Eh... ...Einstein hung out here, but the modern genius can use Yelp! to find a better restaurant. You know that feeling you get at a nice sit-down place when your order comes out too quickly? Had the beef with cream sauce, cranberry and dumplings, pretty unexciting. Dumplings were boring bread slices and meat was pretty minimal. This was the first restaurant in Prague where I felt like they wanted to rush me out. I've had great meals here, but unfortunately this one was a disappointment.
Came June 23rd, 2025 so it was HOT with no AC. I ordered the French Breakfast and was a big fan of the goose liver pâté with cranberries! My first time having a breakfast like this and I was not disappointed. The cheese with croissant and pâté were fantastic. Lots of history at this place as well My boyfriend ordered one of the combos (i forgot the name) but it came with avocado toast, yogurt with granola and some sort of fruit. Very filling breakfast. The OJ was fresh as well. Had to flag down our waitress a few times to get the bill to begin our day but other than that, everything else was great!
This is the perfect place for breakfast, but you have to get there earlier. We waited at opening time, and got seated at once. Environment is excellent and relaxing, along with coffee and food, a good place to let time pass by. The rich history of the cafe makes it even more interesting, starting from 1902, their famous guests include Karel Čapek, Albert Einstein, and Franz Kafka. We ordered FRENCH BREAKFAST, and I think it was one of the best breakfast that I ever had. The freshly squeezed orange juice was very fresh, my favorite part was the delicate homemade goose liver pâté with cranberries, I put them on the fresh croissant, it's so delicious and creamy that I can remember it for long time.
So this is a very old vintage restaurant in Prague. On our trip we had researched about best place to eat and finding good reviews we went there. And so glad we went, we came out with full tummies and also heart. Line was a bit long but fast moving. We got a table in ten mins and the person who helped us gave us fantastic recommendations as to what to eat. Once order was placed food was served soon and was so fresh and hot , exactly what we needed on a cold afternoon. Rates were not exorbitant and quality and portion was amazing. We would surely visit this place if we visit Prague again. They do have vegetarian options and amazing desserts.
Café Louvre was another recommendation from our VRBO host, but it was also on my list of places to try after reading about the history this place since opening in 1902. They do price themselves on "preserving the old café traditions." There is a very big French influence in the decor. This cafe's frequented by Franz Kafka, Albert Einstein and T. G. Masaryk back in the day. While we were still full from breakfast, it was a nice break after walking the Vysehrad and viewing the Tančící dům (or dancing houses). It was just after noon when we walked in and the place was crowded but the wait was just a few minutes for a table, and we were seated at the far end of the restaurant. We relaxed, read the history of the cafe AB's looked at the menu, ordering two 0.5l of Bernard 11° lager. It had been only a few hours since breakfast and while we got in about 2.5 miles of walking, we decided on the avokádove chelbíčky out avocado sandwiches and the twplý jablečný závin or warm apple strudel. In fact the entire menu looked great with the slow braised beef shank goulash and braised beef with cream sauce being top on my list. Recommended? Yes, very much so. Even when it was busy, it didn't feel as such. We were seated quickly, and our server was very attentive, providing recommendations. Great cafe to pop in for a meal or just an afternoon snack or drinks.
The waffle here was unforgettable . It was light, crisp, and full of flavor. I've been back home for weeks and I'm still thinking about it. The coffee didn't wow me but the place is gorgeous with old school charm and big airy rooms.
The restaurant is located on the third floor. You can go to the side with reservations or the side to seat yourself. There were plenty of tables available on a weekday dinner time. The restaurant is very clean and pretty. My favorite dish was the fried turkey chops! It included the potato salad which was super delicious! Slices of potato in the salad was very different than other potato salads I had before. The flavoring was tasty. The beef in the Goulash was more on the dry side for me. It was okay. Service was great! Very attentive staff!!

The restaurant was easy to find and walk into--located on the third floor, it's a convenient spot to grab a meal. The interior is very nice and classic. The order: * Oranzada * Náše lemonáda * Large beef goulash * Fried turkey chops with sesame bread crumbs The good: The food was reasonably priced, making it a solid choice for trying Czech cuisine without breaking the bank. The fried turkey chops were the highlight--crispy, well-seasoned, and enjoyable. The bad: The beef goulash was skippable--nothing particularly memorable about it. The drinks were pretty mid, nothing outstanding.
Ambiance was amazing, the building itself was very very pretty and the views were good. My omelette however was not satisfactory and really felt more of just a pile of poorly scrambled eggs. I have had a friend tell me she went here and it was great so I would have to say just order something different :) They also have a pet chameleon that was very adorable to admire.
We had a reservation so we were seated on the dining side of the restaurant which is a little nicer and intimate for couples. The food was pretty good. The Venison Ragout was cooked nicely and the Svičková was tasty. The service is not something I'm used to. They take your order and then don't really check on you very much so if you need something you have to flag your server down. Wasn't the most friendly or accommodating, but still professional.
very cool cafe with a rich history! i would definitely recommend learning about this place before you go. Its beautiful and unchanged inside! i had the espresso and the apple merengue pie, and both were pretty good. The staff were all friendly and helpful too! You should definitely go early- we went at 9 and didn't have much of a line, but it was crazy when we left and 10:30
Great service. Quaint atmosphere. Not too noisy. We lucked out and found a seat right away for a small late lunch + treats. We split the club sandwich and a piece of Louvre cheesecake. I also ordered a decadent cafe Louvre hot chocolate. Petite, rich, and fabulous to sip slowly while soaking in the cafe atmosphere. The club sandwich comes with sliced hard boiled egg, which I requested in the side. It's a substantial, triple decker sandwich- perfect for sharing. Tasted good, too! The cheesecake has thick slices of peaches baked inside. The texture of the cheesecake is lighter and less dense than I'm used to but it tasted wonderful. What a treat to dine here!
I really, really liked this cafe, famous for posting intellectuals like Franz Kafka and Albert Einstein. After you climb the stairs, you pass through the lobby and find your own seat. There are several rooms. Our server was just lovely so nice. We ordered breakfast, and everything was quite good. The coffee was so good, and I love the little pieces of soft cheese that came with breakfast. The apple cake was also delicious. This is a great spot, and I wish we had a hard time to go back for lunch or dinner. If you are coming to prague, this might be a place you want to put on your list. If nothing else you can say you ate where the intellectuals ate, and you can feel a little smarter. read more

Getting to the restaurant required climbing a few floors of steps, but the available desserts were worth the effort. Rather than look at the menu, I made my decision by viewing the desserts. For an unknown reason, rather than being placed upfront, the tiramisu was placed behind a box of pralines. I do not recall the last time I was served tiramisu in a dish. In between two layers of the mascarpone were the ladyfingers. The bitter cocoa complemented the overall sweetness. I was amused, and slightly caught off guard, with the vending machine in the men's restroom dispensing cologne. None of the other restaurants I visited in the city had one. read more
Café Louvre still carries all the old-world charm that makes Prague so special. We loved the pâté, traditional goulash with bread dumplings, & the incredible desserts~especially the sacher! It's a beautiful taste of Prague's cultural history. Highly recommend. read more

Ambiance was amazing, the building itself was very very pretty and the views were good. My omelette however was not satisfactory and really felt more of just a pile of poorly scrambled eggs. Cafe Lourve is located in the heart of Old Town at a unique location with rich history. Cafe Lourve has been in existence since 1902 being one of the oldest cafes in Europe. Even though the pace of the times has quickened, they still insist on preserving the old café traditions. The historic cafe retains its charm just as Franz Kafka, and Albert Einstein experienced during their visits. Upon my recent visit I tried Cafe Viennois or Espresso con Panna with a croissant. The croissant was very soft and literally melted in the mouth with every bite. This is the first time I tried Viennois and it was amazing! Viennois is an espresso topped with whipped cream instead of foam milk. The drink might indeed have come from Vienna but it could also be of German, Italian, or Turkish origin, since it's usually served in a Turkish-style demitasse cup and is known by so many names. The cafe did not have a lot of vegetarian/ vegan options so I cannot comment a lot on food as I just tried the croissant, but definitely try this place to experience an old rustic cafe charm and enjoy good coffee! read more

Inside a 1902 salon frequented by the elite, including Albert Einstein, Cafe Louvre is a step into the old world. Red curtains, old paintings, and pool tables decorate the inside in several grand dining halls. Stopping in on a Sunday in July around 9.30, we got a table right away. (By the time we left an hour later, there was a line!) We orders coffee, which comes on a silver tray with a small cup, pancakes with raspberry sauce and sweetened sour cream, breakfast goulash, and a ham and cheese croissant. The pancakes are delicious as is the goulash. Our six-year-old daughter didn't love the ham and cheese croissant since it was more of a sandwich with cucumbers than ham and cheese mixed inside the dough. Service wasn't awesome. Our server seemed annoyed at us for no reason. They did give our daughter a coloring page and crayons! read more

The food and drinks are to die for! This establishment was frequented by Albert Einstein, its such a traditional building with a lot of characteristic to it As many European cafes and restaurants they take their time getting your orders but it's not because it's a bad service it's just their culture compare to American food service I recommend going if you like cafes and history! read more

This is an amazing place for coffee and a dessert. We also ordered a chicken dish, don't remember the name and also forgot to click a picture. It was good though. Their pastries and desserts are delicious. It's an old restaurant and quite busy too. You might need to wait to be seated during the rush hour. If you are going alone or with a friend you might get lucky to sit right next to the window with the city view outside. It's was very pretty. You don't have to wait for your order even if it's crowded. It's a Must visit cafe if you are visiting Prague. read more

The ambiance of this place is so perfectly chill that it's hard to describe. The thought of spending an afternoon sitting here with a cup of coffee and a newspaper is very enticing. We just ce for dessert but we're not disappointed. The blueberry pie and hot chocolate were the headliners of our outing. But the chocolate cake was pretty stunning too. The black forest cake wasn't my favorite but the Mrs. loved it. read more

Of course we had to return and play billiards a few days later. What an experience just being in that room playing billiards where many people have played for many many years. You could feel the history all around and we had very attentive beer service. read more
Nice server which you won't get it mostly at any restaurant here in Czech but our Libor has an excellent customer service which you would rarely get at any restaurant in Czech My beef Goulash is amazing. I highly recommend this spot to any tourists like me read more

One of the best places to get authentic Czech food in Prague! The lunch specials are the best and they have a rotating menu every day. Such friendly staff and it also was Albert Einstein's favorite cafe. Especially for being in Old Town, it's not overpriced and not a tourist trap. If you want real amazing Czech food this is the place to go! I couldn't tell you how many times I went here for lunch while studying abroad. Truly a favorite! read more
Pretty cute spot with Czech food and other comfort food classics! Everything is plated prettily and matches the decor. I tried their braised beef with cream sauce and overall it was pretty good. Sauce was a bit sweet for me and the whipped cream only added to the sweetness, but it's not a huge dish so it didn't become overpowering. read more
Came for early dinner and this was the perfect spot. You really get the historical feel still when you sit there and enjoy your meal. We got beef soup with liver dumpling, goulash, and then sacher torte and apple cake with meringue with tea and coffee to round out our meal. read more

This place is really cool and definitely a tourist stop. But, we did find locals there to just read their papers and enjoy the ambience too. I loved the atmosphere and just the overall history of the place. The hot chocolate was good and the service was fantastic. read more

Wonderful I came at 8 AM. It was not crowded. I had the goulash. It was great. It came with a basket of bread. I had the fresh squeeze orange juice and got a free refill. I would highly recommend this place at Central to old town. read more
In a good area with a nice selection of food, drinks, desserts and pastries. It's in a nice building and comfortable. The price is reasonable for this atmosphere. Food is good but not spectacular. I would come again to have a relaxing tea time or meal and enjoy the ambience of tall ceilings and large windows. read more

Cafe Louvre is a historic cafe and restaurant serving a menu of Czech and international fare in a refined atmosphere. The Czech breakfast set came with freshly squeezed orange juice, slices of Prague ham, an assortment of cheeses (Eidam and Hermelin), a cream cheese spread, a soft-boiled egg, and a slice of Apple Gugelhupf cake. We also had the Breakfast Beef Goulash, a stew made of chunks of tender beef in a savory broth that paired nicely with the airy, salted bread rolls that came on the side. Everything here was delicious, beautifully presented, and came at a surprisingly good value especially given the atmosphere and the service. read more

We had a wonderful lunch and dessert at this Prague jewel. Despite a line, we were seated quickly. David M. Was our waiter and did a fantastic job explaining the days specials. Based on David's recommendation I got the pork belly in a dark, thick, and spicy sauce served with rice. My wife got pork shoulder in gravy served over mashed potatoes. Both items were excellent as was the Bernard's Czech Lager. For dessert my wife got a sampler plate with a pistachio cream puff, berry bizet, and chocolate cake. And a cappuccino. Everything was fresh and tasty. A super lunch at a fair price! Highly recommended! read more
