I was staying nearby in Shoreditch on my recent trip to London so stopped by Ozone for coffee and breakfast on a couple of days. Loved the iced hojicha chocolate special which tasted like a decadent iced chocolate which was delicious. The flat white is also solid and I enjoyed by Eggs Benedict with house smoked trout and bibble and squeak. So good and really yummy food that is comforting without feeling too heavy. read more

Back in the old stomping grounds and I hate to say it but this place used to be so much better. The lines & crowd are the same it the experience is way different and not a good way. I lived a few blocks away 10 years ago and used to go here a lot. I could sit all day and work and as long as I bought something it was fine. Brought my husband to experience it and my old neighborhood favorites and it's all different now. We ordered 2 drinks and pasties to go, I went to go sit down and got yelled ask for taking a table...they didn't used to be restaurant seating...and I didn't know, and even so, if I was going to have a brunch or lunch, I'd be annoyed to sit at a bar or facing a window at a communal situation assigned to me and others. Especially at the price point. Our food was fine, nothing crazy special at all. The lunch used to be good years ago but I didn't do lunch this time so I don't know if it is still good. I got tea, so that's pretty hard to mess up (especially in GB) my husband just gets black coffee, so again hard to mess up. Expensive for what we get but I know that going in - it was about sharing my spots and nostalgia and that got blown up by the rudeness. So no, I wouldn't recommend this place anymore and if I moved back I probably wouldn't go here anymore either. While visiting London earlier this month, I stopped by Ozone Coffee one day with the intent to grab a quick coffee before heading over to spend the afternoon at the British Museum. Once inside, I loved the vibe and environmentally driven ethos of Ozone Coffee so much that I decided to have a slow coffee and brunch experience instead. I'm logging this occasion under "GOOD DECISIONS WORTH CELEBRATING" for the following reasons: 1. Phenomenal food - I ordered a dirty chai along with two eggs scrambled with parmesan cheese, gluten free toast, black pudding, and the dish also came with a side of rhubarb jam. Despite the meal being so simple/rudimentary, it ended up being one of my favorite meals from the entire trip! The dirty chai was one of the best I've ever had. The black pudding tasted like a mash up of well-seasoned Pennsylvania Dutch scrapple and country sausage from the American South. The eggs were perfectly scrambled. The gluten free bread was loaded with flavor, and it was on par with the Einkorn bread I had in Tucson, Arizona from the legendary Barrio Bread. The jam brought everything together and was the perfect garnish for each curated bite. Nom nom. 2. Exceptional service - This is a place where teamwork makes the dream work! 3. The industrial chic ambience - The upstairs dining room was well-designed, and I particularly enjoyed the natural light from the oversized windows and the view of the open kitchen and barista's station that I had directly from my seat at the bar. When I went downstairs to use the restroom (aka wash closet), I could also see the area where the coffee beans are ground and other unique features of the building. A very misleading name for practically a restaurant, not a coffee shop. The name is "Ozone Coffee" nowhere in the name does it specify that it does breakfast and lunch. I had no idea what I was walking into. I thought it was going to be coffee roasters specializing in just coffee. I walked in and a blue moustached man asked me if I had a reservation. A reservation for a coffee shop??? Um... I looked around and sure enough the place was organized like a cafe diner of some sort with booths and a fully functioning kitchen smack in the middle of it. People sat around the bar drinking alcoholic beverages and eating food. Nowhere was coffee taking centre stage in any of this. There was a small to go area that was making coffee for customers to take away in disposable cups. I didn't want to drink out of a disposable cup so I continued to line up for a seat to be available. Around 5 to 6 minutes later, I was ushered to sit down and given menus and everything. I was only there for coffee, not a full blown dining experience. This is what I mean when I say MISLEADING. Anyway, there was nothing I could do but go along with it. I ordered my latte, an espresso, and to not look weird I also got fries or chips on the side which came with brown sauce. The fries were EXTREMELY salty and the allegedly homemade brown sauce tasted strange. An odd blend of sweet/savory flavor. I wiped some of the excess salt off my chips and dunked them in the sauce. It was alright actually. After a few bites, I kind of liked it. The coffee was lacklustre. Again, nothing memorable. My husband said his espresso tasted weird, like HP sauce. Savory. He wasn't sure if it was brewed correctly. An unpleasant experience for coffee. Overall, a strange, misleading place. Not the coffee shop I was expecting. I definitely wouldn't call it a speciality coffee place since coffee doesn't remotely take centre stage. read more

Coffee was outstanding I had an Americano with cow milk and my wife had the iced latte. We ordered the Mushroom Toast with poached egg and the eggs Benedict with belly bacon. The presentation was exceptional and the customer service from all three staff members we encountered was superb. My wife gave her mushroom toast 12/10 and my Eggs Benedict was a solid 10/10. The hostess made the exception of allowing us passage to seat in reserved area upon arrival. Overall I highly recommend this spot in London. An absolute gem of a place for breakfast. Stopped here one morning on our vacation and had americanos, mochas, French toast, and eggs on sourdough. Everything was prepared perfectly. The place was slammed with customers and a line out the door. With so many eateries around, that's pretty impressive. The wait staff was very attentive and we sat at the bar in front of the cooks. What a great breakfast place we went to this morning. Close to the Underground station Old Street is this amazing breakfast place that was already pretty crowed when we arrived like at 9:15 on a Saturday morning. As all places are already taken upstairs, we get stable on the lower floor where also some tables are waiting to host their guests. The menu looks pretty good, we order some scrambled eggs on sourdough bread, bacon and a big breakfast that comes with sausages, grilled tomatoes and hash browns. With these dishes we also order coffee that is freshly roasted by the venue itself. They roast up to 3 tons of coffee per week and sell it to a lot of close-by venues. We know why, after we drank it: fantastic!! Like 15-20 minutes later, the food is served and it looks delicious and is also as tasty! The location is pretty stylish and modern and hip people are working there and are super friendly. An awesome place to have breakfast, although it is quite expensive: We pay 45 pounds including tip which is a lot but alright for the quality you get! Check it out! read more

My mom had been talking about Ozone coffee since she had started working in London six months prior to me going the first time. I remember her calling me and telling me it was the best breakfast she had yet in London and I have to agree with her. The vibe is truly hipster, busy and fast-paced. It is something very similar to something you'd find in Brooklyn, or any trendy US metro. It's a fun way to do a weekend brunch before going out to shop the markets. The staff is friendly and efficient. You will probably have to wait in a queue, but it goes fast! We sat on the bar bench that overlooks the open kitchen, it was so much fun! The cooks were very entertaining and incredible at their jobs. Their latte was the best one I had in England, they clearly care about the whole coffee process from the bean to the roasting, to the pulling of the espresso. The milk was done right and the espresso had great flavor. I ordered the Omelette with carrots, zucchini puree, swiss chard, and cheese. It was the best omelette I've ever had. Fluffy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I was able to eat the whole thing despite the size. We also ordered the fries and oh my goodness, they were fried perfectly, tasted incredible and were accompanied by vegan aioli. When in London, this is a must! read more

Modern, chic and gorgeous. It feels like a great modern cafe that I'd love back in Los Angeles. My friend invited me to Ozone as her favorite coffee location, and I was pleasantly surprised by the visit. Granted, for me it's been nearly five years since my last proper visit, so I hadn't seen a good proper evaluation of the London coffee/food scene. Ozone really is a hip and modern cafe much like what we're experiencing in Los Angeles. You come into Ozone and are greeted to a coffee bar in the middle with a beautiful wooden look as well as table seating surrounding it. In the middle in the open is the kitchen and coffee being made right in front of you. Coming in mid-day, I was greeted warmly by the hostess and taken to my seat. For take away, you'll just go straight to the right to the cashier. My friend ordered a latte which looked delicious and came in a beautiful cup. I was feeling adventurous and ordered an espresso tonic after asking for fascinating recommendations from the waitress. Admittedly, it was super weird at first taste and looked more like an old fashioned. However, the drink really grew on me. It was refreshing and crisp and beautifully presented. I didn't try any of the bigger food items but just opted for a cookie since I was going to get dinner soon after. The cookie was just the right size - not too big and not overly sweet. Instead of English muffin, the eggs sit on top of breaded potato mash. Quite interesting and tasty indeed. They were poached near or at exact point of goodiness, so no complaint there. Yolks leisurely fill out the bacony base and then your stomach. This is what I like about eggs that way and this place did not disappointed me. Coffee is good, so we had a double. We stayed in a warehouse apartment in Shoreditch and found that this spot was quite nearby. Convenience led us to try it twice. We enjoyed a relaxing and tourist-friendly lunch in this local spot. Our espresso and cappuccino were spot on. I also popped by for a double espresso to go one morning and that was again perfectly made and quite tasty. I'm sure there is a Starbucks nearby but honestly, why go there when you can come here, have a proper coffee, without beans roasted to beyond well done! As for the meal, it was nicely presented but slightly lacking. I'm clearly not an expert on chips but these were a bit bland and perhaps under-cooked. Return visit had some service issues, the core one was being given the wrong coffee (I specified Burundi with V60 and got the relatively much less aromatic Columbian with woodneck), particularly annoying since the waitress had recommended it, I accepted the recommendation and then she somehow ordered me something else. Also, we had the chance to discover that not all the food items are as great as the kedgeree or the rhubarb pancake: the tortilla was an oily mess of onions and overcooked steamed eggs (when they start crumbling a little) which took some effort to finish, and the halloumi was soggy instead of the crisp rubbery texture that can be so glorious. The well-groomed bearded young man took my order for "An Americano, black; the farm fresh brown eggs folded gently and served on the toasted organic sourdough bread; and a side of your organic pork belly that has been sliced and fried to be light and crispy." We had our best meal in London in this place. Their coffee is too notch. Their food is absolutely delicious and prepared with knowledge of ingradiants. We go some specialty coffees that come with a description card. We got omelettes that were some of the best we had. I had one of the best poached eggs I ever had. It came on top of fried mashed potatoes. We got the granola that was spiced. We also got their juice that is freshly squeezed. We had gotten into a bit of a breakfast rut...so I'm laying in bed, basking in the early fall air, wanting some breakfast and feeling burned out on everything in our rotation. ::::lightbulb flashes:::: Me: ooooooo, baked eggs at Ozone. Husband: have you been there? Me: No, not for the eggs. Husband: Then how do you know they are good? Me: Grant T said they are really great. Husband: You are using last name initials... Me: Yelpers are always right. Husband: Fair enough. So we wander over to Ozone around 10am on Saturday, are quickly seated at the bar overlooking the (extremely efficient and tactile) cooks and kitchen. Already things are going well. Americanos appear. Even better. I order the (of course!) Baked Eggs with beans and cheese, which is accompanied by a thick slice of sourdough. Next time I'd even add a few strips of streaky bacon or sausage as a side. Once doubtful husband dove into a platter of eggs, beans, toast and a side of beans. I'd add avocado next time too, they looked super fresh and add a bit of ruffage to the mix. Both plates totally devoured. One important note: NO alterations or substitutions. They mean it. IT's cool though it means they churn out that food like nobody's business and no one gets confused. If you don't like something, pawn it off on your partners and you can customize through some added side dishes, of which there are plenty. The coffee is outstanding, roasted onsite. I dare you to find fault with an Ozone coffee -- I even stopped back on Sunday for a to-go cup after giving Salvation Jane a whirl (see, I am getting out of this rut, I tell ya). The feel is very industrial, clean, but somehow...warm. Very cool, but comfortable. The vibe is relaxed, the staff was on point during our visit, and people really seemed to enjoy the food and coffee. For under 30 quid we had two huge breakfasts, coffees and left feeling darn good about our newest recruit to the weekend circuit. read more

Hands down, this place is amazing. Service is great, ambiance is very chill and calm, and the staff is very kind. I live in Manchester but considering a couple of years ago I used to live/work 3-4 days a week in Shoreditch it was regularly on my list to hit! I was back in town after a long sabbatical last week and things haven't changed a bit, a lovely chilled environment - busy as hell but still feeling comfortable, with me even bumping into a couple of friends I hadn't seen for ages. It really has got that 'Cheers' everyone knows your name feel! Coffee is excellent (I drink their Hudson blend up here at Federal in Manchester) and their cakes and snacks are fantastic. Things really could not have worked out better on our first trip to Ozone. We were met straight away by the friendly hostess/counter person/waitress who directed us to our seats. She handed over the menus, informed us of two breakfast items that were no longer being served, adorned our counter top spot with tap water then left us to peruse the food selection. Shortly thereafter, another nice, young woman came to take our drink order. The flat whites, by most standards, came in record time! Then, the original gal came back 'round to take our order. We had a few menu questions which she deftly answered, and that was that. Our food came out fairly quickly, too. The hubs had a Benedict-the foundation of which was made up of bubble and squeak instead of an English muffin-and pronounced it some kind of superlatively tasty experience. I ate both a gluten-free brownie (not terribly moist, but dense and chocolate-y) served with lovely whipped cream and half of the hub's grub. So good. Quick 48 hour trip to London, I was looking for a cafe to sit and relax, and indulge in great coffee and food. Luckily our hotel was nearby and after a quick Yelp search decided to give Ozone a try. I was also really excited to see the London coffee scene which I heard is very comparable to the US. While there was a line out the door, I was able to snag a great seat by the bar/front windows since I was dining solo. Service was a little slow but then it was packed. I was there pretty early on a Saturday morning (around 930am) and so I dined with the gym crew and early risers, which was so identical to LA I couldn't help my laugh. I ordered a cup of single origin coffee, and the smoked mackerel plate which 1) seemed like a very local British meal and 2) came super recommended by my server. Couldn't have been happier with it, and was probably the best thing I ate in London. The coffee was incredible and truly set a great first impression of London's coffee game. The mackerel toast I received was also out of this world. Usually at trendy places like these the food suffers. However, this dish was perfect. Loved the freshness from the cucumbers, bread was nice and chewy and overall the whole dish worked. Would love to come back on another London trip but in the mean time would def recommend to anyone looking for a hipster London coffeehouse with great food and views. read more
