PLEASE!!! If you are BLACK AMERICAN, PLEASE do not go to this establishment!!!! I'm touring with my band. We saw the food online and thought it would be tasty. I know I'm black, maybe even intimidating, but I promise my approach entering foreign spaces, is curious and graceful. I'm a sucker for cuisine and experiences and we found neither here.
1st. The 2 people working wouldn't acknowledge me or speak directly to me. They took my order first, though reluctantly, but I didn't think nothing of them being cold, stand off-ish or just simply rude.
2nd. Once we all ordered, I ordered savory pancakes along with one of my bandmates. The exact same thing. (This is a trick I've learned traveling; order something someone you're with gets so you can compare.)
3rd. The food arrives, mind you the kitchen/bar area is less than 6 feet away. From the table. Everyone's food hits the table and the server says 'that's everything?' I didn't even have a share plate in front of me. Everyone had an entree and a side plate, and I had nothing.
**** also, never get the burger because the bun hard as stone!
4th. After walking around the counter to the 'cook' the gentlemen, turns to the cooking area as if he was upset to have to make something else. Completely turned off, I go to use the bathroom. I come back 10 minutes later and the food is there but it's a terrible excuse for a good meal.
Beyond disappointed, and the lack of effort to reconcile me as a customer was extremely lack luster. I refused to pay or consume anything. The waitress approaches again and asks 'you sure you don't want anything?' I say, 'no, I would like nothing from you or your partner since clearly you never intended to serve me.'
My experience in Prague has been amazing. Even this terrible experience hasn't changed my impression of the city. And I won't let one mediocre place ruin a beautiful historic city.
I think just being nicer could have prevented this.
