Definitely a must-visit again when I am in town. The staff was friendly, and our orders were out quickly. We ordered two soft serves. The soft serve was one of the best I had. Some of the best Katsu I have had. Combined with a variety of included small foods, Cafe Mixx's katsu plates are one of my favorite lunches. The pork or chicken are both very well prepared and the options for toppings are all very good. My personal favorite is their carbinara. Staff is friendly and the food is made fresh. The open seating area means you aren't waiting for a seat. The self serve soup is a often over looked perk so don't forget to try some. With large portions, you get a great bang for your buck here. More drinkable after the ice watered down the coffee. Also, there was too much cocoa powder topping the einspanner coffee; felt like I was drinking tiramisu instead of coffee. The ambiance of this place is absolutely adorable! It's a cute little cafe to bring your friends and family. However, the food fell short. I ordered the spicy chicken katsu and it wasn't spicy. I didn't get to try because the kitchen closes an hour before the store does so if you wander in at 9 when they close at 10 no food for you. But desserts are available!!! I've always wanted to come to Cafe Mixx. It's been on my foodie bucket list for a while now. I'm really happy that I got to try this place with my niece. The ribs were pure perfection. I also got the sausage rice cake skewer. It was sweet and spicy and everything I'd imagined. There is so much for you to try, you may not even know where to begin. A cute little place at a congested intersection. You might as well stop by and let traffic clear. :) I honestly don't peg Cafe Mixx as Korean when I first heard the name and drove past. It kind of gives off a Mediterranean vibe with the name. To my pleasant surprise, it's Korean. The interior was clean with pretty decor. It's a very causal spot where you order at the counter and just grab a seat anywhere. The food has a premium feel with the its appearance and presentation. Our group shared a few varieties: Einspanner: This Dutch coffee was interesting. It was sort of bitter prior to mixing. Each distinct layer had its unique flavor profile. I liked the top most as it was the tastiest with the sweet heavy cream. Rice cake + sausage skewer: It sadly only came with one lonesome skewer, but the flavors and textures were pretty good. The rice cake had a nice glaze coating and complimented the slightly salty sausage. --- Honey glazed croffle: This waffle/croissant was really good! It's rather a small portion, but oh so delicious to try. It had a slight texture of a waffle but a nice chewy interior of a croissant. A great combination! Matcha coffle: The 2nd place winner. Interestingly, this came with additional matcha cream on the side. It definitely tasted better for an enhanced flavor as the matcha powder was too bitter by itself. Choco croffle: This would be my last pick. It had a slight bitterness to it as I probably tasted the full force cocoa powder. I thought it I would have liked this, but I suppose it wasn't sweet enough or something. --- Honey butter cheese (pork) donkatsu: This was a sizable entree. There was a little rice ball, mini cabbage salad, and small miso (?) soup. They were serious with the cheese, and I loved it! The honey butter was interesting as I don't suppose it was the brown sauce atop? Hamburg steak: Probably made fresh order as our friend was told it was going to take a little bit. It was probably the original that she got, and she seemed to love it. She regretted not ordering it originally and saw another table get theirs so she went for it. Our friend pointed out how the restaurant is called Cafe Mixx, but there differing signs with Cafe Bora, Alchemist, First Floor that was confusing. However, I must say this...and I skipped this part last time. The service at the cash register is not the greatest. I remember it being kinda short and unfriendly on my first visit, and this time, it was a tad better...BUT I feel that they're a bit unflexible. I asked if they can sprinkle a bit of cheese on the Donkatsu order (which seems like a pretty easy task?), but no can do! I mean, I was willing to pay extra for cheese...but nope, the girl at the register seemed pretty stern about it. WOW. Also, they were basically out of all the best fruity flavors of teas. There were basically only 2-3 flavors to choose from! Now, here was another confusion. Last time I ordered tea, it was cold...and I expected that this time as well. Nope, the tea I ordered was hot. From their menu, I could not have known either way. I wish they could have mentioned this before I ordered it. Overall, I left this place again with mixed feelings. I love their unique menu...and some of their foods are great (Really liked their original Donkatsu, and absolutely LOVED their Matcha Tiramasu). I've found myself here twice now after dining in the area. It's actually a great spot to get a bite to eat (full meals and/or just coffee or dessert). There's wifi, so it's a good spot to hunker down to get some work done. My friend and I split an Einspanner and strawberry bingsoo on our last trip here. What's interesting about this cafe is that there are multiple concepts inside; there's the cafe with savory dishes, desserts from a cake shop (forgot the name), Cafe Bora's signature bingsoo and tiramisus, and The Alchemist coffees. The Einspanner was delicious; I've never ordered one before. It's Vietnamese coffee, so it's strong. Just make sure to mix the powder on top into the drink well and don't accidentally inhale it. I've had the Cafe Bora bingsoos before and they're a bit on the pricey side for the size, but they are delicious. Korean bingsoo ice is different, and I love the texture. Came here since we wanted to go to a place with food and desserts. FOOD: Honey Butter Cheese Donkatsu ($13.95) - This wasn't my dish but my friend seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Also comes with soup on the side. Crispy Wings (small) ($9.95) - First of all, the size of the wings were huge. The small portion comes with 6 pieces but were really filling for one person. Like the name says, it was very crispy, but with that it was also really oily. I would recommend eating it with the tteokbokki as it was hard to eat after the 3rd-4th piece. DESSERT: Persimmon Bingsu ($9) - The bingsu's are pretty small compared to the price. It comes with 4 sweet potato chips, a bowl of persimmon syrup/extract, and a bowl of condensed milk. The bingsu has a base layer of shaved milk ice with a topping of persimmon extract. I liked how it wasn't too sweet but they give you the option to make it sweeter if you want. Purple Sweet Potato Tiramisu ($3.95) - If you aren't used to the taste of purple sweet potatoes, they are subtly sweet but also starchy like regular potatoes. The tiramisu has a layer of cake, layer of sweet potato cream, and topped with the sweet potato powder. It's sweeter than normal sweet potatoes because of the cream and the cake layer was a bit dry. They make their own ice cream, and the quality is top-tier! All of their ice creams are soft serve, which I love. As for their food, I don't love their katsu curry, but their fried chicken (spicy) is good; it's just fried chicken. I would say all of their desserts and fried chicken are shareable. Maybe gen Z servers/waiters think it's cool not to not care but I'd rather not go to restaurants and have to feel like I'm bothering the workers by being there... with that being said, every interaction we had at the cashier felt like they wanted to be anywhere but there. Cafe Mixx is ube heaven, among other dessert and entree options. I went when they first open and have been desperately wanting to go back again since then. While the desserts are what initially caught my eye, I was drawn in by the pork donkatsu, and because everything always tastes better spicy, I ordered the spicy pork loin donkatsu. Additionally, we tried the purple sweet potato chips, a purple sweet potato latte, and of course DESSERT: purple sweet potato tiramisu, strawberry tiramisu, and the purple sweet potato soft serve ice cream. FOOD: Spicy pork loin donkatsu: the pork cutlet is perfectly crispy and the meat was tender. The sauce was seasoned well but OMG SO FREAKING SPICY. It was borderline unbearable... but also so addicting I couldn't stop. The pain was almost worth how tasty it was. It was a love hate relationship for sure, each bite I took. Purple Sweet Potato Chips: crispy and tasty, nice to munch on and easy to take to go for later. DESSERT: Tiramisu - both the strawberry and the purple sweet potato tiramisu are delicious insta-worthy, although I prefer the strawberry over the purple potato. Super light dessert that weren't overly sweet but creamy. Purple Sweet Potato Ice Cream - a pretty dessert, but a little overrated. It is definitely worth an order for a lighter dessert. GAHHH THE TIRAMISU!!! You must try it!!! I got the purple tiramisu and was shocked by how smooth and heavenly delicious it was!!! The bingsoo was not bad either but the yam paste was meh. I scraped it off and just ate the snow lol. The cafe is very spacious! We were here on a Friday at around 7pm and there were a lot of people.
