    Their famous churro pancakes

My family and I have been coming to this location of Java Cafe ever since we moved to Pflugerville. This place is by far one of my favorite places for breakfast/brunch. I always look forward to bring friends and family who visit with us to Java Cafe. Through the years I have watched this place grow with technology. When you walk in they will take your name put it on their waiting list and send you a text, you can kindly wait outside or in your vehicle until they call your name or notify you via text they are resdy to seat you. I enjoy the fact they move their line of people who waiting to eat very fast. While there are some customers who can be I considerate of others, they still treat them professionally. The staff here are amaz8ng and so friendly. Today, my wife and I came for a breakfast date. We were able to sit at the bar. It was or first time sitting at the bar since we have been coming here for 13 years now. All I can say you get to witness the experience and coordinated pace that this staff works to make your food, drinks, coffee, all while managing to know exactly who you are and where they are with your food. One of the key factors of the staff's success and professionalism, is the fact that this place is veteran owned. You can see the traits passed down from a military perspective. They have a variety of coffee, espresso, bloody Mary, tequila sunrise, etc The food here is amazing, I have tried almost everything they have offered on their menu that fits my taste buds. My favorite is the western omelet. When they offer their churro pancakes or donut you have to try these specials. They are total worth the sweet tooth taste. Please do not be discouraged to visit when you see the long line. I have waited anywhere from 5-10 minutes to 45 minutes. The wait is worth it in my opinion. I honestly wish they could expand this location or build a new location in Pflugerville Ston Hill shopping center.

Went here for lunch. I couldn't pass up nachos. Im very happy I did because it fulfilled my needs. To top it off, many drinks were surprisingly half price after noon so I couldn't say no to that. I haven't been back to Cafe Java in so long. I didn't know they serve alcoholic drinks. The Java-tini was made to perfection. So addicted now. Will definitely be back for more!

I've had a long history with Cafe Java. I dined here for over 15 years and loved every single experience before ownership transitioned several years ago. My first time back after the transition left me with a terrible experience from service to food. After being away for a couple years now, we decided to give it a try again on multiple occassions and I'm happy to report the good service and good food is back! As always, the diversity of the menu has been able to attend to all tastes in our party and the daily specials make each visit a new adventure. They have great coffee beverages, crave-worthy biscuits and gravy, delicious sandwiches and breakfast, and the service has been good despite being very busy. Glad to be able to put this back in our rotation!

We've been talking about going here for years but don't go out to eat for breakfast near our house, really ever. Well, on Sunday, we decided to finally check it out for a late lunch/brunch. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs and she had the migas. The steak was cooked well but could use a touch more seasoning but the eggs and hashbrown and rye bread were all delicious. We were slightly dissapointed they don't make their own tortillas but outside of that, my fiance really enjoyed the migas and said the salsa was good. I'd really like to go back and try their coffee or mixed drinks soon.

I have been to this restaurant twice. Today being the second time. My first time was great at a different location. Though for this location, I think customer service can improve. I ordered grilled chicken salad, the waitress then told us "it's not here" implying that we're ordering something that's not on the menu when it was. Then she started suggesting stuff outside of salads (mind you we were a party of 6) so it doesn't look appropriate to ask for more time to look at other options when I specifically wanted a salad (how had is it to make a grilled chicken ceasar salad?) anyways, my order came 10 mins late after everyone got their food, and my chicken was cut in very small cubes and fridge cold. It was even mentioned in the menu that it was going to be cold meat. Our coffee proportion was also very less and a lot of whip cream, and lastly, didn't get any refills on water when we asked for it, twice. On the side note, my husband had their Philly omelet. and we love that and their hashbrowns.

A friend and I came in on a Saturday morning, around 7:30 AM. The Cafe was already busy at that time, but we were still able to get sat pretty quickly. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating variety for small or large parties. Our server was very kind and attentive throughout our meal. I decided to order the "Meat Lovers Omelet:" an omelet with bacon, sausage, ham and cheddar cheese, served with hash browns and wheat toast. The omelet was delicious!!!! The savory-ness of all the ingredients, and the omelet's size was perfect. The hash browns were a little too greasy for my liking, but I enjoyed their crisp! The table has an assortment of jellies for your toast--I went with the "apple butter," so good!!!! Overall good experience! Worth a 4.5 if I could give it. Will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

It's incredibly rare when I make a trip past the Domain, but here we are. There aren't many local restaurants in the area, so when I found Cafe Java, I had to show support. You can tell this is a neighborhood restaurant, as the food and coffee were just basic. I had the Migas Taco and felt the eggs were too dry/overcooked. The coffee wasn't strong, and tasted like brown water. Cafe Java is edible, but that should be the bare minimum.

Love me some cafe java. I always get my usual the corn beef hash with a whole lotta love latte.

It's your neighborhood coffee place where they have friendly baristas, old school style cafe , good coffee and a nice crowd . I have tried only their coffee so far, yet to explore the food menu . Good shaded outdoor seating and plenty of interior seating.

Ivan, "Glad to be of service"!

Cava Java is one of my "go to" breakfast spots in P-town. But they get so busy on Sundays and they still had the old school paper wait list. But today, we ventured there for breakfast after about a nine month sabbatical and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have updated their wait list system to a text system (Cracker Barrel style) and their payment system. No more long lines at the cashier, just pay at your table and go. Bravo...Cava Java, now your fine food, service and coffee makes our total experience even better. The food is always great here. I'm a creature of habit. My favorite is "The Java". 2 eggs, 2 bacon, toast, pancake or hash browns and "coffee". It's a delicious meal and a great value. They have an amazing baked goods selection. Cupcakes, cheesecakes and huge frosted cinnamon rolls. The staff always aims to please, in my humble opinion, they hit their mark every time. I didn't realize how long since I was here last. I really missed all this delicious-ness. As much as I hate to say this because it will only get busier. Yet, stop by and ask for"Ivan". He's a hard working server who will hustle for you. Ask the Community - Cafe Java - Round Rock

Are you open tomorrow for lunch?

Yes, they are open for lunch almost every day, unless it's Christmas or the power is off.

    Do they have free wifi?

Yep! Just ask your server for the pw :)

Is this a good spot for a working dinner meeting for 7 people? Noise level and table availability in an out-of-the-way spot on a Tuesday are important.

Not really. They do have a large booth or two there, but there's no area that is really out of the way. However, they are the nicest people with excellent service, so if they can accommodate you, they will try.

Do they take to go orders? And is it full menu all day?

    Yes and yes!

I think Chicken Fried Steak is one of the best defining dishes of Southern cuisine. I think Chicken…read moreFried Steak is an item that has kept the people of the Southern United States together regardless of interests, jobs, intelligence, and opinions. It is a unifying meal of blue-collared and white-collared people alike. It is a food that unifies the vast cultures of the south. There is no debate when there is a Chicken Fried Steak. Soul food and southern food are so severely important to people who were raised in the south because the overall feeling of those cuisines is that it feels like their Grandma is cooking dinner. Now if you look at my Yelp profile picture for a fraction of a second and maybe stereotype a little, you can accurately assume that my Grandma's cooking would fit in the latter and you would maybe wonder if my grandmother knows what seasoning is. If you have had her chili, you would say no. The famous Texan Cafe & Pie Shop in Hutto is a classic Southern diner that is always a perfect pick-me-up meal and is a truest staple of the area. When I first visited Hutto before moving I looked for places to try, and the abundant and sheer quantity of reviews for Texan Cafe made it clear that I had to try it. That was just over a year ago, and I still remember parking my car in the lot across the street and walking into the cozy diner with wood chairs and booths, red tablecloths, and so much decor on the walls it might be a museum, and I felt right about moving to Hutto. I was seated immediately and almost instantly ordered the Chicken Fried Steak smothered with white gravy, of course, with sides of Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes. It was not long before the beautiful plate hit my table, and I destroyed everything on that plate. When I thought it was over, I was handed the dessert menu that was two full rows worth of pie and other options. I was mesmerized by the length of it and was overwhelmed by the options. I texted my parents to tell them and suddenly I was going back to San Antonio with slices on slices worth of pie for them to have. When my parents came up to help move me in, they wanted to go to the Texan. They were impressed with how great the meal was alongside the pies. Pies that they bought extra of to take back with them to San Antonio. When I started my job, the first meal they took us new hires to was the Texan. I tried their Blue Plate Special and found out that Chicken Fried Pork Chops exist and fell in love with that. When my brother came and visited meeting my parents and me in Hutto, we went to the Texan. We enjoyed their appetizers and everyone had to have a slice of pie. Options for everyone. When a friend came and visited, she took a solo trip to the Texan while I was at work then told me she took the best nap of her life after. My buddy and I decided to go randomly one day after work to try their Hot Pie with Brandy Sauce. That thing is a tank and is worth a visit to try alone. What a sweet creation. When my girlfriend visited me in Hutto, I took her to the Texan and she will randomly text me about how much she misses the pie. I try to get her a slice every time she comes and visits. It is her favorite thing. It is clear to see why it is a favorite to so many because everyone I have taken to the Texan has left a fan wanting to come back. I brought my grandparents home a full Blueberry pie from the Texan Cafe which my grandma told me "was the best I have even since I was a little girl. Not too sweet with a great crust. Just right. A blueberry pie is my favorite." I know this review is less of a review and more of a collection of vignettes of many stories built inside the walls of the Texan Cafe, but that is what is so beautiful about southern hospitality and southern diners. That is why there is so much decor about the extensive history of Texan Cafe and the culture of Hutto on the walls. I went back this afternoon for the first time in a short while, but I find myself continuously impressed by the quality of the food, the efficiency as a whole, and just how welcoming everyone is inside. Their pies are just truly next level. Today, I went for the Chicken Fried Pork Chop Blue Plate Special which is truly heaven sent, potato salad, fried okra, and a slice of their cherry pie. It is a meal you feel blessed to eat and a restaurant you love supporting because of it. Every pie I have had at the Texan is better than any other pie I have eaten. They could be a full time bakery and still be the monument of Hutto. It just happens they have food that warms your heart too. RIYL: Grandma's cooking if it was not dry

Whiskey Cake has been on my list of places to try…read more I was in Round Rock today, so today was the day! I entered in, and just to the left, a host greeted me in. I said this was my first time here, and that I was excited to try them. She was super polite, very friendly. She sat me at a booth. She walked away for a quick minute and came back with a water glass and a small pitcher of ice cold water. My server came around. And gave me my menu and said you gotta try the whiskey Cake. Cake? Did someone say cake? Yes please. With cake on my mind. I thought I better balance this out. So I played it safe and got the grilled chicken salad. Also she said everything is house made from scratch, such as the cocktails, juice, salad dressing and so on. I did order a juice from the bar. It was the Jessica Wabbit with mint, carrot, lime, ginger, and some other flavors. The drink was handed to me first. Lovely flavors, could taste the fresh mint, fresh ginger. A little sweetness with the pineapple. Brilliant mix of flavors. The salad was very large. Dressing was fresh, rich with basil and garlic. Chunks of bacon and wedges of hard boiled eggs, avocado chunks, blue cheese scattered around, and the grilled chicken, warm juicy and beautifully chard. Love that charred flavor. The salad dressing was really delectable. Wonderful salad. Next came the whiskey cake. This cake should be its own food group. The cake itself has a beautiful flavor, it's a little dense, in a good way. The sauce is outstanding, it's toffee and sweet. Heavenly really. Pecans on top are spiced. I could only eat half of the cake. I'll snack on that later tonight. The food was outstanding. I would love to come back and try other food items. Service was perfection. I had so many wonderful conversations with everyone I came in contact with. I was wished well by everyone I passed by. Even in the bathroom, the host was coming out and she asked how my visit was. I mean, just the most genuine southern hospitality. Top notch service! Parking lot was packed. And they do have a pretty large lot all around the building. So you know this has to be The Place for an afternoon lunch or family dinner.

The whiskey cake is probably this restaurant's saving grace as the cake is decadent moist, and the combination of the pecans with the caramel and the whipped cream all just make it so delicious. It was definitely worth the wait to have it at the end and in retrospect, it probably would have done well to have first since the food that we ordered was a little more on the lackluster side. I found it hard to be impressed by the prime rib and Gouda stack as they were no defining flavors for this rather expensive sandwich and the mac and cheese was also not very memorable. When it comes to the service provided at the restaurant, there were many times where it felt as though our table had been forgotten to be waited upon, despite there not being many other people at the restaurant. Overall, I think my experience at Whiskey Cake was OK and while I may not return for the food necessarily, I would for the cake.

The brisket was lovely - but it all stuck together in one piece. The chips were conspicuously too thin for even for salsa. I couldn't pick up my queso with my cheap superthin chips. Not being able to pick up one's food defeats the purpose of providing chips in the first place. Not that I was missing any kind of big treat. The queso itself didn't taste like much. I didn't die but what I had wasn't great. * Entertainment value was low as well. On TV, two out of the three channels were Cotton Patch's own advertising-itself TV, The landscapes were all standard Texas Highway Department "Texas-Is-a-Lovely-Place-To-Visit-Right-Now". The show didn't make me want to visit any of those places. The frequent ads for Cotton Patch did not make me want to go out and buy Six Cotton Page Gift Certificate cards. I love my friends and family. I know some of the best people in the world. They have not done anything bad enough in this life to justify them being punished with gift certificates from Cotton Patch.

Have been here a couple of times and the food and service have been consistently good. So far, I've…read moregotten the Chicken Tortilla Soup and the Pabellón Plate (with chicken), and both were great. The chicken was not dry and the portions left me full. Plenty of menu options as well. The staff are warm, welcoming, and accommodating (we came with a group of 6 and they got us situated right away). The space is small (which I find very nice), there is indoor and covered/shaded outdoor seating available. And I love the decor! Overall, highly recommend!

My husband and I came here for dinner and we decided to sit outside…read more I wasn't very hungry so I ordered their single taco with al pastor shrimp, which was an extra $2.99 and lime/guac for an extra 50 cents (on top of the single taco, which was $4.50). My husband ordered their burrito, which came with chips and a cheese dip on the side. Their shrimp was good; nothing special. I did ask to try aleida's sauce, which many people liked on yelp, but we liked their green sauce the most! Overall, very cute and colorful restaurant; loved all the decor. The outdoor patio, where we sat, was covered and nice, until it started pouring hard outside. Not a super authentic latin restaurant. No complimentary chips and salsa. My taco wasn't worth more than $5, tbh, and we paid close to $9..given it was shrimp, but we've had much better shrimp tacos elsewhere for less. I wish I had a photo of my poor taco, but I totally forgot to take a picture :/
