Really excellent coffee with many comfortable nooks and crannies to relax, work and collaborate. I had the Flat White - well made, excellent coffee taste. Timberyard is definitely a good place to hangout whether you're in the neighborhood for leisure, to collaborate on work or to catch up on work on your own.
First stop on my quest to find the best matcha latte in London. Verdict: Not here. The matcha latte was good but not great. Could have been served at a higher temperature and lacked much sweetness even after adding sugar. My friend enjoyed a hot chocolate and cosy chairs we managed to find downstairs. It's a bit of a hectic vibe with most tables and chairs full. For a Saturday there were many people appearing to work, as they have work space available. A cool cafe to people watch or blend in. Large menu also includes a variety of healthy snacks.
I've been a regular of Timberyard's first location on Old Street for quite some time, so I was thrilled that they were opening a second location in a more central location. As a nomadic cafe worker AND a coffee snob, and it's not often I find a place that ticks all my boxes - but I dare say Timberyard comes pretty darn close. It's a freelancers dream. It's spacious, set over two floors, including plenty of tables and natural light. There are plugs at almost every table, and even meeting rooms for hire. The WiFi is fairly fast and reliable. They have *fantastic* coffee (and a mean flat white!) made with Has Been Coffee Roasters, and they serve up a pretty decent selection of food all day. Just make sure you get there early, the sandwiches sell out very quickly. Covent Garden was crying out for a place like this - I'll definitely spend many a working day here. Well, until the secret gets out!
Timberyard, you just get me. You get me SO hard. Seriously, ever since I left San Francisco I have been in coffee shop withdrawals. I just can't find many comparable places to work in London. In most coffee chains I've tried to use as office space, they either don't have enough plugs, the wifi is unreliable, it's overcrowded, or the coffee is blah. But Timberyard gets it right on all accounts, Not only is seating plentiful, you can find outlets in every nook and cranny. The staff is amazing and so friendly. Plus seating resembles a livingroom - you can plop yourself on a purple velvet armchair, a green couch or a dark brown sofa. It's so comfortable and chill. I love it. Plus nobody rushes you - you can stay as long as you want. It's ideal whether you're there working alone like me, with friends, or having a meeting. They even bring you a water bottle so you can stay hydrated while you work off your caffeine buzz. I am in love with their matcha green tea latte. I can't seem to find many coffee shops that make them in London. And I know how hipster that makes me sound. Oh well. Free wifi. No password. No pretentiousness.
Me (after only 4 days i the UK): I swear to god, if one more person tries to serve me instant coffee... The Yelp Chorus: Want good coffee in London? Get thee to Timberyard! Me: Hey, thanks guys! You were right! I'm from Portland and I work remotely, which means I spend a good amount of times in coffee shops can be a fairly insufferable coffee snob. And while London does so, so, so, so, SO many things well, coffee just isn't one of them. Unless you go to Timberyard. I'm in love with this place. First of all, I had both a great latte and and a fantastic cup of black filtered coffee. Second, their selection of pastries is so incredibly massive and delicious. Third, the cafe is spacious, with great light, plenty of tables, and reliable wifi. Four, the staff is super friendly, even when I spill water all over like a dummy. I make it to London about once a year, and I'm fairly confident that a visit to Timberyard will be on my agenda each trip.
The place was pretty packed on Monday morning with many people on their laptops. I didn't really feel like sitting anywhere inside there since the weather was beautiful outside so I ordered a flat white to go. I was surprised how hot and strong the flat white was, which is of my preference. I would definitely come back here again!
I was looking for a nice coffee place to bring my friend : I wanted something "trendy" but not crowded with tourists. Timberyard is perfect for this ! Don't expect to grab a seat upstairs, but downstairs there is a large space with plenty of tables, chairs and armchairs for a work reunion or a tea break with friends. About the drinks : the menu is impressive ! Macchiato, Cappucino, Latte, Mocha, Chai Latte, Hot Chocolate, Boozy Chocolate, Matcha Latte... Trust me, you'll find something to drink (and I think the almond milk was available for free). And for the real coffee lovers, fear not, there is fresh brewed exotic coffees everyday... And then comes the food : brownies, blondies, tarts, crodoughs. The treats come from various bakeries in London. I had a cherry cronut (a little bit sticky, maybe because it was the end of the day) and my friend had a massive peanut butter brownie. Yum !! I might go back there for work... Maybe I'll focus better on my work with a latte than at home ;) [I wrote part of this review on my blog]
Timberyard is great. I'm new to London, and I have been searching for a cute cafe to be able to do work. Timberyard isn't too far from my campus (and a lot of other colleges), and they offer really fast, free wifi and a huge property to work in. There are PLENTY of outlets and desks - even in crowded times, there's usually a place you can squeeze in. Timberyard is also open relatively late - compared to the other cafes of London. The food is also delicious. My first time here, I got a latte and a Apple crodough. The latte was delicious and not too creamy, which I like, and it had some nice swirls on top. The apple crodough was also super yummy - not a crispy cronut, but full of apple goodness. The second time I was here, I got a soup and iced Americano. I was pleasantly surprised to see Rosemary bread come with the soup! All their items are also served with a complimentary bottle of flat water, a glass, napkins, and anything else you could possibly need on a cute little wooden tray. They really thought of everything, and I will definitely be back!
Stopped there for a quick coffee break whilst i was waiting for my next meeting. Basically one of thise great hipster coffee places which are popping up everywhere across the city. Great coffee!! Variety of different coffees available, they clearly seem to know what they are talking about! Lots of cakes on offer too!!! Included dairy free and gluten free. They seemed sooo good! But i was good and refrained from any sweet treat! Staff was particularly friendly & presentation of the coffee is fabulous - check out my photo. But its wonderful, coffee served on a wooden plate with sugar & bottle of water. Nothing extraordinary but nice little touch.
Loving the place and that's why I keep coming back here to try more of what they have on their menu. This time I am trying the matcha latte. I've been craving for this in a while and it's not easy to find in coffee shops in London. It tastes just like I want it, the froth on top is not too thick and you can sip the right balance of latte and the soft froth. The green tea also tastes perfectly so you will not be disappointed. Another fav drink of mine here is the ice coffee. It's perfect to have in a warm sunny day. But be aware that this place is so popular and it gets crowded during the day especially during spring break like today. Everyone is sitting comfortably on the couch, working, reading or chatting with friends. This place has the right vibe to do any of this and I would totally recommend it for coffee shop goers.
I have visited here on a number of occasions and the level of service ,quality of coffee and cake selection area always the same top notch! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and nothing is to much trouble. It is always busy but it does have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Try the filter coffees there are usually two to choose from and they vary each day so I've been told, I tried the Colombian which was full of flavour and had a hint of black currant to it!

in total: cute dining and a variety of healthier food options for the buck. you will find a lot of fun variety of healthier breakfast/brunch foods here. please know that you should order at the counter and they will bring you your food. you will find dining spaces upon entering ground level as well as below (ask directions to the restroom or just follow the stairs down.. you will find the staircase against the left wall upon entering the T Y.) more than anything, their baked goods trump all other offerings of sandwiches and quiche. so to say, their baked sweets are T Y's trademark. their sandwich was tasty too, but not particularly unique in comparison. i took a couple of photos, so feel free to check those out! read more

Staff were really friendly, food looked amazing but when had a bite of my egg sandwich it smelled like bacon fat and I didnt like that. Coffee is great. My sticky toffee cake was delicious but on the dry side. read more

In London there is a chance to get really bad coffee or really spectacular coffee, this is the latter. A very laid back vibe from the moment you approach until you leave. Also the feeling of real world coffeehouse where you can meet friends or just sit and work, it is a great place. read more

Super cute coffee/tea spot a few blocks away from the tourist madness that has become Covent Garden. I recommend the jasmine tea. They even bring an alarm, they recommend to remove the tea leaves after 3 minutes. They also serve FRESH orange juice. read more

Timberyard met all my coffee shop requirements... Wifi: check. Decor/comfy chairs: check. Full bodied coffee: check. Quality eats: check. Good music: check. and bonus points for the cute foreign barista! :] I love a good coffee shop and I think this was my favorite of the ones I visited on my London trip. When you walk in you are automatically greeted and given a warm welcome by servers even though its not a restaurant. They have loads of food options, many of which are displayed in a beautifully disorganized way that makes it look like there's mountains of pastries surrounding the barista station. I ordered an iced coffee, a fruit (so nice that they offer fruit), and a cookie. The place itself is adorable with wooden surveying trays and old mismatched furniture (note: more seating available downstairs!). The coffee was good, not burnt, and came with an adorable red and white striped straw. Wifi is free also. read more
This is a really nice cafe to prop yourself up to work in. There's plenty of space if you include downstairs, and the staff make it really easy for you to get more drinks as they'll come round to you while you're working. Drinks arrived promptly, chairs downstairs were comfortable, and we ordered an Oreo brownie on recommendation of the waitress (very tasty and a photo attached!). Only thing would be to make the WiFi code more obvious downstairs - I believe it's coffee4work (I couldn't find it on google) so we ended up tethering for the first hour as we forgot to ask when we arrived. Great little cafe though and looking forward to working from there more often. read more

Excellent coffee, delicious soups/quiche/snacks/pastries with plenty of GF options if that's your thing. Comfy couches, bright indoor space, friendly staff, fast wifi. Oh, yea. Not sure if they leave any coffee shop checkboxes unchecked. Five stars! read more
I've heard complaints about this place before: everything from poor service to poor coffee, but I've got to tell you ... even after 15 or so visits? I've never had a bad time. Staff have always been polite and cheerful, and my food is served to me promptly, on pretty wooden trays and nicely presented. Typically, I've dropped in for lunch: their sandwiches are filling and delicious. The food is freshly prepared and sandwiches can be toasted, if you wish. For vegans and lactose-intolerant folk, they serve almond milk as a dairy alternative, which is important to know as almond milk's kind of hard to find in London coffee shops! Tip: go early, as freelancers would have planted themselves squarely in front of the windows/near plug outlets at the wall and will be there for the long haul. Otherwise, drop in for takeaway pastries, cakes, and coffee. The choices are endless. read more

Any place that has high speed wifi and great work space is my jam! TimberYard is perfect for creative meetings, good drinks, and ambient music. What makes this place even better is that you can reserve a work space and avoid hunting for a table. read more
Underestimated this place even with a previous 5 start review. Spacious downstairs for co-working containing comfortable chairs of all varieties from office to cushioned to couches. There is even a separate space behind a glass door where you can hold a group/team meeting. Overall ambiance is chill but still moderately energetic so you won't have a ton of noise that other cafes often come with. Free speedy wifi, air conditioning in all common areas, and friendly energetic service time and time again. Sure it can get crowded during peak tea time, but all in all, a phenomenal co-working space. Much more spacious and accommodating of groups than the Soho location. read more

Superb Hasbeen coffee, fantastic friendly and efficient service, bonus free wifi, scrumptious array of food and interesting and funky decor, what more could you want. Don't tell too many peeps about this place as you'll never get a seat. read more

Occasion: seeing friends, working on laptop, chilling, morning coffee Location: in the centre of the west end in between covent garden and Leicester Square, not so obviously sign posted though Coffee: very nice, lots of choices of teas bit on the pricier side but you pay for service and atmosphere too Food: all ver fresh and creative choices, the cakes are a big hit here as well as the home made sandwiches £5.50. The quiche and salad is £8 which is quite steep. Atmosphere: excellent and unique. Lots of nice chairs, great wifi, great music playlist, sockets for laptops. Staff: always very friendly and helpful. read more

Absolutely a gem! Popped in on a Sunday to finish some work. Lovely ambience, strong wifi, and the Matcha Latte was delicious. They also give you a bottle of complimentary water with a tag "work space powered by purchases". There are plenty of seats downstairs, which was a bit quiet compared to the ground floor. They also have some outdoor sitting areas, perfect for a sunny day! read more
The staff were friendly and answered all my questions. All the lunch options are displayed so there's no menu or anything. I had a mix of all their salads available including a yummy one with chickpeas and carrots. I also tried a piece of banana bread which was a bit stale from sitting out all day and I had a latte which was delicious. If you sit downstairs, the food is all delivered to you on a beautiful wooden tray. Great place to work too as there are plenty of cosy spots to use their wifi with a cup of coffee. read more

Fantastic place for a cup of tea! Laptop-friendly with really good service. I like the attention they pay in creating the best tea experience; they provide a timer so that the tea is brewed to perfection. When I read past reviews, i find it hard to believe there's always space no matter how busy the cafe is. It's definitely true! read more

Don't waste your precious time and money seeking out good coffee elsewhere. This is the good coffee in London. The sort of espresso that touches your soul. I went here three times while in London because it was so good. It's also the perfect place to get work done as they have several outlets and lots of seating. Even a downstairs space with additional comfy seating and a toilet. They have a tantalizing array of sweets displayed as well. It's better than Monmouth when it comes to both coffee and ambiance. Inspirational! This place completely impressed me. Timberyard beckoned to me on my way home from a meeting, and I am glad that I followed my fancy into a wonderland of industrious comforts to finish out my work day. Never have I had a coffee shop anticipate my needs as much as Timberyard has: friendly and effective service, varied and delicious baked goods, purpose-built workspaces, functional and fuss-free wifi, outlets galore. Special mention to a playlist that gave a well-curated sampling of vintage hits--I play similar music in my DJ sets, and I felt as if Timberyard was reminding me of all the songs I had forgotten. Volume-wise, I was able to have an internal phone conversation just fine, and I saw the guy next to me had an extended Skype video chat with no difficulty with volume or connection. My raspberry coconut brownie was outstanding, as well as gluten-free. I was so satisfied with it, and so focused on my work, that I didn't end up ordering anything else over the 4+ hours I was there. I wanted to buy something else to take home, but by the time I looked up, it was closing time, and everything was packed up, leaving me anxious that the café hadn't made enough money from my stay there. If there had been a donation box, I would have left a fiver. Instead, I paid the staff a compliment on my way out, and was warmly asked to return soon. And now: I ask not what Timberyard can do for me, but what I can do for Timberyard. Seriously Timberyard, it's been a pleasure doing business with you. read more
