If there is a better coffee shop in Longmont I don't know it yet. And I've been looking. This is a classic place to hang in the sun, study, work, chat with old friends. It's an old house converted into coffee shop and has a ton of outside seating. In a sea of corporate barf this is a welcome old school mom and pop shop that you don't see much anymore. The pastries are INSANELY good and coffee great too. I assume the tea is good, but I don't do tea. If you're 1 staring this place, eat a shitsammich. First, I do not post reviews as I am largely a very easy to please person. This experience is beyond acceptable to me. I was working on my computer and received a return phone call from the Police Department as I had my wallet stolen from me 3 weeks ago and my GPS tracker was showing a location. I took this phone call went outside for the first portion of the call and only came back inside to write down the officers phone number. At which point another patron walked in and berated me for having a phone call while in the coffee shop. This same patron then had a conversation with the owner that was as loud if not louder than the conversation I had. Another patron then had a phone conversation to which the person that berated me did not provide any judgement to him. I confronted the person with the hypocrisy of his criticisms to which the owner and him again berated me. Lesson here, you do not know what is going on in someones life. Do not post judgement so quickly. I am trying to consider this same lesson when passing judgement on these two. read more

A lot of these reviews seem to be about the service and how they were not acknowledged upon arrival. When I went in, it was a 1 in/1 out system so I had to wait outside which was perfectly fine. When I walked in there, the one gentleman who was running the whole shop was assisting someone else, since there are two different counters to wait at. I understood that the single man behind the counter was busy so it did not acknowledge me because they were helping another customer - that is completely fine. Then when the man got done and came to help me he was pleasant and the everything bagel and my latte was fantastic. It makes me sad to see that a lot of these reviews about the customer service are negative. It's a small shop and the man seemed like he was overwhelmed but was doing his best to keep every order coming out just right. Please be patient with small businesses during this time - they may not be able to afford more help and they're overworked and underpaid. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

I really like this place! The house is cute and eclectic, the outdoor seating is nice and I like their coffee. They even have some yummy gluten free options. AND their prices are reasonable! Dropped by today with some friends. I'd never heard of this place before, but I always like discovering new locations and trying them out. The coffee shop itself is nice. There's a room off to the side with a few bookshelves stuffed to the brim with a lot of great titles. The wooden floor, the ambiance, and the furniture give it a very nice, homely feel. Seating area in the front of the building is also great - it's not on a busy street, so you'll still be able to enjoy conversation while sitting outside and enjoying any nice weather. And spying on people walking by. The reason my rating for this place is low is because of two things - the coffee and the customer service. They use Ozo beans, which are delicious, but for whatever reason their latte just didn't taste as good as a latte straight from Ozo's coffee shop. Artisanal coffee shops are a dime a dozen now. It's hard for me to justify dropping by this place again when they use Ozo's beans but then can't match the drink quality. I don't mind driving 5 minutes to an actual Ozo shop nearby. On top of this, the baristas were grumpy. Hardly mustered a smile, didn't bother really making conversation or saying hi. It's like having customers was an annoyance. I felt like I was a nuisance or something with the way they were looking at me. Sorry for buying your coffee? Just grump. And the worst part was how rough and careless they were with the drinks. They didn't rinse their espresso shot glasses between pulls (eh?), they didn't rinse their portafilter or portafilter baskets between drinks (how old is the residue I'm drinking?), and they were setting cups and glasses down harshly like it was my fault they were slammed and understaffed. I thought my latte was going to spill over the edges with how hard the barista set down my drink. Halfway through the lunch-hour rush, one of them just turned to the other and said, "I need to head out. Are you ok?" and the other barista just didn't respond. No, apparently she wasn't okay. Now, I don't know if something happened. I don't know if they had had a fight, or if there are problems between baristas, or if they're dealing with things in their personal lives. I don't know. But I'm not supposed to know. It's none of my business. Customer service is a hard job because you have to deal with customers and keep your own personal problems at bay, and I really empathize. But I was not a rude customer. I just wanted a latte, not a heaping dose of feelings of worthlessness as well. If you're walking around town and want coffee then there are other great shops within walking distance, or if you don't mind driving, you could just drive straight to an actual Ozo coffee shop at the Village at the Peaks shopping center. It's a bummer to give this place such a low rating. It has so much potential. But the lack of civility in behavior by the owner or manger...who ever angry rude man is, he made it really uncomfortable to enjoy all the positives the place had to offer. He was clearly frustrated. Kept slamming a door by the seats we had chosen. Then pulled us in to his concern about a young man who was possibly homeless, mentally unstable and potentially abusing drugs. By no means would I be happy to have the individual on my property but he had no compassion for the poor soul and kept making accusations and judgements. He even pulled us in by asking our opinion and then seemed super irritated and pissed when I mentioned that the individual may be suffering from some mental health challenges. He continued to bring things in and out by the area we sat at and slammed the door intentionally and with great aggression. Super super unprofessional! We moved seats. The place was so cool. The other patrons awesome. The baristas kind. They sell used books. It's just exactly the business I like to support but I can't support behavior like that unfortunately. As previous reviews have stated the service was terrible. There were 3 people working on a Saturday morning and each drink came out wrong and the food was a long time in coming. Caffe Luna (it actually has two "f"s) makes its home in an adorable Victorian right on the edge of Roosevelt Park. It has a fabulous wrap-around porch which is just perfect for sitting, socializing, and sipping your coffee. It is a very relaxed cozy environment. The house itself is well-worn, which is a great departure from the sleek and shiny Starbuck's and wannabe Starbuck's that are fast encroaching upon Longmont. My husband and I love to come here for breakfast on the weekend, and the owners, Mark and Josine, are just the nicest people. They remember what we always order and are shocked when we actually order something else! This is the epitome of a neighborhood cafe, where people know each others' names and are very friendly. The coffee is good -- better than nearby Ziggi's in our opinion -- and they have lots of pastries, pies, homemade breakfast options, burritos... it goes on -- it is actually a random mishmash of offerings. We usually get the ham and cheese croissant which is only $2.50. They have a great lox & bagel plate which is only $4.50. They have a number of sandwich options as well. When I saw the negative reviews about the service at Cafe Luna, I almost picked a different coffee shop to spend some much-needed me-time. However, my experience couldn't have been better. The young lady working at the counter and making the coffee was so cheerful and engaging. She seemed to sincerely enjoy talking with the customers. I ordered Chai, which is a new drink for me, and she happily answered all my questions to help me choose which kind to get. I was pleased with my selection, which was served in a pint glass. I also picked up a macaroon with chocolate drizzle on top. I asked and she confirmed that it was gluten-free. I saved it for later and right away wished I had gotten two. Soooooo yummy! I will be back just for another one of those. My only, minor complaint is about the seating. Chairs inside were all pretty much the same and not all that comfortable. Not a huge deal for my short stay but this would have been a big disappointment had I needed to spend a few hours there. Otherwise, I had a very pleasant experience at Cafe Luna. read more

The guy at the counter today just ignored me for the first three minutes I was standing in front of him wanting to make my order. He finally asked me for my order, and then he gave me a lukewarm mocha with Redi-Whip on top... and the lady taking the money shorted me a dollar (maybe by accident since I gave them a ten and the exact change?); but I hadn't had my coffee yet, so didn't realize it until after I was at work... *shrugs* A small price to pay to know that I don't want to go back, I guess. A bit dirty, it still holds some charm of a local coffee shop. Service is decent and you get a little of the snobbish barista feel, if that's your thing. Overall, I'm just a little confused by this spot. The baked goods are surprisingly tasty - even their biscotti hold a perfect combination of firmness with a little moisture. I ordered a cappuccino, which was incidentally listed as their special..."Italian style." Call me a snob, but it was dangerously close to a latte. The service is painful, it's two people running it and while the woman up front is very polite, she did not acknowledge the wait or the time of anyone behind us. Just completely walked around, right past everyone, to the back, to the outside, and only acknowledged us after about a 7 minute front-of-the-line wait (we waited longer than this, total). In short: great food. Not so good coffee. Great environment. Fantastic Roosevelt Park across the street. Also across the street: a bus stop that connects you with Boulder, Denver, and cities to the North. Big old trees offer shade and comfort. I'm a fan of Caffe Luna. I found Caffe Luna when I was down and out in the middle of the summer. The trees offered shade, and it was the most comfortable place around to get an internet connection and work for hours on improving my situation. I made friends there. I met fellow artists who could or would no longer tolerate the evolving yuppiedom and loss of spirit in Boulder. I made friends. I liked the place so much, I found an apartment nearby from which I am writing this review. Longmont has fallen on hard times; hard hit by the recession. Sadly, this has affected Caffee Luna, with reduced staff and reduced hours. The internet is so spammed by nearby neighbors looking for a free connection, it is sometimes hard to connect with it. Eggs are cooked using the steamer in the Expresso machine. This creates a lot of work (cleaning) for the staff, but it cooks the eggs in a delicious, unique way. The coffee is, sadly, not so great. Two carafes, one decaf, one regular, contain coffee that is usually more than 20 minutes old except perhaps during rush hour in the morning. The coffee at the 7-Eleven down the street is better. But who wants to consume coffee there? Nothing is perfect. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is an awesome selection of books. No shortage of interesting reading material. read more

I love going out for coffee for a weekly chess game, and support only our locally owned coffee shops in Longmont. I've been going to Caffe Luna for years, but I believe today was the last visit. A shame, but I've been so disappointed the last several times this year. First, only one employee from 9:00 - 11:00, with 8 people in line at 9. Poor guy, I can't blame him, but a bit overwhelmed. Although there is a "Masks Required" sign on the front door, none of the other 6 customers was wearing one. The barista was wearing his, as I would expect from a food service establishment. I know that employees are hesitant to enforce mask rules in fear of belligerent customers, but shouldn't health department guidelines be enforced? They only have one kind of regular coffee, which I found bitter and acidic. That was enough to keep me from coming back. I really expect a choice between at least a couple brew types, which they have everywhere else. They do not offer refills, so you need to pay full price for additional cups. I don't know of anyone else in Longmont that does this. Maybe Starbucks, but I don't go there. The last straw, the one bathroom is off limits to customers. That's not good after drinking coffee, and probably not in accordance with health regulations. I understand how COVID has severely impacted small businesses, but there are a lot of choices here in Longmont for locally owned coffee shops. I only wish the owner(s) the best of luck, and mean no ill will, but I hope their business model will evolve in a positive direction. read more

It's beautiful - nice big space, books all around, just a very chill spot. But! Come when the owner isn't there - he is loud and bangs shit around, blasts music and sings along at the top of his voice, and one can't hear, think or enjoy the coffee or muffin. Coffee has improved - using Ozo now. The Italian style cappuccino is really good. They changed the recipe for the oatmeal coffee cake and it's not as good as it was. Most of the pastries are home baked with fresh ingredients and are always good. We go here often. New owner is a good guy but recent staff changes have gone down hill. read more

Well...I live near here and have gone to Caffe Luna for a long time. Before it changed owners the place was very slow and not real friendly, but we went there anyway to support a local business within walking distance. They used to only take cash, so the fact that they now take credit cards is a plus, and the new owners have cleaned the place up and given it a fresh coat of paint. However, a fresh coat of paint cannot cover up the fact that I recently bought a strawberry chocolate chip muffin and after leaving and being blocks away, noticed that all over the muffin where it had touched the sides of the pan, there were little white hairs.....LOTS of them. I had been feeding this to my 2 year old daughter!!! I was and am mortified and will not be going back over to Caffe Luna. I have always been skeptical of their attention to cleanliness, but this is over the top. The health department should pop in on them. read more

But here's the thing: whoever buys books for this place has excellent taste (it's a used bookstore too). Warren Commission report? Check. Philosophical books on architecture? Yes. The coffee and breakfast options here are great and I love the atmosphere of the cafe and it's little outdoor patio. This would have become a go-to for me as I live close by and love to pick up iced coffee from a small locally owned business rather than a large corporate coffee place. However, the service at this cafe is downright terrible. I am in the service industry so I can tolerate a little more than your average yelp reviewer, but I will never be returning to this cafe. I walked in at 1 pm and was rudely yelled at to leave and "get out" because they were closed. The hours online said they were open until 5 pm and what kind of cafe closes at 1 in the afternoon? There were still a lot of people sitting on their patio, and I just cannot understand why I had to be so rudely thrown out of there. I understand if you are closed for one reason or another, but there is no reason to be so rude about it. If you want some good coffee at the risk of being yelled at by the people making it for you, this is a great place to stop. read more

While I really like their pastries, the brewed coffee is just OK (and I'm an Ozo's fan). I think they're ratio of beans to water may be off a bit. However, the reason for my two-star review is the employee/barista (possibly in her 50's who wears a bandana/kerchief) who was INCREDIBLY rude. I asked to help her carry various plates outside to our table and she slammed them down on an adjacent table rather than hand them to me personally. Also, she was incredibly annoyed that I even deigned to order food. I wonder if she realizes she works in a cafe? This one incident aside, I've tried repeatedly to give the cafe a little love every now and again, but the other day--after waiting 15 mins for my order of a black coffee to even be taken--I decided to just walk out and get coffee elsewhere. There wasn't anyone in line except for one gentleman that had already placed his food order (which rude kerchief lady was busy prepping). The barista gave me a head-nod, but didn't seem to understand how to multi-task and ask for my drink order as well. Just seemed like a huge waste of time in an empty cafe. Stay away!!!!! I went to Cafe Luna for the first time this weekend. The cafe was practically empty, no line, and the two employees behind the counter were more interested in chatting and laughing rather than helping me. I stood at the counter for six minutes and neither one of them even acknowledged me. When I said "excuse me?" I was given attitude and a dirty look. I turned around and immediately walked out crying. Two people walking in asked if I was okay and I explained what happened. They too were first time customers, so they walked out with me, we got in our cars and went over to Ziggi's. This establishment has the most HORRIBLE Customer Service I've ever experienced. I guess that explains why the cafe was empty. What a shame! read more
