This is the perfect brunch spot! Because of its popularity there is sometimes a line outside to be seated, but let that be a testament to how good it is! I went in with my friend while staying in the Whitechapel area and we got lucky and were seated within just a few minutes. I ordered a chai latte, and an avocado toast on sourdough with turkey bacon. Everything turned out delicious! I unfortunately ate it so fast that I didn't get any photos of the meal, only one of my beautiful (and tasty) chai latte. Came by for breakfast the other day and it was a decent experience. Started off with a latte and it was tasty. Temperature of the latte was great and the espresso was smooth. Moved on to the Beef sausage breakfast and it was decent. The beef sausage were rather finely grounded and a touch salty. The over easy eggs were great over a slide of buttered sourdough. The turkey bacon was a refreshing change as they weren't overly salty. The hash brown appeared to be a frozen version. I knew I had to try this place based on the pics online and the breakfast did not disappoint! I got the French toast with no toppings and I will be back tomorrow to try the pancakes. The French toast bread was nice and thick and fluffy but I would have liked a little more flavor. It was good with the syrup but I thought the syrup was a little too sweet. The hot chocolate was very tasty and I will be ordering it every tiime I get food here. Their lunch/dinner selections looked good too so I will try to check them out while I'm on the area. I found this cafe open at 7 am on a Saturday and it was only a 15 minute walk from my hotel. I didn't have high expectations but Grounded Coffee exceeded expectations. It's a medium sized coffee shop / restaurant with casual, comfortable seating for about 30 or so people. The service was welcoming and very fast. I had the Eggs Benedict which was a slight play off the classic breakfast. They used a thick piece of organic sourdough bread with two nice cuts of pan fried turkey bacon and two perfectly poached eggs on top. I had the hollandaise sauce on the side as I didn't want it downed in it but I ended up using the whole batch -- it was great! I also liked how it came with a small garden salad. I complemented the meal with a tall glass of their house-made carrot orange juice. It was a perfect start to the day. read more

Grounded is everything you'd want in a brunch option. With that in mind, avoid it for weekend brunch because it is crazy busy! Go for dinner or a late lunch because you'll be able to walk right in and order without dealing with a line. The vegetarian burger was wonderful, and the fries were exceptional. The English breakfast was very good but maybe not great. The sausage was bland, the beans were boring, but everything else delicious! I'd happily return. I came by myself to have breakfast and to relax. I sat down at the corner of the restaurant and had to flag down service to get a menu and order. I ordered a beef sausage breakfast because I wanted meat, beans, and sour dough. I told my waiter that I was still deciding on coffee and that the waiter never came back to ask me about my coffee or offered me water. I had to flag down another waiter to order my latte and ask for water as well. I understand that they were busy but for me to flag them down so many times is absurd. The place gave cozy cafe vibes and was very nice inside, great for dates or just catching up with a few friends, however I just could not with the service that was provided for me. French toast the size of an infant's head - smothered in strawberry jam, accompanied by rich maple syrup, fresh berries, and a generous dollop of crème fraîche and Nutella. I added a side of hash browns which were delish! My husband had a very generous serving of shakshuka that was delectable, which came with 3 slices of thick cut sourdough bread. I've read so many great reviews of this place and was quite disappointed with the food during my visit. Just about everything food-wise missed the mark. The chai latte w/ oat milk was very frothy and didn't have a chai taste at all. Even after I asked for more chai mix, it still tasted like warm, sour oat milk. The vegan pancakes, which I was told were good, tasted like cardboard -- very dense and lacked any flavor. Basically, you had to use the syrup and eat with the berries on top. Eventually, my desperation led me to a butter croissant, which I asked to have warmed and was delicious. The food is presented well and perhaps they have some good options, but what I tried generally missed the mark in the most disappointing way. On the plus side, the ambiance is great for meeting up with others or even studying alone. They're open all day and WiFi is free! read more
