Java Nachos and Java-tini
Hannah P.

Went here for lunch. I couldn't pass up nachos. Im very happy I did because it fulfilled my needs. To top it off, many drinks were surprisingly half price after noon so I couldn't say no to that. I haven't been back to Cafe Java in so long. I didn't know they serve alcoholic drinks. The Java-tini was made to perfection. So addicted now. Will definitely be back for more!

I've had a long history with Cafe Java. I dined here for over 15 years and loved every single experience before ownership transitioned several years ago. My first time back after the transition left me with a terrible experience from service to food. After being away for a couple years now, we decided to give it a try again on multiple occassions and I'm happy to report the good service and good food is back! As always, the diversity of the menu has been able to attend to all tastes in our party and the daily specials make each visit a new adventure. They have great coffee beverages, crave-worthy biscuits and gravy, delicious sandwiches and breakfast, and the service has been good despite being very busy. Glad to be able to put this back in our rotation!

We've been talking about going here for years but don't go out to eat for breakfast near our house, really ever. Well, on Sunday, we decided to finally check it out for a late lunch/brunch. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and she had the migas. The steak was cooked well but could use a touch more seasoning but the eggs and hashbrown and rye bread were all delicious. We were slightly dissapointed they don't make their own tortillas but outside of that, my fiance really enjoyed the migas and said the salsa was good. I'd really like to go back and try their coffee or mixed drinks soon.

I have been to this restaurant twice. Today being the second time. My first time was great at a different location. Though for this location, I think customer service can improve. I ordered grilled chicken salad, the waitress then told us "it's not here" implying that we're ordering something that's not on the menu when it was. Then she started suggesting stuff outside of salads (mind you we were a party of 6) so it doesn't look appropriate to ask for more time to look at other options when I specifically wanted a salad (how had is it to make a grilled chicken ceasar salad?) anyways, my order came 10 mins late after everyone got their food, and my chicken was cut in very small cubes and fridge cold. It was even mentioned in the menu that it was going to be cold meat. Our coffee proportion was also very less and a lot of whip cream, and lastly, didn't get any refills on water when we asked for it, twice. On the side note, my husband had their Philly omelet. and we love that and their hashbrowns.

A friend and I came in on a Saturday morning, around 7:30 AM. The Cafe was already busy at that time, but we were still able to get sat pretty quickly. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating variety for small or large parties. Our server was very kind and attentive throughout our meal. I decided to order the "Meat Lovers Omelet:" an omelet with bacon, sausage, ham and cheddar cheese, served with hash browns and wheat toast. The omelet was delicious!!!! The savory-ness of all the ingredients, and the omelet's size was perfect. The hash browns were a little too greasy for my liking, but I enjoyed their crisp! The table has an assortment of jellies for your toast--I went with the "apple butter," so good!!!! Overall good experience! Worth a 4.5 if I could give it. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

It's incredibly rare when I make a trip past the Domain, but here we are. There aren't many local restaurants in the area, so when I found Cafe Java, I had to show support. You can tell this is a neighborhood restaurant, as the food and coffee were just basic. I had the Migas Taco and felt the eggs were too dry/overcooked. The coffee wasn't strong, and tasted like brown water. Cafe Java is edible, but that should be the bare minimum.

It's your neighborhood coffee place where they have friendly baristas, old school style cafe , good coffee and a nice crowd . I have tried only their coffee so far, yet to explore the food menu . Good shaded outdoor seating and plenty of interior seating.

Cava Java is one of my "go to" breakfast spots in P-town. But they get so busy on Sundays and they still had the old school paper wait list. But today, we ventured there for breakfast after about a nine month sabbatical and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have updated their wait list system to a text system (Cracker Barrel style) and their payment system. No more long lines at the cashier, just pay at your table and go. Bravo...Cava Java, now your fine food, service and coffee makes our total experience even better. The food is always great here. I'm a creature of habit. My favorite is "The Java". 2 eggs, 2 bacon, toast, pancake or hash browns and "coffee". It's a delicious meal and a great value. They have an amazing baked goods selection. Cupcakes, cheesecakes and huge frosted cinnamon rolls. The staff always aims to please, in my humble opinion, they hit their mark every time. I didn't realize how long since I was here last. I really missed all this delicious-ness. As much as I hate to say this because it will only get busier. Yet, stop by and ask for"Ivan". He's a hard working server who will hustle for you. The first time to this Cafe Java. I liked the shaded area outside if you had to wait. Our wait was short, though. The dining area is a decent size. The service was excellent. Our server came and took our orders. One of our parties had a steak and asked for it medium rare. It was a little bloody for her. So we asked to have it cooked a little longer, and our server got it done...terrific service. I had the Country Hill special. It was good but a little salty for me, so I didn't enjoy it. However, I will go back, but I will order a different item in the future.

The best breakfast tacos in all of Round Rock for me!

This place is an absolute gem and they need to protect Cliff at all costs! I love this place because it's a restaurant that not only serves awesome delicious food but you're treated like family. When we first moved here Cafe Java always welcomed us like family. Cliff works the front of the establishment with a kick ass staff to back him. He is a consistent friendly face prior to us making friends here. The love that comes out from him and the staff here really shows. Customer service is not at all where it used to be with other locations. This place has such yummy food with staff that truly treat you with care. I'm so grateful for this local spot because they are everything. Thank you for your service in this community.

Ask the Community - Cafe Java - Round Rock

Are you open tomorrow for lunch?

Yes, they are open for lunch almost every day, unless it's Christmas or the power is off.

Do they have free wifi?

Yep! Just ask your server for the pw :)

Is this a good spot for a working dinner meeting for 7 people? Noise level and table availability in an out-of-the-way spot on a Tuesday are important.

Not really. They do have a large booth or two there, but there's no area that is really out of the way. However, they are the nicest people with excellent service, so if they can accommodate you, they will try.

Do they take to go orders? And is it full menu all day?

Yes and yes!

The server was really helpful.Brought us a menu.Everything looked pretty good.I decided to order the brisket burrito. It looked pretty good and he recommended it. I'm gonna start off by saying I got my meal about 10 minutes later. The potatoes were excellent loved. Em didn't have any complaints about Em. They tasted awesome. They were great now. On the other hand the burrito, not so much. The burrito was soggy, something was off with the meat. It tasted kind of bitter. I don't know if it was because of the barbecue sauce or what I ate about.Half of it before I couldn't eat it anymore. And I tossed it the other half. I was extremely disappointed with the meal.I paid about twenty four twenty five dollars.I believe for the meal and had to throw half of it away.Because it just didn't taste right.I didn't wanna make an issue. It looked phenomenal, just didn't taste like that. The other gripe I had was, I took a bite out of some of the burrito and noticed that it was a big glob of fat. Instead of actual brisket meat I probably should have stuck with the regular, which would have been bacon and eggs. But decided to try that.Because the way to recommended it sad I didn't stay with the eggs and bacon. I think Chicken Fried Steak is one of the best defining dishes of Southern cuisine. I think Chicken…read moreFried Steak is an item that has kept the people of the Southern United States together regardless of interests, jobs, intelligence, and opinions. It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry

We definitely left scratching our heads. The service was a little slow, and notably when the server came by to refill my husband's drink, instead of heading to the drink station they stopped and talked with the hostess for a few minutes before even going to get his drink. Just kind of odd overall. I also had to repeat a very simple order multiple times. I'm not sure if the server couldn't hear me, but they asked questions that I had already answered quite a few times. The food is solid, even given the previously mentioned smaller portions. Their plates were kind of heavy - I mean it's a nice style to have heavy ceramic plates, but my kid nearly dropped theirs when the food was handed to them by the server ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ just didn't feel very thought through. Service seemed slow, but I feel like it's hit or miss all the time, so I guess it was unexpected - we were just hungry when we arrived so it felt really extra long.
