Baked pork chop over spaghetti
Con C.

Fast efficient service, decent prices. Got the baked pork chop which was 3/5. Small pieces of overcooked pork chop, somewhat tough and all bone. Sauce was lacking flavor. Tomato beef was decent 4/5 with real tomatoes and a tangy sauce. Missing a few green items but over tasty. Coffee was good. Friendly diner ambiance with lots of diners inside

Cafe New Honolulu is a great saichan cafe with delicious food and ultra fast service. Their HK milk tea is good, especially if you prefer it a little lighter/with less concentrated tea flavor. The sticky rice is excellent with strong wok and BBQ Smokey flavors -- one of the best I've ever tasted, the baked bolognese is great too. Cafe New Honolulu has a large menu and almost everything I've tried has been good to very, very good. It's also got a simple, easy ambiance and the service is super fast and friendly. Definitely worth a stop in for snack or meal of any size!

Haven't had Cafe Honolulu since before the pandemic. Came here with my parents and it was very good. The prices are very reasonable and all 3 dishes together were less than $30 total. The noodles had very good wok hay. The beef rice rolls looked a bit plain but the wrapper had a nice chew and flavor. My favorite was the congee, it had a lot of pork and preserved egg. Glad to see that the quality has been consistent.

Clean, fast, tasty, reasonable, big menu...Cantonese pop songs...convenient near 30 Stockton bus stop and Chinatown post office across the street. One block from muni underground metro. They have soup noodles, rice dishes, fried noodles, steam noodles-cheung fun, baked dishes...HK style cafe. Easy to point to what you want or call it by number. Fast service. Everything was very tasty and authentic Asian cuisine. Good value.

It was a day when I was swamped and had not eaten anything yet. Growing up, I loved to eat at HK-style Cafes. I ordered simple rice rolls with dried shrimp and iced milk tea. You could taste the freshness from the rice rolls, and the milk tea was not the powdered stuff, which you could tell from your first sip. The seating was typical of a Chinatown restaurant, and around 5 p.m., people started to roll in for dinner, too. I enjoyed the food and service.

As mentioned, do be patient as there was only one lady manning the front of the house. From greeting and seating (when possible) to waiting, bussing and making beverages, she does it all though not necessarily on demand, considering there were about eight tables that she was managing before I seated myself. I will come back and, if you aren't patient, you should probably come during non-peak hours to avoid the wait. I am looking forward to trying some of their breakfast menu items. After some shopping, our friend wanted us to try his favorite Chinatown restaurant for lunch. Arriving just before noon on a Friday, the restaurant was quite full, but the hostess/waitress directed us to a table on the right wall. The menu is extensive rice plates, fried rice and noodle dishes, clay pots, soups, specialty items, porridge and Hong Kong style dishes. We decided to order our favorited dish and eat family style. Tomato beef pan fried noodles - friend's go-to dish here, which he claims makes it the best. It's not my favorite dish, but I liked than the noodles were not overly crispy. Beef was tender. Salt and pepper pork chops - pork chops were meaty and flavorings was tasty. Scrambled eggs and prawns chow fun - Came with six prawns in a scramble eggs sauce over a good amount of fun noodles. The sole waitress takes care of the entire dining room from seating, order taking, bringing dishes out and billing for a fairly good sized dining room, which was amazing. We did have to flag her down for our bill and a take-out box since she was so busy. Good food with extensive selection of items. A new place that I will consider coming back.

My boyfriend chose this spot because he saw that they were selling boba drinks. It turns out their boba drinks were different here. I never tried those flavors before. We had a late lunch. My boyfriend ordered the diced beef tenderloin in black pepper sauce. He said his meal was really good. I ordered the wonton noodle soup. The broth of the soup was tasty and delicious. It was one of the best I've tasted. Overall, we enjoyed what we ordered. The place was nice and clean and service was quick. As for the bathroom, we didn't expect to see the garbage bins to be there.

Prices went up from what you see at the windows. Still waiting for the food but here are the current menus.

My recent dining preferences brought me to several restaurants that are by no means new. Satisfying my cravings for old time food led me here for a midweek lunch around noon. I was surprised how busy it was with most tables occupied. I sat myself at a back wall table after confirming with the sole greeter and waitress. After studying the menu again after looking at other Yelp reviews and photos, I ordered the baked ox tail w/spaghetti (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=Lh_6eBt6nVAngbbAbd7aHw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); my eyes lit up in seeing this as did my taste buds in taking my 1st bite. The star is the sauce which has that old time feel, pairing well with the noodles and meat. Don't expect large ox tail pieces, a good thing here as the small ones are easier to eat with the spaghetti. This picture (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=o1TyDA-P61uTYdrp3SM7JA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) tells you how I felt about this meal... burp. Seeing a gal at a neighboring table having one, a lemon tea, cold (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=MzOV_zTem4KFr9yezJELrA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) was a must for me. I liked that there were plenty of lemon slices. As mentioned, do be patient as there was only one lady manning the front of the house. From greeting and seating (when possible) to waiting, bussing and making beverages, she does it all though not necessarily on demand, considering there were about eight tables that she was managing before I seated myself. Great location. I ordered the baked pork chop rice and the snow red bean ice and both were decent. Service was good.

A restaurant my mom and I have been going to for years and hadn't checked out in a while. We went for dinner on a Saturday around 5 pm and the restaurant was spacious with lots of seating. We liked that they had a lot of options on their menu for any dishes you might be wanting and I had been wanting a Hong Kong style spaghetti but a baked version this time. Baked Meat Sauce Spaghetti - It took longer for it to come out since they had to bake it but it was perfect. The dish came out steaming hot and the spaghetti was thick. It was sweet and had all the classic meat flavors from the sauce. The portion was huge and filling too. Our total came to 20 dollars for our two dishes and we still had so much leftovers. Such a good deal for dinner!

One of the few cha chan tangs in SF. Baked pork chop rice is my go to. It's good, not great here. The price is good (~$12 total before tip) though. I also remember there being more pork chop pre-Covid. I'm not saying don't come here for this dish but my preference is for VIP on Broadway.

Now let's talk about the food!! For dinner, we ordered the honey walnut chicken, broccoli beef, 606 house fried rice, and the pork dumplings. The walnut chicken came with halved walnuts and had a nice honey glaze to it that made it sweet but not overly sweet. For the broccoli beef, the broccoli was nicely cooked and the meat was very tender. We really enjoyed the 606 house fried rice. It wasn't overly fried like most places and felt fresh. The mixture of proteins was also tasteful. Now for the pork dumplings, the presentation was nice and also tasted great with nice hints of shrimp. We noticed the place became very busy but the service was still attentive. I recommend getting a reservation for larger parties or if you visit during peak hours. We aren't local or else this would be a regular place for us.

"Everything!" That's all one needs to say. At the entrance, clearly marked are signs reading, "Reservations" and "Walk-ins". Since we had reservations, we waited only a few minutes to get seated at the bar. The bar makes it easy to converse with your partner and to peer over as the fire from the range springs up from the kitchen. Our server brought us some "Free Bites" of roasted peanuts and smashed cucumbers. She was such a pleasant lady with quite the wit that made me laugh between courses. We ordered a full bottle of Negori sake. Note: if you do not finish the sake bottle, they cannot pack it to go for you, so drink up! Obviously, we couldn't order everything on the menu. For our first visit, we definitely wanted their special dish, Fried Squab. It was delicious! The meat was moist and the dipping salt with Sichuan peppercorn paired perfectly! Just don't focus too much on the visual... the head and claws. Hot Mustard Jellyfish Salad ~ I loved the "crunch" of the jellyfish and the hot mustard marinade was just spicy enough to start a slow burn up the nose. Beef Chow Fun Noodles ~ Delicious and so very savory. I was amazed at how flavorful this dish was without being salty. Clay Pot Rice w/Chinese Sausage & Bacon ~ Loved how the entire pot was seasoned nicely. The sauce did not only sit at the top, but penetrated deep down into the rice. XO Escargot w/Milkbread ~ I've only had French Escargot and these are just as good, if not better! Fish Fragrant Eggplant ~ Another savory and very umami dish. Red Bean Shaved Ice ~ Always a refreshing dessert. Dig in for the surprise in the center. We had such a nice, cozy dinner here. Even while at the bar, we never felt for lack of space. They paced the dishes out perfectly, so there was always room to eat and enjoy. Looking forward to returning and trying more items on the menu.

The servers were quick to seat us, give us water and take our orders using their tablets. We ordered the pan fried dumplings and the scallion pancakes. Everything was delicious! The dumplings had a good amount of filling and were hot and fresh. The scallion pancakes had plenty of scallions which I appreciated. I mean it wouldn't be scallion pancakes without the ample amount of scallions, right?! Lots of customers were having breakfast and I noticed many people ordered congee, so it must be one of their best sellers. Our bellies were satisfied and we were out of there in under 30 minutes. The duck was chopped, served bone-on, so fingers were necessary to pull apart the meat. Likewise, the lobster was served in pieces and I believe was meant to be cracked although the claw meat was terribly difficult, dare I say painful. to reach. If able we'd have taken the lobster home and properly broken out all the meat. Instead, we left much of the lobster on the plate. Still, a fun place. We enjoyed our meal.

Service was okay, could've been better, but there was only one lady working the register and filling orders and you could definitely tell she was exhausted. There was also a line out the door, so one person handling ordering and filling the orders all day sounds exhausting. The food was good though! No seating, order, pay, and leave. Today we visited Good Ming Kok Bakery. The shop is small and crowded with cookware and patrons. The order board is on the wall with corresponding numbers to make it go quicker. It's a walk in, order and walk out establishment. Be prepared...there is a line. The ladies working are not personable and act as if they are doing us a favor. Very stern faced. (Service 1/5) The buns (5/5) were very tasty, light and full of meat. Definitely will keep this one on our radar when the kids come for a visit.
