Great little cafe on Main Street in Stowe, VT. I was in Stowe, VT for a boards review course and stopped by Cafe on Main a couple of times for lunch, snacks, and drinks. Cafe on Main offers breakfast, lunch, and a bakery. I tried various pastries and all were well made and delicious. I also tried the tuna salad sandwich which was well flavored and tasty. Cafe on Main is small and located in a larger building with a bunch of different stores. Despite the small space, Cafe on Main has tables for its customers. And, from the looks of things, it's a very popular establishment! Locals and visitors alike seem to frequent Cafe on Main! Definitely stop by for a coffee and pastry if you're in town! read more

I was feeling sick and decided to order their chicken noodle soup. The soup was very flavorful and filled with noodles, chicken, and veggies. It definitely filled me up and actually made me feel a bit better. It wasn't overly watered down or anything. This place can get pretty busy so its best to order for take-out. We came here because it was not so far from where we were staying. The guy with the glasses that I think was the owner was funny and nice. The place is located inside a building with 4 other random stores. This place should probably move to its own little building because the atmosphere would be a lot better if it was alone. We got the oatmeal with maple and candied walnuts. This stick to your ribs food was hearty and fulfilling. Couldn't even finish it but I wanted to. Would recommend this place since it seems like Stowe lacks great breakfast places. It's the best one yet. read more

Excellent food and service. Went for breakfast. Had a yummy Western omelette full of veggies and ham. Price was very reasonable. It's a small eating area but we found a table easily. There's shops in the same building which was convenient for our souvenir shopping. read more

This place is average at best. We got our breakfast quickly. I got the 2 eggs special with a side of homefries and it was OKAY. Very greasy...not something you'd expect from a cafe, but from a hole in the wall diner. Their cookies were pretty good, I wouldn't hype it up like the other reviewers have. Came here for the first time today and loved it. After getting burgers and larger lunch all week while on vacation my husband and I just wanted a good deli sandwich. This place hit the spot! I had the 'Sal'ami sandwich and my husband had the turkey sandwich. I loved the hot pepper spread on mine, gave it a nice kick. My husband was a fan of the cranberry mayo with the mustard on his sandwich. I'm very picky when it comes to deli sandwiches since I used to work in a deli for many years. Clam chowder was great, grilled cheese was spectacular and the flavor never got old or felt too heavy (like some grilled cheeses can), and the chicken salad was delicious and nut-free! Simple, fresh and delicious - our go-to spot for quick brekkie or lunch in Stowe! I especially love their chicken salad with celery, dried cranberries and fresh dill. Hubs says the black bean burger is one of the yummiest he's ever had and made him want to continue trying Veggie burgers. Daughter love the grilled cheese - very melty on delicious homemade bread. I was up in Stowe about 2 weeks ago for a ski trip with my family, and we arrived a couple of hours before our house was ready. We were hungry and Yelp led us to this wonderful cozy cafe. The atmosphere felt very welcoming, the wait staff was so nice and helpful. Since we just missed breakfast, they were offering us to sample some of the soups that were fresh made for lunch. The soups were AMAZING!! It was exactly what we needed to warm us up!! The menu is written on a blackboard, and they have so many selections of sandwiches and salads. From my understanding the soups change daily, but if you are in town and they are serving it, you must try the Tomato Soup!!! Everyone was very friendly, the sitting area was very clean, and the prices are extremely reasonable! We had such a good experience, that on our last day in Stowe, we came back for a second helping of some delicious cafe snacks! read more

If you find yourself in downtown Stowe, this is a place you must eat at. The staff is extremely kind. I can not emphasize the staff enough, extremely considerate, and truly want to give you the best experience and meal. The food was great too, I had the western omelette and a side of home fries and both were delectable. The atmosphere is very calm and laid back, and the restaurant is located in a kind of mall. Had lunch at the Cafe on thursday. Wonderful. My wife and I split a great turkey sandwich with a cup of soup... black cherry soda for me, followed by a white chocolate and cranberry cookie... yum... the staff is very friendly and will make a suggestion if you are confused by all the great options... and of course, sit down outside to eat, talk and people watch. This place was located in a building that had a gift shop, a bookstore, and a clothing store. If you want to grab a bite to eat and shop a little then this is a good place to go if you are visiting Stowe. That is only if you have no plans and want to just shop around. Cafe on Main have many different kinds of sandwiches and soup. I ordered ginger and carrot soup and a roast beef sandwich. The soup was AMAZING. My boyfriend ordered chicken noodle soup and that was great, too! I will warn you that if you look on the menu on yelp, they may not have the soup that you want. You'd have to call and ask them what kind of soup they are serving that day. The roast beef sandwich was okay! I have better sandwiches but it was okay! I ordered for pick up and it was all ready for me to come pick it up. Glad I ordered it to go because the cafe was PACKED. However, if you are in no rush and would like to shop around the building (it's a small building) then go for it! read more

Love this local cafe. When staying at the GMI, we walk up the hill for coffee and breakfast everyday. The staff is wonderful, really friendly. Their baked goods are made on the premises and are delicious as are the items in the case for sandwiches, salads, etc. There are a few outside tables. The combination of great food, coffee and a great staff make this our favorite place for breakfast/coffee when visiting Stowe. read more

I love this place. Their sandwiches are complex yet simple, and their baked goods are the finest examples of what pastries should be. But I have never been able to enjoy or even try any of their breakfasts because they stop serving breakfast at an unholy hour before eleven. I've been to Stowe a dozen times, and have never yet managed to get there in time for breakfast. A justified reason to take away a star? I think so. Stowe is a vacation destination, and who gets up so early? I'll bet their breakfast sandwiches are as perfect as their lunchtime sandwiches. I wish I could order one in advance and ask them to simply hold it for me. I'll go back the next time I'm in Stowe, but I just wish I could try one of their breakfast sandwiches. read more
