Parking is a nightmare in the area but 2 hour parking spots are available - just not sure if we were supposed to pay for the 2 hours! Restaurant was 50% full Thursday at 7:30PM. Service was fine. I got the PB + OJ burger with hash. Burger 10/10 delicious. Was not sure peanut butter would be great but it was delicious. Hash was super dissapointing and friend's French fries were 10x better. Hash was well cooked but under seasoned and really boring. Friend got the Say Cheese, Mr Bean Burger in a lettuce wrap (no gluten-free buns available). She was disappointed no gluten-free buns but understood it would be costly and hard to keep gluten-free buns on hand all the time. They were generous with the lettuce - it looked like she got a whole salad with her meal! Lettuce looked very green and crisp. She also got the fries and they were soooo good. I don't know what the seasoning is but it's really tasty. She also got a kombucha which was super carbonated and served in a mason jar. Too full for dessert but there are gluten free desserts available! Overall very happy with the food and service here.

3 Braised Jackfruit taco - corn tortilla, cabbage, avocado chipotle aioli, pico de gallo (15.50$) I really enjoyed this meal. The different tangy sauces mixed with the savouriness of the jackfruit was amazing! Summer Donair - red and yellow peppers, onion, soy mutton, green cabbage, radish, mint cashew donair sauce ($16) It tasted mostly like vinegar and crunchy salad. It was alright The service and ambiance is really cute. I love the lights and this place is instaworthy

I didn't realize this till we got here but I've been a few times a while ago. Heads up for anyone wanting meat, this is a vegetarian restaurant with vegan options, so temper your expectations. But I digress. We went today because my wife was excited to tell me about a restaurant that her and her friend found the other day and thought it was a nice departure from the usual casual fast food we normally go for. She was craving the curry Bowl (I believe it's a Thai curry but I didn't read the description) after she got off work. So we went for a mid afternoon lunch, we went around 2 or so. It wasn't too busy but there were people in the restaurant. The atmosphere was that of a cafe where you can get coffee, teas, alcohol and everything in-between. The surprise here is that they also have a full menu of other things, appetizers, main courses and desserts. I wasn't terribly hungry and I had seen a plate of nachos that another table was enjoying as we walked in so my mind wandered to that. My wife ordered her curry bowl and we got a children's grilled cheese for our daughter. Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised by all of the food. First the children's grilled cheese was a regular sized grilled cheese sandwich enough for an adult's lunch. The bread was crispy, cheese pull was good, it was as close to a perfect grilled cheese as one could expect. It can be ordered in regular cheddar or vegan friendly cheese. The nachos were just the right size to fill me up as I wasn't hungry. The "sour cream" dip (not sure if it was regular sour cream or something else) was flavoured and dare I say the star of the dish. It was a bean forward but it wasn't too much. I enjoyed it very much and as someone who is used to getting beef nachos, this was as tasty as you'd expect nachos to be. I had a bite of my wife's curry bowl and I could instantly see why she was craving it. It wasn't too spicy (she prefers not as spicy), and it reminded me exactly of a Thai curry (which is why I speculate that it is a Thai curry). Lots of coconut notes, but no complaints from me. Staff were pleasant, food came fast, it was tasty and it had a great atmosphere. At the end of the day I'd come back here, we spent around $60 after tip with no drinks purchased.

I got take out from Cafe Mosaics by ordering online and selecting the time I would come for pick up. The restaurant called me as I was a couple minutes late but told him I was just parking and would be there soon. He then told me he would steep my tea now so it's freshly brewed and still hot when I arrive. I ordered the XL Mosaic wings, unicorn burger with fries, and angel water tea. Everything was absolutely delicious!!! Love eating here and supporting local vegetarian / vegan friendly restaurant. My bill was just under $40 including tip. I highly recommend the XL Mosaic Wings which are super tasty and surprisingly filling. The dips it comes with are also vegan and delicious!!! It was my first time trying the Unicorn burger and wow was it tasty! The beet inside really gives an extra layer of flavour. Delicious!!

My first time at Cafe Mosaics was a few years ago. I saw their restaurant lit up from outside and was intrigued by the beautiful interior. I thought it was a new restaurant, because they had no signage that could be seen from the street. My first experience at Cafe Mosaics was to just stop by for a drink. Their drink menu really caught my eye, I wanted to try everything, from their tea lattes to their tonics and elixirs. I remember walking into the cafe and being confused as to where to go. Do I just grab a seat like at a coffee shop? Then order at the counter? Or is there table service. It wasn't very clear based on the layout of the cafe. We eventually figured out when a waitress came to take our order. I recently stopped by Cafe Mosaics again to have dinner with a friend. She's vegan and loves this restaurant so I was willing to give it another try. I was really excited to try their Against All Grain Benny for $16 and a tea latte. Our food came first, and shortly after our lattes arrived. I thought this was weird as drinks usually come first. All in all my food was only okay. The vegan hollandaise was cold, while my eggs and shredded mash were warm. Is the hollandaise supposed to be cold? It doesn't make any sense served on top of a warm dish. My friend also kept commenting on how small my food portion looked. In addition to the food being medicore. I was surprised to see that this restaurant didn't accept credit cards. I felt like I went back in time a few decades. I wish that I could give Cafe Mosaics a better review as Edmonton desperately needs more plant based restaurants. Sadly, this one just doesn't hit the mark for me. Oh yeah, and they still don't have a sign on their store front.

Great spot to eat, converse or chill. Coffees and teas. Cosy country feel. Casual decor. Friendly staff. Bright windows to catch the sun. Food is great but is vegetarian. Real eggs and cheese tho. Eggs Benny is filling.

I've been going here for years. Back when it was smaller and had more of a hippie feel. Now it's it's grown up and is yuppie. I was longing for huevos rancheros and nowhere in the city does it as well as mosaics. Actually not that many places in the city seem to offer it. But if you have any leads let me know. Along with the decor one of the things I've noticed is the staff is considerably more friendly. The service is great. We also enjoyed watching a cute basset hound puppy sit on the patio. The patio is a few tables outside. My partner had the unicorn burger and it was delicious. There was beats, pineapple, and a chickpea Patty. They were other ingredients in there but I couldn't quite catch them but they all made one delicious sandwich My partner had the unicorn burger and it was delicious. +.5 for service It's not everyday that I go into a vegetarian restaurant, but given the fact I was with two vegetarians for lunch, I gave them the power to choose a place that suits them. A google search for restaurants on Whyte Avenue brought up this place, so we decided to try it out for lunch. Everything in this place is locally sourced, grown, organic, and sustainably sourced, so you know you're getting excellent value for your food. I had the secret burrito cause the ingredients looked interesting, and I wanted to know what's so "secret" about it. The secret burrito came with the daily soup that closely resembled miso soup that day. I really liked the soup! I didn't had that much expectations in terms of the soup, but it was definitely comparable to the miso soups you get in Japanese restaurants. The secret burrito was also really delicious! The teriyaki sauce was not overpoweringly sweet, which I also liked. The burrito broke apart quite easily though, so I definitely suggest eating it with a fork and knife (as cheesy as it sounds). Service was very good as well, and I also liked the design of the restaurant...feels very down to earth. Definitely a place I'd recommend regardless of whether you're vegetarian or not.

I am really disappointed by how they are coping with COVID. First of all you have to download the menu on the phone. My phone wouldn't scan the barcode, and they didn't seem to have back up menus. Our server was short and unfriendly and not helpful at all. Luckily my friend arrived and she was able to download a much slimmer menu. Then, our "server" who actually didn't serve us anything, said we needed to go get our food and pay online. To pay online you need to open an account (?) and give out personal information. Neither of us was comfortable with that so the server rolled her eyes and said that if we insisted we could pay at the machine. And it was a tap. No idea why you would make your customers open an account to pay via phone when you have a tap machine. We asked for water which we got tiny glasses of with no refills. And after we got our food, there was no asking if we needed anything else, and we had to clean up our own dishes. I felt like I was paying for a friggin summer camp experience. We were both super disappointed. Why open your restaurant to the public when you have no intention of serving them. I have been to around 20 restaurants and I have never seen such mismanaged bad service and COVID protical. Both servers who really didn't do anything and looked like they hated being there. Both of us had the falafel bowl which was tasty but was completely ruined by the atmosphere. I haven't had such a bad experience in many years. I probably won't ever go back even when COVID is over. If you want a nice enjoyable experience stay clear of here.

I love this place!! One of my favourite places to go to in Edmonton . For vegetarian friends and all their dishes feels genuine and fun. It has that casual cozy vibe I enjoy too done in their own way. Staff is nice too. They have some fun drink blends as well with beetroot or tumeric :D One thing though, they don't take credit cards. Only debit or cash. I come here for their food and have always been too full to eat their desserts but I've heard good things about the dessert as well.

This place is always so busy when I walk by Whyte Ave and now I know why! It is such good food!! Honestly while eating their laughing monkey hot pot I thought to myself "Maybe I could become a vegetarian!" Anyone who knows me will say that it is impossible that I even thought about it haha It was a really flavourful bowl of satay soup with vegetables, vermicelli, kale and peanuts. Try it! I would go during the day if you can though, it is very busy in the evenings especially on weekends.

Against All Grains Benny (Gluten Free), could be made vegan by subbing the eggs for tofu.

Inventive menu, eclectic but well thought out. I really appreciate the creativity in their selection of certain ingredients that really punch up dishes that are otherwise old standards. A sprig of rosemary on a seared grapefruit half. Egg benny not only served on hash, but hash with a mix of potatoes and yams. Flax in YEG's most ubiquitous dish, the G.O.C.! Unexpected twists like that really add excitement to any meal. I especially enjoy that sort of thing in their all day breakfast items... if I just wanted regular eggs and hashbrowns, I could go to any old dinner. Vegetarian restaurant with many vegan and gluten free options that you won't find elsewhere. Great atmosphere here, the renos were a brilliant choice, it took the décor from mediocre to something imaginative to be admired. Though they are unapologetic about their music selections, it suits me fine because it's way better than elevator music... worse still, one fine dinning establishment I once brunched at played commercial radio and it was really off putting... so Mosaics staff, rock on with your bad selves!

Lovely bottle of water and jar to drink from on arrival

I had been to Cafe Mosaic in the summer time with friends and we shared a few light dishes. That was back when the sun was shining and the patio was the place to dine. This time I was solo and wanted heat and wifi. I came in all bundled up from the freezing cold and sat by the window to watch Whyte Ave bustling by. It was lovely and cosy inside. The decor is airy and bright and the vibes are relaxed and cool. It was no big deal to be alone, in fact there were quite a few people by themselves reading or working away so I felt quite comfortable. The waitress greeted me and brought me a bottle of chilled still water and a cool wee jar to drink from. I spent quite a bit of time perusing the menu. There is A LOT in there. It was so hard to choose. I ditched the lighter options my friends and I shared, as I needed hearty and hot. I was tempted by the broth but in the end couldn't resist the veggie burger. It came with a spinach salad that was sweet and flavourful, strawberries, blueberries and quinoa topped with a balsamic dressing. The burger was BIG. The patty itself seemed to be carrot and zucchini based and was very tasty on the bun, with a zing of mustard. I ate it all. Not even a leaf of spinach was left on my plate. It was the right amount of food. All the fresh ingredients, local produce and beautiful presentation that went into my meal, made it a wonderful late luncheon for one. I was carbed up and ready to face the cold again.

It is a lovely atmosphere to catch up with friends. Our server was polite and well mannered. They have a great lunch deal as well. I went with the Spicy Eggplant with coconut rice - Chinese eggplant quartered and stir-fried in a sweet and savory chili sauce. My friend chose this as well. We also started with the Roti Canai -Grilled Indonesian flatbread served with a curry dipping sauce. This is my favourite dish on the menu. I usually order this. Both dishes were excellent and fresh. I love the flakey roti and the dipping sauce has the right amount of curry in it. The eggplant was tasty as well and perfectly cooked. It came with rice (we chose coconut rice for an extra dollar) and a spring roll. The spring roll was crunchy and filled with veggies. All together a great meal.

The Curry Chicken was flavorful, creamy, and had a little kick from the spice but it was great. The Dendeng was great too, loved the sauce that covered it. They've been on quite a turbulent journey to say the least. Die Pie first opened their doors downtown on Jasper Ave in 2017. Then the pandemic hit and threw everything into question and they ended up moving to 97th in the Boyle Street area in 2020. Then, sadly, later in 2020 they announced that Die Pie would be closing it's doors for good. It seemed that everything had come to an unfortunate and heart breaking end. But there was some hope when the pizzas became available at their sister business Seitans in the 5th Street Food Hall in 2021. ...And then in 2023, rising from the ashes, Die Pie opened once again, this time on 105th Street in Queen Mary Park. Nothing short of a roller coaster, I'm not sure how they've done it. However, their legion of devoted fans certainly wants their plant-based pizza revolution to continue. VUE Weekly named Die Pie # 1 Pizza (Classic) 2018 and # 1 Best Pizza (Thin Crust) 2018. Yes, the pizza is meatless but this is a place that can compete with all of the rest. You need to try it for yourself to believe it! I was so pleased to visit for the first time on a Saturday evening and I would totally describe the restaurant and location as "industrial-chic." They've got plenty of space with a fun tropical vibe from the pink-sided bar area to the pink-and-green frond print on the chairs. The best decor item of all, without a question, is the huge original Jasper Ave restaurant sign that now hangs inside. What a testament to their resiliency. There's a little stage area that must be great for live music and other such performances. Speaking of music, the tunes at Die Pie are absolute perfection and I found myself dancing and singing in my seat for the majority of my visit - we must have very similar taste in music. Our server was helpful and friendly, happy to give us the time that we needed to make our way through the extensive menu. There's quite a lot more than just pizza! I'm not much of a pop-drinker but I do enjoy a soda with pizza from time to time. I really like that Die Pie doesn't serve the mainstream brands and instead opts for Jarritos (which I love), Wild Brewing Kombucha, and Phillips Soda Works from Victoria. We chose a Speed King Craft Cola ($5.00) and an Intergalactic Root Beer ($5.00), both from Phillips. The art on the can alone is worth it. I really like a craft cola made with cane sugar a lot. You've probably heard people talk about Mexican cola and how it's a far superior product - and the cane sugar is why. Using cane sugar makes the flavour so much better. Speed King is made with actual kola nut as well as cane sugar, has a rich flavour, and somehow isn't too sweet. The Intergalactic was interesting because it actually tasted like real root beer. The amber colour is not typically expected and the flavour of licorice root, cloves, and cane sugar creates a beverage that tastes much more authentic. They both paired wonderfully with the pizza. The food menu involves a lot! You'll find a whole host of starters, fried chickun (which I believe is Seitans main thing, now available at Die Pie), pasta, and burgers. And of course there is pizza. A lot of pizza. I was excited to start my meal with some Bites (there are four types) which I remember very well from my 5th Street Food Hall visits. This time I chose the Kimchi Bites (Sourdough bites stuffed with chedda, extra virgin olive oil, sunflower parmesan, and housemade kimchi - $16.00) because they sound so unique. However, the chedda, donair, and pickle versions are excellent options as well. These little tender and twirly dough balls are served with two dips of your choice and they've got twelve to select from! Gochujang Dip seemed like an obvious pick and we also got Garlic Aioli Dip for a more cooling option. If you love Die Pie's soft and fluffy pizza dough (and you do) this is just another way to get more of it. Pungent, acidic kimchi is wrapped within the dough like a soft blanket. These bites had some spicy kick! Dip them in the gochujang for an even bigger punch! These are fun and easy to eat. However, if you're also ordering pizza it does mean that your meal will contain a lot of dough (which is not necessarily a bad thing). The main event is absolutely the California style pizza and with 18 different pies you certainly won't be wanting for choice. Each one is made from scratch using their signature hand-tossed sourdough crust which they make with local flour. And let me tell you: IT'S THE CRUST. I'm the type of person who doesn't always eat my crust - in most cases I have no desire to eat additional plain, tough bread. But once in a while there's the odd case when the dough itself is something special. Die Pie makes a dough so pillowy that you will find it in your dreams. But that's not all. On Thursdays they do Detroit style pizza, they can make gluten-

If you find yourself visiting Edmonton, make a point to visit Whyte Avenue and walk up and down the strip checking out all of the store and most definitely, including The Buckingham in your visit.

Door cover was $4. I think it was a really neat reason to hit this place and Whyte Ave. Even though it was a Monday night this place was packed! And parking around was cheap and easy (because it was free after 9pm)! The All-Vegan All-the-time menu was a bit of a surprise but really cool. They also had local brewery Sea Change beer on tap.

One of the coolest things that I have noticed in recent years has been the evolution and expansion…read moreof plant-based restaurants in Edmonton. When you think about "vegetarian fare" this will inevitably conjure images of hippy restaurants that serve one type of food (a bowl of vegetables?). Maybe this was once the case but it certainly isn't anymore. (I think that Padmanadi had a large part to play in this development and that they paved the way for a wider selection of plant-based foods in our city.) Today, you can find restaurants from all cultures that specialize in plant-based cuisine and even pub food and pizza! I support this movement and love constantly being proven that animal products are not necessary to make delicious food. And this is coming from a staunch omnivore who clearly eats everything. Good food is just good food! One of the restaurants that has been making waves in this arena is An Chay, a Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant that has been around since 2017. Their name literally means eat vegetarian! Located in Oliver on Jasper Ave, they are in a prime location to feed bustling downtown folk a different take on Vietnamese cuisine. Avenue Magazine named them Best Plant-Based Restaurant 2020 and I couldn't wait to taste their take on some classic and familiar dishes. As previously mentioned, their location is quite excellent on a prime corner in the center of the city. Inside you'll find a fresh space that is filled with bright windows. I loved the pendant lighting adorning the ceiling that look a bit like lanterns. Some of the tables have very cozy chairs that beckon you to really settle in. I was seated at such a table and enjoyed the casual cafe vibe of it all. Our server was incredibly friendly, delivering plates of food to our table in hardly any time at all. For a beverage I went straight for the Burdock Tea ($2.00) which seemed like the most unique thing to order on the menu apart from the Vietnamese iced coffee. I enjoyed how different this was! This tea was not the typical green-jasmine situation that is normally found at Asian restaurants. I could see the pieces of burdock root steeping in the pot, an ingredient known for its antioxidant properties. The nice earthy flavour was something all its own and very pleasant to drink. The food menu is somewhat concise with only five appetizers and ten entrees to choose from. There is no need for more! I would much prefer that a restaurant does a smaller number of dishes really well, instead of offering way too many without being able to maintain quality. Spring rolls and fresh rolls make key appearances on the appetizer menu, as does a green onion cake (it's the Edmonton way). But I was most excited about the Green Papaya Salad (Green papaya, soy jerky, basil, sriracha sauce, roasted peanuts and fried onions. Served with house soy sauce - $14.00) otherwise known as Goi Du Du. I love a zesty green papaya salad that is full of spice! It would be easy to serve a green papaya salad as a plant-based dish - that's already what it is! But I really liked seeing that An Chay is taking this dish to the next level by using ingredients like soy jerky. I appreciated seeing that they are leaning into what it is that makes their food unique and special. This salad was so fresh and had excellent texture. We poured the house soy sauce over top to kick the flavours up even more. Sweet, savoury, and a hint of spice. I loved the soy jerky most of all because of the wonderful pork floss-like texture. Choosing an entree was easy because the dish that I wanted to try seemed so obvious. It had to be the Vermicelli Special (Vermicelli, tempura, shredded beancurd, spring rolls, shredded lettuce, cucumber, mint leaf, pickled daikon & carrots, red cabbage, roasted peanuts, fried onions. Served with vinaigrette sauce - $17.00) otherwise known as Bun 3 Mau. However, An Chay does offer their own take on pho and their coconut curry sounds wonderful. Plated with an artistic hand, the beauty of this dish with its stunning rainbow of colours was a sight to behold. You eat with your eyes first and this dish couldn't have been more appealing. I poured the tangy vinaigrette over the entire bowl and reveled in the symphony of flavours. I loved the pops of cool freshness from the mint, acidity from the daikon and carrots, and crunch from the peanuts and fried onions. I noticed a delightful coconut flavour that I think was mixed in with the shredded beancurd. One perplexing ingredient was the tempura. I think that "tempura" refers to the pan fried item that looked a bit like SPAM (only it wasn't). I'm not sure what this ingredient was but I loved it (if someone had told me that it was meat I would have believed them). I also absolutely adored the spring rolls (cha gio) because again An Chay took an item that I've had a million times but made it their own. Filled with bean thread noodles, fried beancurd, taro, yam, and mung bean; the ultra crispy exterior almost reminded me of a frie
