Got their matcha but didn't realize it was presweetened. The barista was really nice and made me a large latte on the house to make up for it. Came here on a rare rainy day and the vibes were perfect. Free WiFi and lots of seating.

Went into again today and there was a mouse just running around on the table and the ground. I'm not sure if the workers of the cafe saw it, but I hope they remove it. A bit concerning how easily they can get into the cafe.

i've been going here since highschool and love some of the prices (the bagels) and the people are always very friendly. but paying 13 dollars (10.95 with tax) for 1 slice of toast, regular tomato instead of advertised cherry tomato's, and an old hard boiled egg with grey ish rim (yes ik it's safe to eat) is not worth the price. added a photo of it next to my hand for comparison. i guess i was expecting it to be warm as well which is my fault. the people here are amazing i just was disappointed with this meal.

I became a regular there the past summer and I believe that it's such a good spot to study and drink a coffee with friends. Food; The drinks are sometimes a hit or a miss but the chai never missed for me. 2/3 stars depends on what you get and I just love chai Ambiance: LITERALLY SO CUTE. The trees and atmosphere here makes it such a unique place in all of Berkeley that even after you leave the city you want to find a similar experience. 2/1 stars Service: Like many places depends on who you get as a worker. I had a person being trained so it was fun seeing them learn. But if it's someone from the kitchen there will be less focus on customer service which makes sense since they're they're for cooking. 1/1 hit or miss tbh but it's fine

Staff kicked students out in midst of an active shooter event not even halfway down the street. Disgusting lack of regard for human life. I'm a Cal alum who frequented Cafe Milano for its proximity to campus. I regret every penny I spent on your lackluster drinks. Your staff doesn't just need training on how to make a Mocha Bianca, your staff needs training on how to be decent human beings. Your bathroom is busted, your wifi never works, you have like -3 outlets, you always have flies and fruit flies in clouds on the 1st floor.

It's a decent cafe. I went with my boyfriend and we ordered sandwiches. The sandwiches weren't that special. After taking a couple bites, the sandwich wasn't really calling me to take more bites. However, my boyfriend enjoyed the sandwiches more. It's a great study area if you don't mind background noise. However, the wifi wasn't too great in my memory. It's also a nice meeting location or cafe to catch up with friends. The distance to Berkeley campus is also nice. If you have class later in the day but want a different scene from the libraries before class, it's a good alternative. There's also interesting photos that capture UC Berkeley's history on the second floor. I recommend checking Cafe Milano out, it has cute vibes with the greenery, photography, and overall design. Just keep in mind that the food isn't mind blowing.

Cafe Milano is a spacious cafe with a 2nd level for laptopping. offerings: pastries, cafe, sandwiches, salads, soups... drink: dark roast covffee (m. 2.50) -pre-brewed in a big coffee canister. -robust flavor with little bitterness, smooth, easy sipping. -quick service post noon, -plenty of seating thruout cafe....

One of the best places near the Berkeley campus to get work done. It's super spacious - with seating both downstairs and upstairs. There's a large food selection and a great place to grab breakfast. There's an assortment of drinks from blended coffees to teas. The blended drinks are bit watery. Also, the wifi is pretty bad here so I'd recommend using a hotspot if possible .

    egg and cheese burrito
    Christie B.

I would come back for the grab and go egg and cheese burrito! It is a great price (3.95) for what you're getting, with lots of egg and cheese! It is more of a mini burrito but that's also what I love about it because it is so convenient to eat and you don't have to commit to a full one. A lot of other convenient typical cafe foods such as pastries, bagels, and salads and sandwiches. The coffee is very okay. The ambiance is alright - I would say it is enjoyable in the early mornings, when it is quieter and you can easily find seating. But after that it can get very cramped and stuffy in my experience, especially in the upstairs seating area. I have also noticed there are a lot of flies inside so it does take away from the experience too. Wifi is not the most reliable and can be spotty sometimes.

Hello, my fellow café junkies…read more I LOVE little cafés. I will happily spend my hard-earned money on an overpriced chai latte while sitting somewhere cute pretending I have my life together. So when I say I'm definitely not coming back here, just know it pains my café-loving heart. First, let me give credit where credit is due: the atmosphere is GREAT. Super cute. Super cool. Great little hidden spot. The service, however? SucKs--with a capital K. ‍ Here's how my first--and probably last--visit went: 1. We ordered THREE chai lattes: two hot chai lattes and one iced chai latte with oat milk. Pretty straightforward. Nobody was ordering a 14-step potion from Hogwarts. 2. We received only two drinks. So, channeling my inner Karen from Boyle Heights, I politely went back and said, "Excuse me, we ordered THREE chai lattes." 3. They told me they hadn't charged me for the third drink. Okay! No problem. I work my ass off. I don't mind spending money. Charge me, hermana. Let's get this chai flowing. 4. I took a sip of my supposedly hot chai latte and immediately my taste buds sounded the emergency alarm: NOPE. THAT'S COFFEE. 5. I looked at my husband suspiciously and asked, "Is yours chai or coffee?" He took his first sip and said, "This is coffee." At this point, the chai lattes had apparently entered the Witness Protection Program because nobody could find them. 6. I went back. To their credit, they were perfectly willing to remake the drinks. Thank you! And when we finally received the two hot chai lattes, they were actually GOOD. Crisis temporarily averted. 7. THEN I looked over at my friend holding the supposedly iced chai latte with oat milk and thought, Wait a minute... "Taste yours." He takes a sip. "This is coffee." GIRL. THREE chai lattes ordered. THREE chai lattes misunderstood. At that point, I wasn't ordering beverages anymore. I was participating in a listening-comprehension assessment. ‍ The person taking our order seemed rushed, distracted, and all over the place. And listen--mistakes happen. I teach for a living. I have patience. But when every single drink in one order is wrong, we've moved beyond "oops" and entered performance art. No manchen--venimos a gastar, no a pendejear. ‍ So here's my recommendation: If you're particular about actually receiving the beverage you ordered, you may want to try another café. Or, if this place has an app, USE THE APP. Let technology translate "chai latte" into "chai latte" because apparently the spoken version is giving everybody trouble. Better yet, buy your drinks somewhere else and bring them here. Then you can enjoy the cute atmosphere without participating in Chai Latte Roulette: Will It Be Chai? Will It Be Coffee? Nobody Knows! The place is called Hidden Café, and after today's experience... I can see why it's hidden. Cute environment? Absolutely. Would I trust them with another three-chai-latte mission? Esta mamona la cosa. Hard pass. ‍ Come for the atmosphere. Bring your own drink. And may the odds of receiving what you ordered be ever in your favor. Signed, A recovering Chicana Karen from Boyle Heights who just wanted her damn chai.

I've visited elaichi twice since in the area already and I plan on going back again. My first visit was on a Monday morning with a friend. I ordered the Banana Chai Einspanner (chai with banana sea salt cold foam) with oat milk and the Aloo Tiki Paratha Roll (potato fritter with cilantro chutney, red onion and garlic yogurt). My friend ordered a hot latte and the Paratha Quiche (tomato, red onion, Serrano and cilantro). We also shared a piece of Pistachio Cake. The Banana Chai Einspanner is simply the best drink I have ever had in my entire life. I am truly not kidding. It is so decadent, smooth, spicy, fresh. This is the best drink to grace this plant. My friend was really happy with her latte as well. I wouldn't say it strikes the "classic chai" chord, as this is incredibly sweet, so if you're looking for that, I would select a more basic option on the menu. It's also worth noting, the Banana Chai is a seasonal option for the summer. As for the food, everything was delicious. The Pistachio Cake was moist and had such great flavor. The crusts on both of our savory dishes were so flaky! I visited again on a Tuesday morning (yes the next day) and ordered the Banana Chai Einspanner once again and the quiche. Both were as delicious as the first time around. And the product isn't it all. The staff at elaichi are incredibly friendly. Even when the shop was busy on the Monday morning, we were taken care of with respect and care. I can tell the staff also have good relationships with those in the community. The atmosphere of elaichi is also lovely. There is plenty of seating inside and outside and a raised countertop for folks who want to work but stand up. This is a must visit!!!

The interior is fine, small but tables and wifi if you want to get some work done or study.
