For sure my favorite breakfast spot in the Rehoboth beach area. The crepes made here are spot on. Light, fluffy, and packed full of fresh ingredients, one of the most attractive things about this cafe is the ability to see your order come to life right in front of you. The split window system works well, allowing families or couples to split up in order to get their beverages and food quickly and efficiently.The alleyway in which this cafe is situated has a cozy atmosphere, including the outdoor pavilion that includes the seating. The only downside to this spot is the outdoor location which makes it unpleaseant to visit on wet or overly hot/humid days. While customers may wait longer periods of time for crepes, it is to be expected as everything is made fresh to order. Overall I personally cannot wait to go back for my favorite banana, Nutella, and whipped cream crepe! read more

We always make sure we stop by for croissants at Cafe Papillon when we are visiting Rehoboth. This year they started accepting credit cards but cash is preferred. We normally stick to the sweet croissants but they are all delicious! I have yet to meet a croissant as good as the ones at Cafe Papillon stateside and always look forward to strolling the charming penny lane mall to get my fix during vacation. The walk up window is convenient for current time covid precautions and patrons all were observing the social distancing norms. The crepes are also delicious but do take some time if there is a line as they are made fresh to order right at the window. After coming to Rehoboth for years, I finally stopped here on a recent visit. I'm so glad we did! We just wanted a little snack (that's what we tend to do at the beach!) so we shared a strawberries and creme crepe. After waiting about ten minutes in line it was totally worth it! The strawberries were fresh and actually tasted like what strawberries should taste like! The setting is really nice. It's located in Penny Lane, a little alley off of Rehoboth Ave. Lots of tables and chairs (probably about one dozen tables). Can't wait to go back! read more

Ive been coming to this place for the past 20 years or so (however long its been open.) Although I didnt start getting the crepes until the last 7 years or so... My family's all time favorite to get here is the almond croissant, soo good. Unfortunately if you show up past 10 you have a very small selection. (This morning they had some raspberry & cheese, spinach & cheese, 1 butter, 1 almond, and a few sweet cheese croissants left...) The crepse are good too, I like their sweet crepes but was not a huge fan of the savory. I think they might use swiss cheese which I don't like much. read more

This place is somewhat off the beaten path in Rehoboth, but it is worth leaving the boardwalk and main strip of town. Surrounding by quaint shops and located in a small cobblestone alleyway, Cafe Papillon has some of the best, and largest, dessert crepes I have ever had. Unfortunately I only discovered the cafe at the end of my trip, otherwise I would have been able to sample more of their menu. However, during my visit I had both the Nutella/strawberry/cream and the blueberry/cream crepe. It is unique because you are able to watch the server prepare the crepe right in front of you - I mean it, a mere 6-inches away! Plus, the server that helped my girlfriend and I was quite friendly - always a positive! Either stop by for breakfast (they open at 8AM) or save room for dessert. It's the perfect combination of tasty French pastries and the beach. Cafe papillon has now provided me a great experience of sitting on the beach with a hot tea and a stellar croissant. My favorites include the spinach and cheese croissant but not far behind to add a sweet tinge is the sweet creme croissant. I've now found a new tradition while at Rehoboth. read more

The butterly has spread its wings. First and foremost, get here by 7:45am when there's only a short line - any other time of day, there will be an enormous line. It's worth the wait in my opinion, but it can get hot. Croissants of all kinds to satisfy the breakfast or lunch cravings of all the different people in your family. Chocolate for the kids, ham & cheese for the grownups, etc.(my favorite is the raspberry sweet cheese). Good, solid coffee (get the espresso as it provides a nice bitter contrast to the sweet croissants). Also, it's not on the menu, but they often have baguettes for sale, so buy one of these for a snack on the beach later. Cash only, and only a few tables, but definitely worth it. I like to arrive early and give a nice French sneer to the slobs who couldn't get there before 8am, and then I take my time and order slowly and engage in lots of small talk with the friendly staff; it's a nice way to get in the mood for a delicious Parisian breakfast. read more

Had a late breakfast here this past weekend. I got the egg and cheese crepe and the nutella crepe, and my mom got the cinnamon and brown sugar crepe. We loved all of them! Went for breakfast on a Thursday morning and were met with long lines for the crepe side (which we couldn't wait in due to a fussy baby) We went to the second counter and were met with a wonderful counter staff, who noticed our ticking time bomb of a kid and expedited our coffee and tea orders and quickly filled our sandwich orders. I had the smoked salmon sandwich on a fresh baguette and was beyond pleased with my meal. Everything was fresh and flavorful and I was very full! In our party we tried the egg, cheese and tomato crepe, strawberries and whipped cream crepe, butter croissants, and coffee. Everyone was satisfied. What a great little gem of a cafe located off the Main Street in Rehoboth, stopped by and ordered the chicken salad sandwich on a baguette. It was amazing not swimming in mayo. From the food to the quaint presentation, Café Papillon is an essential alternative to the hustle and bustle of Rehoboth's Boardwalk food. I'll be honest, I'm a huge fan of Nutella and their Nutella Banana Crepe capped an excellent end to an excellent day at the beach. You get to watch your order cooked right under your nose as the scents of excellent pastries waft through the air. Delicate gem embedded in the beautiful European style street. It's located in a small street called penny lane mall. The crepe was delicious and the service was great. Personally, the blueberry and whipped cream combo was my favorite because it's fresh and delicious. Definitely worth checking out while visiting Rehoboth Beach. Located down Penny Lane and reminiscent of a quaint French outdoor cafe, you will not find a better crepe in the state. The wait can be long, so come early when the sun is down or be prepared to bake in the summer! The service has been great every time - mostly foreign employees but they seem to take pride in what they do and understand English; everyone has been pleasant. Loved everything about this place besides the wait, but good things take time! Hubby and I ordered the Ham and Cheese, the Smoked Salmon, egg, cheese, chive and a Bannana and Nutella. All 3 were to die for. The cheese was wonderfully salty, the crepe chewy (even softer for the savory crepe over the sweet) and while we doubted we could eat 3 when we started, we made some room in the tummy. I've been coming here for many years. They're wonderful. You can't go wrong no matter what you order. My only gripe is that after all these years, they're still a cash only establishment. If you're like me and prefer making everyday purchases on a credit card for points, rewards and travel, then daily trips here aren't going to help you; best they do is force you to become reacquainted with the local ATM. Lines can be long and croissants seem to disappear quite fast between 8am and 10am. I recommend arriving early and with cash in hand. read more

Amazing crepes, have been here several times. As others have mentioned the line can be long, with a wait 30-45 minutes... but well worth it. They have a take out window only with a few outdoor tables. You might get nervous to see that all the tables are taken, but as people eat they will leave quickly. Crepe can be shared but can eat a whole one with a good appetite. Favorites for dessert are the lemon and strawberry/Nutella/whipped cream... for savory the ham/egg/cheese/tomato. Hit or miss for the long line, sometimes you can come back and the line will be pretty short. Came around 10pm for dessert crepes and we waited about 10 minutes. read more
