My family and I randomly stumbled upon this place on a weekend afternoon. I wish we had known about this place ahead of time, so we could have had a proper visit. Seating can be a bit tight, but we got a table on arrival. We ordered healthy hot drinks and sat down for a bit to warm up. The staff was friendly and came by a couple of times to check on us. Prices were standard with what we saw in busier areas. The atmosphere is very active and festive. They have a bar, which we were not able to take advantage of, but sounded and looked good. The bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. I would not hesitate to come back and try something new.

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this accidental find. It was FANTASTIC! We hopped in a line about 12 deep and growing. It turns out everyone was waiting for inside seats &, thanks to our Midwest winters, we were happy to take immediate seating outdoors. (They also offered blankets and hellfire heaters so even those who run cold could handle it, most likely) Service was delightful & the earthy, warm food & drinks were perfect for a cool overcast day.

Long wait for a table. Very popular. Food was good but not great. Interesting combination of flavors in their Avotoast. The raspberry lemonade had too much basil. The apple cider was good and light. There was seating inside and outside. Outside seating was very popular as the weather was great.

Wow!! This place is amazing, I could not recommend it enough. Has such a tasty cappuccino and their breakfast selection is perfection. The outdoor space is cute and the service is quick. Reasonably priced for brunch

    It's Benedict and Super Bowl!

Wow! The cutest place ever... In the heart of Prague. The ambience is fantastic, the food even better and the service was Primo! Highly recommend eggs benedict or the Super Bowl. Oh, and a fresh squeezed, orange juice or mimosa!

Bistro Monk in the Old Town is a great place to enjoy coffee and take a break from sightseeing. The avocado toast was excellent.

Located in the Old Town, Bistro Monk is a popular cafe with a tight dining room inside and an outdoor patio. Stopping in around 9:30 on a Saturday in July, we got the last table before a like formed to get in. The menu is diverse- granola, eggs Benedict, pancakes. I had the pancakes. They come beautifully decorated with a blueberry sauce over it. It's not too sweet and so good. The latte was creamy and well brewed! Service was good.

I am deeply sadden that I won't be able to have this again!! For starters, they don't take reservations so you'll have to come and wait in line. The smaller the party the faster you will be able to get seated BUT don't let the wait deter you because it truly is a great breakfast spot to come to. The service was amazing! I can't remember our servers name but she was very attentive and was nice to have a conversation and joke with. It is a small and tight inside but we didn't mind it at all and if anything you can always ask to be seated outside. The decor matches the name which we great! My friend and I each got a mimosa and they were large! So you won't be complaining about that lol. The coffee was just right. We had the Avocado Toast "Bali Style" and added salmon. This was perfect! Filling and flavorful. Do yourself a favor and come here!

Eggs Benedict and Buddha bowl (?) I believe. Also strawberry matcha.

I was slightly skeptical at first since the menu was so small, but the food was great. Everyone working was so kind. It was the cutest little cafe with art scattered. Loved it and would definitely return!

Came on a cold December day and luckily found an indoor seat (the last one). Cute atmosphere on the inside, with a variety of options both sweet and savory. We got some pancakes which had the most flavorful sauce on top and they were made perfectly. Usually I'm not a pancake person but these hit the spot! The bowl was also great! Healthy without trading any of the taste good bread too ~ Definitely recommended for breakfast in Prague!

Everything was on a more citrus side, took some bites to get used to. Did make it more refreshing though!

The hype is real. So good! I absolutely loved the MONK SUPERFOOD BOWL: Creamy Veggetable Hummus, mixed Salad, poached Farm Egg from Mr. Kral, pickled Vegetables, Feta Cheese, Quinoa, Cherry Tomatoes, Basil Oil, Orange Wedge, roasted Seeds, Cayenne Pepper, Toasted Bread and Avocado This is paired beautifully with a mimosa! Everything I ordered was beautifully presented. Best part of all - super healthy and delicious! Cheers to that!

Amongst a multitude of breakfast places is this joint, which is a bit more hipster and veggie friendly. Not that I'm one of those. They liked my NIN hoodie, so of course they're cool there. The fellow that greeted me was really friendly and gave a couple suggestions. I was happy with my avocado eggs Benny, though the avocado was the dominant flavor. That might be fine, but it detracted from the other elements in my opinion. Still, it was very good. The latte was a nice perk-me-up and I didn't even use sugar! The orange juice tastes very natural and fresh. Can recommend, especially to those from Brooklyn or Berkley.

The space itself is grand and beautiful, but the experience went downhill immediately. The hostess seemed to wield all the power in the room--no smile, barely any eye contact, just a curt and judgmental "no reservation." The restaurant was far from full. She then added, "I only have a side table for you," as if that were some sort of compromise. We accepted. At first glance, the waiters looked well presented, but with a bit more observation, the illusion faded. Some had sagging pants, untucked shirts, and most concerning, repeatedly inappropriate hand placement while on the floor. It happened more than once, which was uncomfortable and distracting (see photo). Overall, the place feels very pretentious without delivering on substance. The food wasn't anything special, and the desserts were average at best and certainly not worth the hype or the attitude. I wouldn't recommend Cafe Imperial to friends, especially if you're expecting a warm welcome or standout desserts.

That said, we had a gorgeous yet really disappointing pancake order here that just wasn't acceptable at all. The pancakes were thick, premade and tasted more like crumpets topped with fruit than pancakes, but what was inexcusable was that the pancakes themselves came out cold and hard. How does that even happen? On the other side of things, the expresso drinks were adequate, the egg dishes were enjoyable, the orange juice was fresh squeezed and the brown bread and butter that comes out (complementary) with breakfast is wonderful. If you do opt to come here, head to egg dishes, their bread and expresso, and away from their not good pancakes.) (Wish they would discontinue or replace the pancakes here. These hard, heavy, cold pancakes bring their morning meal average down a level, considering the other dishes here are a-okay.)

It turned out to be a good call. This was my first time in Prague so I wanted to try some of the local fare. The Confit Duck Leg with Old Bohemian potato dumplings and red cabbage caught my attention. My friend chose the Club Sandwich (grilled chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, ham, cheese, and boiled egg) with fries (extra). The nature of the duck dish meant it didn't have much colour, other than a little bit of red from the cabbage. It was still nicely presented and tasted very good, better than the overall colour implied. The meat was tender and came off the bone easily. All the flavours blended well together to make a nice dish. The club sandwich had more ingredients than I'm used to seeing in a classic club. Ham, cheese, and boiled egg? That's a whole other sandwich right there. It all added up to a hefty sandwich that tasted good. The fries, not included with the sandwich, were cooked very nicely and crisp. Both dishes were good but the cost of the sandwich and fries totaled a bit more than the duck and I think the duck was a much better dish. That's just my thought. We had breakfast here on the morning that we were leaving. The buffet had more choices than we could eat - hot, cold, pastries, fruits, beverages. There was something to suit every taste and it was all freshly prepared. The juices were watered down but everything else was good. We should have eaten here the day before also.
