The place seems to peg itself as being Eastern European, and tends to draw that crowd, but their menu boasts Grecian style food. They serve paninis (Yum), crepes, Grecian salads, Souvlaki, Loukaniko, Greek yogurt and more. Nice seating, pool tables and a bar. I've had their paninis a few times and they make a mean over-priced smoothie. I've been here on a whim to meet some friends at night. It had a nice lounge-feel to it. Have yet to really see the nightlife scene yet, so I will update. read more

When you first walk into this place, you may say to yourself, "What a dump!" It's dark, and in the back there are pool tables and slot machines. However, the food is another matter. It's fantastic! The menu is limited, but great selections. The Grilled Octopus appetizer is wonderful. Don't get turned off by the atmosphere and the seedy looking crowd. read more

My friend and I were looking for a place where one could get some decent grub, booze it up, and lounge in an outdoor patio to bask in the sunshine's glow. Cafe Mistiko was the spot we chose due to proximity and it having all the elements that we were looking for. When we walked in we were presented with a very dark dining room. Granted it was noon and most of the customers were sitting outside, it was still a bit dreary to walk into and didn't exude any hospitality. My friend and i were both surprised that the menu was as extensive as it was and that most of the meals were under $10. I ordered a bloody mary and blackened tuna caesar wrap with a side of fries. My friend ordered a corona and chocolate banana crepes. The tuna wrap was sadly underwhelming. The menu promised blackened yellow fin tuna cooked medium rare, and when my wraps arrived, i noted that they were more medium well to well. It also lacked any hint of that lovely bright red color which made me question the freshness of the fish. The tuna looked kinda of opaque and more questionable than anything. The fries were well seasoned and crisp. My bloody mary was good but i should have ordered it spicy because the mix was a bit bland. My friend's crepes, presentation wise, looked stellar. The crepes were also very delicious, i mean how can one mess up anything with chocolate and bananas? On the down side, the crepe itself was hard in some areas and looked more like a large tortilla rather than something that was freshly made from a batter. This was disappointing. The decor itself is very trendy, and this place attracts many eastern european patrons, so don't be alarmed by the err.."exuberance" of the clientele.... (hey, i'm russian, so yeah i said it mwaha). The bar is pretty extensive in terms of liquor variety and there are also several pool tables. There are food and drink specials everyday and the staff WANT YOU TO KNOW BECAUSE THEY ADVERTISE THEM EVERYWHERE EVEN THE WOMEN'S BATHROOM SO YOU CANNOT ESCAPE. (picture provided) Our waitress was a nice lady. Ever so often my friend and I would have to flag her down for drink refills, but it wasn't bothersome and she was very quick with bringing back beverages. Yeah, i'd chill here again. read more

I used to come to Mistico few years ago when it just opened and it was the only lounge European type of cafe with crowd, lotsa drinks options, etc.. Me and many of my friends used to really like it. However, the last few times it has been a real dissapointment. Owners became cheap and somewhat rude. My best friend ordered a salad and it was a half of the portion it usede to be. When she asked for some more vegetables, the main manager kept arguing with her and refused to do anything about it. When I went there for lunch and asked to substitute chicken on a salad with octapus, I was charged for a full salad with chicken ($9) PLUS a whole entire octopus appetizer (another $9). So in that chicken salad which didnt even have any totatoes but basically lettuce, onion, pepper and cheese, with octopus on top I paid $18... When I complained the owner offered to take a $1 off... as if in that very poor chopped salad chicken was only $1... the other $8 were obviously the onions, peppers and lettuce... Just disspointing to see how service and food quality level has degraded... And obviously the new "customer retention" attitude is coming from management themselves. read more

As a Greek, I can tell you that this place reminds me somewhat of cafes in Athens. What I like most about the place is the diversity of the menu. The menu is not like restaurants in Greektown. I recommend the Loukaniko (greek sausage), the dip platter (greek dips) as starters. For the main meal, I recommend their specials of the day as well as the regular Greek salad, and salmon sandwich. This place also does killer deserts. I recommend the crepes. Also, great alcohol selection, beers from different parts of the world. Good spot in the summer. Highly recommend it. read more

I dont know why I like it, maybe its too much like the mother Russia, but a bit classier and they have nutella crepes (which you should order). There is pool, but Ive only come here with friends for some late night snacks. They are open late, have comfy chairs and calamari. Also, crepes and coffees are quite good. They also offer hearty dishes, so if you are hungry this place will do the trick. Sometimes its too loud, but hey they are open late, and some sacrifices are to be made. read more

They have THE best crepes! Nutella, Raspberry, Feta cheese etc., you name it, they have it and it's DELICIOUS. Just ignore all the Russians, play some pool or sit outside and it's a good night :) read more

I have come here quite a few times and enjoyed it for the most part. The food was always good, the drinks were great, and the portions were normal to large. The last time I was there I ordered a Souvlake Pita Wrap with French Fries. It tasted amazing and the portion was quite large. Everything was great until we reached the end of the night when our waitress seemed to rush us out of there. She continued to check-in on us and clear off the plates quickly. I say yes to the food but the service can do better. read more

A Greek dark taverna with sine pool tables and interesting bar bires. A great patio in warmer weather and pretty dasmil serving drinks. A bad strip mall location gives this a three star mark read more

I'm a regular here. I love coming to a place where I feel like I've escaped from my world into Eastern Europe. The food is excellent and they have some new cocktails that are unreal. I came here to watch the world cup and our group was sooo impressed with this place. The patio is awesome and you could actually watch the soccer game from outside. There were a lot of people smoking, but there was enough of a breeze that I never minded. I think I've ordered nearly everything on the menu at this point. Highlights- the sausage is homemade and the flatbread app is delicious. Crepes are excellent and I love the flaming cheese with lemon. OMPA! TIP- don't expect this place to be busy until 10PM read more

Lived in the neighborhood for a while never been to this place and won't be back. They weren't enforcing masks when not at their seats there was not social distancing between groups sat at the bar top. Not going back anytime soon. read more

Wife and I decided to try this place out since we had a Restaurant.com coupon AND it is only about 6 blocks away. It is in a strip mall that also has a place called Shree Vaibhav, a wonderful Indian take out restaurant. The first thing we noticed was that there were several tables OUTSIDE the restaurant where people were smoking, HEAVILY! When we walked in, the entire place REEKED from the stench of cigarettes because the place had ALL the patio doors wide open thus allowing the cigarette smoke to waft all through the restaurant. We walked straight out never to come back. If you're a smoker, this is the place for you. If not, steer WAY clear of this place. You've been warned!!!!!! read more

Hidden gem in the North suburbs located in a strip mall makes it almost unnoticed, the food and atmosphere make you want to come back for more, especially during the summer when the tables are outdoors. What makes this place special is the wide variety of tapas style offerings that set it apart from the typical "sports bar" fare. Another incentive to visit is they offer coupons on Restaurants.com which allow you to explore the many appetizers with your family and friends without breaking the bank. read more

It was my first visit to this location. And just had couple of Martinis with my colleague and our server have been soooo sweet and welcoming! Even being with this company for a week she gave us a great recommendations and made me feel very comfortable! She made my evening so great ! I'll definitely go back and I hope to be served by this lady ! She knows her job very well ( I hope u read this ) ! Keep it up ! read more

Great food and drinks! Nice local hangout spot to kick back or play a game of pool. Strongly recommend.

We ordered beers and burgers on a Friday night. Our waitress was nice, pretty fast (I think she was the only one waiting tables that night) and was helpful. The beers were cold, the food was very good, and not too hot either. The food was presented nicely, too. The environment left something to be desired, though. The air smelled pretty bad, and there were several people smoking in the patio area. Although they closed the door behind them, there were enough times where the door was opened for the smell of cigarette smoke to leak into the restaurant. The lighting was lacking, as well. I could read my menu since it was still daytime outside, and there are plenty of windows close to where we were seated, but not a lot of overhead lighting. I don't think we'll be back here, but that's mostly because this restaurant is not for me. read more

I've eaten here many times over the past 10 years. They have delicious food and a cool vibe.. great for lunch, drinks, dinner, or date night, and in the summer they have a patio! Favorite side dish: potato salad read more

Cafe Mistiko - Sports Bars Near Me - Deerfield, Illinois

See all

Bartender with ponytail and beard assaulted me for I kid you not, trying to pay my tab. I didn't do anything wrong, yet he grabbed my arm, pushed me against the wall and started calling me a "worthless piece of ----" and that he was "sick of babysitting." and that he "never wants to see my face again." generally making me feel small and worthless. I did absolutely nothing to warrant such a violent reaction and felt absolutely confused by his actions. His delusions and proneness towards violence made me feel like I was dealing with a meth user. read more

Living in BG for years now, I was influenced by an acquaintance that exclaimed "You are Russian, and you haven't been there?!!" to actually go there and check it out, Sometimes nostalgia hits home, and I have to check out a Russian place or two around my house. So, off to Mistiko hubby and I went. There some were awesome Baltika beer canopies, and I thought that you can't go wrong with a place that has Baltika canopies outside. But boy was I wrong. After walking into a dimly lit enormous space, we were seated at a table by an Eastern Euro waitress that had a facial expression of a London beefeater, which is...completely devoid of any expression. After trying to read the menu in the dark, I stumbled upon bruschetta, which I love. You can't fuck up a bruschetta, can you? yes, you can, and Mistiko managed to do just that. I wasnt sure that it was bruschetta when I bit into a hard piece of white bread with huge chunks of raw garlic on it. It looked more like those frozen garlic breads that you find at a frozen food section at a gas station than a bruschetta, and cost way more than it shoud've. Hubby got a chicken sandwich, and it was nothing to write home about. The place itself could have ALOT more potential, be it not so dark in there, with terrible uncomfortable chairs at the tables, and dull bland food and waitstaff. The clientele was mostly barely out of diapers "mafia" wannabes from Ukraine with their barely pubescent girlfriends in UGGS and sparkly parkas, some out of place older people that attempted to play pool in the dark, and a couple of business looking middleaged men that were ogling the sparkly parka clad females. Needless to say, I am not coming back to Mistiko, even though I live a couple of blocks from there. read more

Place is getting old. Needs some refreshing inside. Service is so so depending on the day. Haven't tried much food on their menu but I wouldn't call the food good. Drink selection is decent but drinks are not that strong and tasty for the prices they charge in the suburbs read more

I've eaten here twice when visiting the area over the past 2 years. This most recent time I had dinner here. The food has always been excellent and is priced reasonable. The staff is lacking though. They seem not to care at all, service is slow, and they do not check to see if you need anything or need refills. The restaurant was not busy either. read more

Food was mediocre at best and the service was awful. Had to argue with the manager about the Yelp deal he put out. He wanted to apply a limitation to it that was not stated on the form - 1 per table. Sorry pal, if you don't state it you can't invoke it. read more

Fun place to grab drinks and even a light lunch/dinner with friends. Great crepes and decent food for a 'bar' type of establishment. You will see a younger crowd here most nights and more of the European population as well. read more

Overall I like this place - really friendly staff and the food doesn't blow me away (some was overly spiced, for sure) but I'm at least glad they had decent food considering it's definitely more bar than restaurant. Easy parking, fair prices, pretty good food...won't go out of my way to come again but overall really liked it! read more

cute place for drinks and dessert (have never eaten a full meal here). the crepes are amazing. one of the few places around where you can go for drinks that is not a sportsbar. chill vibe. you can sit outside. read more

Food=phenom. Euros=phenom. Musix=best. Don't be such an Amcericano omg!

Menu: I had a panini with Caesar salad which was extremely tasty! Everything was cooked to perfection for everyone I went with. We ate outside and I enjoyed that the music was not too loud out there like it can be at other restaurants. The place was empty except for us and 2 older gentlemen playing backgammon and we went during the main lunch time. The staff was fairly slow/forgetful and did not seem like they wanted to be there. The food style is Grecian, and I didn't really see anything there that would make it a "sports bar" This place would have gotten 4+ stars if the wait staff was a little more attentive/gracious. read more

I liked it, the food is decent, and cheaper them most places around. I do agree with other posts about the decor, they need to spruce this place up a bit. The music is a little too loud and the lights are a little too dimmed, but over all its not a bad place to hang out and have a bite to eat and have a smoothie. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. We just moved to the area and thought it looked like an interesting place to stop by dinner. Big mistake! The place was so dark you cannot read the menus. Literally! We needed to whip out our cell phones to read it. Never been in a darker place. The decor is a weird blend of euro trash punk, sports bar and Arabian cafe and none of it blends together. Cigarette smoke wafted in from the connected outside area (two feet from the entrance as well) which opens right to the inside tables (there has to be some violation of the IL no-smoking law here) and the air reeked. It is as if they hired three architects to design the place and none of them knew what the other was planning. But one could easily get past that part if the service was good and on this point they failed horribly. The waitstaff was cold and blank, like they were flown in from a Russian gulag. Our waitress rolled her eyes at my fiance's simply request to change the greek salad. We asked for bread and was told no - only comes with meal (how hard is to bring it out in the beginning if I requested this?). Strike one. We ordered a greek potatoes appetizer but it arrived with the meal and the waitress played it off by stating everyone orders it with the meal. I am glad that everyone else likes it with their meal but I ordered it as an APPETIZER (which by the way is where it is listed on the menu) so what the hell do I care how other people like it? Strike 2. I ordered the chicken pasta and I got soluvaka instead. She dropped the meal on the table so fast I could not even say something and then she ran off (the place was not busy at all - what is the rush). So I just ate it (i was starving) as we wanted to get the hell out of the place. Two minutes later she comes back and says, whoops I gave you the wrong meal. No s**t but by then it was too late. Excuses were provided but come on there is no excuse. Strike 3. Food was OK - nothing to write home about. Worst experience I have had dining in a long time. A miserable place for families, couples on a date, or if you just wanted to stop by for a nice drink and a chat. If you watch the Jersey Shore and love the show then maybe you are their target client base - everyone else will be really disappointed with this place. Much better choices out there. read more

My new go to spot! I loved the deals everyday. We went on Wednesday and they have $6 martinis with 2 free oysters! We also loved their panini's! I had the grilled salmon panini, it tasted great! Finished desert with a crepe. Omg I do not like crepes but theirs was so soft and sweet! Great place for all occasions :) read more

I love the saganaki burger!! And the salmon....we've been going here a lot now, and its our new default "I don't feel like cooking spot."

I work across the street and come in to meet my friends for a late dinner here sometimes. I know the bouncer, he is very nice and always friendly. The drinks are very good. I've tried many of the items on the menu and I do agree with Gina, the meat is usually dry and the panini's are average in my opinion. But I do enjoy the Salad's. It's nice place to relax and hang out with friends. read more

I've never had a bad meal. Great appetizers. Big screens for the Hawks games (the only thing is no volume). Service is good. No complaints.

Although the place is very popular with the Easter European crowed it has quite a few nice pool tables many tv's and offers a person a verity of different beverages and eats that is not limited to the "traditional" stuff served in you average run of the mill sports bar. Side warning portions on the menu are relatively large i made a mistake of ordering an appetizer and a blitz and could not finish all the food that was served. read more

Well, what can I say. I was a regular if you can even call that coming once a month LOL. On the other hand my brother and his friends come here a lot. The food is great but I mostly just come for the beer. The outdoor patio is great for chilling and smoking by the way. read more

The food was great, the service not the best. There was only one server for a large number of people and she kept messing up everyone's order. Instead it was a nasty tasting shot that looked rotten as I was sipping on it. read more

Ive been to mystiko a few times and sorry to say that i wasnt blown away. The small tvs make it hard to watch anything. I must say that thier chicken kabob was excellent. Another thing i didnt like was the fact that the pool lights were more for decoration than to actually play pool. Besides that it was an average place to go and not somewhere that I would normally hang out. read more
