This was our second time here. The first time was for breakfast. As a Realtor in the McLean area, I'm always excited when a new restaurant comes in town. A lot disappoint, but so far, Café Monet has exceeded expectations! Definitely try this restaurant out. It's chic and modern yet feels like a cozy environment because of how the seating is arranged. The staff is also very helpful. Dawud is knowledgeable about the menu and didn't lead us astray!

I was there for several times I'm in my clinic residence from 1989 I have to say that the cost lady wonderful lady commuting from Maryland but the quality of the food it's a? Especially the hamburger with you charge me $25 for stocks and papers disaster it was like a taste of frozen potato with the bum and bread which was like you know so soaking the unnecessary dressing I asked to garnish with some greens but I didn't get beef steak tomatoes it was like a refrigerator cold tiny tomatoes anyway it was not worth the price it charged me $25 to stocks and tip glass of wine I thought was happy hours but was Saturday I forgot about $14 instead of eight and he gave me like two and a half ounces the waiter was very unprovision I think he was from Peru someplace he had the English communication problem because I asked him is this like $8 wine everything was way overpriced I feel like I was ripped off for the low quality food and low quality wine and two and a half ounces instead of at least three

Complementary appetizer - crisp with lemon ricotta whip and radish.

I had not seen this dear friend for over a year and so we met in the lobby and decided to just "stay in" and enjoy Entyse. From the moment the extremely gracious host seated us--after asking several questions about our preferences--to our departure four hours later, it was a really great evening. Narciso, who took care of us, was just fantastic--kind, funny, polite, and just the right amount of attentive. When we mentioned it was a little bit of a reunion for us, he immediately moved to make the evening special. Extra this and extra that started showing up at the table. The wine pours were so generous we joked we would have to stay for hours. A gorgeous dessert showed up out of the blue with Narciso smiling behind it. When we asked how long he had been with the Ritz and he told us at least two decades, we were not surprised, given his professional grace and ease. All told, it was a very memorable evening and it certainly will not be another year before we return. Thank you.

During dinner, there was live music which created a nice ambiance. I ordered the half roast chicken and chicken Bryani. The half roast chicken was disappointing. The breast was dry and flavorless. The bed of corn and beans reminds me of something you pull from the freezer. The chicken bryani could use more seasoning and spices. Dinner menu seems to be the same as the dinner menu from last year. Breakfast we ordered the chicken and waffles and also the lobster eggs Benedict. The chicken and waffle was cooked fresh. Chicken crispy and juicy. Waffle fluffy. The lobster Benedict was a let down. Eggs were cooked nicely but the lobster bits were mushy. Overall the room was nice and the food was hit or miss.

As for the service, there was always someone filling up our waters and our waiter was very nice checking in every now and then. The only downside of the experience is at the end when the waiter was boxing up all the food for us. Very sweet that they do this but when boxing up my partners food, they only boxed up the rice and they got rid of the lamb that he was looking forward to eating more of later. So that was kind of a disappointment for us. I think if we go again, we would request to box our food ourselves since I'm not sure why they decided to get rid of all of his lamb.

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.

I usually am enamored with speakeasies, but it was really hard to love this one…read more 1. Reservations - I've been with OpenTable and other restaurant online booking systems for decades but this is a first for me. They have two separate OpenTable listings (as noted in other reviews). I was clear in that i just wanted an after work chill happy hour. I booked for 4:30. After promptly showing up at the wren for my 4:30 appointment I was told, Naisho room doesn't open until 5 pm.... So why did you let me book for 4:30?!?! No explanation. No apology just "you're early..." 2. I promptly dropped $70 for drinks and an appetizer at the Wren bar to hold me and my guests over. It wasn't bad but that's not what I was hoping for... at 4:30. 3. The service to the speakeasy was great. The "gym stag" had our 4:30 and let us in at... 5:03 pm... 4. The waitress inside the speakeasy was super awkward and off putting. She really needs a class on etiquette. I ordered quite a bit right off the bat but my guests slow roll throughout the experience and she didn't seem too happy with that. Taking away our menus doesn't encourage us to order either. You charge $22 for one tea sandwhich but can't afford to print out more menus? The menus were also pretty dingy and I hand sanitized after using them. 5. Food. Was mid at best. Not at all authentic Japanese. I had the oyster shooter, temaki, Wagyu toast, Wagyu quesadilla, and mocktail. The oyster shooter was too sweet. And you could only taste the oyster and caviar at the end. Mostly as an aftertaste. There was a "too sweet" aspect to most of the food. The temaki was okay and I liked the crunchy bits but they went too far with the plastic wrap on the seaweed. The plastic wrap gave me Japanese 7-11 onigiri vibes. You do that if you aren't efficient enough to get the food out to guests at once and the seaweed will get soggy. I'm not sure if it was for a "fun factor" for people who are unfamiliar with grocery store onigiri in Asia but in a restaurant it should be done for you. The Wagyu toast was a HUGE disappointment. It was Sooooo sweet. I filet barely taste anything except the gross, sweet jam. And the toast was soggy and the texture of the bread felt prepared the day before and like refrigerator. It was not toasted at all. The star was the Wagyu quesadilla with beef tendon chips. It was the cheapest item on the menu and the most filling and delicious. 6. Drinks were very good. Expect about $20 a pop... $50 for the Japanese whiskey is highway robbery. Nothing really "rare." I have most bottles on the kitchen counter from the Virginia ABc or DC Costco. You can buy an entire bottle of the Japanese whiskey at Costco for the cost of one serving here. Overall, the Naisho room felt like all hype. For over $100 I was still pretty hungry. If the food tasted good I would have ordered more but I didn't think it was worth it. You get a nice view but it's the same from most of the capital one building. Same view from the brewery. Don't waste your money. Go elsewhere. Plenty of better happy hour spots for much much less considering if you stay for more than two hours you have to pay for parking (we did becuase, well, our reservation was at 4:30...)

Delicious Indian restaurant - great happy hour and brunch spot!…read more The happy hour from 4pm-7pm Monday-Fri is an amazing deal. I ordered 2 dishes and a cocktail for under $20! I requested for the Paneer Tikka Flatbread (not on the menu)- vegetarian version of the Chicken Paneer Tikka Flatbread. The naan pizza was delicious, it was stuffed with cubes of paneer with a side of Tikki Masala dipping sauce. Highly recommend it! You can get the Paneer Pizza next door too! The Paneer Tacos were filling and fun to try, but large chunky blocks of paneer. While I enjoyed the spicy mayo sauce, I wish the paneer was cut up into cubes. It just felt a bit heavy with the paneer. The Spinach Artichoke Fritters (4) were tasty. The Mango Mojito and the Mumbai Mule cocktail weren't that good, but it honestly it's hard to complain when it's only $6/drink. The unlimited weekend brunch at $38 is a great deal and well worth it! You can choose from over a dozen Indian fusion dishe - as a bonus mango lassi, chai, and soft drinks are included! You can order 2 dishes/person at a time and the servers hastily swing by to clear your plates and place your next order! Between the 3 of us, we ordered almost conquered the full brunch menu and had a delightful brunch feast! The food had a spicy kick, but not overpowering and wasn't greasy. The portions range from small, bite-size apps to full, large entree size. There's a lot of vegetarian dishes on the menu with a few non-veg as well. There's a good balance between traditional Indian dishes and Western fusion with a hint of American flavors/presentation. My favorite stand-outs: - Aam Chat Papri with crispy Papri pita like chips with mango, chick peas, and potatoes smothered in yogurt and chutney, and topped with spicy garam masala mix - Chana Bhatura with chick pea curry and fluffy, bubbly fried bread. Large portion. - Spinach and Artichoke Fritters - Crispy bite-size balls filled with creamy spinach artichoke dip, 4 come in an order and perfect for sharing! - Aloo Bravas - Crispy, diced potatoes very reminiscent of the Spanish Patatas Bravas with aioli sauce and mild masala spicy kick - Butter Chicken - My friend enjoyed it, solid full entree size. I didn't order or try it in, but it looked pretty tasty and could easily why she made a happy empty plate! - Nutella Bread Pakora - Tastes like a bites-size Nutella fried donut! So good we ordered another one! - Helluva Hallawa Trio - I enjoyed sampling the 3 types of Hallawa, ranging in savory (carrot) to more sweet and milky (my favorite). - Mango Lassi - The sweetness of the mango lassi helped to balance out and absorb the spiciness of the food. - Masala Chai - Great ending to a meal, perfectG caffeine pick me up! Paired well with the Nutella bread Pakora. The other dishes on the menu were fun to try, but would probably skip and save room for my faves: - Aloo Sabzi and Katchuri - The dense hollow shell katchuri (similar to a round empanada) made of dhal lentil smothered in Aloo potato curry sabzi was very filling and dense. After a couple of bites, I threw in the towel. - Egg Burgi and Paratha - The masala spicy scrambled egg on paratha flatbread was kind of bland and a very small portion. - Mango Mimosa - While the mimosas were only $4, it was quite tangy and didn't pair well with the meal. I wish fresh mango juice was used instead of mango flavored juice (tastes like Izzy). The lunch buffet (Mon - Fri 12pm - 2:30pm for $23 wasn't the best experience. Admittedly, I came to the buffet at 1:30pm and the food was tepid and sadly overcooked under the heat lamp. The plates were very small and it was hard to fit a bunch of food. I went to the buffet at least 3 or 4 times to try out the dishes in search of the perfect bite, which I sadly couldn't. There were 5 main standard dishes with 3 vegetarian dishes (Dal Makhani, Aloo Ghobi, and Mehti Paneer) and 2 non-veg featuring both chicken dishes (Butter Chicken and Chicken Curry) and a galore of fried fritters/pakoras (spinach, onion, potato) with a couple of new rotating stations with Pani Puri (not much going on) and Spinach Tikki and Fish Pakora fried fritters. The Mehti Paneer was quite greasy with a coat of grease at the top and the paneer was pretty stiff. It wasn't tender. The Dal Makhani was bland. The potato aloo potatoes were brittle as they were sitting under the heat lamp too long. The best part about the meal was the fluffy naan, which was made-to-order. I enjoyed 2 rounds! Order the Masala Dosa crispy! When we got it the 1st time on the lunch special, it was a bit rubbery and soggy. After the server asked us a few times whether we liked it, my hubby relented and told him the honest answer. The server got the dosa re-made to go extra crispy, which did the trick! The masala potatoes paired well with the dosa. I wasn't a fan of the Sambar. Based on the glowing brunch and happy hour experience, I would come back to try the lunch buffet with an early start right when it opens!

Modan: A Pleasant Modern Japanese Lunch…read more Tucked into a prime Tysons location, Modan makes a polished first impression with its sleek, modern décor and attentive service. Its $30 three-course prix fixe lunch is designed as an approachable introduction to the restaurant's modern Japanese cooking. Started with the Yellowtail Jalapeño and Salmon Carpaccio--both quite fine, with distinctly different textures and a clever Japanese sensibility. The Filet Mignon with truffle sauce was tender and nicely cooked, with a subtle ponzu-like Japanese accent. The truffle presence, however, was rather restrained--almost playing hide-and-seek on the plate. The added sashimi plate was above average: the fish was fresh and well handled, though not necessarily more distinctive than what one might find at other good Japanese restaurants. Dessert was equally pleasant: the mochi and gelato were both above average without being particularly revelatory. Overall, Modan delivers a polished, enjoyable lunch experience. I liked it--and would happily return to explore more of the menu.

There wasn't even enough information on what all was to be offered, nor what entree selection there would be. I reached out via social media to ask but never got a response. In a sense, you're going in blindly not knowing what to expect. I've never been here, so I figured, if it's good, I'll come back for dinner. The place is clean, modern, has clean bathroom which is always a plus. Negative is the parking situation, which is common in that area. The chair's were the most uncomfortable I've ever sat in. The back support is so low, when you lean back to feels like its going to snap your spine in half. I couldn't even lean back as a result. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth anywhere near the $95 price tag. I don't eat fried foods, which made up most of the starters. The rolls were underwhelming, the nigiri was decent but there was only 4 options, shrimp, salmon, tuna, yellow tail. How many of those can you keep eating before it gets boring. The oyster's were very good. The wagyu dumpling I didn't eat due to being fried but they super gimmicky. One of those instagram foods that looks good on camera but doesn't deliver. Those who did eat them said they were not good. I couldn't wrap my head around how small the main entree portions were. It was like 1 big bite or 2 small bites. The positive was they kept refreshing all the food keeping it fresh. End of the day, I walked out unsatisfied, feeling like I got ripped off. It is what it is, not good enough that I would come back.
