Lychee jasmine iced tea with coconut jelly
    Mary T.

I learned about both Cafe Mozaiko locations through two different Yelp experiences. This Markham location was the first one that I had visited two summers ago. I loved the aburi (torched) sushi from this experience. I didn't return to this location until recently. It's mainly because the hours at its Richmond Hill location worked better for me than this one. Last Saturday, I noticed that Uber Eats had a BOGO deal on a number of items. It was the perfect opportunity to revisit this eatery in Cathedraltown and take advantage of these deals. I got the following items: - Aburi salmon ochi sushi (three pieces x 2) - Aburi shrimp ochi sushi (three pieces each x 2) - Lychee jasmine iced tea I was maybe twenty minutes away from this eatery. My order was ready halfway through my drive over here. It was pleasant at around 6 pm. It's free street parking. I had no problem finding a free spot steps away from the main entrance. It felt great walking through the door to head inside this eatery again. The tables and chairs for dining were still there. Friendly staff behind the prep area said hi. I liked the welcome. I indicated that I had an Uber Eats order. It was indeed ready. I got my drink and food handed to me. The nice woman said that I could grab a colourful straw for my tea. Naturally, I got a purple one. I thanked everyone and happily left with my dinner. I then had a smooth ride home. After I had put away all my groceries, I had dinner. I started with my tea. The lychee jasmine iced tea was yummy. It was slightly sweet. I enjoyed the flavourful jasmine tea. The lychee was subtle, but it took off a bit of the jasmine tea edge. It was my first time having it. I'd get it again. The aburi sushi was amazing, as usual. The aburi salmon ochi sushi was delicious. Each bite melted in my mouth. Torched sushi is always excellent here. The same goes with the shrimp version. The shrimp was torched nicely and was cooked perfectly. Not rubbery. It tasted fresh. This location recently added tofu pockets to its menu. A few months ago, you could only get them only at the Richmond Hill location. It's nice that they feature the same items at both locations now. It was wonderful returning to this location. The sushi is awesome here. I hope to return for more soon. (50)

I attended a Yelp Elite event at this restaurant a couple years ago and have been a regular customer since! They have many excellent options to choose from and I am on their mailing list and regularly receive discount codes that I can use to order online. I normally order something from the lunch special and would highly recommend the Aburi Kabayaki ($15.00)! It contains 6 pieces of Aburi Salmon Oshi and 6 pieces of Aburi Shrimp Oshi. It is made fresh so it takes about 20 minutes for the order to be ready. I would definitely recommend signing up to be on their mailing list and collect points if you're a frequent customer!

I have been coming to Cafe Mozaiko numerous of time since they opened in this quiet neighborhood for both dine in and take out. Every single visit had always been 5 star. The decor here is cute with anime theme. Though there are not too many seats available for dine in but their food orders always packed in a to go format. I like to pre order and paid for my food at their website. My orders always ready when promised. I love to order their cooked Salmon Bento and their Aburi Sushi. Their Houjicha Milk Tea so good. Specials available all the time, check their ordering platform and socials.

Absolutely love this spot! So delicious! The restaurant is along the shops at Markham Cathedral town, parking is on the sides of the streets. Was quite busy when I got there, so I had to drive up and down the street a few times before finding a spot. Going into the restaurant you know the owner love all things anime! There's anime posters and figurines everywhere in the shop which is a cute touch. This spot is more of a take out style/ order at the counter and seat yourself. Owner is super nice and friendly. Ordered the Aburi Quartet to get a taste of all the flavours of aburi (torched) sushi. It came with 4 different flavours of torched sushi which was such a great sampler. All the pieces were nice and fatty, saucey and so delicious to eat in one bite. Don't underestimate the size of this, as it kept me super full for a long time. I've also got this as a takeout party tray platter before with all their flavours of aburi sushi for the holidays and it was definitely a huge hit! A crowd favourite for sure. Definitely consider this option for parties/ gatherings. Writing this review has got me droooling! Can't wait to come back for more!

This is a cute little cafe featuring pressed sushi and drinks. Inside deco is very bright with a wall of Japanese cartoon. Service is fast, they are focusing on take outs, so you meed to pay at the counter. Ordered their 42 pieces pressed sushi platter at $60, good quality and variety . Also ordered two drinks milk tea is mild, iced jasmine tea with lychee topping. Not too sweet, I like it. They also have fruit smoothies but are not real fruits but flavoured, so didn't order them.

I don't know how I feel about this sushi place. The door to the storage room is through the toilets.

Good take out experience from Cafe Mozaiko. I always wanted to try out this restaurant and it's just minutes away from my home but never got the chance to. I ordered the grilled salmon and aburi sushi combo. I got there at the suggested pick up time and the food was ready to be picked up. I didn't need to wait and the food was fresh and hot. I added the Royal milk tea for $2.5 as it doesn't come with a drink. Overall, the aburi sushi is good and salmon tasted fresh. The only thing is the rice that comes with the grilled salmon was a little harder than my liking but overall I think the price is $15 is reasonable and good experience overall.

Saw some amazing reviews and pictures, so i decided to stop by and try some torch sushi Its a relatively small store (3-4 tables), was planning to dine-in, but with only 3-4 tables, we ended up getting takeout instead. I ordered the Aburi Salmon Duo since im a salmon Addict the order is made fresh in front of my eye, which was pretty cool. FYI: if your looking for fancy sushi skills. This is not the place for you. I think its more like a small family business. Taste wise: 4/5. It taste not bad, i prefer the one with the black fish eggs on top. The other one just has mayo on it which some people may think its too heavy after the 3/4 piece. - and its on the pricey end for sushi. 12 pieces for $21 seems a bit $$. Overall i would rate it a 4. Food wasn't bad, I just thought it would be more authentic (not asking fancy chef, but seeing the sushi made from those sushi mold kinda killed the vibe?) the torch action was 10/10 tho I loved their Demon Slayer Theme drinks and menu pictures, super cute!

It's all about Japanese comics/animation and aubri sushi. Aubri sushi means seared sushi so all of our sushi are seared. Although most people choose takeaway, there are four tables for those who prefer to stay. There's a tv that plays Japanese animation, and it happened to be One Piece on the day we visited. We ordered Stohess District and Spy Family. The portion is huge and generous. Look at the tofu pocket! Stohess District is all about salmon with mayo and teriyaki sauce drizzled on top; seared salmon and tofu pocket filled with sushi rice and salmon. I guess it's great for salmon lovers. Spy Family (holiday edition) is $10 more than the original version, which I guess the difference is there's more salmon in the holiday one. It comes in three flavours: wasabi (green), sweet (with cooked shrimp), teriyaki (with black flying fish roe). I personally love how they decorate the wall with lots of posters!! Japanese comics lovers' heaven! I must say their service is probably the sweetest and most caring I've received in GTA so far. Big shout-out! I hope their owner is proud of their staff.

We were just taking a stroll around our neighbourhood and discovered this new cafe that just opened about 2 weeks ago. This area is known as Cathedral Town which has been developed with beautiful homes surrounding The Cathedral of Transfiguration. And within this residential area, there is a small street named Cathedral High Street that has about 30 shops such as hair salons and beauty care stores. If you were driving in the area, you would have never noticed these shops. It's quite hidden, so I'm sure these stores rely heavily on getting business from the residents living in the area. We were only planning on trying their drinks as it was a perfect resting point half way through our walk. We got one of their specialty drinks - Genmaicha Milk Tea (Japanese Roasted brown rice) and it was so refreshing and tasty. After seeing their food menu, we decided to stay for lunch. We were so pleasantly surprised that this simple cafe had a really good selection of Japanese fusion food. We got the Okonomiyaki and Torch Spicy Salmon bowl. Both dishes were delicious. I'll definitely be planning more walks to this area now. I get both good food and good exercise!

The service was really good greeting when we stepped in even got a free mochi with food purchase we ordered the takoyaki, stranger don, aburi sushi gold, the stranger don was really good, beef was tender rice was seasoned perfectly and the egg complements the whole dish, the takoyaki was very soft inside melts in your mouth, and the sushi was really good fish was cooked perfectly just the salmon which was separate was a bit dry I probably won't come back here considering there are so many sushi places best one is still ikon sushi bar but I'll give this place a good effort, the ambiance was nice typically what would you see in a take out sushi place ikon was more nicely set up, the portion size here is fairly decent as well

Pretty good Aburi experience at the Markham location, keeping in mind I was just here for the food (and didn't know enough to appreciate the anime references) note that I was told there's a cash discount but only on the 42piece platter which I didn't get so not sure how much the discount is My favorite were the tofu pockets, definitely interested in trying the Wall Sina next time. Just a bit bummed that there are more choices at the Richmond Hill location, will have to check that out next time.

Ordered takeout from Cafe Mozaiko - they have an anime theme for their sushi platters and I thought that's pretty cute! We ordered the "Wall Rose" platter (reference to Attack on Titans). We enjoyed the spicy flavours a lot! My favourite item was the scallop + fish roe salmon sushi. Service was great too, staff were really nice :)

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

That's because every other guest was a well-known "regular" -- a very good sign. We were ushered through the tranquil restaurant and seated at the sushi bar, a zen ambience. We chose the $55 sushi+sashimi omakase lunch course, and it didn't disappoint. The eight pieces of nigiri featured a somewhat typical selection of fish (and hotate/scallop), but slightly edgy and unique in the choice of seasoning and flavours, prepared by Chef Takinami with all the pomp and ceremony and you would expect from fine omakase. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed from piece to piece; the wait staff were attentive as would be expected from a high-end Japanese restaurant, on par with omakases that cost three times as much. Overall, incredible value on the meal, for both the food and experience. We couldn't help but look around at what the regulars were enjoying (in addition to their omakase nigiri) -- botan ebi nigiri with deep fried shrimp heads, chawanmushi, cooked dishes featuring monk fish livers, tempura appetizers and more... some great ideas for our next visit!

Enter either you own info if paying separately or the same info if one person pays all of it. Lots of new dishes as well as old favourites: Chochin: Tried it. Not a fan. Tastes exactly the way I thought it would. Which is internal organ like but in an unpleasant creamy way. Duck liver raspberry toast: Nice but could be bigger. The raspberry brought an expected nice sweetness to the nice liver taste. A little more raspberry would be nice. Tuskune and egg yolk dip: It's ok but not that big a deal. Cheese momo: Fantastic. The swiss cheese is an excellent pairing to the chicken. Skin-Kawa - Delciious. Crispy. Must have, Hiza (knee cartidlidge): nice and crunchy Beef short rubs boneless: Was enticed due to the tendon part. It was nice but not incredible. Beef tenderloin + Chimichurri: Wife's favourite. We always order several of these. P-toro: Another must repeat. Great pork belly taste. Cherry tomato bacon maki: New and delightful. Bacon wrapped cherry tomatoes provide a delightful burst of tomatoey sweetness wrapped with the unctuousness of bacon. Lamb rib chop: Excellent and tasty. Once again everything was cooked perfectly and the amazing binchotan smoke made everything delicious. Fun fact, they put charcoal in the free water carafes as well.

Good food that hurts your wallet…read more Japanese izakayas are few and few between in Markham - that's why I got excited to see Sumoki pop up! It's not on the main street of Unionville, but its presence on a side road matches the quaint nature of the restaurant. It's not the biggest inside, but it gives off a Japanese aesthetic with the wood trim throughout. We made reservations in advance to avoid long lines, if any (thankfully it wasn't packed the night we went). Orders are made via QR code, which seems to be the norm now. I like it since you don't have to waive down waiters in a low-dimmed izakaya. Their main offering seemed to be skewers. We ordered a bunch of them to try - notably, all of them had a nice smoky fragrance to them (maybe that's why it's called Sumoki). We especially enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Skin. Perfect crunch from the initial bite leading to a slight chew throughout. The seasoning was spot on as well. Other honourable mentions include extremely succulent Chicken Thigh meat, Gizzards and Beef Tongue. You could really taste the meat juices from each skewer since the chefs don't overpower it with seasoning. Other local skewer places tend to have the same seasoning across different cuts of meat, so Sumoki felt like a breath of fresh air amongst the growing market. Coincidentally, it's also the first place I've been to offer Giant Rooster Testicles. Now...don't be alarmed. It sounds exotic and might not be everyone's cup of tea, but this dish is extremely creamy. Give it a try if you have the courage! We came to celebrate my brother's birthday, but quickly realized our bill was racking up really quickly despite a small number of orders. Sumoki is definitely a place where you don't want to come on an empty stomach, since each order is 1 skewer (unlike other local restaurants). Other menu items, from what we saw of neighbouring tables, didn't fare much better in terms of portion sizes. We left quickly to avoid some serious financial damage for the 6 of us, but also quickly drove to another impromptu restaurant to get settle our hunger down. Sumoki definitely isn't cheap. I wouldn't recommend this to be a formal dinner - moreso if you wanted a light snack after dinner. But then again, with these prices, Sumoki tries to make itself bougie without delivering 100% satisfaction so maybe try at your own risk.

Miki Sushi feels like the kind of place you can casually stop by and settle into a simple, satisfying meal. Spicy Seafood Udon This is exactly what suits the weather right now. Loaded with shrimp, mussels, scallops, mushrooms, and other toppings, the broth has a Korean-style spicy kick that's both warming and comforting. Salmon Pressed Sushi Generously sauced and rich in flavor, each piece feels indulgent but easy to enjoy in one bite. BBQ Ika (Grilled Squid) Despite the chili on top, it's only mildly spicy.
