    Cafe Cubano

Stop in for cafe cubano and a Cuban sandwich every time I am near Worcester. Brings me back to Miami. So good. Try the guava and cheese pastry. It's to die for!

Amazing and friendly service. It was refreshing to see staff genuinely happy to be there. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and make sure we were taken care of even taking food to go. Food was delicious! My favorite being the empanada of the day- chicken and cheese

Awesome food with an even better mission. Highly recommend stopping by for breakfast or lunch sometime if you're craving some Latin American food.

Breakfast was served and was a bit hit!

Wilmer Rivera and Luis Vera provided an excellent catered experience for our Youth Worker Training Institute Graduation Breakfast! We had 60 very happy individuals who enjoyed scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, Cuban toast, juices and Cuban coffee. The entire experience, from ordering to delivery and set-up was fantastic! It was such a huge help to know that I had nothing to worry about and Cafe Reyes was handing everything! I highly recommend you try their catering for your next event!

Absolutely amazing - I was blown away! First, the ambiance is perfect. The cafe itself is so cute, everything is so pretty and bright! Our server was very kind and the service was great. I've seen a lot of reviews speaking about long wait times even when the cafe is empty but our food and drinks were out quickly! The food was delicious and beyond worth the price. I started with a coffee which was probably the best I've had and the aesthetic? *chef's kiss* My friend recommended that I try their breakfast version of a Cuban sandwich and it was to die for. The flavors were great and the portion size was great - I had some for later :) Overall, such a great experience and some awesome food, I will definitely have to visit again!

Amazing I would highly recommend this place for a moment I thought I was in Cuba the Host and Lorenzo the barrister made us feel welcomed and the food seasoned and cooked just right and the breads were delicious soft melt in your mouth good Great family breakfast spot

Had a wonderful group lunch at Cafe Reyes. We tried all kinds of dishes and they were all to die for. The lechón asado, ropa vieja, Cuban sandwich, and mofongo were our favorites. The service was excellent and the manager, Wilmer, is very friendly and accommodating. We will be back soon!

Great place. Coffee excellent. Sandwich a little overcooked. Cuban bread was very good. Not really a fan of a fried egg overcooked. But the chorizo was great. Not bad. Not bad at all

    Ropa Vieja. SO AMAZING!

I cannot say enough about Cafe Reyes! This gem is 100% authentic. Food is FANTASTIC. Gilbert was our excellent and attentive server (ask for him and make sure you tip well!) Service, unlike many Hispanic and Latino joints in the area, is bilingual and outstanding. So if you don't speak Spanish do NOT worry! English is easily understood and spoken. Have a seat! There is ample space here and you can choose to sit either indoors or outside. The interior is brilliantly colored, much like you would find in Cuba, Puerto Rico and the islands, and felt so sunny and happy! I would absolutely recommend the Ropa Vieja. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, full of flavor, and plentiful. It arrived with a side of white rice, sweet, ripe plantains and fresh black beans. The presentation was EVERYTHING! And the taste was everything I expected...and more. I will be back and next time I'll bring my family!!

But one is something better than what the Place offered for food. Saw this nicely highly rated place and decided to check it out. This is a small mom and pops Restaurant when you first walk in the aroma of all the spices and the cooking reminds you of something from home. It's a acquaint place probably only seats about 20 people. Sing a table you have the atmosphere of being in Cuba except that it was 25° and we're in New England so now to the food we got the fried pork belly the pork sandwich and the Cuban all were very nicely made good quality, quality quality of food. Excellent bread did they use each bite was very savory and felt like it was cooked by your mom. Definitely leave her in the area and you're looking for something different. It's a must check out..

Parking can be a challenge here but you should be able to find some available street parking. When you enter Havana Cafe it feels authentic. I've never been to Cuba so of course take that with a grain of salt but I love the way they decorated and the music that was playing. Even though the restaurant is small we did not have trouble getting a 2 person seat. There were a few "reserved" tables as well so next time I visit I'll probably call ahead just to be safe Our waiter was incredible. Friendly, attentive, and offered some helpful suggestions. He was all of these things without being too pushy and made sure we felt properly checked on. I definitely recommend him but I wish I grabbed a name. For food we ordered a cheese and chicken empanada. Our waiter also brought out cilantro and habanero sauces. The empanadas were both incredibly crispy and filled will. The chicken was tender and had an intense but pleasant flavor. However, I think I preferred the cheese empanada. The sauces were both excellent as well. Even though I'm not a fan of cilantro I still liked this sauce! For dinner I had the fried sirloin with congris and fried yuca. The sirloin was perfectly tender and fried well. The yuca was also perfectly crispy while the congris was cooked well and had an excellent garlic flavor. I would definitely order this again. Some pictures made me think the portions would be small but I was satisfied after finishing my dish. We skipped dessert even though I was heavily debating trying the flan (maybe next time). My partner told me this was one of his "new favorite restaurants" which is high praise. I can not recommend Cafe Havana enough!

** Updating previous review with more tapas rankings **…read more Yuca Frita (9.5/10): These are so freaking delicious, wow. The cilantro aioli was an amazing dipping sauce. They really are fried to perfection. Frituras de Maiz: (10/10): Wow, these fritters are also amazing. They come with such a rich sauce. The fritters are exploding with flavor. Cazuela de Coliflor Asada (9/10): Insanely good dish. The cauliflower has perfect texture, complemented by the pistachios. The sauce is SO good. The cauliflower soaks it up so well. Chicharrones (9/10): Melt in your mouth pork belly. The pork skin crust was perfect. The sauces really make most of the dishes here. This dish is no different - I loved the sauce. Ropa Vieja (9/10): Perfectly slow cooked meat. One thing that really stood out to me was actually the white rice. The rice was VERY high quality, and I appreciated it so much. It's rare to come by rice this good. It had the perfect texture, chew, and fragrance. Ropa Vieja de Hongos (9/10): Pretty much the same as Ropa Vieja above. The mushrooms are delicious, and the dish is just as good whether your order the mushroom or steak version. Empanada del Carne (9/10): Oh man, the crusts are so good. This is pretty on par with the ones I just had in Puerto Rico. Chuletas de Cordero (8/10): The seasoning is heavenly. I was licking the lamb chops clean. Croquetas (8/10): Very solid croquetas. Wouldn't say it's a must-order, but you can't go wrong with them. Costillas a la Guayaba (6/10): The first time I had this it was really nicely marinated, and the rib meat is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. The second time, the meat was dry. Maduros con Tocino (6.5/10): This dish was pretty good, but got overshadowed by the other ones. Pulpo (6.5/10): Octopus was tender and savory. The potatoes were too salty. Camarones a la Plancha (6.5/10): Solid dish, but I enjoyed some other ones even more. Ensalada de Aguacate y Pina (6/10): The salad was a bit too sour, and that sourness overpowered the dish. It was a great blend of ingredients, though. *** and one dessert *** Churros con Chocolate (8.5/10): Big crunchy fluffy churros!! The chocolate sauce is amazing (not really spicy at all). You have to get this for dessert!!

I finally tried the Cubano today, and it's the best Cubano sandwich I've had in CT. I know everybody is anxious to hear a guy originally from the Ohio suburbs break down a Cubano sandwich. So hear you go. Many CT places make good Cubanos, but they're more Cubano-adjacent than authentic. I don't think anybody but La Cocina gets the bread right in CT. The owners' Dad is Cuban and has owned a bakery. He makes the bread for these Cubanos. The bread is what you would find at the good Miami bakeries and sandwich shops. Fresh. Thin. Wide. Tasty. It has terrific color and texture when it's pressed on a Plancha. A lot of CT places have some good ingredients for their Cubanos, but the balance of ingredients and flavors is wrong in some way. A Cubano has two flavorfully impactful ingredients -- Mustard and Pickles. Although ham can be too salty in large quantities, the remaining Cubano ingredients are more or less mild. Swiss has less salt than many cheeses. And the pork umami flavor is subtle as well. I find some places ruin their sandwiches with an overly aggressive mustard or distracting pickles. La Cocina's Cubano flavors are perfectly balanced, and really allow the juiciness and umami flavors of the slow roasted citrus Mojo marinated pork and the texture of the bread to stand out. The sliced pickles are tasty and almost have a slight Gherkin vibe to the brine, and the mustard is mild and applied in a quantity that complements and doesn't overpower anything. The Swiss was perfectly melted and stretchy, and its mild flavor was just right. I highly recommend La Cocina's Cubano. Check their Socials to find the truck at locations such as near Bushnell Park and Trinity College. 5 Stars

I walked over to check out the menu and met the owner Steven cheffing away inside the truck. He had a chicken sandwich on the grill that looked phenomenal (which my friend actually ended up ordering, and said it was too) ...but after our conversation he suggested the most popular item, the Cuban Sandwich. It only felt right as he explained to me that he is the ONLY food truck in CT that sells them and that he himself was Cuban. The flavor was so authentic and the combination was perfection. The mustard, pickles, cheeses, meats and even the bread was all a 10! I highly recommend giving them a try and if you're looking for them, they are normally located at 67 Fishfry St in Hartford.
