurant but even if I didn't know it, I would come back over and over again. The staff are super friendly and I can't wait to go back. read more

Very lively place, felt like we just stepped into Summertime even though it's Winter and we both have miserable colds. Bright colors, meringue music playing, clean and friendly atmosphere-we quickly forgot that it was Winter, that we were in Worcester and that we were sick! Someone greeted and seated us right away, which was great as we avoided 3 other breakfast joints with long lines. We were lucky to get a parking space right out front , however parking may be scarce next time around (maybe next time we will park at Picadilly plaza and walk over?) The Cafe con Leche was yum! I ordered the 2 eggs with cuban toast and potatoes which was delish, served on nice bright plates. Friendly waiter who was quick to serve us. Everything was neat and clean. Pleasant experience, we will definitely be back to try lunch, maybe a cubano sandwich? And this place helps the local community as it is part of Hector Reyes, a sober treatment house. Tried for the first time this week. Very cute place, felt like walking into an island cafe. Vibrant, colorful and friendly staff with music. We sat outside on the deck. It was nice but it's right next to the train tracks so can be loud. I could have sat there all day. Our meal was great. It was a special - mashed plaintains with salad and you could order choice of meat. We had the ropa vieja which was shredded beef with peppers, onions and olives. The only problem was when we asked what the ropa vieja was the waiter said rice and beans with Cuban meat. So we decided to try it. There was no rice or beans anywhere but it was good anyway so we didn't say anything. The Cuban meat was beef. I'd definitely order it again. The best part of this place is the staff. They are so friendly and eager to please. I'm on crutches and they went out of their way to help me. And it was all of the staff, not just one nice person. The waiter was also very attentive and even the chef popped over to see how we liked it. This place is unique- it's a non-profit that trains recovering addicts to cook and work in food service. The hours are a little prohibitive so I only just yesterday managed to go despite wanting to for several weeks. It feels like you are eating at your Grandmothers house. There is a pleasant comfy area where one can enjoy the many drinks and I imagine would be positively delightful to sit and read. If you venture further in there are several tables in a cozy dining area. The staff members were two very genuinely nice men who really made the experience for me (well them and the phenomenal food that I'll tell you about momentarily). I ordered a Cuban sandwich (el cubano) with plantain chips and my lunch companion ordered Pan con lechón. First off you get an awful lot of food for $7.95, I'm a fairly big eater and I only barely finished mine, I would say you may want to split a sandwich with a friend. The sandwich was perfectly constructed (which is an area I'm often pet peeved in when a sandwich is poorly constructed) and as delicious as it was beautiful. The plantain chips (which were new to me) were also very good, they also ask if you want to modify the sandwich in anyway which is a nice touch, I opted to have it as is so as to get as authentic an experience as possible. I have already recommended this restaurant to several people and my friend and I raved about the experience for the entirety of our return trip. read more

Had been meaning to try this place for a while and so glad I finally did. My wife and I split the mofongo and a chorizo empanada and it was delicious. We finished up with some flan and the cafe con leche and it made sure for a perfect lunch. My parents had Cuban sandwiches and both really enjoyed there's as well. Very very disappointed. Heard so many good things about this place so decided to give it a try. The place was not busy at all, and all the surrounding tables had already eaten besides one table who we heard order. We sat at the table for 40 minutes and not only did we not have drinks in that time but no one said a word to us. It's a small place and the waiter clearly saw we were sitting there waiting. After 35 minutes of waiting we see the two gentlemen (the guy who worked at the door and the waiter) right outside the window both smoking cigarettes and one was on FaceTime. Best Cuban restaurant in Worcester! Ok, its the only Cuban restaurant in Worcester, but they certainly aren't slacking due to the lack of competition. The coffee options are numerous and very reasonably priced, a full French press is only $4 and I think this is the only place in Worcester that does French press coffee. The food menu has all the Cuban breakfast and lunch standbys. I went with the breakfast Cuban which is basically the classic Cuban sandwich with egg on it. It was good, although I've had better bread. It comes with a couple fried plantains, which are always delightful. Cafe Reyes is a simple experience, but very satisfying. The exterior just looks like a slightly shabby old house, but the inside is bright and airy and they have a copper top bar (no alcohol though). It should be in any Worcester residents breakfast or lunch rotation. read more

Was very excited to find a Cuban restaurant nearby. The service was a bit slow, but everything we ordered was worth the wait! We had a Cuban sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, and flan. While waiting for our food, I learned that the restaurant serves as an on-site training center for residents and graduates of the Hector Reyes House. The Hector Reyes House is a bilingual/bicultural treatment center for Latino men in recovery. Not only do they have tasty Cuban food, but they do great work as well! The Cuban huevos con papas and the Cuban breakfast sandwich were delicious and just the right size. The sandwich was more on the bigger size but fits the price tag. And speaking of price, the prices fit the bill. The inside of the restaurant is very nice, very clean, nicely painted and not cramped. Walking in you're greeted with nice cool colors that are carried through out the place. There is a nice variety of coffees to pick from. We the had the Cafe frio, which was smooth and the double Cuban cortado, which had a nice kick and it was sufficiently foamy. The place is a bit loud from preparing drinks in the blender and from the staff communicating with eachother; however, we were not bothered by it too much. The staff is friendly. We were greeted when we walked in and shown to our table and our orders promptly taken. We will definitely be back and plan on bringing our breakfast club with us to this Cuban themed cafe. We love that the restaurant is part of a local recovery program for Latino men. P.s. Make sure you ask for a glass of water. This is such a great spot! I love going for breakfast, the cafe con leche is amazing. Love the Cuban breakfast sandwich and Spanish tortilla. Black bean soup for lunch is crazy. All plantains are crazy. The servers are all so nice- and what a great mission! Really make me and my wife feel at home when we bring our infant there. Also they have a menorah and other Hanukkah stuff set up for the holiday season, alongside other holiday decorations. Little things like that show how thoughtful they are at cafe Reyes. The food is out of this world! It is always on point. I love the Cuban breakfast; pork sandwich with an egg. Delicious!! My wife and I had a great breakfast here. The cafe is really nice inside and the staff were very friendly. We both got the coffee and it was the best coffee in Worcester, we regret not getting a cup to go. We had the guava pastry, breakfast sandwich, and egg plate.
