Yup, agree with other reviewers here that this place needs to step up when it comes to customer service. Never experienced such rudeness - I went to get a coffee today right when they opened at 7am, and even though it was only me and 2 baristas, they never even greeted me even though I was standing right in front of them. Caffe Luna is by far my favorite coffee house in the Northern Front Range. The coffee is good, the food is perfect coffee house faire (at a very low price), and the ambience is warm, a bit funky, and unique (exactly what I look for in a coffee house). It reminds me of some of the very cool coffee houses in Nashville and Austin. As far as cleanliness, well, the bathroom is ALWAYS very clean, and for those of you who can't handle old, worn furniture, well, there's always Starbucks. The location is great, right across street from Roosevelt Park. That is the only thing I could say good about the place. The coffee was mediocre at best, the barista was unhelpful and sort of smug, until one of the apparent regulars came in, then he bent over backwards for the guy. I stopped at the Cafe Luna while travelling through Longmont and decided to get a hot tea and bite to eat. As I was travelling via public transit, I had my luggage with me. and I set this on the table that I was using as a paying customer and tried to relax and enjoy my tea and bagel, at one point I purchased a book off of the book rack. An taller older Lady, with long silver hair, who appeared to be the owner, approached me and started questioning me about my luggage, complaining that it was an awful lot of stuff, and it was taking up too much space, this was the Lady that rang me up when I purchased my book. I informed her that these were my items and I was polite enough to offer to move them if this was somehow an incovenience. and in response she said "It's just so much stuff" and then basically stormed off. I was travelling with small rolling suitcase, a backpack, and small tote for my books. I normally don't travel to Colorado to visit my Grandparents this time of year as I am not well suited to the cold but I was made to feel so unwelcome that I exited the cafe and stood outside in the cold waiting for my Lyft. As a former small business owner I personally cannot understand treating a paying customer in such an manner and felt I had to write a review. read more

We used to really enjoy coming to this charming coffee shop in old town Longmont. I have to say it's not as welcoming since the previous owners sold it. The new owners have also raised the prices quite a bit. My family and I woke up on a glorious Sunday morning and decided to walk to Luna Cafe and start our day. We were served by the grumpy new owner who seemed to have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. When we arrived it was before 8:00 so the place was not busy, yet he seemed a bit perturbed to serve us and spoke to us quite condescendingly. There are plenty of wonderful coffee houses in town so I think we will make one of the others our regular stop. Extremely sad to have to write this as we were regulars at the old Cafe Luna. read more

Cafe Luna is a wonderful coffee shop in Longmont that's tucked away one block west of Main St. This funky looking house is a haven for affordable drinks, pastries, bagels and more. The laid-back nature of the establishment adds to it's charm. The walls are decorated with works of art from local artists and the relaxing atmosphere is enticing. Caffe Luna is the heartbeat of Longmont for me. It has some of the old feel of a sleepy town by being nested in an old Victorian-style house. But it is what is inside that really counts, just as in any home. Jocine and Mark, the owners, are welcoming, their food is out of this world, and their coffee is marvelous. This draws wonderful people to Caffe Luna. I will drive from Denver to meet friends and family there. While we are there, we inevitably run into people we know or have talked at the cafe from Longmont, Boulder, Lyons, Loveland.... We are drawn to the pleasant wake-up of good coffee and food in a comfortable, friendly environment. I'm always smiling when I leave. read more

This place is terrible. It is a dirty, run down house, and not in a charming kind of way. If you like brewed coffee that sits out all day, smug baristas, more flies than people in the cafe...then it's your kind of place. The staff was so unfriendly, and while I was there they were extremely rude and neglectful of the people who came from the bus; they were treated as second class citizens. The ingredients used for the lattes are subpar and the pastries are old, and dried out. There are many more injustices that surround this place. The former owners just sold, so hopefully the new owners will turn it around, however, it could be unlikely since it was sold to a family member. Apathy runs deep...DNA deep. read more

I've been going to Luna since 2002 and have always loved the food and the service...until today. I ordered a tuna melt on sourdough. The FIRST sandwich the lady brought to me consisted of three strips of bacon, two very tiny tomato slices, and a dollop of mayo in the center, not even spread on the bread. NO TUNA and NO MELTED CHEESE. I returned the sandwich and reminded her I ordered a tuna melt. The SECOND sandwich contained a small glob of tuna with NO MELTED CHEESE. I returned this one, as well, again stated that I had ordered a tuna melt. The lady said, "There's cheese, but it's mixed in with the tuna." When I said a tuna melt should be similar to a grilled cheese, with tuna salad in it, she said she'd remake it. The THIRD sandwich had very liquid tuna salad falling off the sides of the bread, NO CHEESE, and lettuce falling out the sides. It was impossible to even pick up the sandwich! I returned the sandwich, requested a refund. The employee asked me to sign for my cash. I signed, then had to remind her to give me the cash because she appeared to not want to do so, just repeated that I should sign for the money. I am so disappointed! Was the employee high? Unwilling to do her job? I'll NOT return!! I would have given ZERO stars, but there was no option to do so. read more

I like the atmosphere and have been enjoying the bakhti chai. I particularly like it as an alternative to the busier starbucks-like cafes in town. Some baristas are friendlier than others. The gluten free baked goods aren't bad and they're all wrapped in plastic now, so flies are no longer a problem. read more

Cute cozy spot for a nice cup of coffee. Unfortunately while advertising "Gluten Free" it is not. If gluten free is just a dietary prefrence your good. If you have celiac disease or an actual allergy you are out of luck. The owner was at first apologetic, and pointed out his shop is not gluten free "there is flour in the air". Telling him how that is terrible when you advertise gluten free he stated rather rudely that he will take it off the sign but "Still make as much money on it as he does now" read more

I enjoy the location, ambience, and coffee/food selection at Cafe Luna. Customer service is another story. The woman behind the counter had a dreadful look on her face. Unfriendly? Snobby? Bad day...? Not sure but she was quite uninviting. The worst part was the man who took my order. He tried to co-parent my 14 month old and 3 1/2 year old. I understand that many people these days are unfriendly to the appearance of a mom with small kids. Kids can be unpredictable, I get it. But my boys were simply looking around and touching non-fragile items on the shelves. Everything they touched, I made sure they left alone immediately. So, I like the concept. I love the book nook and the outdoor seating. It's an old house, it's quaint. However, the staff was not exactly rude, but they weren't the energetic happy people that I love at coffee shops. They truly seemed put off that they had to be there, especially the older woman. The kitchen was dirty and had a good 10 flies flying overhead. Not what I wanted to see at a place that sells food. I enjoyed my coffee, but found it odd that I had to put the coffee in myself. I ordered a cafe au lait, so it was easy enough to figure out how much coffee to add. Fill the cup up half way with coffee. What if I had ordered something else? I have no idea what the ratio would be for anything else. What if I had filled it the whole way? I think it should be the barista who makes my drink, but that's just me. I will absolutely Not go back to this cafe. The man taking orders at the counter was more concerned about having a meaningless conversation with a young woman than taking care of business, cleaning, taking orders, preparing orders that kind of stuff. He finally took my order and I went and sat down at a table. After I sat down I noticed how filthy the table was, I looked around and saw that the floor wasn't very clean and some of the other tables were not that clean. The other tables were wiped down but not a very clean wipe down. When I got my order the older woman who made it delivered it, I said thank you and she grumbled. I ordered a BLT, bag of chips and a latte. The bacon was rubbery and not crispy so the first bite took all the bacon out of the sandwich, the tomatoes were kind of old and over ripe. The latte and the bag of chips were fine. I decided to sit outside because the inside was just not doing it for me. I went out onto the wrap around porch and it was filthy, old cigaret butts, trash, spilled drinks on the wall and just your general dirt. Just say no to this place. read more

I visited Cafe Luna about a year ago with my husband, and I really enjoyed the strawberry chocolate chip muffin. However the woman that served us behind the counter was very rude...never had a smile on her face didn't even say good morning. I decided to try again today, because she really does make a great muffin. I got the exact same treatment. No good morning, no smile, very rude very standoffish. I asked her if she had bagels and instead of speaking to me she just pointed behind her. Today the muffin was just ok. And the coffee was not that great. I love this place. There are now a number of coffee shops in Longmont. What distinguishes this place is the environment and the people. The shop is in an old house with indoor and outdoor tables. The food is prepared as you wait, and there are many more selections than the scones and cookies or reheated burritos and breggo that are the staples of most coffee shops around here. I wanted to check this place out for my birthday and had high hopes, but barista looked bored and clearly wasn't happy to be there, coffee was hardly warm and was disgusting, I had to make my own cafe au lait other than the foam, she didn't replace the half and half after I let her know they were out, and the place looking very dingy didn't help. It was definitely a disappointment and I won't be going back. I highly recommend you get your coffee elsewhere. read more
