Magoya Don with seared salmon and chopped toro and tobiko onnrice $25, yum yum order it
    Vivian L.

We love the food, decoration and the service here, although the price is not cheap, each don is around $30, they have complimentary miso soup and recently they have more set meal on the menu, making the value higher. We ordered the set meal with salmon/avocdo and bara don with steamed egg (it is soooo yummy), must try. The eel don is really tasty too. The service is prompt and nothing to complain about. The environment is elegant and welcoming. We love to come back more often.

We came back to Hana Don recently and wasn't disappointed! We ordered their Sakura Set, which came with a special don, miso soup, roasted rice cakes and their daily dessert, we chose the cheesecake for this. We also ordered their prime rib katsu, creamy salmon roll and takayoki. I loved the donburi that came with the special set, the flavour profile of all the seafood was perfectly balanced. The rice cake was super chewy and the roasted salmon that accompanied it was delicious. The cheesecake was also great as it wasnt heavy and not too sweet. I always order takayoki when going to a Japanese resto and really liked the takayoki here. Finally, the prime rib katsu was done perfectly to our request. We always like dining at Hana Don as the space is nice and the servers are always very friendly. Would recommend for anyone who likes donburi!

Not all Japanese restaurants offer uni, but Hanadon does. I ordered the Hakaido dinner set that includes scallops, uni, and ikura - all my favourites. It comes with a bowl of soup. The seafood items were nice and fresh. But the bowl wasn't particularly large. For $45, I feel they could have offered more items.

This is the place where I will go when I'm craving for sashimi during work day! Lunch set was several dollars cheaper then the regular menu and everything is made freshly ! Nice staff and spacious seat :)

Large Premium Hana Don (with abalone)

Hana Don has 3 different locations in the GTA. The menus are very similar across all 3 locations. They serve a variety of dons (rice bowls) with fresh and premium ingredients, including uni (sea urchin), abalone, saltwater eel, octopus, Hokkaido sea scallops, to name a few. The signature and premium dons are certainly worth it - very fresh and great mix of ingredients. I love that they add little bits of cucumber and tamago in every don. Unatama Don (grilled freshwater eel and tamago on rice) is one of my favourite items here. House Salad comes in a pretty big portion, but it's mostly just iceberg lettuce (with a few slices of cucumber, cherry tomatoes, and avocado on top). All the donburis come with miso soup. Their miso soup is actually decent - has a little bit tofu and seaweed in it, unlike in many other Japanese / sushi restaurants where the miso soup is just broth.

Sushi pizza, it's made with a flat bread though if you're thinking it's rice based.

Service was quick and friendly. Food was good. They have dons starting from $18 up to $50+ depending on what you get. A good place for a meal. I suggest the dons over the katsu, the breading wasn't crispy, a bit soggy. This location doesn't serve ice cream like the fairview mall location.

I found my experience at Hana Don quite underwhelming. The rice and breading of the tonkatsu were way too soggy for my liking, and the set was pricey as well. I guess I might have ordered the wrong thing on the menu since Hana Don may specialize in seafood don...as the name suggests, but still. I'm not very motivated to come back

Hana Don...... rolls rolls rolls bowls rolls and MORE rolls..!!!! The rolls are the BEST here!!! Hana Don has several locations, but this one is nicer! The decor, ambiance and staff are great! They do have an extensive menu so look carefully on the menu. If you love sushi rolls, don't miss out on this place, everything is fresh. Get there early so it won't be as crowded and your rolls will get done quickly.

Last minute reservation on Christmas Day and while they were 80% full, seating was provided quickly. Service was quick and very attentive, 5+ stars for their attentiveness. The food was pretty good, though no "wow" factor here. Some thoughts: the wagyu gunkan sushi was really good but OMG so oily. The chutoro sushi had too much ligaments that ruined the otherwise very fresh taste. Chicken karrage is as good as they come - juicy and not overly oily. The gyoza was a meh, the wine tofu was bland though the sauce is very good - if it was cooked for another 5 minutes or the tofu was thinner the broth would have permeated into the tofu. The grilled sea bass was VERY good , highly recommend to anyone who likes grilled fish.

    Pork Katsu Set

Came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Learned they offer some amazing and well priced lunch specials and bento boxes on weekdays ( price range from $15 - $22). I got to try the Salmon bento box along with the pork tonkastu rice set. The bento box came with 6 pieces of California roll ( very fresh with soft rice) with two pieces of salmon teriyaki - salmon was perfectly cooked while I enjoyed the homemade teriyaki sauce. The pork katsu was hot and crispy yet still maintaining the softness of the pork meat. Overall, the restaurant had good Japanese decor with very quick and friendly service. I know they are also known for their donburi so will come back to try that next time!

    Build your own don

We went to Hana don for a celebration dinner. The dining room is on the small side but we'll laid out. We were greeted promptly and our very helpful sever went over the lobster spécial and other promotions that were happening. We opted to try out their dons first since it was our first time there. We each ordered different dons to try and ordered chawanmushi, tako wasa and à gold dragon roll to share. Food cane out relatively quickly and most of the dishes were good. My daughter didn't love her build your own don as she said her salmon tasted off. At a fist glance, the dons looked small but as we dug into our bowls, we were pretty surprised at how filling the bowls were. My husband and I both enjoyed our Nagoya don and the large premium hana don. The don was well prepared with fresh fish and Shari that was on a less vinegary side which I liked. We may come back to try other menu items if we're in the area.

    Philip L.

Good quality consistency, quick and nice service as always. Nice to try their deep-fried Teishoku assorted seafood set. But I still prefer their Donburi lunch combo more. Just my personal preference. Great to be back. Still recommended!

The carpaccio was fine, pleasant but fairly straightforward, but everything else we ordered was excellent The octopus was tender, and hearty, paired nicely with potatoes, hummus, some greens, and capers. It was well-balanced and satisfying without feeling heavy. The steak came out a perfect medium-rare and juicy. The nut topping on the fish added a really nice crunch, contrasting beautifully with the soft, tender flesh of the fish. And then there was the duck: the clear standout of the night. It was beautifully cooked and seasoned. The fat kept it incredibly juicy without feeling greasy. The charred cabbage on the side added a subtle smokiness that tied everything together perfectly. Every bite honestly made me happier and happier. Getting to the restaurant was a little confusing at first, but once you're there, it's absolutely worth it. A really enjoyable meal overall, and especially memorable for that duck dish. Definitely a place I'd return to.

Despite seated near the door, it was well insulated and I never felt cold. The seating is still bar-like, with metal chairs over something more comfortable. The menu offers both HK-style cafe dishes and western seafood-oriented dishes. Staff appears to understand limited Chinese, and they double checked what our group ordered for drinks. I decided to go for the baked seafood spaghetti with cold Dutch tea (both hot and cold drinks are at the same price!). The presentation was a bit messy but flavourful. I wish the staff gave extra plate for me to place the empty oyster and clam shell rather than pushing them to the edge of my plate. The staff never gave us any water until we asked. The good thing is, they never rushed us to pay and our group chatted for a long time. Price wise, it was excellent. Service wise, could be improved.

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

We had a reservation for 6:15PM, but did have to wait a bit while our table was being set up. Not a huge deal though as they actually have a little waiting area with a popcorn machine, which I thought was super cute and thoughtful. That said... we were here for seafood, so we had to hold ourselves back from snacking too much on popcorn LOL. We went on a Thursday, so we took advantage of their $50 for 50 oysters (with purchase of an entrée). Easily the best part of the experience from a value standpoint. While a good portion of the oysters were fresh, there were definitely a few that were noticeably off. Not just "less fresh," but the kind of bites that make you pause and immediately wanting to spit it out. It kind of takes away from the experience when you're second-guessing each one. We started with the ahi tuna tartare and individual cups of clam chowder. The tartare was decent, but lacked that extra punch or acidity to really make it stand out. The chowder, on the other hand, was surprisingly well done; generous clam pieces with that distinct briny, ocean flavour you only get from real seafood. It tasted authentic, not overly thick, and actually let the ingredients shine. For mains, I ordered the lobster mac & cheese, while my coworkers got the lobster & shrimp tagliatelle. The mac & cheese was creamy and cheesy, but leaned heavily toward pasta over lobster. I only found a few small pieces, mostly from the claw. It felt more like a standard mac & cheese with lobster added in after the fact rather than something cooked together cohesively. Not quite what I had in mind. I also tried a few bites of the tagliatelle; there was flavour there, but it needed salt to bring everything forward. As it stood, the flavours felt muted and a bit hidden. That said, shoutout to our server, Edward, who really helped elevate the experience. Super attentive, gave solid recommendations, and suggested a bottle of Oyster Bay Chardonnay to pair with the oysters, which ended up being a hit. Overall, this is a spot that's worth visiting for the specials alone, but the execution across dishes is a bit uneven. Good, not great, and I'd be more inclined to return strategically rather than for the full menu experience.

Their per plate cost is higher than some other Dim Sum restaurants, but each item's size makes it almost twice the amount of food. We were here as a party of three to enjoy their brunch. Their menu is very clear and self-explanatory, the plate size is priced and any special dishes have their offer right next to the item. Once you've filled it out, a staff member will review and enter the order and return your order form with a copy of the kitchen's order. As your items arrive, the server will check it off the list. Double check your list and/or call someone over if anything is taking too long. Everything we ordered seemed to have been freshly made to order so the first few dishes does take a bit of time, about 5-10 mins before the whole order was completed in about 30 mins. The atmosphere at Lobster Port is very bright and open, they have a decently high ceiling and good spacing between tables and have separate private dining rooms for private events/parties. The service and plating is very professional and upscale as well. The tea service comes in three pots, the hot water pot to refill the brewing pot, which you use to refill the serving pot, which itself is on a tea light to keep it warm. The tea is strong and refills are free as expected at a Chinese restaurant. They have a cash discount on the menu if you eat in early on M-F excluding holidays. Due to the portion size, start you order with around 2-3 dishes per person before adding on. We took some home as leftovers at 9 total dishes. We ordered... - the deep fried taro pork dumpling: the taro is very fresh and not oily - the steamed signature bbq pork rice noodle roll: the filling is very well balanced and fully stuffs the rice noodles and sticks very well to it, it is the best dish by far of all the Dim Sum I've tried - the lotus leaf sticky rice was very fragrant and stuffed with fillings - the pan fried turnip cake was super soft and fluffy - the siu mai was so large it looks like two in one - the har gow was massive and filled to the brim - the steamed spare ribs with taro: was pretty mid, it's good but nothing special - the crispy crusted baked sago pudding: was interesting, eat it right when it comes out to be fresh and hot, but can definitely pass on this, its basically like a hot rice pudding Overall, the food was very balanced, clean tasting, not oily, and under seasoned (in a good way). Their soy sauce is very light and fragrant and goes with everything well. Will definitely be coming back to try the buns and other steams items.
