For our Europe trip we really wanted to invest our money and time with experiences, so we had to sacrifice lavish hotels for quaint ones. When our receptionist recommended this humble establishment and we'd get 10% off for staying with them, I was a little concerned. Affordable businesses helping each other out? Very, very dubious.
However, when we walked the mere 500 ft from our little hotel, we were greeted by the most charming cafe, well this looked promising I thought. We perused the menu and there was nothing pretentious about it, simple ingredients that seemed to promise authentic and traditional flavors. I've been to many high end restaurants/cafes in the USA and it always baffles me that they manage to burn the toast. I mean, it's toast for crying out loud!
My only qualm would be the coffee. It didn't taste bad, but it wasn't delicious either. This is where you could taste "affordability". But it was a minor, minor, thing after all breakfast comprises of the main dish not drink, and they surely delivered in the most important part of anyone's day! read more
